(April 13, 2022) This an update review, 6 mod later after my first (see below). I have update my phone to iPhone 13 series and I was happy that Hipstamatic worked so fine and that I can now build my own camera set which was my issue on my first review. And then lately, they updated Hipstamatic because they had to add the sepia pack. But…. there’s this glitch again.

1. I open Hipstamatic and start shooting on a camera pack that I’ve used before. Fine. It will let me take a photo.
2. Then I want to take another photo using a different camera pack, so I go to my presets which I’ve built before. Nope, it will not let me choose the preset that I want. I keep on tapping it but nada! it’s just not responsive anymore!!!

I am not sure why I still stick with this app! I’ve been a loyal user since 2010, ever since they first launched the classic. And every time… every time, literally. They just don’t listen to their customers. This would be the last I guess that I am giving them the chance to correct issues.

App will force close! and most annoying is it won’t let me build new camera set. I can only choose which camera look but after that, app will force close! Stupid app! I have been a member since the day they launched but 2-3 yrs from then on, it’s still not fully functioning! Developer, please listen and do some revisions on this issue. It may seem small but it does matter.

Paid for members club and have not seen updates since July. If there’s any add on lenses in the original this app we should have it here as well it should be automatic. Wasn't that the reason for paying the membership. I’ve purchased so much lenses on on original app. I love this app just want to have the updated lenses here for paid club members.

I’ve been using the this app apps for years, and I’m a paid subscriber. This is normally a five-star app but ever since I started using this with the new iPhone 13 Pro Max, it crashes all the time. All…the…time.

I blew my 170 day streak last week because Hipstamatic wouldn’t let me take a picture.

There are probably children here, so I won’t swear, but I was livid. Still upset.

Hipstamatic hasn’t been updated in four months. I’ve had my phone for two months.

This means that this app X hasn’t been updated for the latest iOS or the latest phones. Super annoying. Super crashy.

Please fix this!

You have no idea how upset I am that I lost my huge streak due to a technical issue. It’s demoralizing. 😿

I know there is this idea that we will just take photos with Hipstamatic, but when you let me import a photo I like that I shot with Camera+ or something, and allow me to apply *your* camera presets to the photo, but don't let *me* apply the camera preset that *I* defined myself, I think I must be missing something.

Either remove this edit feature entirely and demand we only take photos with our/your camera presets, or just finish the job and let me import something I composed and exposed in another camera application so I can apply my sweet framed tinto 1:1 preset so I can have some continuity in collections of images I share. 🤷🏻‍♂️

p.s. I'm paying the membership, but I don't think I will for much longer. I'd rather make my own preset in Lr or something like Snapseed. Between Google and Vsco having film simulations that are identifiable, the novelty of using "Kodiak Orca" or something wears off pretty fast.

I cannot spend thousands of dollars revisiting places i’ve already been just to get location stamps but I have plenty of photos with unedited location data, it would be nice if when importing them, it could recognize that for throwbacks, also the internal feed has no search feature, So if I have an interest in seeing photos from places..how on earth do I go about doing that?

I’m obsessed with the passport angle they took, its so cute and amazing and the US has no state stamps which is a real shame. So this is the next best thing except the limitation of now when its not a super popular app. There are definite difficulties building the cameras and trying to find a lens or film that you know the name of, there is no easy way to get to it but to guess the category? WILD.

Just got the new app. Looks pretty good, fairly streamlined. Is there a way to edit the photo without using a predetermined look that Hipstamatic suggests? Also, I am not noticing the ability to take double exposure pics. That was/is my favorite part of the original this app app. That was originally something I purchased, will that feature be available in this new app ( or is it already there and I don’t know where to find it?). Update: I read the help article and look forward to future updates. Currently Hipstamatic is crashing everytime I try and take a pic.

I used the origin this app for years and have bought many lens and films in it🤩 the new app is awesome but two things: 1, no location after shooting the photo in EXIF; 2, when edit photos I cannot choose the camera combination I just created. Hope there’s an update to solve these issues...

I’ve been a this app user since the beginning, and I adore this new version. It really brings back the simplicity and surprise.

My only complaint is the annoying marketing text inserted when sharing photos via Messages. I share a lot of photos via Messages, which means I waste a lot of time selecting and deleting that text every single time. My friends already know I use and love this app, so I have no need to send them cheesy ads.

Only other small quibble is that the Get Help feature has been broken since day 1.

Other than that, this is a top-shelf app and has already won a permanent place on my dock.

I love how simple it is to just point and shoot. I don’t mind the subscription as Hipstamatic has been on my phone for 10years and I’m happy to support the developer and hope it’s still around in another 10.

I’ve been a fan of the classic since day 1 and have bought just about every lens and film combos that has ever come out. I wish this camera would fill my whole screen like the classic does on my IPhone XS Max but it’s not a deal breaker. Hipstamatic has promise and that’s why it was a no brainer to purchase the lifetime membership when I did. I need to spend more time with to understand it better. One thing I noticed is that if I’m looking at images on the classic app it doesn’t recognize what what Len and film combo was used. I also can’t see what was used when I use the random camera on Hipstamatic which is my favorite feature because I could save it to a camera I like. Hopefully it will come in an update soon. #Hipstamatic4life

I’ve been using the regular this app app since they launched many, many years ago. I’ve been an avid user of their app ever since.

Hipstamatic is a great improvement for most use cases. 100% recommend.

Ok, I’m a professional and using Hipstamatic for everyday creative photography has me mothballing my DSLR and mirrorless cameras. It’s fun, quick and seamless for a iPhone. I worked for a major camera company for years and advised engineers to partner or license this for professional and consumer cameras. Apps like this gives me a another reason to use an iPhone over a camera.

I am a longtime this app user. I love Hipstamatic! The lifetime deal is amazing. You get all access to current and future gear. The ability to play with different lens and film styles pre and post shot is is easy and enjoyable. Well worth the investment in my opinion.

I love Hipstamatic almost as much as the original. I wish you could add the ability to rotate the camera in any direction so that you can shoot with the volume buttons on top instead of on the bottom of the phone, similar to the original app.

I’ve been using the this app app for years and have enjoyed it and belong to several hipsta groups. I had some trouble signing up for the lifetime deal on Hipstamatic and contacted them about it. They were really nice and tried to help but seemed like the problem was more on Apple’s end but it ultimately worked out. I’m looking forward to seeing how Hipstamatic evolves.

I’m now a lifetime member. I’ve been using this app original since it first launched and now I use this app X. I’m constantly amazed with the new “looks” that can be achieved with Hipstamatic. Knowing I’ll always have access to the newest “lenses” and “films” they develop makes Hipstamatic well worth it. I’ve even used it to make stop-motion films.

I’ve used the original this app for years, and this is such a fun new take. From the tutorial to customizing cameras on the shelf, the full experience of using Hipstamatic is delightful! I have been running into issues where most films that have frames (as noted in the catalog) don’t show one after processing. This wasn’t the case when I first installed Hipstamatic , and I can’t find a setting, so I’m assuming it’s a bug. I’ll be keeping an eye out for an update!

Hipstamatic is fun to use and inspires me to play around with my camera. Have been with this app and Öggl for years. Whenever I have a question or problem, I get fast and friendly response.

As to Hipstamatic itself, it’s an adjustment from earlier apps because choosing and shooting are a bit more organized. It seemed limiting at first but I find now that it allows me to more easily preview and recall a large number of presets as opposed to earlier this app and Öggl apps.

I love Hipstamatic, the original, bought all the films, and now am a lifetime member of this app X. My all time favorite camera app ever is the classic for when I have a non-moving scene, however this app X is great for when you need to just tap the camera, point, then click. Both apps are equally beautiful in design and simplified for even someone of my experience to use.

I just wish they brought in flash effects into this app X, then I could just have one camera app.

I’ve tried many different photo editors, filter apps, and camera apps on iOS, but nothing compares to this app for the sheer number of options. I like being able to customize the look and play around with different options. Maybe it’s because I’m a tinkerer at heart. Even if you’re not, it’s easy to find creative looks and save them to reuse later. I just keep coming back to try different things.

Their support is also worth mentioning. I had a couple of questions that they quickly answered. (One turned out to be an App Store issue, but they didn’t just brush me off.) It would be nice to get quick, helpful support like this from every developer.

Another #HipstaGimmick. I’m worried that if I spend money on in-app purchases in Hipstamatic, it’ll eventually get pulled from the AppStore and won’t be supported anymore like so many other this app apps I have purchase before—IncrediBooth, Swankolab, Disposable. I’ve been using this app for 9 years or so, purchased every in-app purchase (all the gear) and I have purchased every other app of theirs and most of those in-app purchases, but I’m not gonna fall into this lifetime membership #HipstaScam...seems this app Classic is soon to be forgotten too.

The description says it’ll pull your this app gear purchases into this new app—you don’t get your flashes or cases.

My thoughts...they should’ve just made this app classic the analog experience it used to be and created a dedicated editing app...that I would’ve purchased both.
