This company could not design a slower more glitchy problematic website and app if it were tasked with the project! Regularly freezes, lags like dial up, and has zero tech support. Our company uses them and it’s the most frustrating part of getting paid by far!
It took nearly an hour to get to my profile. The temporary password doesn’t work. When I finally got in, it had my name but no onboarding process was found. I had to go through multiple verification codes to finally be able to change the password. ALL but one (suspicious) review states how awful HeartlandPayroll is. I had to force my internet security to allow me to access the website.
I downloaded HeartlandPayroll because their browser website DOES NOT WORK. This also has SO MANY issues. Shows nothing half the time and puts out an error message after logging in when trying to view paychecks or anything but the Home Screen. PLEASE FIX YOUR SYSTEMS!!
Doesn’t work well for everyone. My app is missing a lot…time and location missing schedule missing time off missing it’s been almost a month now and the problem still hasn’t gotten corrected. At times it seems to have a virus flashing on and off in red encrypted symbols.
I have reset the password and tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing changes. Don’t try to get HeartlandPayroll it doesn’t work and is more of a pain to even offer it and try to get it to work then just logging in from a desktop computer.
Definitely worthless.
HeartlandPayroll is junk. It’s very important that I am able to retrieve my paystubs when needed and 90% of the time I try to use HeartlandPayroll it crashes. You would think with how important a persons paystubs are, that they would put some actual time and work into HeartlandPayroll. I hate that my company uses it and really wish there was an alternative. I would give this zero stars if it was possible.
Every time I have to check in to work, I have to turn my phone off and then back on just to get it to work, other wise it just sits at the load screen and does nothing, that’s overly annoying/frustrating and it makes me look like I’m 5 or 10min late for work everyday (not cool), the other thing is, having to keep your location turned to on all the time running in the background is BAD for your phones battery life, I have definitely had a decrease in my phone holding a charge all day and at work, I really feel this is a app for if your place of work gives you a work phone to use this on, it shouldn’t be on your own personal everyday phone, if I have to get new iPhone because the battery dies, is HeartlandPayroll/work going to pay for a new one?? I currently can not afford a new phone, also don’t really like the whole having to take a picture to clock in and out, where are those being sent/used/stored/ect.????

HeartlandPayroll is the most infuriating piece of garbage I have ever had to use. Currently, I can’t log in so I have no idea how much I’m making this week and HeartlandPayroll is completely broken. If you don’t wait until it is done loading to click anything on the side menu, then HeartlandPayroll just breaks and never stops loading. I hate HeartlandPayroll and I don’t think it can even be fixed.
Both me and my wife work for the same company and they use this payroll app, everytime we try to login it shows some guy with a girl and a child at a laptop, and just will NOT load. Can login via the website but says ‘no accounts are assigned’ or whatever. Very occationally i can actually view my pay stubs, 99% of the time i have issues like this, PLEASE fix HeartlandPayroll. It really has potential to be a good app if it worked
HeartlandPayroll is by far the worst possible app I have ever used. Our company switched to heartland at the beginning of the year and it is terrible. When logging in it goes to the dashboard, tries to load and then takes you right back to the login. You cannot make changes to anything, personal info included. Just terrible! You can access anything via the website either, it just does the same thing.
HeartlandPayroll is a steaming pile of dog excretion. If you clock out for lunch, by the time you open HeartlandPayroll to clock in it’ll log you out for some unknown reason. You’ll select the “don’t ask me again for 45 days” but lo and behold it’ll ask you again the next day or two. You’re better off logging in via a web browser. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve had to email my HR to fix my clock ins due to this “easy and convenient” app. Ha!
I know it’s hard to build a truly solid app and website and keep it consistently running well but spend the money. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with an app where I can never just view what I need to without having to logon when I’m already logged in. Go to login and it’s always the wrong password. How when it just worked yesterday? I’ve had to change my password 9 times in 5 months because it’s constantly saying it’s invalid.
I’m 35 and I’ve had dozens of jobs throughout my life most of which I’ve been able to use direct deposit since I started working in the early 2000s. Heartland by far is the worst experience I’ve ever had with any sort of online HR cloud, suite.
It’s 2023 and they don’t have a calendar sync feature. You can’t leave HeartlandPayroll running in the background and relaunch it without getting an error.
It made me create two profiles because you need an account to view my schedule and another account for payroll they’re not the same account you have two separate accounts for the same person.
To view the paystub I have to download a file I can’t just walk out like a PDF in app.
Ever since my employer started using HeartlandPayroll, I’ve only grown more frustrated while trying to view my paychecks, now trying to to get my W-2 or just see my schedule.
I would not recommend this software to any potential employer.
While this may just be a review for the Heartland app, I would also like to mention that everything about this company is terrible. My employer has had countless big mistakes made and has had to put in so much extra time because of it. Neither the website or HeartlandPayroll will pet me log in. I have the right password because the website logged me in once. If I go to reset my password on the website it sends me an email and then when I enter in a new password it tells me that it was filled out incorrectly. I tried with different passwords and nothing worked. On HeartlandPayroll , if I click forget my password it says it sends me an email and it never does. Not in junk or spam or anything. Heartland is a terrible service and shouldn’t even exist. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
HeartlandPayroll glitches all the time to where it won’t let me log in, won’t let me change my password, it just sits on a loading screen and does not change
Heartland's Face ID system failed me severely.
Although you can change the "Face ID Configuration" via the mobile software, it does not actually change the picture assigned to your employee profile, only the utility of actually being able to clock in/out.
I didn't know that.
I was told I could "always change" my picture later, so I was a little careless with the capture when I was initially photographed. Now if someone wants to "switch" shifts with me, they have to look at an out of focus picture of me, neither looking at the camera nor indulging in a soft yet sincere smile. Instead of charm, they see ennui.
Nor does Heartland's website help compensate for the narrow features of this mobile "paradise." I couldn't find anything in profile settings, nor their help center.
Please for the love of god let me change my Face ID photo.
For anybody else whose employer is going to set up Face ID, make sure to take the first photo very seriously; it won't be going away any time soon.
It works for the most part. HeartlandPayroll freezes upon sign in a lot, but I just close it and open and it works. Wish we could see better functionality for admins as well. As a user I can see all the personal info I need.
Easy to use and has everything in one spot. All of the “password” related reviews are user error.
Couldn’t get the link to work from email so I used HeartlandPayroll and it immediately popped up with all my pay stubs and info I needed
