Notifications .

I hate the fact that when our phones come off from screen time thing, our notifications are off. Can y’all change that because it is frustrating to keep turning them in and off, on iOS devices. I have to keep deleting apps just to get notifications back on. It doesn’t work in my settings . So if y’all could change that it would make it a lot better .

All or nothing without app control

I work in IT working with managed devices so I know what’s possible, and Norton has implemented nothing in terms of control in NortonFamilyParentalControl. When the time limit expires, all apps are deleted from the device. When the the allow time starts, the apps are rewarded to the Home Screen in alphabetical order and without any folder organization. This was very upsetting to the child. Worse though is that there is no way to whitelist an app to allow it to run after time expires. So apps used for sleep, sleep tracking, glucose monitoring, etc. are totally gone with no way to allow their use.

Please fix this app

Can not allow more time through NortonFamilyParentalControl . Constantly have to go to the computer to allow more time. Gone through numerous iPhone updates and reinstalling NortonFamilyParentalControl which none work. Reporting it is useless as you don’t even get confirmation your report is received. Yet, Norton is always pushing more features they want you to subscribe to when they don’t fix what’s broke

Not easy to use

The functionality of NortonFamilyParentalControl is limited. When you click on the child’s name, it sends you to a screen of the website. Why? I don’t know but I expect to do everything within NortonFamilyParentalControl . But, then when you try to use the website via NortonFamilyParentalControl , it doesn’t work! You can’t scroll down to get to all the options - such as changing the hours allowed on a device. I’ve tried this both on iPhone and iPad.

This one lasted about 5 minutes

Disclaimer: I am searching for an app that apparently doesn’t exist but all these family screen time apps act like they do. I just want to be able to add time to the child’s time allowance whenever I deem it useful or deserved.

So, NortonFamilyParentalControl doesn’t do what I want it to. It might be great for you if you want the things it does do (the same things all these apps do). Unless you have an iPad. NortonFamilyParentalControl works very poorly on IPad. It’s hard to read and click through.

Disastrous app! Confusing!

NortonFamilyParentalControl is awful to use. It is not intuitive at all and the functionality works part of the time. The “lock” feature never works. There are significant delays in receiving an email alert when my child asks for more time so I always have to go to his computer, log into the norton family app, and give him more time. NortonFamilyParentalControl needs a lot more work to make it even mildly useful. The positive reviews were obviously written by Norton employees. I think NortonFamilyParentalControl is currently free which reflects the awful functionality. I would never pay for NortonFamilyParentalControl unless significantly improved.

awful

if i could give this negative stars, i would. NortonFamilyParentalControl has given me so many issues. sometimes it takes my apps even when my parents have it set for them to not be taken, and i just sit there and have to disable my account for norton and whatever. it’s such a pain. if you love your child and don’t want them to hate you don’t buy NortonFamilyParentalControl. it has made me so angry to the point i pull my hair out and throw my phone. it also turns my vpn off and my location and web protector at random times and i get in trouble for it when it wasn’t even me. NortonFamilyParentalControl has quite literally ruined me and my friendships because all of my friends will have fun in their phone and i just have NortonFamilyParentalControl that does absolutely NOTHING for the human race. whoever created this is obviously somebody who hates life and wants to put kids into a serious depression and isolation. i really hope you make a good decision and decide not to buy NortonFamilyParentalControl because it’s a waste of money and the most pointless thing ever. are you going to go to your grave and be like “man, i’m really happy i put restrictions on my teens phone.”? no. you’re not. so don’t buy NortonFamilyParentalControl. for your sake and your child’s sake.

Doesn’t even know why it is doing

Family control is not a simple app. I have a license for 5 devices and Norton can’t keep track of them. Follow the instructions (while I’m no IT guru, I’ve been doing computers and such for 40 years so I have some experience and savvy) and it doesn’t recognize the device. Set up controls for a child and they don’t work, kid is still using the device long after allowed hours are over and long after curfew. Can’t set hours for second kid because the choose number of hours function is not there (but it is for the other kid). Honestly, If it didn’t come as part of the LifeLock pack, it would be long gone.

Location services disables automatically

I appreciate NortonFamilyParentalControl for the ability to set and change house rules, block certain websites, and know where my child's is. I am frustrated by the fact that location services keep turning off somehow on both devices. This never happened before with a different monitoring app. And it happens when no one is using the phone or tablet. A smaller issue is that there is no way to lock devices separately. The only option is to lock all of one child's devices. Now I'm in a situation where the morning of a day my child's phone was stolen, the location services were disabled, so I can't locate the phone. And I can't lock it without also locking my child's tablet which she can also use to communicate.

Somewhat helpful

NortonFamilyParentalControl is okay. You can only control total electronic time though which I find annoying. I want to be able to limit game time (certain apps) but would like for my kids to be able to read (use the Libby app) for a much longer time. You cannot do that on NortonFamilyParentalControl. Googles Family Link allows you to do that and I love it but my older son has aged out that and we need to find something for him. This isn’t working though. I would like for the phone to be able to make a phone call to me no matter how much electronic time has been used rather than locking him out. I do like that it warns out visiting webpages.

Requires improvements

I spent 2-3 hours to install this program on my son’s computer and connected to the my mobile phone app. When my son (14 yo) found out what was going on he needed only 30 seconds to delete it from his computer.
I didn’t find any protection from uninstalling (like for example Google Family has), so I refunded my money back.
On my opinion this program needs improvement.

Works, but high learning curve

Once you get it setup and through the learning curve (about 6 months), it’s ok. It’s a bit too restrictive and sensitive at default ages/settings. Can be difficult to figure out blocking and allowing individual sites. After about a year we are finally figuring it out. I almost want to recommend just using the built in Microsoft Family app, it’s way easier and intuitive. This works, though, and I feel confident with the Norton brand and security.

Okay

Lots of glitches, and doesn’t work consistently on different windows platforms. Also, it doesn’t allow your computer to self update for time change. We moved states, and it took forever to get it to change. Even the help line on norton couldn’t assist me. This product needs more thought put into it for easy changes. I also would like the feature to block add ons to the web browser. Children can add inappropriate games to the browser tab bypassing the monitoring of this program. The limiting of General types of websites is useful. The thing I do like is the phone app which allows quick lock of computer. Overall fairly useful but could be much better given other programs from this company.

Good, missing some features

We have this and Family Link running on our kids phone. Just about dropped this altogether, but family link didn’t lock out running apps and other things. NortonFamilyParentalControl, however, doesn’t show when device is locked (outside log/alerts) and doesn’t provide per-app time limits.

Just ok

I do like the instant lock functions but my kids only have iPads and the content I’d like more control over doesn’t function in that iPad space. Additionally it’s hard to navigate what I’m actually locking in. For example my son has safari on his iPad but my daughter doesn’t and they have the same restrictions.
Just annoying.

Wonderful app!

I think NortonFamilyParentalControl is wonderful! I was able to set up NortonFamilyParentalControl on my child’s phone and mine without much problem. I was able to block everything I needed to, and something’s I never thought of. When my child is somewhere other than home, I’m able to unlock their phone so another adult can make changes if needed, and then I can re-lock their phone.

Awesome tool

This tool for monitoring my children’s online activities on their cell phones has exceeded my expectations. With a little bit of exploring and experimentation I was able to tweak the parental settings to my exact liking at anytime from my device whether we’re together or not giving me one less thing to worry about especially the time they spend streaming videos and content I may deem unsuitable. Thank to the whole Norton team, you guys did a great job with this one!

Fingers always on the pulse

Norton has made our lives much more peaceful with regards to children and their computer time. Homeschooling our grands using the computer and internet opened the door for sneaky fun time. As much as I tried to monitor their activities, they always found a way to sneak in searches unassociated with school during school hours. Norton put tools in my hand that allows me to have complete control of their computer activities. I can block what I want-Allow what I want and when I say it’s ok to do so and am notified when they try to step outside my set boundaries. It frees up my time and gives me peace of mind about their safety. Thank you so much!!!!

Nama’s Peace of mind!

Norton products have been keeping us safe online for many, many years now and even as our internet time has lessened as we get older I now continue to thank Norton once again for keeping my grandchildren safe while visiting and allowing them and us to enjoy what the internet has to offer safely and securely. Norton 360 Deluxe has been a godsend in allowing myself to monitoring my grandchildren across all of our devices (5) and making sure they are safe and that gives me great peace of mind. Norton 360 Deluxe is not free like some apps but what you get is way worth it. So, my advice is if you’re wondering about using Norton... do it! You won’t regret it and by the way any questions or issues you may have their agents via live chat are awesome.

Great app for enforcing rules for the computer with the kids.

NortonFamilyParentalControl is awesome! Especially for the price! Most parental control apps this advanced are $30 or more a month. This is around the same, but you also get Norton 365 and Norton lifelock. Protect your kids, your identity, and your technology all for a cheaper price than one of these types of programs would cost! On this Parental Control App you can have multiple kids and customize each one. You can monitor everything they do on their phone or computer and see their location. You can set bed times, and school times. During those times you can set emergency contacts and websites that can be accessed, like making canvas or an mouse accessible during school hours. You can set how many hours they are allowed total in a day and in a week. So say your kid is allowed 35 hours a week, up to 5 hours a day, but they choose to use there 35 hours in the first 5 days, they won’t be able to go on it the last 2 days without asking your permission. They can send a request through NortonFamilyParentalControl and you can approve or deny it. You can pick categories that are allowed or not allowed, and/or allow certain websites but place a warning on them letting your kids know that it well let you know and show them what they were doing. The customization is incredible once you get the hang of it. It does take some practice to get used to, but once you do, the possibilities are endless!
