Has an extreme amount of bugs.

When first opening PennStateGo , you are greeted with a page full of options that you may need. Many very helpful in your day to day life. But as soon as you click one, the problems start to arise. To start, the messages feature rarely works as it should. PennStateGo also has you log in often, but won’t let you auto fill and will sometimes just not log in.

The biggest pet peeve is how none of the icons lead you to that section like you would expect. Most of them open a page of safari in PennStateGo . PennStateGo renders itself pointless due to how you can do everything faster by a google search. PennStateGo needs an extreme amount of bug fixes before it is usable.

It’s fine

It’s alright. Really useful in certain aspects, really annoying in other. Sometimes I rather just open the Penn State websites on chrome or safari instead of on PennStateGo , and the notifications keep saying that they’re unread even though I press “mark all as read” every time they show up. Sometimes it feels like PennStateGo is just using the website and didn’t change the function for the phone experience (example: the maps). Has a lot of potential and some of it is good but a fair bit wasted

Better than before

It works better than a while ago but still contains issue such as notifications won’t let to be marked as read. Also, I’m not sure why but it still logs you out from time to time?

The most pointless app ever built.

What better way a school to spend your tuition than to develop an app that uses a laggy and outdated embedded browser that literally just takes you to a mobile webpage. Oh you want Canvas. It just opens the Canvas app. If you want to see your email? Well it doesn’t use The Outlook app they pushed on students. It uses that crappy outdated browser again. What if I log in? Will it work then? Of course not. If you log in, the only thing it does is continue to ask you to log in when you touch anything. Do you know why we actually need? A new LionPATH app. Not this monstrosity.

Won’t keep me logged in

The main idea behind PennStateGo is great and there’s a lot of convenience behind it but, I have to log back into PennStateGo every time I relaunch PennStateGo . This strips away the convenience that PennStateGo initially offers.

Beyond that, the message notifications don’t go away when an item is read and sometimes the tapping on the item doesn’t even register.

Cool app, needs work.

Convenient for student

Just downloaded and everything just flows, it’s a nice user friendly UI. Along with the simplicity everything that you need is all accessible from PennStateGo , it’s really a time save when trying to switch between lion path on the web and another penn state system such as Canva or the penn email.

Still needs design work.

While I am glad PennStateGo finally exists, and appreciate all the functionality it contains, it could use some design tweaks.

From the main screen you get a 4x5 grid of icons. While I would have done it differently, there’s nothing wrong with that.

However, the quick access menu at the bottom is grossly underutilized. It contains the least important items, when it should contain the most frequently used items.

Moving into the LionPATH navigator, the first issue I see is that all the categories are expanded by default. There should be an expandable option for each item (I.e. My Schedules, My Finances, etc..) rather than showing it all to the user immediately.

Continuing, when a user makes any selection, the page goes white with “updating” at the bottom for a few seconds. The main concern here is the blank screen which refreshes once updated. It is fine, but the user experience would be more fluid if the “updating” was an overlaying text box on the previous scene rather than dedicating an entire window to “updating”.
Update in the background, and then take the user to the new scene. Never take the user to a blank screen.

The “dining” tab takes you to the website menu for each dining hall. For mobile users, the menu could be optimized. I actually took ist 311 with a group who dedicated their project to redesigning the menu for mobile use, and I expect they would have contacted Food Services.

Otherwise, PennStateGo looks great. Visually appealing, functional in all the ways I could find. I couldn’t identify any “bugs” as of yet.

About Time

I was wondering when they were going to consolidate all their apps. I definitely like it and it will probably get better as long as they consistently keep it updated on a weekly basis. Or as as needed basis.

Just downloaded but wow

Penn State has a history of less than stellar apps and websites, but this is actually really comprehensive and easy to use. Lionpath, CATA loops, dining menus, even the libraries’ website (plus a bunch more). Nice.

This app is bomb!

PennStateGo has everything you could ever possibly need. No complaints here!

Finally!!

Finally!! A well designed app that has most of the resources that you need in one place. Thank you Penn State!

By

Better than the old app

Way better than the old lionpath app

By

Finally

Why hasn’t this been created before? PennStateGo has it all , it’s perfect!

By

Doesn’t work

When you log into one of the apps (LionPath and etc) you need authentication to get in. Once I authenticate it, it tells me unknown error. Therefore, I have to go to the web to do it myself rather than go through PennStateGo .

By

Everything is in one place

I got tired of logging into canvas and lionpath separately on Safari

By

Why?

I don’t understand the point of PennStateGo. It’s just a captive browser with bookmarks. Even at that it’s very slow and requires constant re-authentication.

By

You need this app.

Amazing, absolute perfection. Best app for PSU students, has everything you need.

By

Best Education app so far

User friendly

By

Start Over

You really only use it for mobile food ordering, and even that doesn’t work half the time.

By

Took suggestions

Before they developed PennStateGo they emailed students, including myself, for a few rounds of design suggestions. I’m glad to see they took those suggestions.

PSU Student

Much needed and easier to use!
