Just another outsource to ripoff Americans

TOTAL RIP OFF DO NOT USE!!
I purchased this because I thought it was going to give me a “narrative tour”as I drove around Gettysburg. When I first inquired about it, that is what I asked and that is what I was led to believe.I really could not understand the person that was speaking with me with very well and I don’t think they understood my English I was asked how many people and I answered 3 of us in a car as it turned out it’s basically a GPS why would I pay $8 per person if we are all in my car with “no narrative”as I’m driving around?? $24 for absolutely nothing. I never used the service that was downloaded from the apple store Knowing that I was dealing with customer service obviously that was outside of the US I didn’t request a refund because I knew I would not get it. Very disappointed in the outsourcing of an American site of honor and history also when you call the provided phone number no answers and a recording stated “ no one is available right now. So when you hang up, they call you right back within a minute or two so that your data is used for the call

What a joke

I paid $25 for a driving tour of LA celebrity homes. Out of over 100 audio play points in the journey, less than 20 were for celebrity homes and several instructed me to drive down streets marked as private property.

The directions were awful… Sometimes they’d be provided, sometimes they weren’t. Crucial turns were described as “proceed straight” or ignored altogether. I found myself staring at the map, which would constantly disappear as my phone screen went to sleep since ActionTourGuide doesn’t allow for persistent unlock. Descriptions of homes’ locations were just as dismal. “Behind the hedges” was a frequent descriptor of how to find a home. Every home in Beverly Hills has tall hedges. My Google Maps pointed out more celebrity homes that were ON THE SAME ROADS that this narration completely ignored.

This was a total waste of my time and money and I wish I could get a refund.

Better than nothing

We used ActionTourGuide for several tours. We started with the San Francisco city tour and found it almost useless. Maybe we just didn’t know how to use it correctly but had a terrible time getting to the starting point. (If you listed street addresses it might help so a user could put that into their GPS as destination.) When we found route it was hard to stay on it. Not being familiar with the city, kept missing turns or were in wrong lane. Finally just gave up. A few days later, used PCH tour. It was better because once you’re on Highway 1, you pretty much stay on it. However, the narration starts too late. We were often already passing a point of interest before the guide told us what we had seen. A few days ago we took the La Jolla tour and it was better. I will probably eventually feel I got my money’s worth since we plan to try some of the other tours. All in all, I did feel we learned a little bit from ActionTourGuide .

Some good and some frustrating

We used ActionTourGuide for the sled-drive auto tour at Gettysburg. Once on the tour route ActionTourGuide worked well with starting the videos when points of interest were reached. The audio was clear and informative.

Where it got frustrating is when ActionTourGuide said to click learn more for more information on the point of interest. If you didn’t click learn more before the point of interest video ended, the link disappears with no easy way to get it back. The same is true when trying to advance through several learn more videos. If you don’t hit the link before the current video ends, it goes back to the map with no easy way to access the videos. You could get back to the video for a point of interest and then get to the learn more videos, but that’s not how an app like this should work.

I’m sure the developer would ask why I didn’t contact their support. Once on the tour, the last thing I wanted to do was pull over and call support or chat in ActionTourGuide . I’m not pointing out anything that’s difficult to fix and should have been built in to ActionTourGuide in the first place. How about an index of all the videos with links to go directly to them?

Enjoyed our tour but needs a few tweaks

Purchased a tour of Portland Maine and definitely enjoyed it. Learned quite a bit about the area and were able to stay cool while doing it. There were a few usability issues that would make it even better. First and foremost would be getting the navigation on CarPlay. Very inconvenient to have to navigate from my phone in a rental. Using the phone was also painful as the zoom had my gps location at the very bottom of the screen making it impossible to see what turns were coming up until ActionTourGuide announced them. Went off course twice because the road forked around a turn and I wasn’t prompted to go one way or the other then looked down to see I was off course. Lastly several locations played the narrative well after we passed the building or statue so couldn’t see what was being talked about so just listened. Still got our moneys worth but just a few tweaks would make it great!

Great audio tour

My family (in-laws and my 9 & 12 yo boys) really enjoyed this tour. It allowed my not-so-mobile MIL to see most of the locations from the comfort of the air conditioned car. The boys and I enjoyed jumping out and exploring the beaches and walking to the lighthouse. It was great that ActionTourGuide would play the audio when we got near the site. There were only a couple times that it lagged just a bit. I liked that I was able to broadcast over the car’s speakers so everyone could hear. I will note that it took us a little more than 3.5 hrs to go all the way around the tour, but we did have 3-4 longer stops. As a parent- I definitely recommend using the bathrooms at Stage Fort before you set out. We also wished that we would’ve packed a picnic lunch, but we were grateful we had snacks. Thank you for a great tour.

Made my trip better

I purchased the grand circle package for the Utah/Arizona national parks. The audio is informative and entertaining. I love the way content and turn instructions are linked very precisely to your location. We really enjoyed these tours.

What I think could be better:
(1) I would have liked to have been able to pick a starting point closest to my locations before I started the tours. For example, we arrived at Bryce Canyon at the southwest entrance. The tour directions had us traveling all the way across the park to reach the northeastern Visitor Center before the audio would start. We chose not to do this and were able to get started at the nearest vista point but not before some confusion.
(2) None of the parks we visited had cell service. The workaround provided to force offline mode was effective but inconvenient, provided I remembered to start ActionTourGuide while I still had an internet connection. Otherwise I had login issues. It would be much better to be able to select offline mode with a menu option in ActionTourGuide rather than having to turn cellular data off in the phone’s settings. The latter method disables all other internet apps until you flip cellular data back on. Awkward.

(3) It would be nice to have more photos associated with the tours, say one or more per stop. Not a biggie, but occasionally could be helpful in identifying objects of interest.

Really appreciate this app!

We had planned a drive through Bryce Canyon and some the Grand Staircase. This tour popped up in my Expedia app so I signed up. Once I downloaded ActionTourGuide and read all the instructions I was optimistic but still not 100% sure I understood how it worked. I followed the instructions and - Boom! Once we drove to the “starting place” ActionTourGuide started talking to us! It was so easy to follow along. Gave us really interesting information and highlights and even filled some of the gaps between sights with great Native American chants and music. We didn’t have time to complete the entire tour but what we did get through was great. We would definitely use ActionTourGuide again!

Set it & forget it easy!

Our group of 4 adults loved the Hawaii Volcano NP audio tour! We wanted to see the park efficiently and loved that this tour was smoothly mapped out, had enough audio clips for the longer drives between sights, and made it easy to go “off route” if needed and pick up where we left off. The narrator’s voice reminded us of Rick Dees and the Weekly Top 40 - great nostalgia! First time trying an audio tour and we will definitely buy again! Only feedback- take note of how long an audio clip is and don’t drive too fast between “stories” if spaced closely together or it will cut off for driving directions. You can replay the story that gets cut off but slowing down a bit is really the best vacation advice ☺️☺️☺️

Awesome App - Wonderful Idea!!!

This was perfect. We went along the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Cherokee and back and this was super fun and informative even though it was a rainy day. It gave us things to look at get out and stop and have for another day! We absolutely love that the trip is available for a year as we plan to take our son and grandson and also another couple at different times throughout the year. Very descriptive great pictures and narration. The fact that this is a multiple states, we will definitely purchase more to use on our vacations. You get the luxury of the tour at your own pace at a much cheaper price than some of the other excursions out there. Thank You! LOVE IT & have already shared your App w/others!

Loved this app

I was searching for a app which can guide me through various destinations after using many apps I downloaded ActionTourGuide after my friend recommended me to download it and purchase the tour I purchased their one of the famous tour freedom trail within 5 minutes of the booking of the tour I got my password I also called the support guy to help me with the staring point address land they were very quick with their support they helped me to find the starting point and then ActionTourGuide drive me through the various stops of freedom trail I loved the tours as it is hands free just need to follow ActionTourGuide and enjoy the tour. I will highly recommend this to everyone and they should try this at least while they are travelling and geek to get the information about new place. Value for the money.

Well worth the money, needs a little update

This is worth far more than $15 you pay. It was so interesting, and so easy to use, because ActionTourGuide simply talks to you as you hit the particular points of interest how long the drive from Key Largo to Key West and the return as well.
When you detour, as suggested, we would only suggest that ActionTourGuide give you more notice. Pay careful attention or you might do a few U-turns. Also, know that the geiger key beach detour is not an option any longer. The entire area is basically owned by the United States government, and there are many signs posted about not trespassing.
ActionTourGuide is very easy to download, very simple to utilize, and you really learn a lot. This was not at all what we expected and was so helpful!

A great way to see Cape Anne.

We’ve been visitors to Gloucester 3 times before, but this is by far the best way to get acquainted with the area. We had a lot of fun on this drive! This was so cool… to have GPS track our progress and the narrator talks about what we see at the appropriate times! The tour is scenic and the audio is full of information that’s easy to listen to so we learned a lot as well. Since it was our first time seeing Rockport, there was a lot of background history that was a good introduction while seeing the sights. We would suggest giving clearer instructions about how the tour app actually proceeds. It needs to be stated better that the map will keep you apprised of your driving location as you move along, and that ActionTourGuide keeps track of it. The driver needs to know that the announcer will talk automatically when you reach the next point of interest. Maybe contacting the towns for better signage would help too. This was a great find for us and we’re really tickled that we found ActionTourGuide . I would definitely recommend ActionTourGuide and I’ll use it on future trips where it’s available.

Better than a paid personal tour

My wife and I were planning a trip to Moab Utah and we wanted to do a tour of Arches national park. We were looking at tour companies trying to find something that would work with our schedule and interests. We found a few tours that would work for us but then we found ActionTourGuide. We decided to save some money and get ActionTourGuide , buy the arches tour and do it on our own time. This was the best decision we made on this vacation.
ActionTourGuide is awesome. We felt like we were on a tour with a personal tour guide but we didn’t have to interact with them (or tip them) and we got to do everything at our own pace on our own time (great for introverts and independents) . The tour itself and the information was great. We found ourselves discussing the information we learned during the driving tour while we were hiking the features which was pretty neat. We felt we had a special experience that no one else around us had at an amazing price.
I could not recommend ActionTourGuide enough for those that enjoy tours and learning but don’t want to be part of an actual tour group.

Definitely Get it before you go!

We loved Gettysburg so much we want to go back! We were captivated and hated to be rushed because it was getting dark. Loved the part about how the war affected the real people who owned that property. Wish there was more of that. Makes you imagine being there with them.

Also bought Shenandoah. Caught it about 30% into the ride southbound. I never even thought about the families that were displaced until this tour. I also loved the explanation of the “Blue Ridge”, so interesting! I would have loved to hear how all the rock borders were made too, (the square cut ones that line all the roads and overhangs). I am also curious about the dead line of trees on one of the canyon sides. But I really enjoyed it, so happy we bought both tours on our way from NY to NC.

I didn’t even know these were a thing until a week before we left. Thank you!

Enjoyed the Tour of MV

I read all the reviews before purchasing the Martha’s Vineyard tour and it seemed to me that we just had to know how to navigate ActionTourGuide to have a great experience. So, I bought it and we went on our tour. It was enjoyable. I liked all the narrative and learned things I hadn’t already known (I’ve come to MV quite often, but it’s a first time visit for my family.) I actually drove slower than the speed limit to enjoy the full narrative before the next one started. I loved how it would begin on it’s own when we reached each point. A couple times the end of the narrative got cut off by the new one, so I pulled over and we hit the repeat arrow to ensure we heard the whole thing. Not a big deal. I only wish the tour covered the western part of MV as well. We’ll be driving around there today to try and see the things your tour didn’t cover, like Aquinnah Lighthouse, etc.

Touring the Napa Valley without the bus

ActionTourGuide was immensely helpful in my recent tour of Sonoma and Napa Valley. It gives you the options to modify the trip as you would like. There is much information that you gain about the different wineries and the history of the area.
There is no way that you could cover as much ground on a luxury air conditioned bus. What a treat to have your own car you’re music playing in the background and a narrative going on about various wineries in Sonoma and Napa.
If there are some specific vineyards, it would make sense to call ahead and make some reservations, but most of the vineyards allowed walk-ins.
ActionTourGuide is so well timed that you could easily predict when you will arrive at a particular vineyard that may require a reservation.
I can’t wait to use ActionTourGuide for visits in other locations. It certainly was a treat to use it on this recent Sonoma and Napa Valley trip.

Made Our Entire Trip!

Very rarely do I write reviews for companies, let alone rate them 5-stars, but this service was so phenomenal that I felt it would be a disservice to not share our amazing experience. We had very little knowledge of the national park we were visiting and decided to purchase this $17 tour in addition to a $500, only 3-hr, trail-guided tour. The trail guide for that tour was so impressed with how much we had already done, all thanks to ActionTourGuide. Arguably, we experienced more of the park with the guidance of this service instead of our trail guide. The information provided is relevant, and actually holds your attention. We would have been so lost without the exact directions provided during the experience, and we were so impressed with how accurate the timing was with our location. As two skeptical individuals, we were truly blown away by this service and it has encouraged us to want to plan more national park trips led by this service.

Rick Duff

Before the tour starts and before you pay, and before you decide what to do, these people will do the best they can to take care of you. Ronald helped me with a series of situations that I thought was just great. I first bought a tour for arches, then I saw you can buy a tour with arches bundled with Canyonlands. So I canceled the first one and bought the second one. Then I noticed for $99 I can get 160 Tours for the year. Of course I can’t go on them all, but I have some choices more than I did before. The thing I want to say is that Ronald help me through the cancellations and the rebooking with all the new nuances of booking online. He also assisted me and teaching me how to download so that when I go there, they will be on my phone and I will not have torely on Wi-Fi. So I haven’t gone on a tour yet but I’ve had a great start and I wanted people to know they take care of you right from the very beginning and I’ve read other reviews and it looks the same with other people Trip.

Wonderful!

I’ve done a few of the audio driving tours and think they’re great. They’re easy to use and the audio guides are very engaging. They point out sites of interest along with some interesting facts and stories. And the voice of the narrator is pleasant to listen to. I’ve used these when traveling and need a break from being on my feet but want to still explore and see things. It’s a relaxing and engaging way to see and learn a lot from the comfort of your car. I def recommend. Just be sure to download your tour while on wifi before hitting the road. It works really well offline. Tip: if in an area where cell reception is spotty, I’ve actually found that ActionTourGuide works more stable with data turned off (in airplane mode) with just using your phone’s GPS. Enjoy!
