S1 & S2 Speaker Controller Reviews

Some friends and I were staying at a place with sonos speakers and while we could get them to work it was not user friendly or easy. Seriously all we wanted to do was play music from our phones through the speakers, something you can do on any Bluetooth device. But no, you have to add songs to the sonos app then there’s no way to setup a playlist and only one song would play then it stops so you have to tap another song to play the next. Plus they want you to pay for all this inconvenience. Why not just make it Bluetooth compatible so you can play through the speakers without even downloading an app? Plus it was very frustrating just trying to get connections to work and play anything at all. Just get a Bluetooth speaker and save yourself the trouble.

Where to start? S1S2SpeakerController is essentially nonfunctional - without paying $25 in app to control the already pricey high end hardware you can’t navigate anywhere without having to go through ad walls and the user interface is a complete joke. S1S2SpeakerController is only compatible with Apple Music and only allows you to browse by your complete song library in alphabetical order - no using other music services, no searches, no navigating by artist or release or genre, just a monolithic alphabetical song library. Absolute garbage.

And for the record, if you do end paying the absurd premium cost all I know for sure that does is remove ads - no guarantee that undoes the softlock UI that renders the navigation system nonfunctional.

The Sonos “Port” is outstanding! The streaming unit allowed us to connect iMac to our amplifier and existing stereo external speakers. Apple Airplay 2 compatible. Ease of installation, less than 5 minutes. An added plus is that we can add additional Sonos speakers throughout our home! Great value for the money. Highly recommended!

S1S2SpeakerController is terrible. Not sure the purpose nor why it’s $25. I just downloaded it and it’s buggy, doesn’t allow you to play from multiple Sonos speakers, or music services. Despite recognizing S1 and S2 devices, which is why I purchased, will not allow me to play the from my Apple Music. Terrible app and if I could rate less than 1 star, I would. Check out the grammar in the high ratings! Smell a bunch of foreign rats.

Sonos sounds incredible but is simply not user friendly. It is very difficult to set-up. Other music apps will not play directly to the speakers thru WiFi but instead must play through the Sonos app. I have them for three days and after hours of set up on multiple phones, I am still in the process of completing the set-up. I have just about decided to return the speakers. The headaches and frustrations make Sonos not worth what you pay!

I don’t understand why written instructions are not included with the Sonos five speaker I bought my wife for Christmas. S1S2SpeakerController is terrible and five weeks later I am no further along than I was on Christmas Day. I would throw the whole system away if it weren’t so expensive. Maybe you should limit sales to those under the age of thirty. This has been an awful waste of money.

Not fun for me. I guess that I go out of town frequently and then every time I just want to pair up Pandora. I have to go and start all over again. I stopped using them, now are just expensive dust collectors. I loved them when I could make them work.
I went and bought a small ecoxgear and I love it. So easy to use and so far I can still make it work.
So sad!

It is way better than the other of most of everything that you have to pay only other rappers it’s for free on S1S2SpeakerController.

Just set up the Sonos Beam… Easy set up… Haven’t explored all the buttons yet but it seems to be quite a product!

Previously used S1S2SpeakerController for free and recently S1S2SpeakerController on 2 different communication devices quit working. When reinstalling S1S2SpeakerController I can only complete if I sign up for premium services (at premium charges). I can manually turn on the speaker but can only play the last station listened to via S1S2SpeakerController .

When I want to listen to music, I wish to listen to music.
Sonos thinks you want to jump through hoops with passwords, app updates and the like. A good quality Bluetooth speaker would be a better investment. Sonos is froofy technology for people with lots money and time to babysit their technology. If you like listening to music, steer clear of Sonos.

What happened to your app? It used to be reliable but is now mostly useless. There is nothing wrong with my network so please don’t start there( EVERY other device on my network stays connected). The fact is S1S2SpeakerController constantly looses connectivity to my network. Ideas?

Love my system you pay for what you get so many times I spend big money and get Blah . With Sonos system I get heaven on earth love my system 👍👍👍👍👍😘😘😘

I like the speaker. It required a few steps to set up but it wasn’t anything too crazy.

Very frustrating , I have 6 speakers . They disconnect , and I need to pair them again. Recently every morning one or two speakers are not showing on S1S2SpeakerController . No customer service either, just automated system. Not recommending the product

Always have a problem connecting to the system. Needs to improve.

Initial setup, it started but when I had left and came back to area, I couldn’t get working and asked to reconnect

What happened to plug and play? Or a simple “On/Off” switch. $500 bucks for the sound bar and $40 more bucks for two supplemental apps and two hours later, it still doesn’t work. Very frustrating. Thanks.

Seriously!, you can only play music to 1 (one) Sonos speaker at a time! Yes you can use your microphone to broadcast out to any of your Sonos speakers, but again ONLY ONE AT A TI ME,
You can’t group them together likein the S1/S2 controllers.

I really want you money back and stop the e membership!
