Contact Groups - Text & Email Reviews

The main reason I got ContactGroups was because of the suggestion from Google searches to delete multiple contacts at once. I haven’t tried it out yet. I am writing a review, however, because of the response to poor reviews in ContactGroups Store. I don’t intend on actually using ContactGroups , simply because of the response to negative reviews. People write reviews to give their opinion on the product and their experience using ContactGroups . A number of reviews mentioned all of their contacts being deleted using ContactGroups . This is something that concerns me and can be attributed to human error or technical flaw. However, whoever is responding to the reviews is honestly condescending and makes me not want to use ContactGroups . Purely because of attitude and accusatory statements. I was looking forward to being able to delete multiple contacts at once, but I will be seeking other means to do so. For those that do use ContactGroups , I hope that you do have a positive experience with customer service.

I wished to delete more than one contact at once and since apple does not offer that I googled it and ContactGroups was listed as a good way to do it. I download it and sync my contacts and start selecting the ones I want to delete. When I get to 10 an error message pops up saying I can’t select more than 10 so I go to delete them but my brain has a malfunction and I try to select another contact. The error pops up again and I hit ok and then I hit delete so I can delete the first 10 contacts I selected. Before I know what has happened the screen paused for a second and I see that some contacts I did not select are selected then before I know it the screen updates and ALL of my contacts are gone from ContactGroups and my phone. There was no confirmation or undo. When I went to apple support they told me that ContactGroups had also managed to delete them from my cloud storage and backup as well. Perhaps ContactGroups is good for other purpose but it seriously messed up for me.

You can send group texts or group emails. I have only used it for emails, but will use it for texts in the future. You can select all in the group or only some of the group to send an email or text to. I had a question about selecting all in the group and asked my question late at night. Early the next morning I received a response from ContactGroups developer. Excellent customer service. Btw, if you want to select all in the group, you tap the check mark icon at the top right of the email or text. Very nice!

It’s a good app although it is a bit irritating having to go from my normal contacts to ContactGroups back and fourth. It’s great for making groups but if you already have gc with these people I do not recommend unless you really need to get to a specific person a little faster than normal. I will be using ContactGroups due to sport reasons but I do believe the price range to keep is a bit pricey. I wish ContactGroups did link with the originals contact app though. All through I do know it’s probably not possible but it would be more beneficial for others.

Update
Found a bug- if you have two contacts in your list with the same email address; in my case a husband and wife with a shared email, it won’t send the email when both people are selected.
I still lose contacts periodically. I’ll have to find a new app if this doesn’t improve soon.

I’d love to give this 5 stars for functionality but I keep having to rebuild my contact list. I have exactly one group with 17 names in it. I have no idea why but every few weeks about 1/3 of the names in that list disappear and I have to go re-add them. I usually figure it out when people tell me they didn’t get an email. My only guess is they have made it too easy to delete and it’s dropping names randomly when I try to select people.

I downloaded ContactGroups to help delete contacts more quickly. It accomplishes this faster than Apple ordinarily allows, although not without some aggravation: selection bubbles randomly toggle themselves off, sometimes immediately after being pressed, sometimes seconds later. I find myself having to click the same bubble(s) several times in order to do the job. Again, even with that inconvenience, it’s still faster than clicking contacts one at a time and scrolling for the “delete” button, so ultimately it does the job, just not as well as you’d like.

Went through a few apps to find one that would send out as a group text and let everyone reply to the group no matter if my group text option on my iPhone was on or off. Problems with other apps: they make you change your settings, the messages would go out as individual texts, recipients couldn’t reply to the group, or I had to pay before I could even try an app to see if I liked it. So happy to find this one!

Because of distance learning, I was looking for a way to contact my class’ parents quickly and easily. After typing the addresses into my contacts it was easy to set up groups for my two classes and for the combined groups. I had to buy ContactGroups since only up to 10 recipients is free but for something that works I have no problem with that.

The title says it all. Very grateful for ContactGroups . The developer is super responsive which was refreshing. Also makes you wonder how Apple routinely fails to provide such super basic functions while coming out with a bunch of stuff we don’t need. Thank you for providing this! Saved me many hours!

ContactGroups has a lot of potential, but it's not there yet. It needs the ability to edit contacts in app, rearrange groups, sync between devices, and recognize contacts that are listed using the "company" field rather than "last name." At the moment, the latter results in a lot of contacts that appear only with a number. These are basic functions that need to be addressed. Until then, it's not worth the $10 subscription. I look forward to updates that address theses issues and will update my review accordingly.

I tried using ContactGroups without purchasing it and it kept on selecting the contacts numerous times in a row. It’s supposed to let you delete 10 apps or Contacts rather at a time but kept glitching so I purchased it and it still glitched the first couple times I tried it and finally was able to delete all the contacts I wanted. When it worked it’s great, but is it worth four dollars for your time,? My final answer would be yes they just need to fix the glitches and it will be a great app.

I had a problem swtching from the free limited use to the benefits of the pay options. I contacted the developer and within an hour, he gave me 2-3 easy steps to get it working. ContactGroups is so convenient and I already have set up 4 groups. I highly recommend ContactGroups to anyone. Great tool!

After using ContactGroups for over a year, it just cannot be depended on to get all of the messages out to everyone, or the complete message. imessage is turned off, group message is turned off, and the texts are short. It is not the phone company. When sending through ContactGroups , I was told by US Cellular it by passes them.
Disappointing at best!

After reading a few reviews I came to the conclusion that it was not due to an error on my behalf.

I only selected the contacts I actually wanted to delete and it ended up deleting every single one of my contacts. Before the developer has the audacity to say it must’ve been human error — NOPE — I checked my selections multiple times before clicking “delete” to confirm I had only selected the ones I actually wanted to delete.

Now I have to go through the hassle of restoring via iCloud!!!

This must be the fifth one of these group text apps I’ve downloaded (and paid for) but it is the only one that works. It’s more expensive than the others but you get what you pay for.

ContactGroups is amazing seeing as Apple makes is extremely difficult to create a large contact list…HUGE props to the creators of ContactGroups you did a great job and helped save me A LOT of time….thanks again I appreciate it!!!! Well worth the money!!!!

I would give a five but app still freezes sometimes when trying to select group for group text or email. Also sometimes it doesn’t let you make a text and ContactGroups is waiting for you to add more to the group.

This would be a 5 star app except for this one limitation - you cannot sync Groups between devices even if you use the same Apple account. You can export vcf contacts, but you cannot sync the Groups created on one device with another.

Was looking for individual mass texts, not group. I purchased the lifetime (9.99) and then found out it only does group. That said, the design and functionality of ContactGroups is amazing.

Started trying ContactGroups when my favorite contacts app, Connect, became unusable after IOS update to 14.5. In Groups: - How do you edit a contact? No Edit field inside Contact info. Must edit entry in separate Contacts app. Can’t rearrange order of Group display or Contacts within a Group. Other than those things, ContactGroups does what you would expect.

Very clean and easy to use app. Up and running in no time. I upgraded to the paid option as I often have groups larger than 10, but the free option is a no brainer. Highly recommend.
