A fantastic MMORPG, but with its fair share of faults

Full disclosure, I’ve played this game since launch and spent a good deal of money into it. RoM is a very fun MMORPG that offers a ton of freedom. If you go into it with no expectations you will be pleasantly surprised and find that there’s no shortage of things to do or ways to improve yourself. The damage ceiling is almost non existent, which for PvM is a good thing. What seemed impossible will become something you can literally do with your eyes closed.

The positives of the game really lie in a fun and active community, weekly events, amazingly large scale guild vs guild content, and lots of unique ways to play the game. Grinding only requires you to leave the device running, you can auto farm or manually kill harder enemies. Both of which can be optimized for greater return depending on your dedication.

The negatives mostly are due to bad localization and bad transparency between dev and player. Some quests ready perfectly while other quests look like they went through google translate 5 times. Despite this, each episode has improved quality of life and bug fixes, but don’t expect thing to change quickly between those. The game also has a very steep and long power curve. Those starting out will need to have time and patience to enjoy later content.

I love this game but developers ignore complaints

This game could be amazing. I love it and don’t get me wrong, I’m on it all the time lol. BUT one huge issue is the developers don’t fix issues with the game since they make massive amounts of money off of the monthly gacha items that people gamble on. Why would they be eager to fix something when they’re making enough of the players? I’m not a huge spender, but I do put money into the game. If the probability of getting a costume was high after spending a little over $100 I’d probably do it. But just the small chance I’m not guaranteed something like that after spending that much, I will pass. Also, the English translation in this game is so sloppy. People make memes to make fun of how awful it is. You can’t even understand what the heck it’s supposed to say sometimes.

Also, make sure you have a new smartphone, because as new episodes are released older phones/tablets/computers can’t handle it. They don’t even have to be that old. A couple years old and the processor can’t take it, causing game to crash all the time.

But overall I love the game. There’s endless things to do and I found great friends that I talk to outside of the game constantly. I just wish the devs actually cared about the game’s performance and got a better translator (seriously).

I am not being paid, nor am I a robot

As you would know if you read the title, I’m a random person who felt like writing a review. You may not think this is truly a consumer opinion, but trust me, it is.
THIS GAME IS AMAZING.
I’ve played tons of rpgs, but this game feels special because of the freedom and variety of choices and paths to power available. Most games force you to play a certain way if you want to get stronger. I absolutely HATE that. But this game, offers subclasses, meaningful side quests, and especially a variety of skills. Even among classes, there are different paths to power. For example, I love playing as a ranger, now, I can set my skill points to focus on setting traps along the monsters path to wear it down, but I could also use a falcon and become a mana dependent damage dealer. I also love how the games statistics for weapons and other accessories are organized. This game has a very intricate story, making it highly enjoyable. Some people like skipping stuff to save time, normally I do the same, but for this game, it would be a pity to do so.

Nobody plays this

Trying to do things you need a group for but can’t complete is the worst pat of trying to progress in this game. Most players seem to be in Brazil and the language barrier is thick. Every guild is filled with non immunizations or cooperating players making matchmaking a huge joke. Speaking o huge jokes the prices in this game are outrageous. As a person who spends money quite foolishly on these types of games, I would neve spend an actual dollar on this game besides the ew bucks I’ve already invested because you get absolutely nothing of value. The gacha rates are atrocious while advertising lackluster top prizes you’ll never get one that’s listed, instead you’ll summon and get something that’s not on the loot list and doesn’t help you in any faction of the game and probably won’t even look good on you as must cosmetics in this game are super ugly. Upgrading your gear is the worst kind of grind because the in game currency is meaningless as everything osts more than you’ll make in a week to do a few minor upgrades that after gotten, you don’t see much of an increase of damage or survivability. I’m still as potent as I was at level 20 as I am now at 123. This game started bad and doesn’t look too promising I would advise to find a better game or regret not listening to this warning

What more could I want?

A re-imagined version of Ragnarok Online that fills the childhood void in my heart. Everything is better and more streamline with the same difficulty and adventure as the first one.

The bad? They successfully killed the botting and zeny-sellers from the original game by adding in their own. They have an installed botting system that lets you do other things while your game is running. I personally don’t like it but others love it. They let you buy straight up zeny from their cash shop. It’s priced so high that I have not seen it abused much. The last bad issue is that they keep adding 1% damage account bonuses to their event items. If they keep it up, eventually we will have obscenely powerful veterans with +100% damage to all their characters. That will definitely be an issue in the future.

These types of things should not scare you from playing the game, however. It is a blast to level up and enjoy for a very long time.

What the game needs

1.) Partying system: Allow to add to party regardless of channel and be able to click on the group picture to teleport to them. Going to Izlude is tedious just to change channels.

2.)Resolution is only at 720p for phones? My iPad is at 2k resolution which doesn’t make sense compared to my iPhone X that has a better screen. Needs to be revamped.

3.)Increase the font because they are too small and hurts the eyes. Put an option to increase the size of the text.

4.)next update should add more 2nd classes, but I know it barely came out.

5.)More customizations for character when creating. Deletion time 5 hours? That’s even tedious than the channel change thing.

6.) Please! Increase the movement speed. It’s slow and takes a while to get to places. Please add an option for joystick or tap only.

7.) The most important of all of them is lag issues.
Improvement to stability is definitely needed.

8.) Please ban cheaters permanently, and get rid of bots. 7 days is like saying time-out and I hope you learn your lesson kind of message that they will not listen too.

Review: I played RO before it became well known. Basically, when it came out. It’s similar to the game and that’s what I love about it. No auto-attack’s nonsense most mobile games do. You’re in control. I recommend this game to anyone. But what I suggested, please consider. A long time fan always.

Nostalgia-filled

Loved the original Ragnarok Online game so it was nice to see Gravity make a mobile version of my favorite game! This adaptation is pretty good. From the music, to the characters, to the maps, you can tell they really tried to make it like RO but with a twist. The gameplay and NPCs are bit different. The big change is probably the 3Dfied graphics and navigation can be a bit tricky, so it is something to get used to. Traveling can take a while, but good thing you can just enlarge the map, pinpoint to an area, and your character will auto-travel to the location. That auto-travel and auto-attack are a great feature to have specially when you don't have much time to have your hands on your phone at all times. After a few hours of playing, I'm hooked! I hope the game continues to grow and improve!

Gambling for kids and adults

This game is fun and the community kept me engaged for a long time, but I can’t keep feeding the developers all of my money for a chance at slightly better gear. All of the in-game character growth mechanics are carefully crafted to get you to a point (free-to-play) and then force you to gamble your real money or in-game currency in order to progress. All the top players have invested large sums of money and all the mechanics of the game are built to milk you of your money by getting you first to invest tons of time into the game and then, once you hit the peak of what grinding can get you, make you feel like the money you spend is warranted based on the time you have already invested.

This game will cost you thousands of dollars or thousands of hours if you want to enjoy full end-game content. If you have that kind of money or time, then I would recommend this game.

Also, devs are non-existent. I have never received a response from them and I am pretty sure they just don’t care about the community.

Too Bad, Really

I was looking forward to something similar to the old school grind fest that was IRO, where every level was an accomplishment and partying up was the only real way to stand a chance against in game bosses. Ragnarok M is different and refreshing at the beginning. The game is still an MMORPG and many of the in game items are similar to the original or third party servers of old. Class availability and skill structures have been tinkered with to seemingly try to balance out gameplay, albeit unsuccessfully.

Where it falls short is that it has, as you may have already seen, in game purchases.

Unfortunately, pretty soon after starting play and questing through the first few areas it becomes apparent every boss monster, from the lowly Smokie to the mighty Baphomet, is being farmed by the same dozen or so “pay to win” players. The type of people who have more money than brains. Those who feel they must use said money to buy their way to the pinnacle of the game so they can feel Godly next to players foolish enough to just play a “free” game for fun.

China App

This game is done. They encourage emulators for PC players which can run muiltiple accounts on one computer. What is a mobile player to do vs someone who can run a full party and station their characters all over the map when MVP spawn, then one shot with all those buff from the other jobs. They can run full party Oracle by themselves for MVP cards. Even worst, they are farming R. MVP in these groups for cards; something a solo player can never achieve. These player can harass you by befriending you with a alt character and you can’t do a thing because there is no GM / customer support. PVPing someone on mobile while they use a key board and mouse and a full party following them around is unfair. PC players can clear all content so fast because this is just a mobile game, thus making muiltiple accounts and funnel the zenny to their main account via ghost trade. Ghost trade is when they make the alt buy their expensive equipment, at the same time the main gets rich and their alts gets stronger, while mobile players have to spend to catch up.

I look forward to good times.

First review since official launched. I been looking forward to this. I registered, I got a text from this company about a week ago, last week’s Wednesday, & now the official launch.

I hope this games lives up to expectations.

To the host company, learn from other games & company’s mistakes, & do the things that make all users, free to play & play to win, happy. Do not be disloyal to anyone, especially if they are either honest, sincere, or blunt, even all 3, with your staff. If a customer gives your staff a heads up, head the warning & take it seriously. Do not wait for public shaming in order to fix a problem, with the game or the users. If you wait for fb posts about people harassing or threatening or spamming or cheating, you are to late. Listen to users & reach out often. If you know of a bug, a a different version from the global version has a fix, install the fix fast. Do not wait till later on a schedule to install the fix.

If you give the users what they came to this game for, you will have loyal users. If you “toy with”, “jerk ya around”, or “insult our intelligence”, you will lose customers.

I hope you are consistent, & loyal, to those that play your games.

Good luck in 2019 year. I hope this game is around for several years.

Not worth a 1 Star

To the people bashing on the game and giving it poor reviews... it’s literally been out for like a day, there’s no way you can label this pay to win or a money grab in that amount of time, y’all are just salting looking to rant for no reason.

This game has a TON of content, players could literally spend all day playing and still have not done everything to do before the daily reset. If you’re looking for an in depth, visually stunning game that you don’t want to get bored with then this is your game. I can see playing it for a long long time...

One thing is that the learning curve can seem sharp at first, but that’s because there really is so much to the game. Just check out some videos if you’re stuck (there’s plenty out there) and you’ll be moving right along...

Cute and very fun although..

As you can tell by the title the game is well developed and the graphics are extremely good and cute too but I have one major problem with the game.

Every time Im playing it I’m only able to play for like about 4 minutes and then it kicks me out the game. I have been patient about it after like the 15th (maybe even more) times it happened thinking it might just be temporary but it doesn’t seem to stop and I don’t know if I’ll keep at it (playing the game) if the game keeps on taking me out RagnarokM . Maybe it’s my storage but I doubt it cause I have a lot of room left so I just think it’s a bug so I’d like to have it fixed because I really don’t want to uninstall the game it’s a really great game it’s keeps you going, it’s pretty addictive but I’m not sure I can keep being kicked out the game. PLEASE FIX THE BUG PLEASEEEEE. Ahem, okay thank you for reading. please fix it..

Fun

Now this is truly a ‘mobile’ mmorpg that I have been looking for. It has a good gameplay, an open world map, and social interaction. If you are not careful you can play all day all night. And I like the auto-battle system. It helps me to keep playing while I can do other activities. But even without auto system, since the era of Ragnarok PC, some people who played these games created a bot or a hack which made their characters automatically killing monsters 24/7. The auto-battle system actually saves the troubles. The developers knew people would grind all day for this game and so each character is given a stamina limit. This, I think to prevent people burning their devices as well. So far, I really enjoy this games! *I wish there is a simple instruction at the beginning of the games so people who just start playing are not confused.

The best MMORPG with some serious throwbacks

I played Ragnarok on my PC when it first came out. I was in high school at the time. While I spent a bunch of time Bank then, everything was so manual my assassin made it to lvl 80.

Ragnarok M has the same characters, maps and playing style but with modern enhancements that make it easier to finish quests, better options for spending money, a great exchange system to buy/sell items, and auto attack! You will not regret playing this.

A note to those complaining about the game not allowing free to play characters to be as strong or good as those that pay. You do realize that the only reason Ragnarok M is free to play is because people like me spend real money on it, right? Those that pay are the ones that are actually going the salaries of the developers that build this product. As a reward, the least I would expect is that my player would have an advantage over F2P. And even if you are a complete F2P player, you can get a really great character so I'm not sure why so many complain about this issue.

Anyway, highly recommended as it is really fun. Whether you pay or not.

Addicting but only at first

For the first few weeks, I loved this game. But I realize after 5 months that my love is carried over from the original. The game developers for this RO version also did a game called The Lost Titans which I helped develop years ago, and they kept the same pointless quests in this game that ultimately killed my love for it. I wonder if my love for this was nostalgia for the music and sound effects. They took out the ability for players to sell from their own shops, and I think that economy deletion took a lot of love out from the game too, not being able to interact w players the same way. The maps were simplified which is understandable for a mobile game but I do miss a lot of the original. I write this now as I am about to uninstall the game. Once I hit level 85, the game lost meaning for me.

Love it! But... having issues that’s really upsetting.

So, after getting this game I was playing nonstop and even got pretty into the game. Making an archer and progressing all the way to Sniper. But! I’ve hit a point where there’s an issue with my character and after all I’ve put into the game I really don’t want to have to delete the character. Now when I try to auto any monster (clicking a set mob or just all in the area) I will hit them once and then suddenly not attack anymore. This is causing issues with me playing the overall game. Normally, I would give this five stars, but not knowing what to do, or even how to farm to progress at this point is very upsetting. I have nothing set like stay alert or protect party. Nothing special is done. I have auto attack in the auto skill sets but I’m not using any skills accept the one in the beginning. Please help.

ignore the mobile players or liars

I see the 1 star review, besides the fellow that lost his account.. that’s understandable.. but SO GLAD Ragnarok is here, I’ve been a long time PC player witch is why I can’t complain about much at all, the only thing me and my family would like is if the trade function is implemented, other than that.. everything is great, fun and amazing and I can’t wait for the FUTURE UPDATES!!! - trisdelorean (twitch streamer)

P.S - I SAW A REVIEW ABOUT CHEATING AND HACK?!! REALLY?!!, This game takes time and consistent grinding, questing, etc.. just because you’re “behind” never lie on a great company who’s never had those issues with their other projects... that’s ignorant

update 2.0 : NOWS THE BEST TIME TO JUMP IN, DO IT NOWWWWWW!

Bots/3rd party ruin what could be a fun game

It’s a shame the unregulation of 3rd party users is running rampant in this game. It makes progress slow for those of us just wanting to enjoy the game for what it really should be, it’s not like i didn’t pay for a premium and some upgrades here and there- however you run into some restrictions when the game requires you to have items dropped by mvps or mini - quests that are impossible with bots farming them. It’s obvious as well... simply look at the guild names.. whales.... blackmarkets... and see the list of the same people in a million places at once taken down every boss for weeks. It’s pretty disappointing, they would have a loyal customer in me however they seem to place more importance in not kicking out the people that are ruining this game. If you want a fun game- stay away, you can only get so far before it becomes cancerous and impossible to progress. I’m so bummed- it really had so much potential.

Ragnarok Mobile > PC Ragnarok

There’s so much to do in this game it’s not even funny. If you’ve ever played the PC version and loved it, this is an automatic win. Trans Class, 3rd job (coming soon), multiclass ability, pets that actually do things for you, poring battle (which was surprisingly fun), WoE (coming soon), cooking, crafting items, all the headgears from the PC version and more, slight character aesthetic customization, major character play style customization... everything in the PC version is here and more. They did a really good job with this game. I don’t even enjoy phone games so much, but this is something special. Oh, and the moderators/GMs actually interact with the players and work on player issues. A1 just for that.

Update broke the game

First I’d like to point out your own website promotes using emulators and I do as well as my mobile devices. However on emulator you always had to go into resolution and select native. Well there’s no longer a resolution option so you are stuck with this muddy looking awful resolution. Also some sort of resolution problem on iOS as with a ranger at max distance. You can no longer see your damage until the mob gets closer. I think it’s time to take a break from trying to add more BCC items to squeeze players for as much as you can, and actually fix things. The game has always run awful on emulators. No matter what pc specs you have. Try doing the UFO cat event on an emulator. You drop to like a whole whooping 8FPS. There’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to play this on max settings without all that. A 2080ti is far more than capable of mobile games. This is poor development. And lastly, for the love of god, please do something about all your whales that since they’ve spent money you let them use add ons with no punishment. The same people on each channel always magically appear on MVPs and kill them. I get that they whale and that makes your pockets fat, but you are alienating all your other players. Get your game together, or sell it to someone who can fix it.
