Since yesterdays update, app doesn’t pull any data from the battery

Yesterday, EpochLiion had the worst Bluetooth connectivity interface in the history of mankind, in that you could never reconnect upon app minimization, EpochLiion would show Bluetooth devices having nothing to do with Epoch, including Bluetooth headphones, etc., and it would “favorite” your device, so you’d have to select it every time. But at least once you got connected it would pull all the pertinent data from the battery. Today, it has an all new look to it….and it doesn’t work at all. Battery shows 0%, no voltage, no data whatsoever. So amazingly, despite the Bluetooth interface before, it was actually better than it is now.

I emailed customer support with my thoughts on EpochLiion a week ago, mostly as a test of their customer service department, and have not heard back. This is not good, and is very telling to me for what I can expect if I ever have a problem with the battery.

Incorrect information with multiple batteries

With 3 460Ah batteries in series can only see information from host battery. The other two show the same information. If I kill EpochLiion and connect to either of the slave no information is displayed. Cannot trust the information provided. Even when the shunt shows 60% EpochLiion shows 100% SOC and the charge Mos off. No answer from support.

No data

Would rate 0 stars if I could. With the most recent update, I see no data on my batteries. I guess the the one star is for the new design which looks nice, look forward to using it someday. Please roll out the old app so those of us who can’t see data can at least manage our batteries effectively.

They ruined it!

EpochLiion used to be useful. It used to give the time till discharge or charge. It used to give all the details and info on one screen. Now it is all graphics that are useless! If it doesn’t get changed back to something that resembles the old app I will never purchase another epoch battery again.

6/24 app update lost all use

While the older app had its limits, especially with Bluetooth, the new app is unusable. I was very surprised when I opened up EpochLiion to check on battery status and no usable information was available. It shows my battery has been discharged, nor does it show it being charged when connected to a charger.

Can’t connect to the Bluetooth

I read the reviews and was like how bad can it be, connecting to Bluetooth is about as basic as it gets. Apparently not…. EpochLiion is shockingly bad. It connects to the Bluetooth and then immediately disconnects. I’ve tried multiple times with no luck. Absolutely terrible app. Again connecting to Bluetooth is as basic as it gets for 20 years now. Please fix!?!

New update brings dated UI and removes features

Before the latest update my biggest complaint about EpochLiion was it didn’t remember bluetooth devices. Every other app lets you add the bluetooth device and can connect back when you open EpochLiion . Not EpochLiion.

Then the update (reskin)… the UI has been revamped to be these ugly 3d graphics which add very little and give off 2006 UI vibes. I would have survived these updates if they didn’t remove useful information like the time until the battery will die based on the current usage. Additionally its just a sloppy UI with backwards animations like the battery charging upwards when its being drained…

Overall just disappointed they spent resources on a useless reskin instead of improving useful functionality.

Bring back the old app

The batteries are rock solid, but I agree with most of the posts about the new app. The old app had a feature to tell you how many hours minutes were remaining at the current discharge rate. Also showed you how long it would take once you’re charging to charge up the battery. Those two statistics were awesome to have. Please bring them back!

Also, what is the “Advanced setting” password? In that part of EpochLiion , (once the password is known), does that area give more data or configuration parameters? Your user manual doesn’t talk about this part of EpochLiion .

Terrible Update

The previous app had its issues but at least it showed all the critical info that battery owners really need.

The new update is so bad i’m not even sure where to begin. Who’s Great idea was it to remove and separate most of the important information and add some disconnected, irrelevent graphical interface that no one asked for. It’s so bad im actually a bit astonished that epoch could produce this garbage or let it pass onto their customers.

all they had to do was fix and tweak the old app a little. Instead we got some colorful, flashy whatever you want to call it mostly useless garbage.

was going to buy a couple more batteries from epoch, but now i’m starting to question the leadership over there and potentially the product.

EpochLiion seems really disconnected from its users who understand what lithium batteries are and how to care for them and instead is trying to make some flashy gimmick to wow the ones that don’t.

At the very least epoch should release the old app as a separate app so those of us who manage our batteries can have something useful to use and those that love pretty, flashing colors can have the new version.

Does not always reflect true battery charge.

My app was showing 70% left on the battery yet the battery was dead. At no time did EpochLiion show that the levels were declining. Battery died, app read 70%.

I would not depend on EpochLiion especially if you use it in situations such as electric water motors. It left me stranded.

460 V2

I bought this great battery however EpochLiion is horrible. It says be within 10 meters to connect but I have to be within 3 ft or the device can’t find the battery. Another problem is it automatically turn off after a minute so when your looking at different screen you have to go back and turn it on again. I wish I would have bought the cheaper battery and put an eviction shunt and saved money. Also can’t update because it wants a password that’s supposedly not required. Horribly disappointing

Bad battery information

That app used to work, but now I have no idea where my battery state of charge stands. Seems like good batteries, but horrible app now. For so many Epoch customers this Needs to fix quick.

12/19/24. Update
Finally got an update for the epoch app. Charging time and discharge time have been fixed. EpochLiion load time is faster. Thank you

Great way to start the LiFePo4 journey

EpochLiion is a great way to break into the li-ion arena. It gives you what you need and more, showing state of charge, rate of charge, cell balance, alarms, everything you really could need plus more. It’s a little weak on range and does disconnect pretty quickly but it works great as a stepping stone to a more integrated system. Even now that I have the full Victron connection to my Epoch BMS, the Li-Ion app still gets used for some data that Victron doesn’t show. Keep the updates coming!

Epoch

First off, the LFP batteries from Epoch are extremely well built and are game changing technology onboard your boat or RV.
EpochLiion is the icing on the cake and gives a good amount of real time information about your battery right on your phone. Connecting via Bluetooth is easy although range is not the best.

Great app

Shows much more than just state of charge! It compliments my Victron BVM-712 shunt because the battery’s own shunts are many times more reliable and gives me more information on the battery cells themselves.

Great batteries and great customer service.

Epoch batteries are the only brand that I will buy. I love mine so much. They are very responsive if you have any questions and EpochLiion is super handy to see what is happening with the battery.

Easy information

EpochLiion gives quick charge info. Very easy to use while on the boat.

Great App

Always quick to connect and give me reliable information. Love the fact that I can monitor my power left in the water.

Customer Service

Customer service with EpochLiion/batteries is outstanding. Battery and equipment are high quality!

Solid batteries great interface

Great build to last batteries with app interface and good customer support.
