Troubling Data Collection

This game seems well intentioned at surface level, but taking into account several strange occurrences, I have to say that this is a tool for the developers to collect and sell personal information (such as current mood, physical activity??, age, date, etc). This is currently the only game they’ve published which hammers my point home. The game is basic and similar in concept to the current trends of games; energy to accomplish tasks/destroy obstacles, gain resources to build. Not worth playing. I hate the quiz and mental health aspect. It didn’t give me any results after I completed the first evaluation which leads me to believe that my answers were not examined but collected for advertisement purposes. It has a chart of my physical activity over the last week, but I started playing the game today? The graph is inaccurate, so I assume it’s meant to show you that it might be giving you some kind of results.

TLDR; data theft disguised as mental health care, boring game.

My apologies to the people who worked hard on developing the game, your studio probably doesn’t pay you enough to work on legitimate games.

Parts of the game are great

I’ve been playing this game for a few weeks now and quickly got hooked because it was a lot of fun with good storylines. Then after the most recent update the game went off the rails. Most games require you to watch a fair amount of ads to gain energy or other perks so I expect that. Post update though, you watch the ad all the way through and then it crashes so you rarely get a reward. Since you’re not provided with much energy to start with, it’s completely ridiculous that this has not been fixed and there doesn’t seem to be comments from the developers. The game is pretty much unplayable because after a couple of minutes you run out of energy unless you want to spend an insane amount of real cash. Uh, no thanks, I’m not going to give my money to a game with this many bugs. They could learn a lesson from an excellent game like Love Nikki. When that game has issues preventing players from redeeming prizes due to a coding bug, they just give you what you would have earned on a daily basis until the error is corrected. I’ll change my rating if there is an improvement but since this has been going on for days now, I’m not going to hold my breath. It’s more likely I’ll just forget about the game and look for something similar.

Do Not Spend Any Money On This Game.

Like one of the pervious reviews, I have a hard time moving forward. I really love this game and would’ve given it a 5 star rating. However they send you around in circles. I need resources to upgrade my buildings in the improvement tree. I need to upgrade a building to get iron products, but can’t upgrade the building without the iron products. I need wool to upgrade a building but can’t upgrade because i don’t have a sheep and can’t find where to get one. I need a greenhouse to grow tomatoes but there isn’t one on the improvement tree to build or I can’t find anywhere I can get a greenhouse. Without the tomatoes there are many times I can’t sell and clear the board. I have needed a sheep to make rope and thread. Need rope to fix the pier or upgrade buildings. I need iron products to fix the car so I can go on adventures, but can’t because I can’t get them. Ive even invested at least $30-$50 in hopes of finding one. I have never spent money on a game. There is no Q&A, direction, or guidance as how to accomplish these things on the game app. I know the developers have said to email support. Ive done that, but for some reason I can’t get one to them. It says it is an error. They have made it such a hassle. Don’t get involved with this game or spend money on it unless you want these frustrations and headaches. If these things change and I can get past these barriers I’ll change my review. Until then this is what they get.

Dishonest, greedy publisher, boring game

I’m lowering my rating after several months of playing and enjoying this game. The game claims to care about well-being, yet the devs are constantly gaslighting anyone that complains - just look thru the dev responses in reviews. Complaint about cost=“others do it for free, your problem. Complaint about lack of progression=“game is supposed to be slow, your problem”. They don’t *care* abt their players, it’s just a marketing tactic. The last couple months of updates have been blatant money grabs, while bugs have gone unsolved for many months of reports & complaints. Energy is much harder to get, requiring more and more valuable resources; this, in turn, makes upgrading anything much harder. Use resources to gain every to obtain more resources to gain more energy. It’s so boring and tedious now, with almost no progression. Almost everything demands keys now, but no new ways to gain keys (they can be purchased). The type of ads being shown are repulsive and buggy; devs NEED a new ad vendor. I can’t even play this game when my kids are around anymore because of the violent and inappropriate ads.

Pro and cons

I really like the game overall. Well I feel the Facebook plastic, all the graphics are very real. Items required to build things are real also. I appreciate this. I do think the faces look pretty but I think though the bodies don’t quite look real. I enjoy building except for it’s taking a minute and a half for each energy. I feel this should be cut down to one minute per energy maximum. The emotional part of the game is very good but for me, I would greatly benefit from dailyVersus weekly question. Also I would greatly benefit from being able to graph these out and copy them. I have problems remembering back a week at a time. It would be good to be able to visualize it and even show it to my doctor especially after taking new medicines. I love going to the other farms but I don’t like being stuck on an empty one and not knowing how to go forward. This is the place I have been for at least two weeks.I hope you keep your ads positive. I am tired of ads that slam families thanks Joe break ups. Thank you for giving us a good game that actually helps us.

This was my favorite game

I’ve been playing this game since February and it was a nice escape from every thing going on in the world. I even subscribed to the weekly gem/Ruby subscription.
Then Tuesday 7/11 came and they updated the game, essentially breaking an easy way to get more energy - which is what you need in the game to actually play. There is an order board that would count down to the hour and if you waited till five or so minutes before the top of the hour you could use hourglasses earned in the game to refresh the board until you got orders you wanted to complete and or orders that gave you energy or gems. This was not a cheat, it was just a helpful part of the game that the developers knew about and with their update on 7/11 they took this helpful part of tut game away. They know how upset it made us and made up an excuse for why they did it. That’s when I cancelled my subscription as clearly they want us to spend more real money to buy more hourglasses as it now takes many more hourglasses to refresh the board than it did before the update which reinforces why they did it in the first place. I didn’t mind supporting this game because they seemed like a small reputable company. I didn’t mind clicking on ads whenever they were available and getting my friends to play, but now it’s not the same. I don’t even want to think about what they will break next so don’t bother getting attached to this game like I did as they will just disappoint you with the next update.

The Game

First I love the game, I play all the time. I wanted to rate it 5/5, but there are somethings in the game that become very annoying. I like to play this game all day if possible on days I have the time to. That almost becomes impossible because when you run out of energy, money, gems, diamonds there are WAY too many ads for rewards. I think we should receive more gems and energy and use less when clearing areas. Then when you watch an ad for gems it gives you one gem. We should be able to buy keys in a different way because there aren’t alot of people that play do adding friends to get keys get annoying. Then you guys want us to BUY EVERYTHING. UNFAIR! The store should have more items to purchase then what is given in the game. As far as animals, buying gems, buying energy, buying keys, diamonds etc. There should be more animals, characters, crops etc more things to build on the farm to decorate it. More farm like things to create. When it comes to the order board, and horse racing, we should be given the options to decline an order if we aren’t able to get them due to lack of resources. If we are given a choice to decline we should be given like a 2-5 minute wait time for the next order to become available. There isn’t enough energy to keep exploring fully. That gets frustrating.

Great game.

This is a great game. awesome to pass the time especially when you have down time at work ( i do when we hit a dead period and my officers are all busy doing reports and we don’t have any calls or emergencies coming in). The few cons to this game though is it’s hard to gain and keep energy. The CONSTANT dialogue with the same characters can get seriously annoying. There No break from it. It would be nice to able to complete a quest from a character and them not show immediately with another one. it would also be nice to be able to work on resorting the farm more rather than constantly having to focus on adventures as well. they are fun but also takes away from building your farm. It would be nice to also have a way to earn MORE energy other than just completing a few board orders and opening chests. Also the WHO character what does she honestly bring to the game? in my opinion she’s a nuisance. go away. you do not belong on a farm….. it would also be nice to have a store where we can BUY our machines, animals and fields from too. over all the game is great. just has some flaws too it.

Accept the trade offs

This is a very well thought game and it is very engaging especially with the story lines and all the things you can be doing in the game. But be warned that this is an energy system game. This means that for you to expand your land access in the game you need energy to clear rocks, stones, trees etc.
one thing I am extremely liking is the fact that this game does not have levels. Most games have the level 1,2,3 and so forth. This game is about expanding land and that’s how you judge your growth, which I didn’t previously know I liked.
A strong note of warning, the energy within the game is designed to run out and have find ways to replenish or wait till you get energy restored. The game is set to stop at 50 energy points and you can get in-game rewards or food to increase the 50. The game also has a farming component to it and also order board delivery which don’t need energy points. This is where strategy comes in. When you run out of energy and it will take a while to replenish then you farm and make money until you can explore for a short time and go farm for more time than you can explore. All games have a point where it slows down and each level up requires a longer time to accomplish. It’s that way so that you can play for a long time to come.
All in all I love this game but it’s because I am accepting of drudgery that comes with it. It’s an okay trade off to play it.

Fun and frustrating

I love this game yet at the same time it is very frustrating! Interesting that you’ve set up a game that’s supposed to be good for our emotions to be so frustrating. There should be more ways to make some of the items that are required to keep building, like the bolts for example. They can only be made at the port and the items it takes to complete the process are not items that are easily attained, so you get locked out of moving forward no matter how many coins, gems, or energy you acquire! And then it takes 24 hours before you can make another one—ridiculous if you’re going to require these parts for practically every upgrade or new building project. I’m now locked out of moving forward on two upgrades and a completion of a project on another land/mission. It’s moving from fun to exasperating and I’m at the point of dropping it altogether, which is a shame because it has so many other good things going for it.

Wish there was more water!!

I really like playing this game, even if is different then the way the ads presented it. I wish there was a way to upgrade the well, or maybe the water accumulated while you weren’t playing. Yes I know you give water as a reward in a lot of different ways. You also use water with a lot of products you make. If you open a chest or barrel why not have more the 10 waters in it, maybe 10 in one slot and the rest have 5 instead of 6 in one and 4 slots of one. In the ads it shows a bunch of plowed spots. I have built my to 27. In the ads it shows different plots of at least 8 to 10 and you have 4 or 5 sections like this. Like the first picture on this review page not the second or third as, which are pictures of the game.
I gave the game a 4 star, if these problems were looked at and maybe the administrators show that they pay attention to these reviews, I will change it to a 5 star.

Love this game but…

I’m only writing a review because I genuinely really enjoy this game. It’s a lovely escape from my day that makes me feel mindful of myself at the same time, that may be product of the games’ mental health awareness or just a testament to how relaxing and engaging the game is. I love that there’s easy ways to gain energy, gems and money. I really enjoy all the thoughtful characters with unique personalities and roles in the story line. I love how Jane is so funny and I’m genuinely intrigued to see where it goes. However the more I play this game and the more far along I get, the more energy it costs to make small progress or the harder and more costly it is to obtain or produce materials. I’m not saying it should be super easy, but also if it’s really just meant to be a place to pacify you and provide you with tools to face the world, why make people need to spend way more time in the game to unlock storylines and adventures (the real fun anyways)? Thus robbing them of the time spent being present in the world around them and actually taking sun like the game suggests.

Deleting. Games should be fun, not frustrating.

Don’t waste your time unless you want to waste a lot of real money.
I have been playing this game for several days. I have spent a little money just trying to get enough energy to complete tasks or get the items I need but the amount it requires to clear one rock is ridiculous. There is no way to get ahead without spending real money or waiting days and days to save up energy which is gone in 5 mins or less. I really appreciate not being forced to watch an ad every two mins so I’m giving it ⭐️⭐️ for that reason but I’m not spending any penny more money on a game that still requires watching ads which developers also get paid for.
Also, what’s the deal with the animals? I have been looking for a cow for two days but I can’t get it because I can’t complete the building I need bc I can’t get enough energy! It’s not fun, it’s annoying and even though it is very cute and could potentially be a favorite, the aggravation of not being able to keep any energy or water ruins it. Deleting.

Love it!

I just want you to know that this is a great game. And it looks like it’s going to be one of those games for me that I’ll have for years. When I get involved with a game I usually keep it for as long as I possibly can. But in writing this review there’s nothing bad I have to say about the game I do have to say that I am really disappointed and a lot of the other games that I see for the ads that we have to watch for benefits energy and such. It’s not this game at all, it’s all the other games that represent women as a week battered beaten woman who has to endure domestic violence from her boyfriend, and or cheating husband while she’s pregnant having a baby and then being put in the cold and ultimately ending up freezing and most of the games. Which is an even a true depiction of the games. I discussed me and I don’t like to see the ads like this. There is one game that depicts a woman being hit she swims to a shore and she built a house. Not much better though it’s sad but all in all I love this game thanks for making it.

Not happpy

I have been sending that same review FOR day !!! I have spent a lot of money on Goodville! And I can’t pass adventure!!!! Because I didn’t know I was supposed to make multiple Nacklace blanks … for way way way way like 20 adventures down the road . No wonder why my review won’t pop up you taking my money .

I’ve been playing this game for a year now . I have had no complaints what so ever ! But now I am a bit frustrated I am currently on adventure 51 and I’m stuck because I can’t find a necklace blank. I remember making them many adventures ago. When I hit the question on where to find it. The arrow just goes back to the map. Then doesn’t show me anything else . I can’t get past this level because the item is not there . I have spent money… alot I think on this game way to much money. And now I have been stuck for days. Because I only have a few rebuilds on my the farm . This is insane I can’t pass this level . Because there is no option to do so. . And I am kinda as .

Love the dual purpose

This is not like most of the games you’ve played like this one. There’s a screen where if you take a bunch of simple little questionnaires you get a ton load of free energy. They tell you something about yourself based off their answers. It’s pretty cool actually. They also regenerate so you can do them again.

It’s also a mystery. Have to find my missing father. So if your into true crime and like games where you have to be weary of all your neighbors cause one knows something. One had something to do with your dad going missing. So if you like to search for clues you’ll like this game.

These kind of games don’t usually grab and keep my attention and interest. Usually these big farms make me anxious of how much I have to clean before I can even start making it look like a real farm. I don’t feel that way with this game. No I’m not being paid to give this review.

I never post reviews. I think this is the first review I’ve ever left since Goodville Store opened. The fact that you got me to leave a review you got me to leave positive feedback should tell you everything. All you ever see are the negatives. When we aren’t happy we want to tell the world but when we’re content it doesn’t even cross your mind cause content and happy people don’t feel the need to shout it to the world. So those positive reviews never get posted.

I wanted to leave a human positive feedback not just another bot.

Great game

Love the game. Sadly it doesn’t seem to sync with an existing account because when mine accidentally got deleted I downloaded it again and had to start from the very beginning. Sigh. But I’m taking things I learned from the first time and making better progress this second time through.

Main and really only complaint, is energy production. Yea I know the fire pit makes energy with nuts, berries, mushrooms, etc, and you can get extra energy every 6 hours playing the hen game, or by answering the tests when they’re available. But other than that you get 50 energy every…couple hours? Idk for sure about the exact timing…which is about enough to clear maybe 0-4 things depending on size. It makes for a lot of starting and stopping to wait for energy to refill. 100 would be much better. Or increase the amount you get from making the food on the fire pit or have more energy options available on the order board.

Getting very boring EDIT below

I have to redo the review below and make it a 5 star. Have learned a big thing I didn’t realize in the beginning - every place you go to, make sure you get all the resources you can get there, don’t leave any behind like I did in the beginning, that made me get stuck for a pretty long time. Still think some of the tasks need a bit too much but that does make you work for it. Am totally addicted to this game. Loved the game when I started but am about done with it. It is impossible to move forward without being able to get what you need. Iron for example, been needing it for days now and only get one now and then. Tells me I need to look for it in new places, well I can’t go to a new place until I do what needs done but can’t do that because I don’t have the resources. Again, the concept is great but am about done it is boring to go back for about 10 seconds to see if it will give me a piece of iron and then have to wait again. Not even to mention the larger items you need to do things like the paddock, not a chance to finish that in the next 3 months or so.

awesome sauce

i never write reviews, so for me to be writing a review you gotta know it’s good. There could be better things about Goodville , but all apps need improvement. I like the graphics but in a weird way, i guess. They aren’t my favorite but they are still cool in a way. The noises this game makes when you harvest stuff and tap on things is so satisfying and nice i just absolutely love it. The fact that you have to wait so long for your energy to replenish is extremely annoying though, i wish that could be different or that there could be a better way to obtain it rather than make soup and food and stuff. Cause it’s hard to pick mushrooms when you already have no energy left. I like the animals and the cows and the aspects of the game. I also like how it features mental health, it makes me feel loved and cared for even though it’s just a game. I think it’s awesome and it absolutely deserves the 5 stars i’m giving it. Good job developers! i’m excited to see where this game leads.

Energy and Water

I love this game! I haven’t had any problems. I don’t understand all the complaining about the energy and water! I was recently awarded a new water maker (from playing one of the quests) that makes more than one at a time. As for energy, I just send out tons of orders. I delete the ones that I don’t have resources for and then new ones load. If I complete the whole order board I get lots a good stuff including energy. Also the more you send orders the more you get orders that give energy! Lots of energy! I never get bored! Plant lots of crops. Make lots of supplies ahead of time. Feed your animals and you will have a great time! Also I’ve never spent a dime on any game I play. I can’t afford to because we are on a fixed income. I do have family and friends that do spend the money but I have just as much fun. Thank you this app!
