🏷️ About:
Oko is a AI driven navigation app that helps you navigate and explore your environment with confidence. Simply search your destination to receive detailed, turn-by-turn directions.
Oko is still under development and does not work in the states of California or Arizona and Nevada you will not be able to get directions to and from anywhere as Oko literally says maps is unavailable in every city that I’ve traveled through Oko needs a major overhaul to make it as great and ambitious as the fake reviewers claim they get I can honestly say from trying to use Oko it’s a complete waste of your space on your personal devices instead use your preferred navigation app Oko will not work for you as much as you see the pictures of Oko they are completely A.I Generated pictures.

It's clearly made by sided people who think they know what blind people are going to find useful. The only reason I'm not giving this a 1 out of 5 is because if you get lucky and can even find the pedestrian signal alert button on screen amidst some sprawling map of all the roads in your entire town, then it might prove useful. But beyond that Oko just keeps getting worse with every new bell and whistle added. Hopefully somebody else develops a pedestrian signal alert app that can "keep it simple stupid."
A quick note of thanks

Please allow for no audio

Hello, Oko has worked really well, during the day at least. And I think it has a lot of potential. Please allow a setting to turn off audio and use haptics only. For those of us that are hot and use hearing aids, the constant beeping in our ears is distracting and dangerous. I try to turn the volume all the way down, but it won’t let me and then gives me a pop up warning that says “audio volume is very low.” Well, not low enough. I cannot hear ambient cars if that is in my ear. Trust that for Deafblind folks, haptics is absolutely enough. EDIT: I do see that you do have an audio off setting now, but it defaults back to ON whenever I flip back and forth between nav apps and Oko, so practically every intersection. Maybe this is a bug? Another suggestion would be to work with other nav apos like Seeing Eye, Blind square, etc. to embed your app within theirs. I use seeing eye because it works fairly well with braille, but to switch it back and forth at each intersection is a bit clunky and can lose your place on the nav apps. Other than that, very good app!
I think the this app app is a great application, however, I have also noticed that there is no ability for hands-free use of Oko , this could pose a problem when walking on the street when you need to push an audible crosswalk button to be able to cross the road.
I feel so much safer now

Oko was recommended to me by my mobility trainer after a really scary intersection, crossing in the middle of a big city with a crosswalk that did not make any sound when it was time to cross. I love having this when I have to cross intersections that are not disability friendly. My only complaint is that different lighting situations are not reliable, and if there are more than a few lanes, Oko sometimes just continuously says it’s not safe to Cross? instead of simply telling me that it’s not workin
Game changer

I have just recently over the past two weeks started using this app, and I can honestly say this is a game changing app. it’s almost like having an audible pedestrian signal right in your hand. Plus, it is super simple to use. combined Oko with the mobility skills that I already have, and my independence to get around has just grown exponentially.
Amazing, very helpful

I was introduced to Oko by my orientation and mobility specialist, and since then have found it extremely useful. I like that it has not only auditory but also haptic feedback, which is very helpful in loud intersections. The other main thing I like about it is that it signals, along with the surge of parallel traffic, and not the second that the APS system changes. Very useful tool!
Fantastic application for blind and low vision users

I wanted something like this for a long time. Since I can’t see the crossing signals, I would typically use my Magnifier app to locate and magnify the signal so I can see it and then when it’s safe to cross now, Oko picks up the signal well before I reach the curb and let me know what the current state of the crossing signal is when a single changes to walk, I am immediately notified and can proceed across the street as long as the camera can focus on the signal the application quickly communicates changes in the crossing signal.
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER FOR TGE SAFETY OF BLIND AND LOW VISION USERE EVERY WHERE!!!!!!!
In a world where not all traffic signals and crossing options are accessible for those of us who are blind or visually impaired, OK oh offers an intuitive tool for those of us privileged with smart phones to access, crossings, audibly, and hectically without having to locate traffic lights to push buttons, and even where there are none. Oko is easy to set up, intuitive to use and surprisingly free. Access isn't just about technology that works for blind people, it's about affordability and easy use. OK has it all.
Game changer for crossing the street!

I’ve been using Oko for a few months, and it’s honestly the best assistive app I’ve used. I live in a major city, but not all the crosswalks around me have a button with audio feedback to let me know when to cross. Oko has allowed me to take routes I used to avoid because I didn’t feel safe safe crossing at those intersections. Thank you this app!
Fast and accurate

I like that Oko does one thing and does it very well. It opens up fast and gives almost immediate feed back as to the status of the traffic signal. It helps me confirm that my sense of the walk signal status is correct.

I enjoy walking outdoors every afternoon. That's what this app is useful for me. It works well during the day. I may soon try hanging it out to see how it works at night. Thank you so much for your contributions to our visually impaired and blind community.
Oko gives excellent, audible feedback, so that blind people can know what the traffic signal is doing even when there is no traffic. I have used it with a variety of intersections, and I have found it to be accurate. The only mistake it has made is to not give any feedback, even when it should have. However, after reporting this to the developers, the problem was solved in just a day or two. Nothing is a substitute for good Kane skills, but Oko is definitely an asset to have in one’s travel toolbox.

Oko is new to me and has already found itself super helpful in so many ways. Ideal for traveling in areas where traffic flows have changed or in unfamiliar crossings, this allows a greater sense of confidence when navigating crossings!

In a world where many apps try to be all things to all people, OKOh is delightfully simple. It does what it says it does. It accurately and quickly identifies the state of traffic lights. In my experience, it was able to do this from a great distance, which can often be helpful when you are approaching an intersection.
I am very picky when it comes to my apps, and I am usually very quickly disappointed by the trendy and new. In this case, though, I was delighted by my first experience with this app and it has now become a permanent fixture in my travel toolbox. Great work!
An amazing tool to aid and ones independent journey

Oko has given me so much more confidence in crossing streets than I have ever had in many years. Much like anything else, this is a tool. But this tool, along with my hearing and paint attention to my surroundings, allows me more functionality in life, when walking up and down major roads/streets.
I have enjoyed using Oko. It will allow me to cross additional streets that I thought I would have trouble crossing. in the places where I have used it, the signals have been spot on to let me know when it is safe to cross. I am looking forward to future enhancements and the vision from the founders for Oko.
Great app!

This is one of the best apps I've ever tried. It has been quite reliable. The fact that everything is onboard Oko making it so that it's almost immediately responsive and not requiring an internet connection makes it all the better!
provides useful information that a blind person can use to evaluate when it is safe to cross

Oko increases my confidence when crossing streets. I can now ensure that both the walk signal is on, and that I feel that it is safe to cross via listening. There are some situations Oko helps where listening may be difficult such as leading pedestrian intervals where pedestrians are given a walk before parallel traffic moves. Oko is also extremely helpful in understanding traffic patterns at unfamiliar intersections.

Oko is very useful to use when in particular situations when exploring or walking somewhere. The program I am in uses it regularly when walking during our O&M class.
