4.8 out of 5
Ads irritating

I initially really liked mobilityware games and downloaded/ purchased a several. I really liked this soduko game and played it every day. However, due to the length of the Royal Match ads, I will be deleting SudokuColor, as I have deleted another. The developers respond when I wrote to them and supposedly one can exit out of the ad after 5/10 seconds (ad last 30-60 seconds). That is not true though. There is no way to exit out of the ads. The developers need to try exiting out on many various platforms and devices. I do not recommend due to the length of the ads.

Obnoxious ads. No paid version. Deleted.

Too bad. I have several other games from this company, all ad-free. Mostly, I like their UI and the daily challenges. Also really love to financially support those developers that make good products. Would be more than happy to buy SudokuColor. Unfortunately, that’s not an option with this game. The ads are incredibly intrusive and distracting (at best), and they actually hurt my eyes/head (at worst). Not sure who thought it was a good idea to have a bunch of flashing, jumping, video motion in front of your face while you’re trying to focus on solving a brain challenge, but they were definitely wrong. Dumped SudokuColor before I had even finished the first puzzle. Truly obnoxious.

I’ll reconsider if a paid version is added.

Grid too small, toolbar & ads too big, no support

This used to be one of my favorite games. The last update changed the layout. The top bar with ads, as well as the bottom toolbar, are too large. The grid itself is smaller and way off-center. I sent a message through SudokuColor 's support option, and I included a screen shot. I asked why this happened, is it a result of the update, will it change back, etc. The response I got was to thank me for my suggestion. What suggestion? Clearly they didn't pay attention to my questions. Unless it's corrected in the next few days, I'm deleting SudokuColor . It's too annoying and their lack of response is discouraging.

Too many ads

I’ve played 1725 games over the past few years with SudokuColor. No real complaints until now. Before you can play you must go through a series of irrelevant ads. In addition between Gabe’s you have to go through another set of ads. No way to X out before finishing. Takes you to App download, you have to close that out then get another ad over and over again. Horrible decision to force people to go through this series of irrelevant and annoying mini videos. I’m looking for another app.

Ad popping up in the middle of the game

Until this last up date you would have gotten 5 stars because really really enjoyed playing this game, however an add for McDonalds popping up in the middle of the game is very very annoying. I play this game for cognitive therapy. The ad interrupts the thought process and therefore is not a benefit for me. If it continues I will have to quit playing. Please take into consideration the older adults and even children with memory issue into account and fix this issue. I have no issues with ads at the beginning or end of the game just not while your playing the game.

Great game, poor management of ads

The game itself is great. But the ads are really annoying. I’m not complaining that there are ads. After all, it’s a free app. So I don’t mind watching ads. But when you say that they can be X’d out after 5 seconds, then different iterations of the same ad keep popping up for a total of 10-15 seconds, that’s annoying. Also, it’s even more annoying when, if you are listening to something while playing, when the banner ad at the top of the screen changes, the sound often just stops. If these problems could be fixed, this would be a perfect, 5-star app.

The ads are annoying

Fun app to play Soduko, but the ads are annoying. Like others have mentioned, you wait for the timer to close an app, and it still takes you to SudokuColor Store to download it. I don’t believe the developer’s response about there being some issue, this isn’t a flaw, it’s designed this way.

I’d be more than happy to have an option to pay for SudokuColor to remove the ads, but there isn’t one.

Also, as certain ads change on the top of the screen while you play, it pauses Apple Music and I have to swipe down to press play. I’ll be removing SudokuColor and finding another to get my Sudoko fix in.

Fun but...

So it is a fun game that I enjoy playing. But, there are some issues. I get that they need to have ads to make money. But several of the ads, even when you hit the x to close it, still take you to the download page for that game. It starts to get really annoying as it takes you away from the game and honestly to some pretty crappy looking games. Also, while I personally am playing just to keep my brain active, there really isn’t any benefits to getting a perfect game. You don’t get extra points or recognition for getting a perfect game versus guessing the whole way through. Also, the points you earn only give you a different name. It would be nice if they gave other advantages, such as cool backgrounds/numbers that you used points to earn. Maybe have specialty assists you could purchase with the points that don’t affect if you got a perfect game or not.

Lots of Fun / Limited Challenge

I love the UI of SudokuColor. The colors, highlights, and skins are bright, high contrast and make reading the game grid easy easy.

The levels of difficulty of low, medium, and high are not all that difficult. The game’s challenge, as a result, is more limited in comparison to other Sudoko apps. It would be great if there was another level of difficulty or two.

The hint feature is also rather limited, it offers only a question mark (?) to identify target squares. It would be helpful to have a tiered hint that explains the logic of identifying solutions as a way of building skill over multiple plays.

SudokuColor would also benefit from a notes feature so you can record possible numbers by cell in the grid. The recorded notes would be updated automatically based on solved squares.

The game has a nice victory celebration at the end of each win, tiered achievements, and points accumulated toward these achievements that add a fun factor over and above the UI, sound affects, and animations.

App is good, Wish ads could be removed

I enjoy this version of sudoku the best. I actually enjoy the colors for the different numbers and growing the picture collection. My only complaint is I wish there was a way to get rid of the ads. I know app developers need ads to keep SudokuColor running but I actually wouldn’t mind paying to remove ads because I can’t listen to music or anything else while playing because it will stop every few seconds because of the ad banner during gameplay. Overall not a bad app but would definitely like the option for ad removal.

Good game, but could be improved

This is no different than other sudoku games available, and it works as it should. The color option would be great for beginners.

I was really hoping it would work the other way - I tap a number at the bottom, it highlights the number, then just tap all the spots it goes in, instead of tap the spot, tap the number, tap the spot, tap the number, and so on and so on and on. It would be much less frustrating and time consuming that way!

Well Designed Site

As a certified elementary school teacher, I know that to become proficient at any skill, there needs to be positive feedback and copious amounts of practice geared to be not too easy and, also, not too frustrating.
This site offers great teaching techniques and practice from very basic to very advanced. Trying to do Sudoku with paper and pencil discouraged me immediately. This format has taken me from very easy to very hard,at my own speed. It’s been a nice confidence booster in general.

Bailey… is absolutely correct

First thing an ad popped up that just said, “UPGRADE THIS GAME” , no heading, nothing…I, too went to check it out to find an entirely different game. I was discussed with whomever posted his ad…..
****I have discoculia (I do what dyslexic readers do….by misplacing numbers…ALGEBRA in College was a nightmare!!!! ) I have always had a hard time trying to play Sudoku! The COLORS HELPED!!! I just played three games to completion! I am grinning. The colors help me keep track of the numbers. So let me say…THANK YOU!

Great game environment... one small suggestion for improvement

On other sudoku apps, I have used a notes feature to keep track of possible answers, and, at first, I missed that here... but I quickly realized SudokuColor provides the same kind of clues in other ways. When a cell is highlighted, the numbers that could fit there, based on the square the cell is in, become bold in the array below the grid. That’s very helpful.

The one thing I might suggest is an autocomplete feature, which would work when I’ve placed all but one number... sometimes that means I’m plugging the same number in four or five times... an autocomplete at this point would be nice.

Sudoku

I used to do a sudoku daily from the Houston Chronicle. After going through some big changes in my life in which I lost 4 members of my own immediate family (husband, mother & both of my grown children) I sort of got away from it. I’m back now, and though I am currently facing Stage 3 large cell lung cancer, I plan to do it to help me get through my chemo, and radiation treatments. Viva SUDOKU!!

Five stars to you! You’ve had an extraordinarily tough time, but with your winning attitude you are bound to beat the odds! I’m in your corner, now, too! Yay! To strong women - led by you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Programming - 3 requests

Love your version of the game. Easy to follow and you can get really proficient on hardest level….but,
1. I paid for ad free MobilityWare Solitaire and Free Cell - please give me an option to stop seeing ads in Sudoku. I am willing to pay
2. Add statistics for “perfect win” since that is the goal of this game
3. Give me an expert level where I can’t see highlighted options for a selected cell nor how many of a given “number” are left to be used

Ads won’t lose

SudokuColor is fun but the developer allows too many ads that you can’t close and that freeze up SudokuColor . One of the ads that does this is “Medicare-Plans.” You have to close SudokuColor , wait 15-20 minutes, and then try to open it again. Even then, the same ad pops up and it happens all over again. The developer is trying to get you to pay for the premium version of the game, with no ads.

Pure Logic

Love this game and find my skill has increased so much since I played it for the first time over twenty years ago! I never use the little numbers in a square anymore as I’ve gotten use to how to logically place the numbers where they go. I may have to guess on just one, which is probably the “key” to the rest as from there they just seem to fall in place! Love the colors!

Love it!

I love this, and many other mobility ware, game(s). However, there is one “ad” that has appeared 3 days in a row and almost had me downloading a different app. The “ad” is telling me I need to “upgrade” my app. It is very misleading. Indicates my version is out of date and an upgrade is available. I believe in truth-in-advertising and this makes me mad! I hope you’re able to stop this. Thank you

HARD TO SEE GRAPHICS…look elsewhere

A unique new take on an old, favorite game of mine! Graphics are beautiful, brilliant colours. Only problem being, once all of a particular number are used, they become TOO LIGHT for those of us who are visually impaired. Elderly in particular, require those numbers to be bolded out to increase visibility & ease gameplay. After writing this review & contacting developers about this problem, they seem not to care so my recommendation for those of us who love Sudoku…look elsewhere for better visual graphics for those with impaired (or even good) vision!
