The most racist game yet

The game is racist!!! What make it worse is that the creators are all adults and they know what they did. Today while on my instagram an ad of this game popped up, the begging of the ad showed an man, women, and a African American male. This alone didnt bother me until i stared at the ad little longer. The ad had an african American baby.. while both parents are white. The ad showed the African Male scared that he been caught, and the white male mad because the baby is black. Through the whole ad it was showing how the incident happen. Now if you know history you will know that back then in slavery the “Master’s” wife would have affairs behind their back with slaves. If they get pregnant they would tell the master and lie about it until it due date. When the baby is out, the baby would sometimes come out black and thats how the master would know about the wife affair with the slave, the slave wither end up punish, killed, or other. This is what the Ad showed. Except the killing part. This game is not okay neither is the racist ad either. This game deserves to get taken down too.

racist ads

I already saw another review from someone else about the ads, but jeez. I saw an ad come up where the girl had to choose in between a dress and a native american “costume” and she chose the latter for a hunting trip. When she showed up, the guys was furious that she was dressed like that. so much racism and cultural appropriation. i don’t understand how this game is even allowed to be on StoryngtonHall store or how it was even created tbh. and the developers response to the other review about the racist ads was not enough. “we’re sorry to hear that. we’ll have things investigated.” that doesn’t help at all. that’s a very bare minimum response to a very valid concern. this also tells a lot about the developers and that they must think that ads like these are the only way to intrigue people to play the game, but just come up with new ones that aren’t racist or culturally insensitive.

Bad Advertising

Like I said for another game, developers, please stop using a freezing/ distressed mother and baby to advertise your game. That situation has nothing to do with the game you advertise. It’s disturbing and causing mothers with babies anxiety. I have a baby, she’s my world. I will not download a game when shown a scary situation. The game itself is great, a fun way to kill some time while baby naps. But watching those ads is such a turn off..And you know it’s mostly mothers playing these games. So please find a better, more happy way to advertise your games. We need more positivity in our face, not some depressing situation that makes life worse. We all have enough going on..I’ll give five stars when it’s all stopped. I even spend money on this game because it’s fun and obviously someone’s job and I appreciate that. People really love dogs, so maybe use that somehow? Thanks

Gets ridiculous really fast.

I like home decor games, so I downloaded and played for about an hour and now I’m deleting it. Every time I try a match three game, I go in hoping it won’t become impossible in 10 minutes, but they all do and this game is no exception. It’s like gambling - it’s all luck whether you’ll win a level or not. I would rather it actually require you to think like the word puzzle games do. Also, like others have said, it gets difficult quickly (again, like gambling) and the tasks are ridiculous. In my quest to fix up and redecorate, I barely did anything to the house - my stars are wasted on dumb tasks like changing clothes multiple times, having tea and reading a letter, not to mention the amount of stars it takes just to clean a table. No thanks, I’ll go play Wordington instead.

Enjoyable game but

Love everything about this game except the levels are way to hard to pass and they is not enough time allocated to do all the tasks expected even with boosters. Can you please update to easier level playing fields before I just completely give up!,,,! You really need to offer more boosters and cut the needs of each level. You have too many tasks needed to complete on each level. Come on already. I love this game and everything about it. But I’m going to have to delete it because I can’t pass the upper levels. Please don’t ask me what levels I find difficult because they all are too difficult. Take some of the tasks away for each level or allow a lot more time. Plus when are they going to keep cleaning up this mansion. It’s filthy. Need to move on with the different outfits also.

Great at first

I truly enjoy the game, but people like me that can only play about 5-10 min…this game is not as rewarding as it used to be. Although it’s fun, the higher levels are too hard for someone that can’t devote real time to the game. I guess that’s how you really make money. Problem is, if you don’t have lots of time or money on your hands, the game loses its luster after part 3.
It takes way too many stars to complete one simple task.
Also, the rewards for watching videos are minuscule. Half the time you play, you are watching 30 sec ads to try to get a few extra coins. If you play for 5 minutes…your are watching at least 2 minutes of ads. That’s pretty terribleness. Then when you “earn” a prize, you have to watch another ad to get your prize.
Very disappointed with game play and changes lately.

I would give it 5 star but..

The game is awesome but their are mini problems like I can’t login with Facebook or game center and also the Players have to win difficult match games only to waste their hard-earned points on idiotic tasks such as changing their clothes, cleaning a room, getting a chair for the fat Uncle to sit down on, cleaning some cobwebs in one room, etc. As other reviewers say, the match game becomes too difficult too fast and players use up their small amount of moves fast or have to make in app purchases to continue. Would love it if rather than wasting points on silly stuff, you could do more decorating and the "dress-up" that was deceivingly advertised. After about 100 levels of match I was finally able to do some decorating. Liked the realistic cleaning though, and the characters.

Fun but tries to force you to spend money

So first, this game is pretty fun. I enjoy the story aspect, and I like puzzles. As for the money part: This game gives impossible goals, and then encourages players to spend money just so they can beat an otherwise unbeatable level. I don't mind spending money on games I enjoy. However, when a game is supposed to be free and then the devs try to force you to spend money to advance, I delete it. I would be happy to watch ads to get extra moves; that's how I found this game - but I have only had that option once, and it only gave me one extra move. After trying one such impossible level until I ran out of lives (hint - it took several hours!), I am deleting this game. I won't be forced to spend money.

Problems

I play this game 6 to 7 hours a day! (Retired) But I can’t seem to get the 5 Red Hearts players have given me! I’ve tried asking for help when I’ve earned 5 hearts, I’ve tried waiting until I’m out of hearts to ask for them when the game prompts me. But nothing seems to work. The game offers me 1 or 3 hearts. I hardly get the Miracle Box after I’ve earned it. I have to play 2-3 more times before game offers it. The colored ball freezes up on Fortune Teller Shop more offen then not. I’ve tried deleting game for a few hours then downloading it again hoping that would help. I’ve asked for help from game but No reply except they will send my concerns to the proper department. I would really like to continue with game but it’s frustrating! Is there any HELP out there?

Meh

I love the story element of this game, but what I don’t like is that you almost have to move at a snails pace when playing levels because if you go too fast it doesn’t register some of the moves you make, wasting power ups and moves. I just had to restart a level because I used the one more move option, used a stamp first, but it didn’t register my match made to complete the task and it caused a fail. If it isn’t the slow paced levels, it’s the tedious need for the stars. You need a star for each an every thing in the game, which kind of cuts out any immersion. Like it will start some drama, then cut in with “go fetch me this” and it’s right back to the levels. There’s not much of a story and level balance.

Other than all this, this would be a 5 star game.

Ridiculous tasks!

Players have to win difficult match games only to waste their hard-earned points on idiotic tasks such as changing their clothes, cleaning a room, getting a chair for the fat Uncle to sit down on, cleaning some cobwebs in one room, etc. As other reviewers say, the match game becomes too difficult too fast and players use up their small amount of moves fast or have to make in app purchases to continue. Would love it if rather than wasting points on silly stuff, you could do more decorating and the “dress-up” that was deceivingly advertised. After about 100 levels of match I was finally able to do some decorating. Liked the realistic cleaning though, and the characters.

Better than most match three games being mass produced.

I’m surprised at the above average quality this game provides, unlike some that force disgusting narratives in their ads to be used as ad revenue for the only purpose of drawing in negative attention. All the same, if I would suggest anything for improvement, my suggestion (being very minuscule.) would be to change the cover art for StoryngtonHall . Like most match three app games, it uses a misleading image to bring in players that has nothing to do with the game or plot. I understand this is a common practice, but I think this game is good enough to not need that sort of thing. As an artist myself, I would like to suggest as the cover a picture of Jane (setting would be the beginning of the game) looking upon her new house while struggling to carry her books, that way, it would be accurate, and interesting! Other than the small detail, well done!
(P.S. To whoever wrote the dialogue, I very much enjoyed the references to Simon Langton’s Pride and Prejudice or Pride and Prejudice in general, the fairly witty conversations, and of course the amount of lore.)
(P.P.S. I would have given a 4 1/2 star instead of just 4, but StoryngtonHall store’s rating system doesn’t allow it.)

Just one issue on waiting

I love this game and the time period, not to mention the budding romance that you know will happen from the beginning but the anticipation is driving me crazy until the two actually confess it to one another. My only issue with this game is that it doesn’t update every week like all the others do. This one updates sometimes a month or two after you complete the previous update. Oh and one more thing. How long do we play the game before we know if that black cat over the stove is dead or not? Poor thing has been laying above all that heat since the game started, lol. But anyways, that’s why I took away a star. They just need to update more than once a month or two. Once in was three months. Other than that, it’s a great game with an interesting storyline.

Great game, but...

It has wonderful graphics and interesting story behind it, but I think it needs some changes to make it more exciting. For example watching an advertisement should give you more than just one additional move, after all we are spending 30 seconds to watch it. It should be same 5 extra moves, as with buying them with the game coins. It is probably easier to give a player a choice - to spend coins or watch add. Besides something like cleaning a table shouldn’t take so many levels to play - it’s getting boring and discouraging to play. The other thing that needs to be modified - the amount of doubling your coins at the end of the level, otherwise it is getting also discouraging to continue to play, unless you will spend some real money. Who can do it - will spend it anyway, but kids have only that much of their allowance...
I didn’t have any glitches or game hiccups and the game loads quite fast without long stain pictures between levels. So, overall it’s a great game! I wish all the luck for developers of it!

Circus season ?

I would have initially given this game a 5 due to the excellent storyline and graphics. I am being generous giving 4 stars at this time ,however...🙁
Why have you all been ruining the game by taking away opportunities to earn boosts , raising the difficulty level so high, and the straw that broke the 🐪 camels back, this circus season ??
I want my swan pond back where it belonged. I will not be BULLIED into buying a royal pass ! Your circus season pass is ridiculous! I have willingly spent a good sum of money on this game while having “fun” But this next level crap your pulling has infuriated me and unless you stop it, not only will I stop spending my hard earned money, I will stop playing this game altogether

Missing challenge

Love this game but the last two days water lily challenge is missing. Doesn’t show up to play this part of the game. Everything else seems to be working fine. Bummed out because I won’t be able to finish. Please check if there is a problem. Thank you. Edit to post. Water lily challenge is fine now and was able to complete it. Again thanks for this great game. Challenging at times but throughly enjoy levels, decorating and even the funny dialogue.

Glitch

UPDATE- The glitch went away after a few more tasks were completed. I do love this game! The time period is really cool and I like the little fact sheets about each character! It does get a little annoying when levels get too hard but the makers are generous with power-ups and coins!

I’m really upset, I actually really enjoy the game but when I get to the fireplace (very early on) it glitches and keeps growing/shrinking on a loop. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded the whole app to try and fix it. It’s upsetting that this glitch is ruining the whole game play for me.

Storyngton Hall

Although this game is very similar to other games I’ve played, it is different in the storyline and dynamic with this being mother/daughter. It demonstrates the mother’s wish to marry her daughter off while the daughter has other plans. The other, similar games have the young lady that is either single, with child or a child in tow. Each struggles to restore a lavish home she inherits from a family member that leave her their mansion in a state of disarray. I suppose I will have to play the game in it’s entirety to see how it all turns out

Terrific thank you :)

First off love the theme! I adore ‘period’ stories, games, etc. I always find these types of games entertaining, but the problem usually is that they make it impossible to progress unless you are super good or willing to spend real money. This one is challenging, but it seems the ‘bot’ genuinely wants you to progress until the end, so it is helpful and not misleading ( I’ve only just begun a half hour ago, so we’ll see 😂) I don’t often write reviews but this was definitely worth my time, I’m really satisfied I was shown the ad to this game. Thank you 😊

Very enjoyable!

I am always amazed at the number of reviews that complain about getting past levels. You don't have to spend money - it just makes the game move faster. Programmers gotta eat, folks! I am on level 422 and throw about $5 a week on it. I enjoy it and feel it is more than worth it. I also find this game far more generous with free power-ups etc.

The storyline actually sticks to the period pretty well! Thank you for not posting ads for this game involving pregnancy tests and abandonment. And romance happened at a much slower pace in the past - do not be in a rush players!

If I have any criticism, it would be the lack of admirable characters. Even our heroine is a bit snippy. Poor Mr Allen is dealing with so much, mom and dad are not exactly role models. And Mr de Ross - May I please drop a piano on him?

Thank you for a great game!
