Not what it used to be

The original Banana Kong was one of my favorite mobile games, so I was excited to try this one. It is basically the same but with upgraded graphics. The original used to let you play again right away. Now with all the monetization and engagement mechanisms, it takes a solid 7-10 seconds to play again after every run. For example, it waits to see if you want to revive because that’s how they make money, then it shows you all these keys and missions with fun but long animations, and then it takes you back to the main screen…it’s just too much. Original Banana Kong gave me that dopamine hit of just restarting right away, and now I just exit out as soon as I die. Monetization is killing gameplay but since I’m not a whale (big spender) I guess I don’t matter anyway.
Not quite ready

Unfortunately its kinda unplayable in its current state. It freezes, lags and stutters including the sound. Controls need to be smoothed out and also it goes to a black screen every time it try's to transfer to a different area. Sometimes it fixes after about ten seconds and other times it stays frozen until you close out the app. Hope the kinks get worked out.
Great game with problems

This is one of the best runner games I have played. The graphics are great, controls are responsive, and there are excellent surprises throughout. I took off one star because you have to grind a lot to earn enough bananas and coins to upgrade. I took off another star because some of the missions are too hard to complete. The game is not very generous with giving you the things you need (eg., boulders, vines, mine platforms, etc.), so it takes a while before completing a mission. I currently have only one mission to complete and it involves jumping on posts in the water. After over a hundred runs, the game has not given me enough posts to complete the mission. Many of the runs had no posts at all. Part of a game’s success is its replay-ability, and missions and collecting perks are part of that. There is no way to progress in this game without buying lots of coins. I already paid to get rid of ads and I’m not going to buy coins when I should be able to earn them. The game is fun, but also disappointing.
