Writer s Companion Reviews

WritersCompanion has a lot of features that I have been looking for. However, it has no way to export the information and the projects which means if I stop paying for it for any reason at all, I lose everything that I’ve worked on. If a way is made to export the material and work I’ve done so I can continue to use it along side my story as I write, I will change my rating and give it more stars. As it is I think it wouldn’t be a great investment of my money.

Every item is cut off and you have to click on it to see the entire text if it’s longer than a sentence, and as someone who likes to see everything in one place, streamlined (like a plot for instance) that is really irritating.

I can see it being somewhat useful, but if you want to plot and you want to be able to read through it in one go without clicking every single point, use Omniwriter.

I’ve come across different apps and most don’t have the platform of a visual file system basically that this has. Although, for the worldbuilding it would help a lot that if the icons could be a custom image option rather then just the featured icons.

I really just started using WritersCompanion and it’s been a game changer. It’s been hard to find an app that lets me organize easily. If you plan to update WritersCompanion in the future I totally recommend letting us add more pictures.

Idk this seems like a new app so it has some aspects that i expect to be better at some point but WritersCompanion has definitely helped me in my world building.

To start, I do pay for WritersCompanion, I can't remember the benefits for paying but its nice to support the creator! WritersCompanion was still useful to me even before I started paying for it so I highly recommend! It really helps with starting to map out details of a story and really pushes you to get started. But for long term usage I can see some areas that need to be improved in my opinion

First: Notes
The notes section is useful, but I find myself wanting to group similar notes together, like note categories. For example if I write a few notes about characters that I don't want to put in my specific character tab or chapter, I wish i could create a type of notes folder where I can keep all similar notes.

Second: World-Building
I only have a few world-building tabs, but I wish I could re-order them. They are ordered by what tab was created first, which can be irritating as I later find myself wanting to organize the order they are listed.(Example: Characters,Secondary Characters, Minor..etc) I also would like to reorder elements I add to categories (Character 1, 2, 3 etc)

Overall: I also wish there was more ability to color code. After adding a category to world-building, each element I add should be able to be color coded, instead of everything being white with blue headlines when you click into it.
It would also be neat to have WritersCompanion track how much you type each day, without having to create a goal (as I tend to forget about goal setting and write when I have time)

I might be missing some tips that would help me but thats just my take! I really like WritersCompanion and its the first writing app Ive used, so I am sticking with it! I havent used every feature yet so I might another review down the road. Regardless if you need help getting your story organized I highly recommend!

I’ve only just started using WritersCompanion in the last 5 days and I’ve already planned out 15 chapters and multiple characters! This has really changed my approach to planning out my stories and it’s a game changer! I love the ability to put an overview about the character’s roles and that I can add character traits like love interests and plot twists! I also love that you can include a picture of your character as well, which works to my advantage as an aspiring comic book artist! I also enjoy the ability to organize multiple stories as I often have several story ideas in the works, WritersCompanion is really well formatted!

Love how easy everything is to plan and organize. Exactly what I want out of a writer’s companion. Doesn’t try to be more than it needs to be. Amazing!!!

I highly recommend WritersCompanion to anyone who enjoys writing.
