Love the app and concept, but variety need work

Yeah… its a lovely app way better than any other ones I’ve tried and used. However the variety of food and meals is really low and limited, there’s even American dishes I can’t find. NutritionCoach is great in every other concept except that. If a user can’t find the exact meal on the search, they would have to just go with the closes one there is which obviously won’t be accurate to what they actually consumed. I’m Dominican so many of the meals I eat are Hispanic, I don’t feel like I’m putting in anything accurately because there sometime isn’t an equivalent of my dish to an American one and never the exact dish I’m eating it just generalizes it as Spanish rice or Mexican rice. There many different types of “Mexican” or “Spanish” rice they can’t all just fall into one simple category. If it’s possible please work on the variety of the meals search or perhaps put in a feature where we can input what the meal we eat is consist of so it generate a dish on its own, if that those happen maybe a new section on NutritionCoach can be developed where one can save the meals they ate in case they make/eat it again.

Pet peeves

Love NutritionCoach . Only thing I would like to see is that when you add certain food to your journal I wish you could
1- have certain consistent meals saved. Like a protein shake that you make the same everyday with the same ingredients. Just being able to save and add consistently instead of manually having to add each item every time.
2- I know on a similar app(MyFitnessPal) if you add a food once it’s also available to add again at a later time which is super easy and consistent. this way I don’t have to search and find my specific item especially if I don’t have the barcode with me. So if I have a specific brand of any item that I eat today and add it to my journal.. tomorrow If I have it again whenever I go to add food it shows up as my most recent item used. Super easy and consistent.
This is one thing I like more about my fitness pal.

Needs work but great concept

I switched from MyFitnessPal to NutritionCoach, and at first was really happy with it and loved the layout. BUT, there’s no way to add foods that aren’t in their system!! And there’s not even any way to just add random calorie amounts to your daily total, you HAVE to pick something from their database of foods. Which isn’t horrible, but it is still quite limited.

I’m probably going to switch back to MyFitnessPal, but I will be back if they make these changes. I will be back if they make it possible to make your own food entries with its own nutritional facts/names/brands that you can input yourself. Or even if they just simply make it so that you can add “X amount of calories” to your daily total. I don’t even care about the other macros besides calories.

I hope they make these changes because I was really excited about NutritionCoach, and would want to come back if it weren’t for this flaw.

Needs work

Overall I give a 2.5 star rating. As others mentioned, the amount of food in their database is very limited so even scanning a barcode does not mean NutritionCoach will be able to find and log your food. Additionally, I wish NutritionCoach kept a separate log of all the meals you’ve inputted for different meals throughout the day. It’s a pain if I’m eating leftovers for lunch from dinner the night before, and have to re-enter everything I inputted the previous night. If I eat the same thing at the same time (lunch and then eat the same meal for lunch the next day) it’s easy to select the food and add it to that days tracked meals, but if not it’s a real hassle. As someone whose trying to gain weight and has to watch calories and macros I find NutritionCoach to be average. If they streamlined the input meals and expanded their meal database I’d highly recommend NutritionCoach .

Love it!

I love NutritionCoach! It’s pretty much just like My Fitness Pal app but free. I used to use my Fitness Pal years ago and now the cost is outrageous! NutritionCoach is easy to use and so far have lost 2lbs in just one week. The one thing that I would like fixed is being able to go back and look at all of my weeks and be able to edit something if needed. For example, I got busy last night (Saturday) and didn’t have time to log my dinner or running activity. Since today is Sunday (a new week) it will not let me go back to enter it and I can’t even go back to look at my previous weeks except an overview. I’d give this 5 stars if that was a feature but it’s not so for now I give a 4 star rating. Please fix this!

Much better trackers out there

TL;DR: The macro recommendations are insanely off, and it doesn’t let you enter in meals that aren’t on their lists.

One, the daily macro portions that it suggests for dieting make no sense. At 175 lbs trying to gain weight, it suggested that I eat 248g of protein per day…. That is absurd advice that not a single nutritionist would recommend. Typically you’d se somewhere around 1g/1lb for those seriously trying to gain muscle mass which is WAY under what Nutri Coach says.

Conversely, the recommended fats are way too low. For a low fat diet, most references I’ve seen recommend about 85g per 2,500 calories. This recommended 27g which is absurdly little.

Seriously, y’all are going to give people eating disorders with NutritionCoach. It’s like they didn’t even have a nutritionist look at these recommendations before getting people on these crazy diets.

Additionally the interface is just not great. You can’t even add your own food items if something doesn’t pop up on their list. The scanner works well which is why this gets 2 instead of 1 stars.

All in all, there are just lots of other apps that do what Nutri Coach does so much better. I switched and am so much happier with it.

Only one complaint

I downloaded NutritionCoach for a school project, we need to count calories, protein, carbs, vitamins, all of it. NutritionCoach has all that and more. Your able to put in the exact food you eat and it gives you all the information on it, you can also track weight, water and steps. The only complain I have is that once the week is over you can no longer see that weeks log. I counted for 1 week then lost all the information when going to make an essay on it. Other than that one feature NutritionCoach is amazing. I highly recommend, just not for that specific feature!

Ounce measuring seems off

NutritionCoach is still new and has better qualities than MyFitnessPal but there’s still some kinks within recording your meals. Depending on what brand of food you insert, you will not get all the serving options available (ounce, grams, etc). I prefer to use grams but most of the food items I selected didn’t have grams as an option and when I converted to ounces, the conversion is off. E.g. If you put 1 ounce of green seedless grapes from wegmans and it shows as 2,000 calories when it should only be only 20 calories. I have to click around to different food options so it won’t record the incorrect caloric amount.

Love but wish I could customize entries

Switched to this from MyFitnessPal and absolutely love NutritionCoach the only thing that I wish it could do is allow for custom entries. A few of the things that I normally have for coffee or just general entries for steaks etc. aren’t popping up when I search the barcode and there’s no way to manually enter or add macros on their own. NutritionCoach would be perfect if it had that option but too many things aren't showing up through the search so might have to switch back and to Myfitnesspal for the time being

Sad to give it low stars

I wanted to love NutritionCoach. As far as calorie calculation (for the day) and linking up to your activity trackers, it is the easiest, most realistic and most convenient. The recipes however, we’re NOT at all accurate in nutritional composition. I tracked the tuna sandwich and it calculated at 55 grams of fat with zero carbs and zero protein … being a Registered Dietitian, I know this is FAR from accurate. You also cannot add the recipe to any meal, it can only be added to the meal they have it marked as - so if you eat it for breakfast but they have it categorized as lunch, there wasn’t a way to add the recipe/meal to breakfast instead. I canceled my free trial immediately, because of the nutritional composition inaccuracies.

Stop making people pay

Start making people pay because you don’t know if they don’t have money to pay every week or every month or every day I have any more news channel trying start making people pay because you don’t know if they don’t have money to pay every week or every month or every day I have any money he’s trying to lose weight what if the child insecure about their body didn’t even have money on her account on their phone or something then how they’re going to even do it

Needs to grow

Negative feedback:
Some Nutritional data is off. Especially when measuring by oz. measurements of serving are limited to .25, .5, .75 etc. The food we upload does not save for easy recall. The user has limited access to data we upload. Some labels cannot be scanned. And some products and even produce do not exist or cannot be found within NutritionCoach . Water consumption can only be tracked by measurements of 8oz.

Positive feedback:
Able to track and measure water consumption.
Able to connect to apple health app.
Tracks steps.
Provides recipes.

Suggestions:
Increase the choice of measurements available to track food and water more accurately.
Fix the incorrect nutritional data on produce and figure out why measuring by ounces gives wild numbers. Add the option of adding food manually that includes nutritional data, name, brand, calories and serving size. Increase the database of saved foods, so that the user doesn’t have to scan a label every time.

At this time I would not recommend NutritionCoach.
Mediocre at best.

I enjoy this app very much

This is my favorite fitness app and it has helped me a lot. The best part is tracking calories burned. But I would want one single thing to add is a quick add section sometimes I pick up foods from healthy restaurants which has exact nutrition details but I can’t add it quickly. I would really much love it if it would have quick add section where you can put macros and calorie yourself. Thank you 😊

Love this app

This is a great app for helping you keep track of what to eat to make sure your eating enough calories. Only thing I would fix, you can’t look at last week and any of the past weeks. When it hits 12am on Monday, I can’t add anything I’ve eating that I forgot to put on Sunday. Would love to see a comparison of all the months and be able to see all my tracking/data.

By

Review and Complaint

When it becomes Sunday, there HAS to be a way to go back to Saturday to add stuff. I hadn’t added my meals from Saturday so I was going to today (Sunday) like I always do when I forget to add my meals for the day, but you can’t go back to Saturday because it’s a new week?? So now all my numbers are off because it says I missed a whole day of tracking. I love NutritionCoach but this is so frustrating. I haven’t found a way to go back to the previous week and it’s happened twice now.

Helps so much

I have adhd and I tend to forget my diet or when I eat and I have no skill In scheduling I gain weight so much because I have 50 hobbies and I always eat I’m not extremely overweight or anything but 200 pounds is too much for me and that was my breaking point, I’m 18 and 5’9 being 200 pounds it makes me feel inferior, but I’ve only had this for a day and have already lost 2 pounds

Favorite Calorie Tracking App

NutritionCoach is very clean looking and easy to use which I love, simple to find things and change whatever. Only downside compared to other apps is that a lot of things are not available to track, being able to add items into the available foods with a picture of the barcode and nutrition label would be very helpful, or maybe some way to request things to be added.

It’s great! But parts keep crashing

I love NutritionCoach so far, but every time I click on the profile section, NutritionCoach crashes and brings me back to my Home Screen. I thought it might’ve just been my phone until I restarted the entire thing and kept running into the same issue. If NutritionCoach was fully functional, it would easily get 5 stars from me! Just a little disappointed in the crashing.

I love it

Let me just say first off that I love NutritionCoach. It tracks everything for me and is also free. On thing I would like to see added is the ability to add in the macros for a meal without searching the product. I make homemade things sometimes so it would be nice if you were able to do this.

By

Could be better

Sometimes I don’t always have my phone on me but I do wear a fit bit. It would be nice if I could just type in my steps.

Something else that I feel like would really help is if NutritionCoach could tell me what I’m eating to much of or not enough of.

It also doesn’t give me to many recipes I think actually look good. But that’s my opinion. Maybe if I would try them I would l love them. Other than these few things I think it’s a good app.
