Just what I asked for!

Bible in a year? How about the Bible 2 times a year or 3 or 4!
I’ve been waiting years for a true Catholic audio Bible. A couple years ago when I was listening to The Bible in a Year with Father Mike I requested that Ascension turn his Bible narration into an audiobook since as far as I could find there were only 2 versions, a very old (1940’s or 50’s maybe) Douay-Rheims that has missing parts and a variety of narrators and a King James. Catholics have desperately needed an updated audio Bible. Well, they’ve done what I asked! Perhaps many people made this request because there is a dearth of full Catholic audio Bibles while Protestants have an absolute plethora. We too should know the Bible as well as Protestants do since “The Bible is a Catholic Book” (Jimmy Akin). If you listen for an hour a day you can potentially listen to the Bible 3-4 times per year. If you speed it up, and Ascension has inclued this function, you could listen even more.
Thank you Ascension for giving us this great gift! I’m sure the rest of AscensionBibleCatechism is as useful as the audio Bible but, personally, I only have eyes for the audio Bible. There is no audio for the Catechism but I’m sure that will be available sometime next year after Father Mike has finished narrating it.

Amazing resource!! Must get!!

This is an easy to use app that allows you to learn about the Bible and the Catechism! Not only are both books put together into one app, but the podcasts provide further explanations that helps enrich your faith. I personally believe AscensionBibleCatechism is better than the YouVersion Bible app because it actually includes all the books of the Bible (73 total while YouVersion only has 66). AscensionBibleCatechism also has so many more features than YouVersion that goes further than just reading. AscensionBibleCatechism brings teachings from the Church that are rooted in truth from centuries. No matter what denomination you are, if you are looking to deepen your faith with Jesus or simply learn about the reasonings for Catholic teachings, AscensionBibleCatechism is PERFECT for you.

THE BEST BIBLE APP IVE EVER GOTTEN!

I’ve tried to have a Bible app on my phone for on the go to pray with and become familiar with I stead of scrolling social media. I’ve gone through TONS and never liked the layout, how the notes worked, the highlight colors. But AscensionBibleCatechism!!! I know what the translation is, it’s easy to use, everything is very intuitive, the highlight colors are a nice pastel to catch your attention without being distracting, the notes are easy to use, the layout/font/spacing is easy to read, and we haven’t even got into the other features yet!! Thank you Ascension press for making AscensionBibleCatechism (and the Word of God) both free and subscription free!! I’m also excited to start diving into the Catechism more easily.

By far the best app I downloaded all year

Ascension is an exceptional Catholic app that provides a wealth of knowledge and resources for deepening one’s faith. Its user-friendly interface and well-organized content make it easy to navigate and explore various topics. The daily reflections and readings offer thought-provoking insights and biblical passages, fostering a moment of peace and connection with one’s faith. The inclusion of audio and video resources enhances the learning experience, while AscensionBibleCatechism ’s vibrant community creates opportunities for spiritual growth and connection with fellow Catholics. Overall, Ascension is a transformative and enriching app that I highly recommend for anyone seeking to deepen their spirituality.

Great Addition to the Bible/Catechism in a Year

I have been following the Bible in a Year podcast since the beginning of the year and have loved the peace it brings me each day. AscensionBibleCatechism changes the completely changes the game for the positive. I had been attempting to start the Catechism in a Year along with the Bible but trying to juggle the podcast to do so was cumbersome. AscensionBibleCatechism makes tracking my progress so much easier. Not to mention the ability to highlight and save pertinent scriptures for reflection later. Thanks Ascension, Fr. Mike, and most importantly our Lord for bringing this opportunity for me to grow closer to God through his words.

By

Continuous reading

AscensionBibleCatechism is fantastic and I absolutely love father Mike while he is reading the Bible. His voice is so soothing. I wish the audio would be continuous or a setting to allow the audio to be continuous. As I’m trying to listen to the Bible, it only goes chapter by chapter rather than continuously, reading, one chapter after the other. I went to the Settings and it says there’s an option continuous reading, however, it does not appear to be working to be only for the Bible in a year or the catechism in a year, but it does not seem to work for the audio Bible.

I Love This App!

I have been beta testing AscensionBibleCatechism for months, and it keeps getting better.

First, I love that I don’t have to guess if I picked a Catholic Bible. I used to use another Bible app which had tons (and tons) of versions of the Bible to choose from, and it was very difficult to tell which were Catholic and which weren’t. This Bible App also has the Bible color coded according to the different eras (ie: Early World, Patriarchs, Desert Wonderings, etc).

I love that the Bible in a Year podcast is also included in AscensionBibleCatechism. Along with the podcast is the BIY companion, and each episode is linked to the corresponding pages in the companion or if you prefer in the Bible too.

Those Bible features alone make this a great app for me. Although it does get better, because the Catechism and Catechism in a Year podcasts are also included. As well as answers to common questions. While this is not a one stop find all, it’s focus on the Bible and Catechism really shines.

Beautiful and chock full of goodness

AscensionBibleCatechism just got released today and I’m impressed for a freshly launched app how polished and well thought out it is. The intro before signing up was so well done and helped me understand what I’m signing up for. I usually hate to sign up for something before seeing a preview of it. The layout of the Bible section and the Catechism makes it so easy to look for what you need and there is commentary sprinkled throughout. I love that Fr. Mike Schmitz’s podcasts are included. I look forward to see what shall be in store in future updates!

A Must-Have App for Spiritual Growth!!

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for discovering the Ascension | Bible and Catechism app! AscensionBibleCatechism has truly revolutionized my spiritual journey and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to deepen their faith and understanding of the Bible and the teachings of the Church.

There is an extensive library of resources from Ascension, including the standout feature "Bible in a Year" program with Father Mike Schmitz and Jeff Calvins. They provide amazing commentary and engaging discussions that bring the Scriptures to life. AscensionBibleCatechism sets a new standard in how we embark on a transformative journey of faith. THANK YOU !!!

The basics of the Catholic faith in one place!

I can’t get over the features in AscensionBibleCatechism! It’s like having the basics of the Catholic faith packed in one awesome app! We have access to the complete Great Adventure Bible text and the Ascension Catechism. The Bible includes intros to each period of the Bible Timeline, Key Events, footnotes, additional information such as Bible Answers and commentaries from different sources, like short clips or short commentaries. The Catechism portion includes the sources from Scriptures and other Church documents. AscensionBibleCatechism it’s all you need to read your Bible and learn the faith!

By

Awesome! Recommendation for improvement

AscensionBibleCatechism is awesome, but I’ve found that while reading along with the podcasts using the autoscroll, the audio can sometimes get out of sync with the text. Obviously it’d be a huge undertaking to manually sync every podcast, but maybe a future update could include the ability to adjust the scroll speed without affecting the audio? That way we could sync it back up ourselves. Keep up the great work!

By

Excellent app!!!

I love the productions from Ascension Press. Can’t say enough kudos on this group. This is the missing link I was wishing for. In my car I enjoy the podcasts and I really enjoy the paper version of the Bible.

I’ve been thinking for the past couple of years I sure wish they had an app so I can read when I don’t have access to the books. Boom! This is it! By far AscensionBibleCatechism of the decade for me personally on what I was looking for.

By

Traveling with my Bible and Catechism in a Year audio AND text as well as the ability to take notes!

Often when I travel I don’t have enough room in my carry on for the books and notebooks I like to use for review and reflection. I’d fall behind- and yes anytime you can listen, review and reflect, is a good day- and this will make it so much easier! I cannot wait to try this out! Man, oh, man- Can’t wait to see you tomorrow 😃

Wonderful on-the-go resource

I have both the Great Adventure Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I've been wanting an app for awhile that I can use on the go and this is it. Overall this is a great app. The only negative was trying to find a section for all the bible answers. The daily bible answer on the home page is nice but I was hoping for a searchable section or list. Perhaps is coming in the future?

By

I love that my Bible app has all the books

I grew up Protestant and used the apps without the full canon of the Catholic Church. I am so glad I have found a great app with the full Catholic Bible. I had such a hard time finding it once I converted last year. It would be even better if you could highlight the verse you wanted spoken back to you like you can do in the IPhone settings with text to speech.

By

Fantastic resource!

I was honestly skeptical of if AscensionBibleCatechism would be worth switching from my regular podcast app to listen to BIAY. But after my first day trying it, I am hooked! The transcripts, the annotated readings, the answers to questions are all so helpful and easily accessible while listening to the podcast. I’m so excited to finish out the rest of the year with the help of AscensionBibleCatechism!

By

How Is This Free?

AscensionBibleCatechism has everything you could possibly want to delve deeper into your Catholic faith. Wonderful notes an outstanding edition of the Bible and the catechism as well. Wonderfully laid out, and a joy to use. I just can’t believe that it is free. Definitely worth donating to Ascension for the wonderful work they have done and this beautiful blessing they have given to the world.

By

Outstanding App!

Ascension has hit it out of the park!!! The full Great Adventure Bible, the full Ascension edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, AND Fr. Mike Schmidt’s full Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year podcasts all in one app!!! In addition each episode contains a full transcript of what Fr. Mike has to say, the preview of the day, his prayer, the entire reading for the day and Fr. Mike’s follow-up commentary on what you’ve just heard. Thank you Ascension!!!

By

Love! Love! Love!

I've been searching and searching for an app like this for us Catholics. Best ever! Only thing its missing is support for the iPad and I would love to have a section to be able to listen along to praying the rosary in not just English but in Spanish too. It would be awesome to listen to the Bible in Spanish also. Thank you so much for AscensionBibleCatechism and God Bless.

By

SIMPLY THE BEST!

I’ve used a lot of Bible apps and this is probably my favorite from the short time that I’ve used it! I’ve been dreaming of a “Great Adventure App” and this is simply amazing and powerful to carry in your pocket! Thank you!!!

The only thing I’d add is iPad optimization. AscensionBibleCatechism can be installed on an iPad, but the screen isn’t optimized for it. Still works though! 😁

By

Man, Oh Man! What a Gift.

Thank you for AscensionBibleCatechism. I have been a listener to this podcast now for three years. There were always annoying little issues with the Apple podcast app. Those issues do not exist with your app. I can open AscensionBibleCatechism , press, play, and listen without interruption. I also like the helps within AscensionBibleCatechism . Golly!

An Unparalleled Tool for Spiritual Growth

I’ve been using the Ascension Press app for some time now, and I can confidently affirm that it has been an invaluable tool in nurturing my faith. The complexities of scripture can often be daunting, but AscensionBibleCatechism brilliantly resolves those intricacies, making the words of faith more approachable and digestible.

The thoughtfully structured lessons, comprehensive commentaries, and a wide array of resources have significantly deepened my understanding, shedding light on the profound wisdom contained within Scripture. I appreciate the user-friendly interface and the dedication to delivering quality content that not only enlightens, but truly inspires.

All in all, Ascension Press is much more than an app, it's a companion in my spiritual journey. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to grow and strengthen their faith. It's a spiritual powerhouse in your pocket. Five stars well deserved.

Wonderful resource!

It is so good to have both the Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year podcasts, as well as the accompanying texts and reading plan all in one place! I also really appreciate the Bible Answers from Jeff Cavins, and am looking forward to be able to migrate my progress from Apple to AscensionBibleCatechism . One feature I would request you consider for the future is the ability to switch the display to “dark mode”, with a black background and white text. As a migraine sufferer, it is much easier to read for a prolonged time in this format. God bless you all and thank you so much for AscensionBibleCatechism and all that you do!

By

Wealth of information

I love AscensionBibleCatechism! It’s my go to for Bible and Catechism information. The cross referencing works great and I like the informative answers to things that are sprinkled throughout. It’s really nice that AscensionBibleCatechism is JUST Bible and Catechism because those things in themselves are big enough and I think if there were more things it would be a bit overwhelming (I know they might add Bible studies but I don’t think that will be too crazy). My one suggestion is that I wish there was an archive of past days “Bible answers” because sometimes I don’t get to all of them or I want to go back.

Excellent On the Road Resource

I have been fighting stage III head and neck cancer for the past year. Since receiving the Ascension App it has helped me stay in touch with God and keep up my reading while on the road to treatments. It is a great comfort to be able to read the Bible and work on the Bible in a Year podcast while receiving chemotherapy. I will be beginning the Catechism in a Year podcasts as soon as I am complete. Thank you so much for putting this resource together for practicing christians.

By

Outstanding app!

Our first year with the Catechism in a Year.
Our third year with the Bible in a Year.
Both have our highest recommendation!
AscensionBibleCatechism is an excellent enhancement.
One request Father Mike: Could you possibly make the future 3 or 4 days available each day? That would allow us to listen ahead when we know we will have to miss a day or two, rather than having to play “catch-up” afterwards. Thank You!!

By

Everything you need in one place.

AscensionBibleCatechism gives you access to the Bible with commentary, articles, and cross references AND The Catechism again with introductions and explanations that help you understand what you are reading. It also includes the podcasts for the Bible in a year and the Catechism in a year WITH a link to the companion that includes all the extra information Father Mike shared during the podcast. So many books and resources in one app!

The Bible in a Year and The Catechism in a Year

I love The Bible in a Year and The Catechism is a Year!!
This is my 3rd year following The Bible in a Year. I learn so much listening to Father Mike read the Bible passages and then give an explanation of them. I am, each day, challenged, convicted, drawn to deeper faith and, often, in tears. Same goes for The Catechism in a Year.
My husband and I teach RCIA in our parish and both of these programs help us very much in our teaching, as well.
Thank you Father Mike, Jeff Cavins, John Harden and all of the wonderful people who have worked/are working so hard to bring these programs to those of us who love and are hungering for a deeper knowledge and appreciation of our wonderful Catholic faith!!

By

Look no further

I Can not explain the gratitude and happiness AscensionBibleCatechism provides. If you are studying or following the BIAY or CIAY with Fr. Mike then no need to look any further. AscensionBibleCatechism has the Catechism and the Bible provided for your reference. It also provides the reading plans and companions for both studies.
If you are new to these studies you will be so glad to have downloaded AscensionBibleCatechism. A lot of great thought went into this to help us Christians enrich our understanding of Gods word and plan for us. Thank you Ascension. 🙏🏼

Re-commitment to my Faith

This whole program and apps are so comforting and welcoming. It makes it easy to learn or refresh what I learned years ago. I feel more committed now than since I was young and in School, before the pressures to turn away from Catholicism. I see now how I was influenced by modern media to want to try a more Protestant, lenient version of Christianity. I love getting back in touch with the history of the teaching of the Holy Church.

Clean, simple, and easy to navigate

Clean, simple, and easy to navigate - AscensionBibleCatechism is fantastic straight out of the gate! It’s simplicity makes it a worthy substitute for the Verbum app for mobile bible access (if you don’t need access to other texts/tools/translations). I love the integration and linking of the Catechism as well as the convenience of having the BIY/CIY podcasts built in. The audio availability of bible verses is a nice bonus too.

My only requests that came to mind for future development are 1) an iPad version, please, and 2) a Missal/Lectionary function (menu or widget) that links me to the daily Mass readings.

Review

I have greatly enjoyed and most likely greatly misunderstood the English translations of the Bible. Lately, I was able to compare the English translations with the Hebrew translations of the Tanach. I thought I saw parts that were left out in the English and there just might be parts left out, but now I’m beginning to understand that the chapters aren’t aligned as I thought they were in the beginning. The titles are also different. My wish was that the English translations would be the same as the Hebrew translations, which colored also my understanding as the two languages are so very different.
I want to take this time to express my gratitude for teaching us when there were none to teach us of the Bible writings and to explain what each chapter was about. Thank you so very much and may God bless every one of you who has made this possible.

Clean and organized!

I sincerely appreciate how the Ascension app keeps me on task. I do not get distracted by other podcasts popping up in my usual podcast app or have to worry about the next episode automatically playing. Most importantly, I have access to a tremendous amount of resources in addition to the Bible and catechism in year podcasts. My favorites so far are the Bible and the Catechism themselves and the links. I like that I can pause the podcast and revisit a certain paragraph and then comeback to the audio. These are just the simple things I can write here, I can’t even start talking about the transformation in my heart and everyday life. I am deeply convicted in many areas and have committed to an “ongoing conversation” as Fr Mike likes to put it. May God bless Ascension, may the Lord keep Fr Mike. Keep up the good work.

Bible in a year and catechism in a year

My wife and I listened to the Bible in a year podcast all the way through and liked it so much we started it all over and did a second year. Those two years eniched our life so much that we enrolled in the catechism in a year program and are now on day 202, right on schedule. We just finished the section on the Eucharist and are finishing up the next session, the sacrament of reconciliation. I can’t describe how much I appreciate the work that went into producing these podcasts. I have recommended them to anyone who would listen.

Couldn’t imagine being a day without coffee and Fr Mike!

My husband , each afternoon calls out, “Guess who is here?” my cue to grab my coffee and book and join in listening to Fr Mike. We couldn't imagine a day without fr. Mike
I'm on my second year of a (Bible in a year.) also with Fr Mike. Every church should inform parishioners of these two recorcesu! Most of us seniors , were young when the church made changes in the 60’s in a time we were not encouraged to read the catechism or the Bible , rather just attend a church on Sunday. We truly need to be re- educated in the wonderful Scriptures and knowledge that we need to live in the light and to recognize true teachings in our churches.

Early Users! Beware Bait and Switch and Don't Update!

I subscribed to AscensionBibleCatechism the moment Fr. Mike launched it and excitedly started using it and the Bible in a Year and all of the other content completely for free for months now. Then, today, I was encouraged to update AscensionBibleCatechism with a message to "fix bugs" and now I am being asked to pay $60 a year for what has been free for the early app users. I am completely disgusted with this shameful bait and switch strategy and Ascension and Fr. Mike should be too. Early app users should not be required to pay for content that was once free. If we were told initially it would be switching to paid content eventually that would be understandable but we were NEVER told that and we were made to believe it was free and always would be. I can't see anything Christ like about that kind of behavior. I am disgusted and disappointed. What a shame to bring so many into the Word of God and then turn them away with lies of omission.

By

Bible, catechism and podcast is completely free

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the only thing it’s charging you for is the studies and answers to questions which people have asked. So far I have not encountered any ads either. The Bible can be read to you by Father Mike Schmitz which can be sped up or slowed down if u prefer. There are cross references between the Bible and catechism and it keeps up with ur progress on both the Bible and Catechism in a year podcasts for u. Notifications can be customized to whatever time of day you find most convenient. The only thing that would make it better would be to make it available in Spanish as well.

What a Beautiful Gift to the World

The Bible in a Year app is an incredible gift to anyone who wants to better understand the origin and foundation of their Catholic Christian faith. I’ve always wanted to read the Bible from start to finish but I could never find (ok, “make”) the time. With this FREE app, Father Mike reads the entire Bible in digestible daily chunks and then explains it in understandable terms for us non-scholarly Bible enthusiasts.
You can listen any time you have a free moment and AscensionBibleCatechism always remembers where you left off. Because of this feature I will easily get through the entire Bible in less than a year. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

By

Thank you autoscroll!

I had been listening to the Bible and to the catechism on a different platform, but when this one came out, I downloaded it immediately. I’m such a visual learner, so having the words right in front of me (and not just the text of the Bible or catechism) has really helped me to focus! My favorite feature is that you can have the text up and it autoscrolls! As a new mom, I listen to this when I’m feeding my baby. Having the words scroll for me makes listening, reading, and feeding my baby a breeze!

Thank you to all the developers and all who have worked on AscensionBibleCatechism! God bless!

By

Wonderful!!

AscensionBibleCatechism is fantastic. I really like being able to read the Bible in a Year right along with Fr. Mike, and his explanations at the end have helped me so much to know more and more about God and his Word and his utter unfailing love and mercy for all of us. I hear the joy in Fr. Mike’s voice every day and it makes me feel joyful. Keep praying for us, Fr. Mike. I am praying for you!! It’s also nice to have the Catechism in the same app. Genius!! Not that it isn’t perfect as is, but the addition of a Calendar with dates of Holy Days of Obligation, would be awesome, too. Thank you for this wonderful blessing for all of us and may God bless all of you. ❤️🙏🏻

Game changer!

I have been really happy with the way the text, readings, and study helps are at your fingertips within AscensionBibleCatechism. Having a Catholic Bible and the full Catechism so accessible is such a help. Father Mike Schmitz does a beautiful job narrating and explaining both the Bible and Catechism in a Year content. Ascension really thought of everything when they developed these programs and AscensionBibleCatechism . Knowing you don’t have to pack up your Bible, Catechism, and whatever study you are working on when heading to Bible Study is a game changer! Although I will still probably take all of the tools the Lord has provided! 😊

By

It’s not your fault you tried other Bible apps first.

I used to listen on Apple Podcasts until AscensionBibleCatechism came out then I switched to AscensionBibleCatechism.

There is now a paywall for AscensionBibleCatechism which is where almost all the negative reviews come in. Listen, it’s $60 a year which is $5 a month. I know there are free alternatives but none are better than this. Here’s why

1. Bible in a year timeline
2. Catechism in a year timeline
3. A plethora of study programs for further in depth teachings about books or people.
4. The ability to take notes on any passage, podcast, study, etc.
5. The ability to highlight and bookmark verses
6. It’s easy to navigate
7. The entire Bible has a full audiobook that you can have any book, chapter or verse read to you by Mike Schmitz.
8. There is a search bar where you can find verses for example type in Roman’s 15:13 and it takes you right to it. That or you can put in what you remember from the verse and it will find every verse that contains what you entered in.

For example maybe you know Jesus says “I am the Alpha and Omega”, but you don’t know where or what book. Well you can type in alpha and omega and it’s gonna show you every verse it’s mentioned in. Now you know!
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” - Revelation 22:13

Love it!

I can’t expression my appreciation enough for all those who have worked to put AscensionBibleCatechism out!!!! This is fantastic! I used it for free for a couple of weeks, but then I had to take the plunge and buy the extra features.
If you love countless hours of dynamic teaching, friends, this is it! I haven’t listened to all of it, but I find myself hanging onto every word. I love it! Thanks again Father Mike Schmitz, Jeff Calvins, and all those at Ascension press! This has been a little kiss from Heaven in my life. May God continue to open doors and do an amazing work through this beautiful ministry.
I’d recommend it to anyone who loves Jesus and wants to dive deeper into the word. Listen to the BIAY and the CIAY first on AscensionBibleCatechism. I promise you, it won’t be enough.

Thank you 🙏

I absolutely love AscensionBibleCatechism and your mission this is incredible and what I’ve been hoping someone would do for a long time! The Catholic faith needs to reach out to people where they are at, and technology is where they are in the way to integrate faith and understanding into today’s society! I am so happy with what you all have done and it’s such a monumental achievement!! I have one ask that on the iPad it can be fixed so it flips around in landscape so it can be used while in that format. But this is by far the best bible app I have ever used and as a Catholic I feel supported because obviously it’s much more then just a bible app but help to present to fullness of our faith so that we might have the ability to dive in and study with in the comfort of our own places. Thank you and my God continue to bless you all the Church and the great work you have done!

Just what I needed

My life has changed because of BIY and CIY! It’s incremental, not with a bang or lightening, but in little ways. Little ways that add up to me being a better person, more knowledgeable about being a Catholic, why I am a Catholic and how the Catechism and the Bible inform everything thing I do. When I was younger and going to parochial schools we heard the gospel at Mass, but it ended there. I am so grateful that I can read it everyday, anywhere, anytime Fr. Mike and Jeff Cavins have made it a joy and a wonderful blessing. I recommend it and also check out the Hallow app. It’s The most amazing compilation of prayer, meditation, and faith based knowledge from people who love God and want to share it with you. It It’s not preaching, its joyful, contemplative and a wonderful respite from the clutter of the world.

Bible in a Year Podcast

I absolutely LOVE Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike. It’s been such a blessing since reverting back to Catholicism. I get excited to read scripture in the morning and letting the Word of God give me revelation and shape my heart to be more like His. Love the reflection, commentary and prayers from Fr. Mike. I know God is using him to do the work for His kingdom through this podcast. I also recently subscribed to get the full access of the Ascension app and I definitely recommend if your able to subscribe. They have so much bonus content for you to listen and read up on that would benefit if you’re really getting into studying scripture. I love it!

Life Changing

We’re always hearing people talk about their adventures and vacations, their bucket lists and retirement dreams. When I heard about The Bible in a Year, I knew this was more for me. When I looked for AscensionBibleCatechism , I also found The Catechism in a Year. I felt that if God bothered to create me and keep me breathing every day, the least I could do is read the Bible he inspired for my benefit.

And whatever my feelings on moral and Christian issues, the least I could do is find out what Jesus actually taught the apostles, contained in the Catechism, to inform the decisions for the way I live my life. The Catechism is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. Talk about uplifting! What good is the best vacation on the planet if you don’t know “God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life,” 1 CCC. I listened to them both in a year, many times in the car. Fr. Mike is phenomenal. You will love him. And you will really love understanding how much God really loves you.

Brilliant. Every Christian Needs This.

This is one of those resources that makes me feel blessed to be alive at such a time that this is available to the world. Not only does every Christian need this, but anyone - Christian or not - who is curious about the Bible and/or Catholic Catechism and wants to do a deep, guided, easy to understand dive through them. AscensionBibleCatechism works beautifully and has all the dimensions needed for a thorough, layman’s read of the Bible, Catechism, and other Christian resources. It even accommodates your personal notes and thoughts as you study along. Special thanks to the developers, Fr. Mike, Jeff Cavins, and all the good people at Ascension for making this possible. God bless you.

Ascension is best because..

AscensionBibleCatechism has the Bible in it, but it also has the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Both were built to tell the truth and speak volumes about the reality of GOD. The intention tho, is to bring you back to GOD in His Church, which is Earth’s touch point of the Heaven waiting for His anointed ones. Who can explain it better than GOD himself? Waiting to reveal Himself through His Word, the Light of Men is His Word. It takes some time to get through it, and this is the best app for it. It’s the most thorough, complete, and honest hope of all mankind. Make a daily journey, and “feel the difference, on the inside.” Ascension is honestly the best, most scroll-worthy app of the year.

Love it!

I love AscensionBibleCatechism. It has become my number one bible app, I've deleted my other ones. It has SO MUCH information! I couldn't recommend it enough.

For the developers: there's two ways I can think that you could make AscensionBibleCatechism even better. 1) If I were able to write hand written notes on the bible itself, like it were a real bible. This wouldn't replace the typed note section, but if I could easily just highlight with my apple pencil on my ipad and write quick notes, it would make reading and studying easier. 2) widgets! I love the YouVersion bible app because it allows verse of the day widgets. If this was added, it would be great!

Love it, great content. One question…

Downloaded AscensionBibleCatechism for Fr. Mike’s BIY podcast. Full access paid subscriber. Works wonderfully, able to see additional comment with easy swipes. Their written support material was also very good, including their Bible. And the additional studies they offer are great! One question - I plan on starting BIY again, next month, expect to get even more out if it. But my wife plans on starting it also on her iPad - already downloaded and signed in on my account. Is there a way for two people to do BIY under one full access account but maintain separate bookmarks where they left off? A second authorized user? We could do one manually (probably me since I’m used to it) but it would be a nice feature if two could do it at their own speed. Thanks!

A little pricey, but well worth it!

I’ve tried the Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year before and failed. Sometimes I would fall behind, but honestly, I just got tired of trying to find the podcast I needed that day or where we were supposed to be. I downloaded the course guide, and that was some help, but I just needed more organization in my life.

So I downloaded the Ascension App, and I don’t know how I lived without it. Every day, I just open AscensionBibleCatechism , I know what my readings are and even what my daily Mass readings are. This is a one-stop-shop for practicing Catholics. The fact that you can go deeper into topics and watch related content is even better. If AscensionBibleCatechism had a daily Rosary built in, I would be set!

There are sooooo many apps out their competing for Catholic’s attention right now, some free, some pay, and some are good and others are a waste of time. I would use AscensionBibleCatechism every day, so it is totally worth the price. People that might complain about the price, maybe they should drop a streaming service or two, or not buy that expensive coffee every morning. It’s worth the sacrifice to have an app that organizes your spiritual study life.

Looking forward to Mass with Father Mike

I am disabled no car no money but Father Mikes sermons are the best. Today he is trying to make us all believe we can be saints. Wonderful. Like a mothers love there is no circumstance than can hurt it tarnish it or break that bond . That is God’s grace . Agape. Now, when we. talk Divinity image that bond. We can’t. But it exists. My mom used to say to me when I complained about a circumstance “ consider the lilies of the field” God takes care of them and yet you are His child. Imagine the care He takes of you. So Father Mike I continue to be inspired from your garage church with college kids and I am closer to 70 than 20. My best remembrance of Father Mike delivering an anecdote to His sermon was when he was in the Newman house going up the stairs to bed. One kid said unconsciously “ night Dad” two words than made Him the happiest priest on earth. That kid saw Father Mike he gave him a nickname because of his affection. That word Dad cemented Father Mike was in the exact place God wanted him. His joy was so pure it was God giving happy a new definition. That’s how good a priest he is I can only imagine that smile as he closed his eyes. Thanks “Dad.”

Wow! Make straight the path

I am on Bible in Year my second time and have finished Catechism in a year.

I grew up Irish Catholic and had a strong faith that drifted in my youth. Then I started to come back to the church in the last few years. This has been amazing.

By listening to scripture and interacting my heart has been changed.

Fr Mike and Jeff Cavins are excellent guides. Getting you over speed bumps, helping to interpret in context the that can get lost or even misconstrued. I mean, let’s face it, they call it Numbers for a reason, and then you get it a second time in Deuteronomy. It’s easy to lose the forest in the trees.

However, using that example, the reason for all the numbers is that everyone matters. Even the least prominent person. He has counted the hairs on our heads. We belong to God.

All of this gets tied together, as the chapters fly by. Remember God is the one that initiates. You wanting to pray, you reading this, is God working through YOU inviting YOU to him. He has his arm outstretched to you. All you have to do, is say YES.

Keep getting better

AscensionBibleCatechism just keeps getting better. The Bible studies alone are worth every penny of the cost of AscensionBibleCatechism , let alone all the other great content. I am doing BIAY for the second time and AscensionBibleCatechism has the best navigation of that podcast I have found. The next one just pops up, no scrolling, no trying to remember what day you are on. I have just discovered the daily verse that you can pray with, which I really like, because it makes you really slow down and read and reread. I feel like I have actually prayed it, not just read it over and over. There are a few good Catholic apps out there but this has really risen to the top for me. Keep up the good work!

Cannot say enough

Father Mike has the most eloquent, respectful and most appropriate words in using examples and comments to reflect either the BIY or CIY podcast daily sessions. Man oh man, he never fails to impress me with his understanding of us, God’s people. I have learned so much and continue to learn. I have finished BIY and am currently doing CIY. I believe it is best to do the both and in this order. His humor is such an added bonus. I laugh a lot. Having a much better understanding of the Old Testament, the prophets and all of the books in the Bible, helps me better understand and appreciate Mass as well as understanding how deeply God loves us. We hear the words that God loves us, but the understanding deepens tremendously when you read/listen to Fr. Mike going through the Bible and the Catechism. Highly recommend every person on Earth to these podcast series. Thank you Fr. Mike and to you all at Ascension Press. God Bless you all!
