The demo app worked fine, but once I purchased and downloaded the full guide and went to Chichen Itza (where I didn't have data connection) it just kept crashing. So, basically, it’s completely unusable and a waste of money.

I tried to use ChichenItza in Chichen Itza, Mexico. I downloaded whatever I could to avoid using data as the reception is awful in Chichen Itza.

For some weird reason ChichenItza had to download stuff all the time and froze like crazy. It goes without saying it was useless. We’d way better hiring a guide

The guides are ok, but app isn’t well thought. It abruptly humos between segments as you move around the sites which is really annoying especially when you intentionally start play one segment but still moving around it may jump to another. There rewind / scroll of audio fragments also broken :/ in general whole navigation UI and experience is so-so.

Lastly guides then selves are rather short and if get few guides like I did they share same the same chapters which is kind of lame.

ChichenItza doesn’t recognize when you’ve already passed through a landmark, so it will switch to a segment you’ve already heard mid listening fresh content just because you are heading back. Please fix!

The amount of detail for each area we visited was very good. The auto start function based on GPS location was also very good. The only problem we had was ChichenItza crashed multiple times (app froze or just closed) on my iPhone and my iPad. Cellular was off, tour was downloaded locally to each device before leaving the hotel. Apple devices are relatively new (iPhone 11 and iPad Pro 2019) with 256GB memory each. iOS for each device was up to date. No other apps were open. Closing ChichenItza and then restarting it fixed the problem for a little while, but then it crashed again. Probably crashed 5-6 times over our 3 hour visit.

Great app for the person that wants to go on their own pace. A lot of good descriptions and stories to hear. I really enjoyed it!!!
There where a couple of new sections at the site that where opened up and ChichenItza did not cover that but that is understandable.
I would recommend ChichenItza overall.

It couldn’t be better if you really want to know the whole history of these ruins. It guides you step by step and it’s very comprehensive. I particularly like the “learn more” feature. You can go as deep as you want. I strongly recommend it. For $6.99 it is almost free!

Great if you’re on a budget or just want to wander at your own pace. Almost pointless going to the ruins without some guide as you don’t get a booklet with your ticket to guide you round/provide any info. ChichenItza provides a good level of history and of the ruins. Easy to use and really interesting. Certainly worth the money.

Nice app, it works well with the GPS and pretty informative without being too long. Nice to have extra images and information if needed! Would recommend !

My boyfriend and I got ChichenItza to run away from being ripped off by tour guides. Loved it! It explained everything we needed to know and the gps route showed in the map is the best route to truly appreciate chichen itza! Would you rather spend 7 dols or 50 + tip in a guy who won’t even go through the whole archeological site with you? I saw other couples also using ChichenItza there and guides were openly criticizing and mocking us, which proved our point: they are not worth it.

Great App. The Narrative timing and content was amazing and powerful. We downloaded the tours before we went to the Ruins and it worked Offline without any Data. It made our trip perfect. Also the kids loved it.

Very detailed guide and worked offline! Saved us from spending $50USD on a guide and we got to go at our own pace. Downloaded within minutes!

ChichenItza was super helpful! The GPS guidance worked perfectly. It allowed us to travel at our own pace.

After hearing some horror stories, I was very nervous about the local guides. Apparently they often just tell you bogus stories!

I got ChichenItza in hopes of getting detailed information that was trustworthy and boy did it deliver!

The main stops were good but generic - the extra section at the bottom was the real treasure trove. I also appreciated the map and directions. It’s surprisingly easy to get yourself turned around there.

My son was asking how Mayan’s played the ball game without touching the ball. I was amazed that ChichenItza showed it clearly using an animation screen. Same thing about the Equinox days. We did not go there on the equinox days. However, ChichenItza showed how the snake comes down on the equinox days. Loved ChichenItza because of all these animations that guide could not show. Recommend buying it. (Please charge your phone fully before you start.)

Great app! My husband and I shared a set of wireless headphones and enjoyed learning about Chichen Itza at our own pace.

Great information on the history of the area and specifically Chichén Itzá.
The numbered map was very helpful and allowed us to see things that were not in the heavily trafficked areas.
