FOX 6: Milwaukee News & Alerts Reviews

Often only the first 1-2 paragraphs of an article appear, and photos shown on the opening page aren’t in the actual article. Between that and the unbelievable amount garbage click-bait ads, FOX6 is almost useless. The amount of spelling errors and other mistakes is atrocious. There used to be a link where you could tell someone of an error - that’s gone with this new, gigantic-ly corporate, non-local app. What is the point of this? To inform the local public about anything at all, or just to make money from crap ads about fake things? Milwaukee needs good people, good reporting, good anything. FOX6 is basically useless.

I use FOX6 because I no longer get reception to watch Fox 6 news where I live. However, the live news is often interrupted with 511 live feed or with commercials. Right in the middle of the live news. I’d like to say this is new. However, I have been experiencing these issues for over 5 years. Not positive If FOX6 is causing this or if it’s human error. Though since it’s happening in FOX6 I’m rating FOX6 with a 1 star. Love the news. Cant stand FOX6 .

The new app doesn’t seem to be organized very well. I log on every night to get the days news. The feed is always a combination of a few new stories and lots of older stories, sometimes days old, sprinkled in. It then repeats the same stories while scrolling several times. Makes it look like you don’t have much new news every day.

Useless to try to watch the news live...it often randomly switches to ads or the traffic cams in the middle of news stories. This always happens during what should be the sports segment, too...are there regulations preventing them from showing sports over FOX6 , or...? And most of the time it just never switches back. If I wanted to watch the traffic cam, I’m sure there’s a separate app for that. I’d like to actually watch the news broadcast, please.

If I had a nickel for every push alert I received from FOX6, I’d be upgrading iPhones on a bimonthly basis. Seriously. There appears to be no editorial oversight on the “newsworthiness” of their push alerts. News alerts have ranged from covering the serious/important (like an active shooter situation or a declared winner for an important government office) to the completely non-important. FOX6 is annoying and I’m getting rid of it.

When I get alerts about a particular story, I’ll click on the alert, but FOX6 never goes directly to the story. It just goes to the main page of FOX6 . The previous app version didn’t have this issue. Previous version worked better. It’s annoying because once I’ve clicked on it in my alerts, it disappears.

This new design is terrible. Every time I view it, multiple times a day it shows the same crap. Nothing new, no breaking news. I get more news through Facebook then your app is delivering to your viewers!! I have been on and off of here to see the news and it has been the same stuff AL DAY!! Something is WRONG!! Here it is 10pm and the most recent news is anywhere from 1-9 hours ago??

You will like this upgrade if you like ads and ads disguised as “sponsored content”. As you scroll down, stories that apparently they really, really want you to read repeat (this was also a problem with the old app). Does anybody actually click on the ads, other than accidentally? Sad at what that media’s attempt to share the “news” has turned into.

I only watch Fox 6. Nice, Down to earth staff to start your day off or anytime. I like the weather reports. Seem to be more accurate towards my location.

I think FOX6 is designed like most news apps to get people to click so they get paid on the ads. It is less about news and more about Clickbait. But most phone apps are designed this way. I still use it because there’s not any better app, they’re all mediocre at best.

The new updated version of FOX6 is constantly dropping the connection with a “server error” which appears to be on their end which is very annoying, cannot reload live feed unless you close FOX6 and reopen. needs work

FOX6 should reflect only current news, not news from many days ago. Create a news archive if you want to keep the stories. Example, there are multiple headlines of “Covid Cases and Deaths”, sometimes right above or below the other one with no date on them until you open the news item.

Repeat, repeat, repeat. The same story 3 times. Many stories have been on there for days. If i didn’t read it the first time i’m not going to read it the next time. FOX6 makes no sense. Looks like i’m going to have to look elsewhere for my daily news. You need to rethink what you did and find a new format. VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

This update is more of a downgrade! Not as many articles, no longer able to bookmark saved news, and no search function. Why would anyone consider this an update. Find a different local news app. Hopefully they have another “update” soon that will make it more like the old version!

It would be great to have a keyword search option. So if we want to look for something that we “heard” about we can see if you did a story on it

The old app was so much better. According to most of the reviews, I am not the only one who thinks this. Nothing has changed with FOX6 since it was created. No new news stories, can’t search for older stories, same stories when you scroll FOX6 .

Does anyone who created FOX6 ever look at the reviews?

FOX6 used to send notifications of actual news items. Now I have alerts asking me “how many pillows do you use?” and “how close is too close when driving?” I’m deleting it and looking for a better news app.

It's an OK app and Fox 6 has good coverage, there's some unnecessary stuff like sponsored content and the ads are kinda crummy, but that's not unique to Fox 6. However, this latest update makes FOX6 ask you for permission to track you every single time you open FOX6 , which is incredibly annoying.

The old app was just fine. Now when I scroll down to look at all the news all I see is 4 or 5 stories! Really? I know that there is a lot more news to report. Very disappointed. I will give it a week or so and then probably delete and find a better local news app.

Trying showing some better pictures along with the super brief , barely one paragraph articles. Also ads inhibit app functionality to the point where you just want to close FOX6 . JUNK.

I love the clean new look. It’s super easy to use. Best part, it contains news from my favorite Milwaukee news outlet.

Where are all the news articles?

I don’t like that there’s not a search option to be able to find new stories.
As a result I end up going to other new sources to try to find those stories that I’m interested in reading

Love the updated version of FOX6. Works great and easy to use.

While it is great to see national and international news, I don’t like being limited to only four or 5 articles in a category. For example Local news only showed 5 articles this evening.

FOX6 is a lot easier to read and looks cleaner.

Can no longer search for older articles

Loved previous app way better than competitors, this new app takes them down a level

I liked the old app, but he new one with the constant bombardment of adds in the text... you lost me... I’m done

No widget support

Very discombobulated. Difficult to follow. More sponsored stories than actual news.
