I used to actually see messages with the widget. Now I only see an enormous yellow panel and red heart, which opens the app.
Having purchased several love boxes for family members, I have been disappointed from day 1, when it became obvious that on top of countless hundreds of dollars for the boxes, I’d have to opt in to a predatory subscription to make those items of any value.
Now with this app, the supposed big benefit of their recent upgrade can be summarized as follows: “we just gutted the previous version so you can have a huge blight on your Home Screen to open the app instead of relying on the app’s built-in icon. It’s, like, progress or something.”
I have yet to see ANYTHING come from this company signifying an improvement or benefit. Based on this app’s update, I’m resignedly waiting for their next lovebox update, the one where their $200 boxes are upgraded to have a static, unchanging screen that links to their mobile app, along with an additional monetization practice that doubles the cost already added to that associated with the cost of their hardware. That will be really cutting edge, when I can pay for subscriptions to enable my family to receive their messages, instead of only paying $50 to send them.

I gave this app 5 stars in the past and even sent in positive feedback when prompted shortly after their launch. Now, I am rating it 1 star and plan on deleting it if the trajectory continues to become what it has been.
First, accounts are attached to your phone number with no option to create an account with an email address or password. What happens if you get a new phone number is obvious. I also don’t like how my contacts are automatically uploaded into the app now. I invited people in the past without your app having access to my entire contacts list. It’s too invasive.
Second, I am forced to see the “Communities” tab/feed upon launching the app instead of my “Friends” feed as it was before. I am not interested in creating or joining a community so seeing my friends feed with the community feature as an option rather than making it mandatory you view it seems like common sense - unless you are trying to force people to join or create one. No thanks.
Third, they have now made it so any image someone sends you has to be “pinned” or else you’re met with a message inside the widget forcing you to pin a message/picture to eliminate it. I started pinning things to stop seeing this message, but now if I or a friend goes longer than ONE DAY of not sending anything, the message tells you that your friends miss you so open the app to send good vibes. If I pin an image because you’ve now made it mandatory, stop unpinning the message forcing me to send or pin something AGAIN.
This app was fun initially, but forcing people to continuously open your app to eliminate these annoying messages that keep clogging up the widget is not the way to go. Some of us want to be able to use this app at our leisure and not be burdened with all of these social aspects that already exist on other apps. Growth is good, but not at the expense of forcing features on users that end up making them delete it.

In my previous review, I mentioned these weird updates the developers keep doing where you are now forced keep repinning new posts every few hours and were forced to see the “Communities” tab immediately upon launching the app. I removed the widget from my Home Screen due to the incessant notifications and resetting of pics my friends send me returning to a default Favily image telling me to pin another image. No.
Now, I’m addition to the “Communities” tab they forced you to see upon launching the app, they have now added a third tab labeled “All” that you see when launching the app. Here’s the thing - some of us, want to be able to see our actual FRIENDS tab when we launch the app and not tabs or images from random people we have no interest in or don’t know. Engaging with tabs of posts from strangers should be optional, not something you force on users and the developers keep clogging up the app with more and more of this “social engagement” nonsense.
I would say stop trying to become Instagram, but I no longer care since I deleted the app.
