I got two different results for the same object, which is made of hematite, and both were inaccurate. The app first said it was aegerine, which is nowhere near right. Then it said it was magnetite, the most magnetic mineral in nature. The object is not magnetic in the least. The third result was magnetite again. All photos were taken in three different types of lighting on two different backgrounds. I had high hopes for this app, but I can’t even adjust lighting or conditions to rephotograph the object in hopes it would finally hit accurately because it’s limited to three tries per day. I’ve seen the developers’ replies to other reviewers suggesting the reviewers were simply wrong about their own gemstones, but the app is simply not accurate.

I tried the 7 day trial and removed it after using it for an hour!! Anything purple was identified as amethyst, it was lepidolite, 3 separate pieces! White ivory and selenite were identified as moonstone. I get my crystals from reputable dealers, so I know what they are. I had hoped this app would help me identify some items I couldn’t identify or remember, but it clearly couldn’t identify simple ceyatals.

It will get very simple stones correct, but nothing that is more rare or could possible be another stone. Does not allow for multiple options of the stone since some look like the other.
