10TV WBNS Columbus, Ohio Reviews

We always enjoyed watching channel 10, but it is no longer offered by our local cable service. When I watch a little news on my phone channel 10 app, Meigs County isn’t even shown on the weather map! Our two oldest grandchildren are students at The Ohio State University- we would like to have your news channel so we know a little more about Columbus. With the coronavirus updates given by the governor, we don’t see them. We are the poorest county ( or second poorest) - we have no hospital, no public transportation, no jobs. The school district we live in is the largest employer in the county. Just a little background on us- I do appreciate getting to get a little news from your channel on my phone.

Even when the new is horrible, sad, or ridiculous, you make me feel safe. I miss Chris so much.

Thank You Mayor Ginger for doing the right thing. Thank You 10 TV for reporting it. I don’t understand why wearing a mask is a political thing. It I s either the right thing to do or the wrong thing. Even you Republicans know what is safe. Stop being stupid.

I find it so upsetting to see all the news outlets in central Ohio not cover all the news. Where are the cameras when you edit out the joke of a president we have. Why don’t you show the investigations into Hunters legal problems. Larry Househloder is kicked out or Ohio senate, when he’s only been accused of a crime. What happened to innocent until proven guilty. The news is not a court of law. You should defend his rights. The people who elected him just had their vote nullified. That’s the crime. I’m not saying he’s innocent, I’m saying his rights as an American was stripped of him.
Bill Cosby isn’t a great role model like you all gushed over years ago. But he has civil rights as an American. The news media today strips us all of that right You make the news not report it.

Oh wait. A 4 year old could make a better app than this, why don’t you go and interview one and get some ideas. You could cover yourselves with advertisement stickers and walk around looking just as dumb as 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio.

I wake up. I open 10TV news. Every day. One day it said I had to download new app, I thought okay... nothing wrong with old one however maybe this will be even more amazing. It’s exact opposite.

I click on story to read, and while I’m scrolling on my phone, I end up tapping an ad. The ad opens my internet browser which isn’t what I wanted. So I have to close that, go back to 10TV and now the page I was on is either different or it’s jumped to a different part of the page and I have to partially re-read to find my place again.
Either that or I end up reading the end of the article and it spoils the journalists story.

Shame on you 10TV. Thanks for forcing me to go to NBC4 which isn’t much better than this crap but at least it doesn’t open 10 windows on my phone that wasn’t intended. It’s hard to find the story amongst the ads, it loads very slow, and the hot keys at the bottom are stupid.

Too many ads, poor layout, where is the menu to select content desired. Did they not allow users to test this before launch. Would have given zero stars if available. Who is advising 10TV management, don’t want social media just want headlines efficiently laid out and tiled without being forced to see more ads.

The reviews written should be on 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio not 10TV news, their news is great, the new app is very very bad and a walk back from the previous version. The ratings appear rigged. One day the average rating is 1.6, now the average is 4.3. Someone appears to be stuffing the ballet box. This even though almost all written reviews are highly negative. Can we not trust the ratings from Apple Store any more?

App is horrible way to many ads, I get more ads the news articles I’m able to read without the page jumping all around from loading new ads. Very difficult to navigate. This is no longer a news source seems more like an ad source!! I uninstalled 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio and won’t be using it any longer until they make huge improvements and get rid of all of the ads.. if they ever do this was my only new source app I used guess I gotta start looking. However it’s total garbage and I really can’t believe they would release something like this. I’d be ashamed as a new outlet to be associated with it!!! Can’t give any lower of a score or I would.

I appreciate the local news and weather. I am disgusted by the obvious liberal bias in headlines and stories that any kind of political element. Examples are glorification of BLM riots yet vilification of the so called Capital “insurrection” (it was an FBI inside job designed to entrap fringe nut-jobs and allow a smear of all legitimate supporters of the President), espousing all the fear, gloom and doom of the COVID pandemic while discrediting proven, cost-effective and readily available remedies (it was a designed problem created by big pharma and China with a premeditated solution to extort billions from the government and insurance companies), etc.

At least once a day and usually more when switching stories or categories, it just gives me the white screen with the blue spinning circle in the middle. The only way to fix the problem is to shut off the phone. The iOS software is always current and my wireless is very fast at 200 megabits. I like 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio when it is working it is 5 stars but really aggravated otherwise when it is a zero. Fortunately in Columbus, the other TV stations apps work fine.

I have not been a fan of 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio since the redesign, I preferred the old format with all news in one feed instead of creating sections. But my main issue is after I’m on 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio for 5-10 minutes it freezes and will not open additional headlines. I have to then close 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio and reopen but typically it annoys me so I do not bother. Lucky for 10TV all other local tv news apps are worse than theirs so I’ve continued to use it but keep looking for other options for local news. I have an iPhone 8 with software up to date

I love 10tv and I’ve had 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio since 2009. However this new version is horrible. It’s slow, lags and drains my battery. I don’t care for the layout either it’s hard to navigate. I like simple!

The worst is the adds! I understand that’s how you make your money but the layout of sentence add sentence add popup add sentence makes it extremely difficult to read. Plus I will be in the middle of reading something and an add will popup and push the story down the page.

I’m now searching for a new news outlet that’s at least readable.

I have to echo other users; no matter what settings you choose, this thing is a epic battery eater. Waaaaaaay too many ads (tiktok? Really?). The videos stutter and restart multiple times. The articles constantly jump trying to load ad content. There’s an ADA angle here, if I were visually impaired this jumping would be brutal. I was a habitual 10TV app user and really liked the simplicity of the old app. I gave the new version time for sanding off the rough edges, but time’s up, y’all. Please test this stuff before launching it into the public like this.

I wake up every morning to read the news and weather everyday for years but not anymore. Since the update you seem to think people want to read your ads. Well guess what they don’t. 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio is cluttered with ads and then a story here and there. Plus it drains your battery with background activity all day long, even if you shut off background activity on your phone. NBC4 is no better but at least I can find article’s to read. This is not a news station anymore it is an advertisement company. Bring back the old app.

I understand the need for advertising revenue, but the rolling ads that follow you around are super annoying. I guess it’s a little better than the NBC4 app that has an ad every other story, but it’s still too intrusive for my liking.

That being said, the layout is much cleaner and simpler. Much easier to navigate.

I absolutely love the new app, I’ve been waiting for the Tegna web and app experience, it’s very nice maybe a few more adds than I would like to see would be my only complaint. Much cleaner streamlined user interface. Love the favorites and customizable alerts and weather. Much better than the old app.

This latest update is absolutely horrible. Who in the world approved this? He or she should be fired, along with the designer of 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio . Too many ads. Not enough news. And then the same stories repeat and repeat as you scroll, just in different font and/or size. It’s not even worth my time opening 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio . Based on the other reviews of this subpar update, you’ve lost a lot of 10TV app users to your competitors. I’m now one of them. It would be more beneficial to just completely start over then to even try to lure people back with an update. It’s THAT bad.

Adding to my previous post..... after a few days, I find more and more of which to be critical. Yes, the ads are cumbersome. Too many ‘clicks’ to find worthwhile content, etc. Also, while I appreciate being ‘greeted’, I don’t need the 3-4 second delay caused by 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio saying ‘Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening’. Sorry team WBNS/Tenga.....this just isn’t even close to what we should expect in 2020.

Understanding where I am in 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio is challenging so far. Also swiping to read next story stops at 5 for me.
I am encouraged though based on this apps predecessor.

Most of the time, 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio is pretty good, especially the Verify section. However, after about 3 articles, it suddenly stops opening articles and just has a buffering-type circle and just sits there, not opening anything.

This has happened for a long time, and none of the updates they do ever fix it. I have great wifi, and no other apps do this, only 10TV.

Wonder newscasts such a wonderful team. They are like family in my home as I watch the events of the day. From the weather to sports and all areas of the news everyone is so good at what they do! I called Channel 10 about a month and a half ago suggesting Jerry do 30 second or one minute spots during the unrest in Columbus. I really enjoy all the air time you gave him. He’s such a pleasure to watch and listen to. I have watched him and Channel 10 for over 45 years. Keep up the good work. Ron Foote

Your unable to expand the viewing screen on a tablet or phone for a full view while watching a live broadcast as the old app. In other words, the viewing screen does not expand.

The banner pop up over the viewing screen cannot be closed.

To many categories to select. Over complicated for those not proficient with 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio

10TVWBNSColumbusOhio continues to update draining the battery

The previous app was user friendly without too much navigation

This totally stinks now. Lots of clutter. A Google banner ad always at the top. Ads popping up in between the stories as you scroll. Starting from the top scrolling down there were 3 ads and only 8 articles. As you scroll farther down when the ads populate it makes the page jump. Terrible terrible terrible. It also seems to have a lot less news articles. More ads and less news. I’ll be visiting 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio a lot less. It has always been my first news app of the day because it was so simple and clean and uncluttered.

10TVWBNSColumbusOhio needs a quick redesign. Where does one go to find topics such as weather,sports, business, etc. ? All that shows is a single screen which one has to scroll to another screen,, blindly trying to find subjects of interest. The old app had multiple windows and a pull down menu. There is no other news app that follows this stupid format. Bold type greetings and pretty faces won’t make up for easy accessible information that is missing.

This new version has so many ads and other options to read that I cannot find the news articles anymore. Following a news article from start to finish is near impossible. Remember the adage, KISS. Keep it simple Simon. Yes I know I changed the words..lol. Please fix before I abandon your news service. Thanks.

Battery-drainer...4m onscreen, 15 hours offscreen activity! Turned off “Background App Refresh” to see if that helps.

Ads reload while scrolling which causes the content to jump. Clickbaity ads everywhere. Ads in front of videos. Ads within the stories.

The old app certainly had its flaws, and I understand ads are necessary, but 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio is a mess making it hard to use.

I’ll still catch you on TV. While the new app may be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it’s no longer user friendly. I understand the need for ad revenue, but there is an acceptable limit. The weather map doesn’t have near as many options in layers as the old app either, which I found to be very useful and used frequently.

Like I said, I’ll catch you on TV, but I’m going to have to pass on the new 10TV app.

Ok so I figured out how to navigate the radar map. I do agree with the other comments on there doesn’t seem to be as much news as on the old app. And 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio seems to jump back a couple stories when you try to scroll down thru the news stories.

This used to be my go to app but they have gone to a similar format that drove me away from NBC4 and keeps me out of the Columbus Dispatch app - small fonts and ads that pop in while scrolling. I don’t mind ads but bouncing banners and pop in ads is super frustrating and a major aggravation that I just don’t need. Guess it’s the ABC6 app go forward.

The Layout of the old app felt better, Right now 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio has too many ads, laggy, and feels like it was rushed. If you update 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio please make a better UI.

It’ll take getting used to, but it’s no better or worse than the previous app.

The old app was outdated and in need of a refresh but this isn’t it. I can only read headline news and get weather. There is no way for me to filter by topic anymore or get older stories. 10TVWBNSColumbusOhio needs more content. Hopefully they will add it.
