Even so, it’s become increasingly obvious that I’m playing almost exclusively against bots. From the excessive nonsensical and out of context use of the emojis to the always similar names, to the clearly fake pictures of those with “premium accounts” to just the gameplay in general something just isn’t right. And then I started thinking about it and thought this is a really relatively unknown game in the grand scheme of it all, and it sometimes takes me hours for a words with friends play response. Why would this one have such sudden, literally 2.5 second responses? There can’t be that many people playing. Theres only one explanation that satisfies all of the above issues. They’re bots. Mindless, soulless bots and they use those stupid emojis to entice real people into buying the emoji packs so the more reactionary players can “fight back” or respond. This also makes me wonder how many of these reviews were created by questionable means. But also, yes, without the ad blocker I would have given up this game a long time ago.

can’t even play thanks to constant pop ups and ads. Also it keeps opening up my safari app to some sketchy website and I don’t even click anything. Im definitely NOT paying $2 a WEEK to get rid of ads haha. I’d maybe pay a one time payment to get rid of ads forever but not weekly. gmfu😂😂 ADs aside there’s just way to much going on, things constantly popping up about different challenges and spin the wheel a thousand times (which u gotta watch an ad to do and you got to watch an ad to claim the prize ;) )I just want to play the normal game. Just a terribly awful app. I get they need to make money but when the ads disrupt the entire playability of your game.. you gotta know something is really wrong there… so sick of this garbage cluttering Wordgrams store. The game at its core is a great concept I only turned to Wordgrams when the old one shut down but this one is awful. Don’t recommend at all!

Fun to play, good concept, but insanely broken. Opening Wordgrams initiates a loading screen that takes ages and then, halfway through, suffers an error that starts the loading over again. Games load partway so the countdown starts but half the clues haven’t loaded in and are still trying to load by the time your turn ends. Submitted turns get error messages that they were unable to submit because the request timed out. Restarting Wordgrams means, you guessed it, more broken loading screens. Various buttons stop working randomly. Go ahead, restart Wordgrams again—you might get somewhere in about four minutes when it manages to load. I’ve spent significantly more time struggling with Wordgrams than I have actually playing. I really want to keep trying to play this but it’s driving me mad. After less than two days, I’m uninstalling to save my sanity.

There are so many ads, it’s fine to have ads but sometimes it plays when your in a middle of a match thinking of a word and the matches are timed. My biggest problem with the ads is that a lot of them freezes and I know it’s not me because every other device in my house works just fine. Because the ads freezes you have to restart the game and good luck if your in the middle of a match because you automatically loses if you restart the game. The game lags a lot, there are solo games that requires you to type and you have to type really slowly or it will skip letters, then there’s also the problem of the game constantly zooming in when I pick up a letter and try to place it in the square. The game is a great idea but it just has way to many problems for it to be enjoyable.

You made such a fun, yet challenging game that I am fully addicted to. Why did you ruin it with such an excessive amount of ads? In 30 minutes, I got 6 turns that lasted 60 seconds each (2 were 120 seconds). All the rest of that time I watched ads. Do the math here.

The whole idea is for players to actually PLAY the game, not watch ads or pay a monthly fee to remove them. If it was $3-4 to remove them permanently, I would have done that. No way I’ll ever pay a monthly fee for it. It’s cheaper to delete Wordgrams .

Lastly, where are you guys??? You respond to everyone’s positive comments, but I’m not seeing any response to the feedback about the ads. My question is do you have any plans to change this practice? I’d love to keep Wordgrams , but I absolutely will not if the monthly subscription to remove ads doesn’t change. Others are complaining about it too. Hopefully you all will do the right thing and very soon.

The new rule change takes away a strategy.

Explanation? Sometimes throughout the game you have a hard time figuring out what the pictures are trying to say, so you do your best but can inevitably fall behind. The only way to catch up sometimes is when you get to the end, and have managed to work things so that you can get a bonus square that enables you to take the lead and win.

By taking away that ability to not use every tile, if you fall behind by a certain amount, there’s no need to try finishing the match because you now have no way to catch up. If your opponent happens to pull ahead, even if you get some words, if they get lucky and manage to hit the bonus squares first, you have no strategy left to even try to win.

The rule change is ridiculous and breaks the game. You will need to try to get the bonus squares ASAP now instead of actually using strategy to play then at the best time. There’s a similar game to this called Kryss which I guess I will go play instead because this new rule change absolutely ruins this one. They say it was based on player feedback? Perhaps those players need to learn how to actually use strategy in the game instead of whining about “hoarding.” Absolutely awful and a terrible rule change.

I love word games and when I came across this recently I thought it was great. Fun, challenging, relaxing. But those long ads after EVERY TURN?? Just beyond annoying. I finally broke down and paid the ridiculous price of $4.99 to remove the ads for a month. (Most other games I play charge less and remove them PERMANENTLY. ) So listen to this, folks: They removed the ads that play after every turn, as promised. BUT instead of awarding me my earned coins at the end of a game, they made it so I have to WATCH AN AD before I can get the coins! That’s right - NO coins are given to me anymore unless I watch an ad first - the exact same long ads I just paid to get rid of! What an unbelievable low-down CHEAT this was on their part. Don’t fall into this trap like I did. I spent the 5 bucks for absolutely nothing. My choice is to either put up with the ads or never get any coins. Since the coins are needed for game play, I am stuck between the proverbial rock and hard place. Much as I enjoy this game, I will be deleting it. Shame on these dishonest game creators.

Not only is this game relentlessly laggy with constant ads that last for over a minute, but now the sole reason I downloaded Wordgrams has disappeared. I had a swagbucks offer to move up in the leagues and now it’s Monday when I should be able to check my place, and the league still hasn’t come back. Towards the latter half of the week I couldn’t check my ranking, so I may not have even moved up at all which means I’ll be missing out on cash because of how badly Wordgrams is designed. Don’t get me wrong the games are pretty fun, but there are too many issues to keep it downloaded long term. You can’t even remove the ads forever if you wanted to because they only offer ad removals for a certain amount of days. If you want people to stop dropping this game after their offers end, then put a button that takes you to the league even if there is an event going on and make it so we can get rid of ads with one purchase.

I want to report a person with supposedly the name of king coyote 69 from US. Won I was winning all the time and because he doesn’t know who to lose he keeps doing rematch again with me and the last game I was winning him again and them he didn’t want to put the words again and again, he was just putting done without putting a word and the end they finish the game letting him win, I was winning 23 in a row and this guy was cheating and you let him win. This is the worse thing, letting people play cheating and getting their way, because they don’t know how to lose. Is I already won him several times, why you let him to rematch me over and over again. People like them you don’t have to let play, if you already play with someone and you want to play again you should put them with another player not with the same one over and over again. I been trying to make a report about this and I can’t, it doesn’t give me the option to make a report and that’s why I’m writing this review. Also that my app keeps closing by itself all the time.

This is a novel idea, but falls down in execution.

First, there is no single player mode. Most people who enjoy works games like myself, enjoy the relaxing, non-competitive nature of notate of these types of games. To at insult to injury, they actually force you to accept a multi-player game the first time someone invites you to play. There is no ability to decline. It darkens the screen and only allows you to either accept the match, or close out the game completely.

Second, the game is timed even when you are in the tutorial. This adds a great deal of stress to the experience of playing (and not the good kind either). There is no option that I could find to play an un-timed match. They could have even offered an asynchronous option for multiplayer, but no dice.

Finally, the clues are truly awful. I play a lot of crossword type games (both with pictures and without), so I’m used to deciding the clues. The ones here are so random and obscure as to be entirely obtuse. It takes the fun right out of playing.

Aside from these issues, there were many other small annoyances. For example, it wouldn’t let me use my first name and last TWO upper case initials of my last name. This all added up to frustration, rather than fun. I suggest you keep looking for a better option.

I love this game! I play it everyday and I really hate that I’m about to delete it!! However it makes my iPhone very hot and drains the battery very quickly and then it’s starts to freeze up, then the game will just kick you out and when you go back in it …it has taken one of your lives! I have send support 2 emails about it with no response. Then you can be in the lead by over 60 points and using all five letters every go, then the computer will come back and play five letters and score over 100 points instantly making you lose! Also when you are doing the challenges it give the computer the letter to place on the x2 and plus 5… making it impossible to bet the computer! Was a fun game but they taking my lives at not fault of my own and the cheating for the computer it makes it hard to even wanna play!

I wanted to love this game, I really did. Competitive, accessible crosswords with a leveling system and new daily puzzles? Sign me up!

But the incessant ads, the sheer greed with which the developers try to wring money out of you (Seriously, $4 a week, $10 a month, or $50 a year to remove ads? Not even a one-time purchase?)c the fact that I started running into the same clues after only a few games (not to mention that some of the clues are just abbreviations?)… it all really soured the experience and ruined any desire I had to touch this game again.

Try it if you want. It’s genuinely fun to puzzle out the clues, earn league cups, and unlock new game modes to try (even if the “Word of the Day” is a blatant Wordle clone). But don’t spend money on this game. You deserve better.

Tl;Dr the game itself is fun. The ads are insufferable and too frequent. The paid version is not worth it and expensive in the long run for this type of game.

I really wanted to continue playing. I considered the paid version. The price is not a fixed price and can be expensive in the long run and this game is not worth it. The alternative is seeing unskippable ads after every turn. The ads are terrible too, some say 30 seconds but after the timer goes down it doesn’t give you an X, there’s an arrow which makes Wordgrams Store pop up with the game from the ad. You have to close that and sometimes it makes it pop up again or there’s a second timer before the X pops up. I ran into a few games with a fake X that just launches Wordgrams Store. I just realized that many of the other players are indeed bots but that hasn’t been a problem as I have 20 win streak. I have used Wordgrams for two weeks and can honestly say that the developers are very greedy with ads and the paid version. I also saw that even with the paid version you have to watch an ad to get extra coins.

it’s a good game and is super fun, but some of it just doesn’t make sense...like why are the columns sometimes split up into 2 words??? like some of them are abreiviations like pakistan was PK? yet it was a full column so that word was like pkjump or sum like HUH? also the bot thing is so stupid i will know most of the words but i don't get the right letters so then the bot gets all the points, even tho i almost completed the word they get full credit for adding the last letter. i wish you could play by yourself with no time limit. i legit cant get past the first level because the bot keeps taking the words i almost finished but didn’t have enough letters to create. it’s a fun game at times but not something that if ever want to play if i’m bored.

In the “collections” of the tiles, you can earn or watch ads to get coins to “buy” tiles. I can only see the top row of tiles and their coin cost. The second row, I can see about half the tile, and definitely not the coin cost. There is a screen asking me to watch an ad video to get more coins or play to get more. And I can’t move that part away or close it. Nor can I love the screen behind that has the tiles.
There are way too many ads, not just at the end of a turn. Also, from what I can tell, you cannot buy ad-free permanently, it’s just for a limited time. (A week at a time, a month, or a year, however long you’re paying.) why can’t I just pay $3/4 for no ads forever?

It starting draining my battery LIKE CRAZY, making my phone get EXTREMELY HOT, and making my phone lag and run slowly all of the time. I quit playing another game exactly like this one because this one seemed to have fewer ads. Then it became more time watching ads than actually getting to play. ⭐️ I GET THAT ADS ARE PART OF HAVING A “FREE” GAME, BUT OH MY LORD! ⭐️ This game has become ridiculous! Constant ads running at the top (probably why it’s killing my battery), and then I can’t blink without a LENGTHY ad playing - and don’t try to tap the “x” to close it. Rarely works. The game even freezes parts of ads at the bottom - ACROSS TYE LETTERS - and starts my turn. Impossible to play.

It will work for a couple of rounds and then start glitching. It will say I took my turn and got points for a turn I never took. The board stays the same. The other player never goes and then the game sits there because it says “waiting for the other player” to take their turn. I end up having to resign the game and hope it will work the next time and it never does. I turned notifications off thinking maybe it had something to do with the notifications. I also tried not to exit the game board if I see the Other person is playing but nothing has worked. Please fix this because the game is great. I finally uninstalled it because I have 20 games I can’t finish!

i’ve only had this game for a little over a week and have played it every single day whenever i have the chance because it is so, so fun! but oh my goodness… the amount of ads is insufferable. the only reason i am leaving this review was because i wanted to check to see if other people have complained about the same thing and they have, and yet nothing has been done about it. i just spent about 20 minutes reading through the reviews and the majority of the ones below 5 stars are complaining about the awful amount of ads. i see the developers respond to some of these but i haven’t seen one response on the countless call outs on this ongoing issue. either lessen the ads or give a one time purchase for ad free playing. this is ridiculous to ignore your audience when we’re the ones you should be aiming to please. fix the problem or people will get sick of this game and abandon it.

The game is very fun to play. However, the free version is inundated with ads. You spend more time watching ads than actual playing. You’ll get a question about your preference for ad free and the cost or “continue seeing ads”. If you don’t pay, get ready for a long run of ads!! I gave 3 stars just due to watching ads more than actual playing. Free spins are frequent BUT to collect the prize, you guessed it, you have to watch an ad. They’re not brief either. I finally gave in and paid. Wow….still ADS upon ADS!!!! You get a “free spin” but to collect……you guessed it ADS!!! If you opt for more time and extra coins…..ADS!!!! The paid version removed a few ads but you’re still inundated with ads!!! This is the worst game I’ve ever played in regards to ads. So, be prepared to spend more time, paid version or not, watching ads!!

I want to start off by saying that I am a “game hopper.” I get bored quickly so typically, as soon as I download a game and play for a little, I’m deleting it the same day. I’ve had this game for well over a year now and I play it seriously every day, even if for only 10 minutes. It has a great mix between challenging and excitement. It keeps me on my toes and I really do think it keeps the brain sharp. However…I have one problem. THE ADS! Ads are a part of almost every game now. I’m used to that. However, this game has an ad after every single turn. Then, the worst to me, is when you’re playing the mini games within Wordgrams , like the solo challenge, every couple seconds, an ad pops up. It’s seriously like every 15 seconds and those games can take you up to 5, maybe even more, minutes to do! You know how many ads that ends up being?! It makes me frustrated and I quit every time. They have an option to purchase ad free…FOR A MONTLY PRICE! That, to me, is ridiculous. Any game I have actually felt was worth keeping with ads had an option to remove them permanently. I’d gladly pay to do that, but it’s not an option. I love this game a lot and I’ve even suggested it to others…but I don’t know how much longer I can take these ads without a permanent solution to remove them (and NOT by paying a monthly charge!)

I absolutely love this game, however, Wordgrams itself makes my phone really hot which in turn causes Wordgrams to glitch. I would love to blame it on my phone but it’s the only app that does this. Especially now that I don’t pay for the ad free version, the extremely long ads that play every other second causes me to have Wordgrams open longer and takes away from my playtime because I have to close Wordgrams out to get my phone to return to normal temperature. I’m now also experiencing buffering on the pictures for games when it’s running hot which takes away time from my turn because I can’t play if I don’t know what picture I’m trying to guess

The game itself isn’t terrible, but my complaints are similar to other reviewers. The subscription ad thing is completely ridiculous. There should be a one time ad charge option. Having to purchase a subscription or watch a terrible amount of ads is a huge dissatisfier.

My other complaint is when you get to the final turns. It sometimes gives you only one letter although there are 5 spaces left and sometimes it gives you all five or even three. This happens regardless of if you’re in the lead or losing. There’s no rhyme or reason why it happens and can sometimes cause you to lose because of it.

I really enjoy this game and the different ways/puzzles/challenges you can play. The only things I have issues with are:

1. This game blocks my phone from auto-locking as I’ve set it in my system settings, so my screen just stays on unless I exit Wordgrams . This causes my phone to get super hot because I’m not used to having to explicitly exit an app after playing a turn and waiting for another player or after an ad finished playing. No other game/app I have does this. Please fix this because it is a security/safety issue.

2. The ads are absolutely bonkers. Ad to get back to the lobby, ad to start a new turn, ad once I complete a turn, ad to view this page, ad to go back to the lobby from viewing a page. It’s like every single click causes an ad.

Suggestion alert for developers!🚨 This is one of the better crossword apps I’ve played. I’ve tried a few, but this is my favorite. I enjoyed my free week of no ads, but after that I got annoyed. The ads aren’t long but I don’t like the ad that sits at the top of the screen in every game. It’s covering up part of the score and who you’re playing and other little details. I hate all the ads, which is normal. I like the option to get rid of them by paying, but why do we have to subscribe to play? Why can it not just be a one time purchase for no ads? I’d pay up to 10 dollars for no ads forever.. once. Think about making a one time payment for no ads and more people may pay! Especially ones who really enjoy this one more than the rest. Id give more stars if there wasn’t so many repeats of “clues” and if the paying for no ads were to change. Times are bad right now and many are cancelling subscriptions.
Wordgrams also crashes very often. Luckily no progress is loss.

This game is a great concept and very fun but there is one aspect of it that makes it extremely frustrating and it happens at the end of the round. When you get to the end and there’s only about 3-5 spaces left, it seems like the number of letters it gives you is entirely random. It seems like every time if I have the turn and there are only two spaces left, it’ll only give me one letter, making the other guy win even though i had a big lead. Conversely on the other guys turn, there will be 5 spaces left and it’ll give them all 5 letters, once again making them win despite me having a very large lead. Very frustrating and needs to be fixed/regulated.

I moved to Pictawords after a pretty dull experience with a similar game. It’s a huge improvement over its competition! However, I have two “bot” games that have been stuck for 8 days. The bot stated the game and sent a friendly chat which is normal. After several rounds the bot stopped playing. When I went to the chat hoping to nudge them back to life, they appeared to come back online to take their turn. Sadly, this was a false alarm and the bot went back to their dormant state. There is no way for me to delete the game without forfeiting, which I don’t want to do. I emailed the developers with no response, and their recent update didn’t resolve the issue. However, the game is amazing otherwise and I enjoy playing against others who actually play within a decent timeframe!

I love this game, the only problem is it’s a British game that sometimes uses British clues. If you are unfamiliar with British words you could end up losing the game. Which happened to me twice. The first time I got a clue that read “a political party”. Being American I thought it was either Republican or Democrat. It was neither. It was “labor!”. We don’t have a “Labor Party!”To make matters worse it was spell “Labour.” I ended up losing that game because of that clue. The second time it happened the clue was “A Monopoly Street.” Again being American I thought it was based on The American version of the game. Which uses streets in Atlantic City. Every letter I used was wrong. The answer was “Regent.” Come to find out it was based on the British version of the game, which uses London streets. I lost that game, too. If you are going to use British clues at least indicate it, so people gave a fair chance of winning.

I have been playing this game only a couple of months but there should be a way to remove completed games once you have finished it. Also if a player does not play after so many days then the game should resign them in lieu of us having to resign a game to be able to continue playing. I like playing people I don’t know because you can meet new friends this way but if they are losing the game just sat there for days and days. Please create an update for this Like a challenge

THE RECENT UPDATE WHERE THERE IS A PIGGY BANK THAT COLLECTS YOUR COINS WHEN YOU HAVE A PERFECT ROUND IS TAKING AWAY COINS THAT WE EARNED. HAVING TO PURCHASE THE BANK RACH TIME IT FILLS UP IS NOT A GREAT WAY TO KEEP PEOPLE PLAYING THIS GAME. IT STARTED OUT AS A GREAT GAME TO PLAY BUT NOW IT IS DOING NOTHING BUT TAKING OUR MONEY.

I am really enjoying the game, there’s always available games to play & if you want an actual “fast paced” game, you can choose for that too. It does seem a bit pricey to play without ads since you can never really “own” the game. Just pay a subscription. It has an error when trying to link it to FB, which apparently they’re currently working on. ★★☞
My issue is the “players” who have actual photos as their avatars. Those photos are all stock photos. Those players show that they’re offline all day but the second I submit my turn (no matter the time of day/night), they instantly are online and make their turn. I pay a subscription while under the impression that I’m playing other players. A fair, earner win/loss. These bots are usually the ones sending random game invites and some will show they’re on a 16 game winning streak but they play horribly and I win with triple the score. I’m playing for a fair game against another player, not a bot. It truly takes the fun out of the game if it’s bot after bot.

Let’s start with the good news: I am addicted to this game. I love word games and I could never find one that would keep me interested in long enough to not delete it. I came across this one and FELL. IN. LOVE. So now that you know that let’s get to why I’m writing this: since the new update my game has been loading. It would get to 15% and say “error” :(. And I do not want to delete this game because I’m scared I would lose my games that I’m currently in, but could we just fix that part. I don’t know if it’s just my game or not, so if I have to delete it to fix it then I will, but I love this game and do not want to get rid of it simply because of a loading error problem.

I absolutely am in love with this game. I can’t give it a 5 though because…for example…I have been playing this game for a little bit, I know most of the words on the boards, but I can play against other people who will guess like 1 or 2 letters each time. Then when it gets closer to the end, and they are losing bad, they will throw 1 or 2 letters on the board and end up winning. It’s not a fair way to win, especially when 90% of the time the one player gets most of the letters on each turn. Then the other person beats you, and there is no other way to explain that. It’s a crappy way to cheat into winning. Especially when you know the words and you can’t guess then cause you wanna play lees words to win at the end.

I finally found a game I enjoy coming back to. For I have downloaded, purchased many many games and apps and this is the only one in 20 years I have not grown bored with and unfortunately since this latest update all I get is the game loads to 35% and then the update button appears. However when I click on upgrade it sends me to the site but all that appears is the button to open it. But when I click on open all that happens is the game pops up with the update button there again. This is occurring on my iPad. My Samsung phone worked just fine. I was able to click on update and it worked as it should. I can’t play the biggest board on my phone due to being able to read the little clues. So please please please fix the issue. Thank you. I’ve been playing this game for a couple of years now. I’ve never seen another like it. It’s truly unique! It’s a mix of crosswords with pictures as clues. Some clues are partial words. It’s so fun to play and you’re exercising your brain at the same time! I’ve never had an issue with opponents playing their turn in a timely manner. In fact,my opponents play so fast I often wonder if they’re bots. Lol...everyone I’ve played is friendly too, sending a polite “good luck” message. I’ve sent this game to my family who enjoy word/strategy games. It’s one of my top favorite games! I thoroughly enjoy it! Developers:A+++ with this one! Thanks so much and God bless y’all!💙

Update-1/1/22-unfortunately,I’m unable to play after the recent update. I continuously receive an error message. I’m bummed out and I feel terrible for my opponents who are patiently waiting for me to play. I’m uninstalling and reinstalling in hopes that’ll fix this issue. Please look into this. Thank you.

I really enjoy playing this game. It is a fun and challenge thinking game. The Only issue I see is I have a bunch of opened games that the other player hasn’t taken their turn in weeks and the game just sits there waiting for them to take their turn. Is there anyway you can put a timer of a few days and if no play made then end the game. I cannot start a new game due to this. Also let us delete old games. Thanks! Wanna keep playing.

I have been playing this game for quite some time, completing hundreds of boards with very few repeats. It is an all around fantastic game. Allowing a player to have days to play their turn during a match is one of my favorite features, it keeps games from becoming stagnant, and there’s no pressure to take a turn immediately. It’s vocabulary boosting, and also works on strategy techniques and memory skills. Updates are smooth and it has very few glitches that I’ve come across. Wonderful job designers. Absolutely a 10 out of 10 game.

I have been playing this super fun (and highly addictive) game for quite a while now. I had to uninstall the game for a bit, but reinstalled it. But it took me back to level 1, and I can't get back to my real level, which is in the 20's. I have sent a few emails, to what says is going to customer support, but I only get the same emails back instantly, that start out by saying "A real person always reads your emails". If that were true, someone would be interested in finding out what was wrong with the game so that they could help me fix it. I need to know how to contact a real person to help me. I pay for a monthly subscription so that I can skip all of the ads. So this is extra frustrating for me. A direct contact support is very important to have for your players. If not for this, I would have given the app 5 stars.

I have been paying for a subscription for this game but went in today and it had deleted my profile pic and taken most of my diamonds that were in the thousands. I keep getting thrown out and a lot of the clues are dodgy and make no sense. I suspect the use of bots, which is so annoying. Won’t be renewing.

I wanna know am I playing against real people or bots? You can't even connect with Facebook to put your profile pic on it anymore.
