It’s a fun idea, but the $7,99 weekly subscription fee is just designed to get people that forget to unsubscribe during the free trial. Can’t believe Apple just allows apps to get away with stuff like this! If you start the free trial remember to unsubscribe right away, you’ll still get to keep the free trial and it won’t automatically charge you at the end.
MovieNight is somehow more expensive than netflix’s cheapest option
To pay 8$ a week( 32$ a month) for MovieNight to decide what move I gonna watch …lol. Netflix, HBO and many other app together would cost less…. Nice try tho but would not suggest MovieNight unless it’s free
Needs a subscription after the first 2 days. Waste of time.
Great idea but should be free.
They try to charge you right off the bat. Why pay $ when there are other options that do this for free (and better!)
Making people pay weekly for a movie suggestions is crazy
I was very excited to share this with my wife and immediately disappointed to find that it charges $8 a WEEK after the initial trial. We decided to not even use it at that point. That is more than our subscriptions to actually view the movie and other reviews are stating that it doesn’t even have many options to use..
You only have a few free swipes…pay, to find a movie to watch…takes just as long as just looking for a movie to watch or going to your backlog. Stupid app and pointless.
Downloaded MovieNight because the idea is cool then it said I have to pay a subscription. There’s no way I’m paying for a subscription for an app like this. Not to mention the ridiculous price they want, $8 PER WEEK! That’s right per week. That makes MovieNight $32 per month. I don’t even pay that much for 2 subscriptions to actually watch the movie. MovieNight will be dead in the water when someone comes along and remakes it and it’s free
The fact y’all want to charge $32 a month for a basic app is just a ridiculous way to pocket quick cash. Why everything has turned to a subscription based financial scheme is beyond me. HOWEVER, they do offer a year for $50 instead BUT they hide it… gotta love companies who bank on people forgetting they have a subscription to pocket more cash.
MovieNight sucks—it is not what the showed it to be in an ad I saw on tik tok. Not only do they not have any new movies, (but movies from 1990) but also, the picture of the movie is terrible quality and sometimes you can barely read what it says. You have to click into it to even read what the movie is about making the process of swiping take a long time. The thing that cuts me the most is that I signed up for a free trial, instead of warning me that my free trial is up, they just charged me for a week of their worthless app which I didn’t even use but the one time. A week is supposed to be only $7.99 and they charged me $8.66. The only way MovieNight can make money is by scamming people do not get it.
I get the premise and it’s a cute idea but even if it does everything it claims it does, it’s definitely not worth $32 a month. I wouldn’t even get it for $8 a month but they charge $8 a week! They Totally over charge and are delusional if they think they will get customers that keep MovieNight for more than a month.
MovieNight is to CHOOSE a movie to watch, NOT to actually watch said movie, wants you to pay $7.99 A WEEK to view lists. Eight bucks a week?! Are you insane? I’ll just continue to follow movie reviewers on TikTok for free thanks.
Great concept for an app but terrible execution. All of the visual design (logo, loading screen art, etc.) is just crappily made by AI because the developers don't want authenticity and just wanted to cut costs and get MovieNight running as soon as possible. Also MovieNight is free but you're stopped immediately by a subscription paywall. Terrible app. Deleted immediately.
EDIT: "We strive for authenticity and quality in our design" ... No you absolutely do not. If you cared, then you'd hire a professional or a commissioner to create your designs. AI has ruined opportunities for people that went to college for Graphic Design and UX/UI Design, and you're part of the problem.
feels like a sketchy foreign data grab/cash grab. better options out there fr. no thanks.
Use to be an amazing app but now it won’t let me pick movies with friends without trying to force me to pay for a subscription. The subscription is terribly expensive and not worth it
Cost a lot of $$ to do anything
Start advertising that a subscription is required so I can stop wasting my time downloading useless apps. App is a waste without a monthly fee. ZERO STARS.
Has an option to not opt into free trial, but its not like you get to see a limited version of MovieNight , you literally just still have to pay but lose the free trial. $50 per year is insane, and even more so for a basic app like this.
Cool concept… But $32 a month?? In what world would I pay that??
Saw this as an ad on TikTok and was so excited to use this but they push so hard to get you to subscribe that it makes it not worth it. If you and another person are swiping on movies you only get a limited amount of movies shown to you for free -and- only a limited amount of matches until they make you pay. I’d be willing to pay but $8 a WEEK is so outrageous… put ads on MovieNight or something
I’d like it if it wasn’t insanely over priced at over $20 a month is pretty crazy. Plus a lot of the content is AI generated in MovieNight making it feel like a cash grab for what it currently is
MovieNight is a great idea to have a fun way to discover and decide on a movie to watch with a friend or loved one. But the execution is not very good as all the movies are blockbusters from the last 20 years or so which most people have probably already seen. Even worse, MovieNight awkwardly tries to get you to subscribe to its service for $8 a WEEK, or $32 a MONTH! What?! You could get a couple different streaming apps to WATCH the movies for that much money. MovieNight should be free with ads so a subscription model at all is just a shameless cash grab. But especially $32 bucks a month is insane. I guess they hope they can trick enough people into not cancelling before they charge them? Because that makes no sense from a sustainable business or consumer perspective.
i LOVE MovieNight and honestly im addicted, i have the free version and it works fine! the only thing is some of the movies i swipe on keep coming back! i don’t understand why they have shown me the same movies over and over again but i still love MovieNight so much!
Really fun idea for a date night but cost $8 a week which is crazy
I love getting to swipe through movies to create the “Favorites” and “Watchlist”. But then I want to use that watchlist to pick a movie! Or at the very least, I want a way to download or share my watchlist - perhaps as a CSV or something. Please add this feature and I will up to 5 stars and share with everyone!
My friend and I struggled to find a movie to watch because MovieNight kept recommending movies with average ratings of 4/10 stars. Filtering by release year is fine, but MovieNight needs to have a quality filter too!
It’s cool
I love it , it’s so fun to just find new movies I never thought about to watch
THIS IS GENUIS
It’s fun and interactive it’s not as simple as I thought it would be. Sure, more features could be added but the games are quite interesting. The two star and one star reviews made no sense.
Now me and my friends don’t need to spend hours arguing about which movie to watch
This is a fire way to find a movie for the family keep up the good work!
5 star
