No translation. Just a dictionary.

The dictionary program itself is good. I have no complaints with its' ability to translate from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. The extra ability to review various verb tenses and translate numbers is also nice. What surprised me after purchase was that there is no thesaurus feature included. I had been using the web version of Ultralingua Mobile that includes both a dictionary and thesaurus. I assumed this was included in the software given the $20 price tag. As a supervisor of bilingual student teachers I needed software that was more responsive than a web based program can provide without a fast internet connection. Thus the need for a dedicated program like Ultralingua offers. The software seems a bit costy given its limitations. I will hope that in future updates a thesaurus feature is added.

I would love to give this a 5 star rating but I think it is a bit overpriced. If it was just a little bit cheaper I would definitely give it a 5! With that being said I love UltralinguaSpanishEnglish! I almost have a whole book shelf filled with spanish dictionaries and references books but this little app I actually refer to the most! 2 great things about this is that it is portable and requires no internet access! I just keep my iPod in my purse, no need to drag my big clunky laptop or big dictionary around everywhere I go when I have this! I also love the numbers and how it has conjugations to every verb and every tense....right at my fingertips! Although it was a bit spendy I don't at all regret buying this! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn Spanish this will take you there!

If you are considering a Spanish-English dictionary look no further. This is the most complete, user-friendly, and convenient dictionary available. I HAVE ONE SUGGESTION--- As many users of this dictionary will be students of Spanish, professors, translators etc (all of which I have been at some point), it would be an invaluable addition to provide some sort of "favorites" option. This option would allow users to review and study words they have selected as favorites. The "history" option is ok, but not quite as functional as a list of words that the user could create by simply selecting an option upon looking up a word. I have discussed this option with colleagues and other users and many agree that such an option would perfect this already great dictionary. This option would of course be one of the great advantages offered by an iPhone based app.

The price may be a little high, but I'm willing to pay it for the convenience. It's just what I want. I wish I had this last year when I was in Spain. A little dictionary takes much to long. This is fast and when you find your word there are lots of common phrases that you may want to use. There are conjugations, phrases, tenses and such.

My wishes, for UltralinguaSpanishEnglish developers, would be: I would like the ability to hear the word. I would like a keyboard that is able to use these: é & ñ to find a word in Spanish. Without these the word meaning is totally different. I would also like to be able to go back to the last screen. There is no way to do this, you must re-enter the word you originally entered.

Hope this is helpful to anyone that is fussing over the price. The price is what it is and I took a chance and I'm glad that I did. I'm far from being a rich woman, but when it helps me learn I'm more apt to make an exception. Education is a beautiful thing. Never stop learning.

Yes, $30 was too high. $10 will probably sell many more copies. Ultralingua apparently agreed that $30 wasn't going to work and lowered the price. It's been said by others but Apple has nothing to do with setting prices so slamming Apple for an app's price seems unfair.

I felt comfortable buying UltralinguaSpanishEnglish for $20 after having first checked out the Ultralingual web site for more details. After ten minutes of trying the purchased app I found it easy to use. I had no problems with conjugations. As advertised, one does not to be online to use it. Searched-for words displayed in multiple phrase context seems extensive. In practical terms, traveling with a paper version is no picnic. I have yet to find a reliable Spanish-English paper version that fits easily in a pocket. And I most always have my iPod Touch with me so I've added a comprehensive dictionary at no extra weight.

Electronic pronunciations would be nice but not sure how much more that would add to the size of UltralinguaSpanishEnglish . Unless I'm missing something, including a simple Help file explaining basic operation may be helpful for some users? We'll see how far a $20 purchase price goes when it comes time for any future updates.

I've had this application for about a month now. I've been studying Spanish for several years and have taken Spanish immersion classes in Spanish speaking countries for the last two years. I had been carrying around a small travel dictionary that often came up short on words and definitions. So far, the Ultralingua dictionary has always found a definition for the word I have been looking up. In fact, I'm impressed with all the slang and idiomatic expressions that show up during a search. The verb conjugation is great, it eliminates the need to carry around my huge book of 500 verbs. I haven't tried the new update yet, but haven't been disappointed with the program in its current configuration.

UltralinguaSpanishEnglish is amazing. When you look something up, it presents you with a wide range of possible meanings, tons of idiomatic expressions, and also the next several head words alphabetically- so you can discover other words just like when you use a real dictionary!

Unlike a dictionary, however, Ultralingua will correct my spelling. If I hear a word and spell it with an s rather than a z or c, the dictionary will automatically suggest the correct spelling.

Might be best for people with a bit of Spanish already, so that when you look up a conjugated verb form and the dictionary autosuggests the infinitive form, you can recognize it and see what's going on. I don't mind that a bit, though, and I would give UltralinguaSpanishEnglish eight stars if I could. I have recommended it to several people already!

I bought this for my AP Spanish class this year and I've been using it on my Summer assignments. It's incredibly handy and convenient. Beats looking up words in dictionaries, or pulling out separate books for verb conjugations - just search for a verb to conjugate in all tenses. I haven't yet come across a word which wasn't in its database.

The dictionary is great, lots of detail and description but not overwhelming. Easy to access.

Looking up and conjugating verbs is extremely easy and reliable.

The numbers feature is really handy although I don't need it as much. Might be more handy if I went to a Spanish-speaking country and had to figure out how to say the total on a bill or something, but not so much for a classroom setting.

Overall an extremely easy-to-use, reliable and helpful app. I'm using it on my iPod Touch 1st gen and it works perfectly. DEFINITELY worth the $20 for someone in an educational environment like me. 5 stars!

This dictionary is very good. It's been very helpful to me in learning Spanish. At times, the translations given are words or phrases not understood well by native speakers (Latin American immigrants in Southern California). I don't know if it's Spain Spanish or just very academic, though you should expect academic language from a good dictionary. Just an FYI. A very good resource.

I am currently learning Spanish. UltralinguaSpanishEnglish has been a most helpful tool! I love how the verb conjugation is displayed! UltralinguaSpanishEnglish will be most useful during our upcoming trip to Spain and for many more years to come!

I’ve used a variety of Spanish English dictionaries. This is by far the best. It not only does single words but phrases and conjugations. Well worth the money

I love this helpful ap. The verb conjugations are great ways to remember some tricky irregular forms. The favorites gesture dodo lets you make a list of words you might see sometimes but can’t quite retain.
Same applies to their French and Italian apps, by the way...

I understand the pricing problem. Thirty dollars is probably too expensive, but 20 dollars for this program is really worth it.

I am fairly fluent. I have many Spanish patients that don't speak English. I have been to South America many times. I love Spanish Gospel music.

The interface is excellent. You can start with a word and translate from English to Spanish or from Spanish to English. You can also highlight any word in the definition of a word and go to that word. Going back (or forward) to an original word is done easily by pressing the appropriate arrow. Many uses of the word and various idioms are also given. A history of your searches can also be entered easily. The text is very legible. The congugation of a verb is easily done, and in many tenses. The numbers translation is an extra bonus.

The only thing that would make it better would be a whole section on grammer. But this is a dictionary, not a grammer exposition.

Of all the dictionaries that I have examined for the Iphone (and I have downloaded many), I have found this one the best.

This dictionary I will use a lot. Well worth the price. "You get what you pay for."
