Awesome but only subscription :(

This is a super well polished and pretty app. Main downside is it's only subscription, no one-time payment option :( I've been burnt out from subscriptions and want primarly just one-time options.
I saw they mentioned it on their website, however I'd disagree with their points. They use their own servers for syncing, but you could just make it so one-time payment uses icloud, since this is an apple only product and not cross-platform. I'd hacve no problem getting a license for the current version, and if I want to upgrading to the next major version at a discount.
The main things I like are the visual timer, which I can accomplish with tons of apps or even a physical timer the part where you can say how focused you were. But due to the subscription, I don't think I'll keep using it. Hopefully they'll change their mind about the subscription one-time payment method in the future. If they do I'll get it for sure!

This app replaced Sunsama and Toggl

I was using Sunsama for a while, but the price and features were too much for what I needed. I was also using Toggl Track to measure my time. While I still might use Toggl in the future to record overall time (including breaks) this has been a great replacement, especially the small status bar. I use Obsidian for tasks and time block in apple calendar so the directions of Sunsama focusing on notes and AI does not appeal to me. I want an app that can see time planned vs time spent and this does just that. While Sunsama is very very clean, Session replaces the timer and visualizes time spent much much better. While there are certain things to get used to on Session, it has been a great addition to my productivity. With that said, I do wish that there were more options for breaks or even gray colors to create a category for break times. I would also like to be able to break down my time by larger categories. I’m ADHD and a PhD student and find this really useful for tracking time at work, gym, and cleaning but there is no way for the outputs to distinguish these categories (at least none that I have found) with that said, for what it is, this is a great app and the only tool that I have found that successfully lets me see time planned vs time worked.

Worth it

I adore SessionPomodoroFocusTimer. So much so that I’ve sent it out to a few coworkers and family members. As a single mom who works in mental health, my life can get a bit chaotic. It’s not unheard of for something to slip through the cracks and/or frustrations to build to the point of *imposter syndrome*.

This application excels in so many ways. It’s not only a timer but a useful tool for time management. Specifically, SessionPomodoroFocusTimer can sync with your calendar (if you so choose) and show your stats alongside your agenda. Additionally, you can select daily, weekly, monthly, etc., views of how your time was managed. SessionPomodoroFocusTimer breaks this down by percentage, visual graphs, basically all the common ways to digest information.

There’s a one time fee of $40, a weekly fee of like $5, or an option to use it for free. Personally I paid the lifetime fee because SessionPomodoroFocusTimer has done wonders for me. And $40? Are you kidding? That’s a steal.

I do have a few qualms, all of which are preference based and accommodations are easy. But….I would really love it if they had an app for my watch. I don’t need to see the stats if that’s one of the hold ups, but please let me use it on the go.

I have a cellular watch and enjoy living my life phone-free. The desktop app is phenomenal but not available on my work computer. D: Help a girl out!

Best Pomodoro App Ever!

I have tried many pomodoro apps for phone/laptop, even bots on discord. This is my personal favorite for many reasons, and my friends have also agreed and switched to SessionPomodoroFocusTimer. I also like that you are able to use it for free without too many limitations. I believe the paid features are worth it if you are very committed to the pomodoro life, although personally i wouldn't want to pay $5 a month just to get some extra features. It it was cheaper I would consider upgrading.

The only thing I would like added as a feature is to be able to add friends on the platform and share stats. This feature made other pomodoro apps fun and helps with accountability. Hoping the creators see this review and consider adding this soon!

Best time tracking app

At first, I was skeptical about it and thought what's so special about it than other similar apps. To be honest, it seems all time tracking apps are almost same as there is little room to innovate. But I was wrong and was amazed by the small attention to details in Session.

For example, be able to run automations from Session start or ending, the timer never stops after the set target & continues ticking to keep me reminding of it, then be able to increase time after a session ends - these are all simple but so powerfully synced features that no one else probably had thought of.

Now it has become an integral part of my overall productivity, and probably I will not be able to use any other timer app ever after this.

The solution I didn’t know I neede

I’ve used many techniques but often they don’t fit my ever-changing circumstances. Session has so many well refined features that make it quick enough to set, go, and maintain focus in flexible way that really works for me. Honestly it’s something you must simply try for yourself and see how things get done.

Personally I love that I can capture notes during and after my sessions and connect it all to my calendar. Often it’s in these details that I work out the thoughts I need to in order to maintain focus on the next detail. I do wish there were formatting options (bold/italics/underline, hyperlinks, bullets, etc.). Very impressed because to be honest I wasn’t even looking for this and once I tried it I couldn’t believe I found it.

Best pomodoro, focus timer, productivity booster, so much more

This is the best pomodoro timer I have used! I have tried Be Focused, Focus To-Do, Focus Keeper, Flora and others. I always come back to this timer because of the heavy featureset It has! I love seeing the progress I have made during the week and the Stats Dashboard it shows.

I keep my Session, Calendar and Tasks tracked together. I have time blocks in my calendar, I then click on them inside Session which lets me track my time based on the category. I can then work on my tasks that are tagged with that category. I love the flexibility SessionPomodoroFocusTimer has to do many things. I can even hide the Calendar view if I just want a simple Pomodoro timer. Now they allow you to block apps with this, love the new features they are always adding!

the best pomodoro timer/ time tracker

Would definitely recommend! I really love how simple and customisable SessionPomodoroFocusTimer is- and that it works both as a way to help focus and also as a time-tracking app so i can see where my focus has been during the week.

I also really appreciate that SessionPomodoroFocusTimer gives me space to take a breath before going back into a focused mode. I often find that i get tense when working for long periods of time and that feature helps to diffuse that feeling.

(Philip,if youre planning on doing any further development i'd love to see apple watch compatability for starting sessions and breaks/ seeing how far into a session i am! Would also love an option to buy once and not be on subscription. The only reason i might hesitate to recommend this is because it's on a subscription model.)

GREAT for Student/Professional with ADHD

I found SessionPomodoroFocusTimer in the middle of Bar Prep when I really needed to hone in on what I was studying and for how long. This isn't your run of the mill Pomodoro Timer, it's geniously created with every feature you could want or imagine. I love seeing the statistics that calculate how long I was really focused, and when I wasn't. Additionally, if you haven't focused for the amount of time required for a long break, SessionPomodoroFocusTimer will not give it to you, it hold's you accountable and is almost like a body double. I would also like to say how amazing it is to have a developer so passionate about SessionPomodoroFocusTimer he created. The discord channel is amazing to figure out unknown features and to ask questions. I asked a question regarding the timers and Phillip responed to be within the same day. I highly reccomend SessionPomodoroFocusTimer to anyone.

Beautiful, intuitive app

I have really enjoyed using Session. If you're like me, balancing a number of projects for school/work and you have a variety of responsibilities... it's hard to feel like you make much progress. Session changes that by showing you how your day has been broken down and how your day or week has gone.

I have a few suggestions that if the developer(s?) find the time, I think could help Session improve. A little area above or below the time wheel where you can write a short to-do list (like - "what's your focus today?), would help. I find myself going back and forth between my Stickies app or a post-it to remember other things I should tackle today.

Another (major) feature would be an intuitive way to have a "super view" of the amount of hours you've worked on a particular project, and compare it to time spent on other tasks. I find myself going back in the week trying to count/approximate the hours - when in reality it would be nice to have that report per project (not stratified by day)

All in all, if you're looking for an app to help you focus, is easy to use, is constantly getting updated, and visually remind you that you are continually making progress each day - I highly, highly recommend trying out Session.

Perfect for a struggling bar exam studier

I’ve been struggling over the last 2 years of law school pushing through at-home work and zoom lectures, only to transfer to the same environment for bar prep. I’ve chalked it up to self prescribed adult ADHD. As bar prep is in full swing, my time struggles only feel emphasized. The last few weeks have required a LOT out of me, pushing through hours of studying with seemingly little to show. SessionPomodoroFocusTimer has changed that all at once. Not only can i track exactly what I’m studying, how long I’m studying it, but it helps me visualize the day and tasks. The time tracker in combination with the task category and statistics are exactly what I need. I honestly can’t understand why something as genius as this isn’t provided with the bar prep I pay for. Huge game changer for me and I fully expect to be utilizing it in a work setting moving forward.

Clean, simple, lightweight - Best for Individuals

This is a wonderful app! The fourth time tracker that I have used and by far the best for individual use. I wish SessionPomodoroFocusTimer was talked about on all the Blogs! It is best for time tracking, seeing your focus time trends and comparing what you planned to accomplish vs. what you actually did in a day. The UX is very smooth and provides a lot more useful information than other apps. It is a joy to click around, see data and sync with my calendar. It feels lightweight and intuititive. And has enough options for me to run SessionPomodoroFocusTimer instead of SessionPomodoroFocusTimer running me (other apps force you into sessions without your prompt and feel clunky and difficult to navigate). The learning curve is small (unlike alternative time tracking apps). If you are looking to sync your time tracking with invoicing, I am not sure SessionPomodoroFocusTimer does that. I like that it does not do invoicing. The simplicity of SessionPomodoroFocusTimer keeps me focused on the craft of doing work.

Philip is the developer. Philip, you've done a wonderful job with SessionPomodoroFocusTimer! I am very proud of you and I don't even know you! Keep up the great work.

Game Changer

I absolutely love SessionPomodoroFocusTimer. I have used a number of Pomodoro applications to try and keep myself focused. This one is by far the best. The features and customization are unmatched. The notes function alone has been remarkably helpful in keeping track of what I actually accomplished and ensuring I stay on track and on task. The sync between my phone and computer enables me to get up and leave the room during my breaks without worrying that I will spend to much time distracted. What really makes SessionPomodoroFocusTimer a must and pushed it over the edge for a good app to a great app is the UI it is visually appealing and functional. Everything is laid out in a way that makes sense and it just works. The sync between IOS and MacOS is seamless and I never have to fidget with it to get anything to work. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is trying to get more done and do it better.

Best and beautifully designed app, great customer service!

I've tried 10 pomodoro apps on iOS/MacOS and this is by far my favorite. I love the aesthetic of SessionPomodoroFocusTimer itself and how its designed with reports to log your sessions.

Especially as a student with ADHD, I've found it to be extremely helpful to be able to log and categorize sessions as well as describe the productivity level and notes as well. Even the free version of SessionPomodoroFocusTimer is great. But if you use the pomodoro timer often, its more than worth it to pay for the premium version for use without any limitations. I love being able to review my stats over and compare them to other days to assess what changes I might need to make. Don't know how I'd study without it, it makes me excited to study and log my sessions.

Also Philip, one of the developers, is super kind and has always been swift to respond to any emails and assist in solving any problems.

Well designed & improves productivity

I've recently been having trouble focusing during my work time when a friend recommended Session. After using it one day, I knew i loved it!

The free version is a must-have but i would highly recommend supporting the developer and paying for Pro.

There are many excellent features for SessionPomodoroFocusTimer:
- SessionPomodoroFocusTimer is beautifully designed, intuitive, and user friendly.
- It integrates with your calendar which is really excellent.
- While you're focusing, a ticking sound plays (it can be turned off) but i find that it's helps with my focus. The ocean sounds that play during break are also nice.
- There's a breathing exercise before the focus session.
- The notes section which is visible during the focus session is very helpful for getting your thoughts down.
- After a session is complete, you're prompted to reflect back on your focus session and rate your productivity.
- You're able to categorize your sesions and list your goals.
- Being able to reflect back on how much time was spent on what is also great.

My only wish is that is it could integrate with something like Asana where i could track my productivity for my to-do items (perhaps one day!).

Overall, I really love SessionPomodoroFocusTimer. It's beautifully done and has helped me improve my productivity and focus in the time that i've used it. I would highly recommend it.

I downloaded today please help yourself and get this app

I never write reviews for anything but this might help someone like me. I am studying for an upcoming critical exam. The past few weeks without SessionPomodoroFocusTimer have been so difficult. Due to stress, I have easily distracted by other apps and things around me. One thing that immediately made me love SessionPomodoroFocusTimer is that I would pause my timer and do something else, and it sends me reminders that I have been distracted for more than 10 minutes. I love that and needed that. Overall, I give SessionPomodoroFocusTimer a 10/10; today, I have done more studying than in the last three weeks. Whether you're working/ studying or both. Get SessionPomodoroFocusTimer now!!! It is an excellent investment for those who tend to get easily distracted. P.s. you can use it with your iPad/ mac/ phone, and it syncs the logistics. Worth it. I got the monthly subscription and now have SessionPomodoroFocusTimer on my phone/computer and iPad.

Ridiculously good for deep work

Session is beautiful, it’s super simple to use, it runs extremely smoothly, it’s got details and features I didn’t realize I needed but now I wouldn’t want to live without. I was an Applied Behavior Analysis major (that also has ADHD) and I am truly impressed with the built in cues that quickly condition you to focus on demand. A breathe in and out animation (just a few seconds when starting a session) and lovely choices for ambient background noise. Use the same non-distracting soundscape to start your work every day and you’ll start to settle in and focus earlier and easier. The design and features seem extremely well thought out /and/ well executed. I’m obsessed with Session, it is so much more than a pomodoro app (I have been trying Pomodoro apps for many years and none have ever really worked for me. This one is on another level and it works great! Finally I have accurate tracking for my total work hours and built in notes/reflection/intention/activity tracking.) LOVE IT.

Session is a balm for my ADHD soul

I downloaded Session because I had been searching for a way to support my ADHD and task avoidance. I get anxiety over starting tasks that feel overwhelming and then guilty for not getting that task done which leads to even more task avoidance. I wanted to be better at keeping my promises to people about what I'll do by when, all while honoring the way my brain works. I've tried implementing pomodoro in many ways, from having manual timers to adding "Just Start" to my habit list to installing other pomodoro apps, but none of them worked!

Session has finally made pomodoro click because it's not just a timer, it's a mindfulness coach wrapped up in software. It prompts me to breathe before the start of a task so that I can quiet my mind and tell myself that I can do it. It asks me to set an intention that is then helpfully displayed on my menu bar so that I won't forget about it. Even the Session help documents are friendly. I find myself wanting to start a Session and that gives me all the hope in the world.

Definitely the most well-thought out Pomodoro App!

I am another one of those people that has app-related issues, I am constantly downloading and trying new apps that I don't need. I have tried pretty much every Pomodoro timer on SessionPomodoroFocusTimer store and found several good enough to purchase. This one beats them all in it's feature set and most importantly it's interface, it is pretty much perfect. It really is more of a day planner pomodoro app with it's tight calendar integration, and it is the "stickiest" timer I've ever used, meaning I actually find myself using it after a couple of weeks, it is just that pleasant to use. I will say that I have not yet spent the money to take it pro, as I feel like $40 a year really a bit too much for any timer; that is more than I pay for apps like Craft or TickTick, apps that do a lot more and cost a lot less. If it were $20 a year, I would have signed up instantly. The free version is perfectly usable, however, and if I am still using it 6 months from now I might end up paying for the pro version.

Great for discipline!

By far the best pomodoro timer I've used. I use another app to automatically track activity in the background and keep a detailed record, but the notifications at the end of an (intended) session and I would inevitably swat them away or not even notice them. Session gets in my face and forces me to take a break unless I deliberately choose to add more time. I love it.

I know it probably has a lot of features I haven't even discovered yet but if you have ever wanted a flexible pomodoro timer with a strong ability to make you pay attention to sessions and breaks, look no further. The free version is worth its weight in gold just for that. I've just subscribed so that I can check out additional features. Excellent work!
