Listen to your player base.

There are numerous complaints about your game being unbalanced and difficult. We can see how much work you guys put into this compared to soul knight because this is an actual effort to create a rogue like for mobile. My only problems are that 1.) some items just don’t work or aren’t effective at all. 2). the drink mechanic is useless because it’s only for that one run and also for the fact that they are bought with the same currency used for more important upgrades. If the mobs didn’t stun-lock you or the bosses weren’t stupidly difficult without a certain stun item then this game would be fun. Don’t forget that this is a mobile game so making it too difficult would deter people from playing it. Also I’ve had the game for around 4 months now and I only have 2 characters. Some of us just don’t want to put money into a video game. Reward those who do with exclusive items instead of preventing the majority of your players from using the characters you worked so hard to create. If you guys aren’t working on this game anymore then I might as well uninstall it if nothing is going to get fixed.

Great game with minor issues.

This game has a lot of good things going for it. The art style (subjective take, I know) is awesome. I’m a sucker for pixel graphics. The combat is smooth and responsive. A nice selection of characters with different play styles between them. The core gameplay loop simple so you can very easily pick the game up whenever and play a round before putting it down whenever. It has multiplayer which has worked fairly well in my few rounds I’ve played online. The WORST part (and reason it isn’t 5 stars) is the unlocking process for characters is pretty awful. You unlock them through fragments and can get fragments (like 2 fragments) daily through daily tasks. But you can only claim fragments for the 3 current characters in rotation, and each character needs 18 fragments to unlock (some are cheaper but the majority are 18) Also for those who care the game does have micro-transactions, but it has some of the best pricing I’ve ever seen from a mobile game. I think the most expensive items (which are skins) cost like $4 each. (and are optional)

Another minor complaint is battlefield mode. Overall it’s fun killing enemies but occasionally you end up towards the end of the wave and it starts just spawning only 4 or 5 enemies at a time and it slows down the chaos too much and ruins the mode for me. If there’s only 10 of a specific enemy left don’t just spawn 3 of him just give all 10 when there’s nothing left to spawn.

First Impressions Upon Completing a Few Games

I downloaded this game on my secondary Apple ID (this one that I’m writing this review with). The game is not bad although there are a few things that I would like to see added to the game. As the game has only been released for a while now I’m not sure if it’s early enough for critique but I personally think that it would be better if the controls were easier to use and data transfers were possible (I’m planning on transferring data from this Apple ID to my primary Apple ID). Also there’s the issue with multiplayer which I hope is added in the future. I have not completed the game yet so I’m not completely sure if you need to complete the game before multiplayer is unlocked but since Soul Knight doesn’t need the game to be completed for multiplayer to unlock I assume that should be the case with this game as well. Overall though, this game has a lot of potential considering it is still new and in the making so I hope it gets better soon.

Amazing game on the first day but

I was surprised that it got released early and I had a lot of fun, I beat the final boss many times on the first day and had a lot of motivation to keep on playing. But on the second day when I got on the game and found out from they opened up the store for more stuff to purchase I was disappointed, I understand with the weapon tickets and the revive tickets that cost really money but also most of the characters and the last ability style are all needed to be paid with real money as well, knowing that I kinda lost a bit of my motivations on playing the game because no matter how much I play and grind I will never be able to play this character or have the last ability style with my fav character unless I open up my wallet, I think it would be nice to make some of them characters purchasable with a great number of soul stones other than the swords guy, and ability styles too. This game is kinda like 30% free to play and the rest need to be unlocked with dlcs.

Overall Great Game

In my opinion this game is step up from soul knight and I thoroughly enjoy the gameplay loop and the skill and item customization. Currently there are only two problems I have with the game. The first being the fact that only two characters cost in game currency while the rest cost real money and of those characters, you can only buy a third of their skills with in game currency. The second complaint I have is that the bosses / mini bosses scale exponentially in difficulty. The 1st and 2nd bosses are usually manageable but it’s still very likely you’ll lose to the second boss if you have bad items and if your build isn’t op by the third you stand zero chance of winning. Despite that, the real problem is with the mini bosses that you can encounter in secret rooms. Regardless of what stage your on they usually have insane damage (like 3 shot potential) and if you run into them at later stages they will just dodge endlessly until they absolutely annihilate you with two hits. Overall though, I really love this game and hope that f2p players will be able to get more characters in the future. Keep up the good work.

I like this game. And I have an idea

I think this game is really fun I’ve been playing it every day and it’s always enjoyable the combat system is simple and complex, having a low skill floor but high skill ceiling that I still haven’t reached and is just all around enjoyable. But I did have an idea for unlocking characters at least for one of them. I think the devs should make it so that you can unlock new characters by completing a hard achievement and you then get a character. You don’t need remove the store but it would be kinda cool. I did have an idea for the achievement for the Peddler. All you gotta do is beat the Peddler on the first floor of a run without items or weapons and get through at least two more levels to unlock the Peddler. I just think it’s a cool idea and makes things easier for people who don’t want to or can’t spend money on the game.

Exceptional ethic but balance issues

Originally I had bought the skills for Ginzo because I do enjoy games that come from Chillyroom and wanted to show my support. I am very happy to see them make these skills grind able. However I do wish soul stones had more uses outside of buying drinks and ashura points and weapon enhancing. Maybe being a method to purchase a ticket for events like the Origin Quest from Soul Knight. Perhaps also allow vertical dodging? It is very fast paced navigating the rooms when going horizontal but moving vertically kills dodging momentum.

Edit: Also please balance the hidden room boss fight with the archer. Having vertical dodging would be great for this boss fight as not having followers leaves any character save Oli susceptible to easy kills and I don’t wanna save scum an entire floor just because I hate running into one mini boss.
Speaking off, the old man in stage 3 bamboo area is BS you get insta punished with no tells for maintains aggression in a fight with an undodgeable root. Chillyroom please balance this because as it is, if you aren’t running a build that has followers that can tank your aggro this old man in groups of 2 or more is 90% of the reason runs die. Save that and the black clad Ibis minions, when in groups of 2 or more will perma lock you without followers

Awesome development team

I’m not going to lie here, I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS A FREE TO PLAY GAME THAT IS HOW UNBELIEVABLY GOOD IT IS......... I played soul Knight for about 6 months now and I fell in love with it instantly. I went into it honestly looking at it as another free game but I was impressed with the mechanics, the large pool of weapons and the synergenistic properties that some of the runs provide brought a breeze for some runs and a tough, on the edge of your seat experience. Now let me get to THIS GAME.

I must have gotten lucky as all heck my very first run because I got to the third boss and then died two times, I’ve played about 5 runs so far.... 5 RUNS and I am beyond impressed with this game I love the art style, I feel every enemy was thought out. You cannot spam this game you will be killed quick by the barrage of arrows, swords, magic, and poison acid pools, the bosses feel balanced and DEMAND YOU to pay attention and be quick. I am absolutely impressed with this game and the studios games in general and easily comprehensible to play and that’s what makes me come back after a frustrating loss.

One of the best Free games I have ever played

As someone who played Soul Knight and enjoyed it greatly, I looked forward to playing Otherworld Legends when it was announced. It’s safe to say that you all absolutely delivered and made the game worth the wait.

Otherworld Legends takes what made Soul Knight fun and improves it. Better designs for characters and monsters, better enemy AI (which, when in possession of certain items, makes them better allies), more variety when it comes to item attributes, and more abilities for each character, which allows for different play styles. The most notable improvement is that the characters feel much more unique due to their differing stats. Each character not only has different max health and armor, but also varying attack speeds, movement speeds, critical rates, and damage counts.

The best part of the game is that it is very F2P friendly. The only reason I have ever spent money on this game was because 3 of the 5 characters could only be unlocked by purchasing them with real money and even then, each of them were only a few bucks. Everything else you need in the game you can earn by playing it. In fact, Chillyroom made it so F2P friendly, that in an update, they made the additional abilities that used to be only purchasable with real money available to get with in-game currency.

I highly recommend this game. It’s lots of fun and makes for a great time killer. I look forward to seeing what else will be added to the game next.

Great Rogue-like game

This game very clearly reminds me of Soul Knight from the different worlds with unique bosses to a varied cast of characters and items. The game consists of 5 characters, with 3 of them being in app purchases and the other 2 acquired with in-game currency and being available from the beginning. They have a variety of attacks and skills with each being unique in their abilities; most of them dodge to prevent damage and use melee attacks to damage enemies.

It sets itself apart from Soul Knight by being a more brutal and melee focused game. Enemies are difficult to defeat in swarms and bosses require patience and ferocity to survive.

For anyone who is playing the game, most items are in hidden rooms though some have bosses. There is a hidden room on every level, if you check along all of the walls while in the room then you will find them. Just be sure to look everywhere in the lobby and in the levels and you’ll find stuff to help you get through it.

To the developers, some of the bosses, especially the onmyoji secret boss. It is almost impossible to catch up to her when she leaps across the room even when I’m not slowed yūrei. Then once I get there she leaps back to the other side of the room just to use me as a pincushion for arrows. If you could also add vertical dodges that would be amazing, there are just some attacks you can’t dodge backwards. Otherwise, you have made an excellent game and I can’t wait to see what you will add in the future.

The Greatest Mobile Dungeon Crawler I’ve Played (No Joke)

I’ve never written a review for a mobile game before, but this game made me do it. This game doesn’t have a wide range of characters, but each of them has an overflowing level of depth and creative customization. Most of them cost money to play as, but we have access to three free characters right now. I’ll leave it at that for explaining characters. The dungeons are what we’re here for. Each dungeon has a shop, boss, and possibly a secret room hidden somewhere. Within the shops, you can buy and upgrade weapons to get specific skills like a poison ailment effect or elemental fairies that follow you around (plus much more). When you enter the dungeon, you are provided with about 5 item slots plus an inventory. While exploring, you’ll encounter chests that contain currency and items to apply into your slots. When I find the right items that compliment each other, I feel like a god. The combat is fluent and the beautiful 8-bit style of art makes it more pleasing to the eyes. This game also supports co-op (which I have yet to try out). I encourage everyone who enjoys a good hack and slash dungeon crawler to try this game out. Easy 5/5.

I don’t write reviews often... BUT

The animation and art of this game is so much better than what you would expect from a mobile game. I wasn’t expecting much at first, but the second I dodged that first attack in the tutorial, I knew this game was something else. It feels so satisfying to watch your enemies really get hit by the impact, especially when you use your ki burst and see them fly and slam against a wall or something. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes rougelite type games, and ESPECIALLY to anyone who liked playing soul knights. Just keep in mind that similarly to soul knights, a few of the characters require you to pay if you want to play them. Also keep in mind that this game is pretty new, so there is likely to be much more content in the future, and I for one am wholly looking forward to it. Other than having to buy some characters, this game is a definite 10/10, well done chillyroom!

So much more than I expected

Ok, I’ll be honest, I downloaded this game as a timewaster during class when I get bored, but it’s so much more than that. I was pleasantly suprised by the lack of ads, the beautiful pixel art, and the fun characters. Each character has its own playstyle, and despite being able to pay for them, you can unlock all of them for free if you’re active in the game.
Personally, my favorite character to play is Ginzo, but Akaisha is absolutely cracked with her base skill because, although it’s not good for individual enemies, you can kill the final boss in just 1 to 3 skill bursts if you’re smart about it. Even the starter character is lots of fun, she’s very balanced and makes all of the battles fun. I even get to indulge in my gambling addiction with the occasional monster fights you can bet on while in the dungeon (without using actual money).
I’m definitely spending real money on this game, even though I don’t need to, just to support the developers. It’s an amazing game with amazing graphics and is highly replayable. Thank you for making Spanish II and AP Psych more enjoyable classes, because I’m constantly playing this game when I’m in them.

Really Awesome From The Start

I am really enjoying this game already. I pre-ordered this through the quick portal in this developer’s Soul Knight game not knowing what it would be. I’ve had the day off so I’ve been playing it on and off since it downloaded and it’s very similar to Soul Knight in its gameplay but much more fleshed out. The boss fighting and tactics feel much more challenging, not at all like a run and gun. I’ve actually reached the final boss required to clear the normal mode after playing for quite a bit and unfortunately I failed at the last stage from a notification getting in the way but I can honestly say no other mobile game (and even most triple A titles) has made me rage or accomplished like this game does. Since it just came out there aren’t as many modes or features available at the moment but regular maintenance and occasional content drops will keep this game amazing. The only thing I’m really confused about is how to unlock Ginzo’s other ultimate abilities, there are no prompts for using sapphire to learn them once I reach the right levels like there are for the first character. Maybe there’s a higher level cap or a small bug missed during the release but I’m still enjoying it all the same.

Amazing

This game came out today but it’s amazing and it has me hooked! Also the the difficulty isn’t that bad and it’s art style is amazing. Although this game could use some improvements in some areas for the first day it’s a lot of fun and since it’s free there is no reason not to download this amazing game!
(One thing to note to the devs, I don’t believe certain abilities should be locked behind a pay wall I really love Ginzu but I can’t get any one else without paying and things like perks I can only get one extra as well, I think having characters locked behind money is fine but having abilities that are way better than your normal one being locked behind a pay wall is a bit annoying, I do understand the importance of getting money from the game but to me that just doesn’t seem perfect yet, but I understand the struggle and I’d love to support!)

Beautiful game from Chillyroom

I don’t normally write reviews for games but I felt the need to express how much I have enjoyed the latest Chillyroom experience.
Of course Chillyroom is known for making fantastic games, Soul Knight being one of them, but it seems that they have taken it a step further with this game.
The pixel art is absolutely beautiful and the animations are so smooth and satisfying. The attention to detail is also impeccable.
The game has barely come out and I’ve already played several hours just appreciating the art and gameplay.
There is also a very generous amount of the in-game currency given it doesn’t feel limited at all, currently the in-app purchases are disabled but I have felt no push for purchasing anything, however saying that once the purchases are enabled again I will most likely spend money just to support the developer.
My only complaints I feel are minor since I expect Chillyroom to address them soon, the content I feel could be expanded on even further and the armor system feels like it needs just a little tweaking, perhaps speeding up the recovery once all monsters in a room are defeated. Many times I’ve found myself just standing in a room waiting for my armor to replenish.
However all in all it’s is a 5/5 game for me. Excellent work Chillyroom!

Chillyroom does it again!

Anyone who’s played Soul Knight knows that Chillyroom makes excellent quality, super fun roguelike games with interesting abilities and engaging combat/gameplay. That is without mentioning an unbelievable level of replayability, which that also has.

Well Otherworld Legends seems to have hit that mark yet again! I’ve only played for a short while, but once more I am greeted by that familiar level of quality and fun gameplay, and from what I can tell there is a ton to unlock and really cool level design.

If you want to support an amazing developer that doesn’t overload its games with freemium crap and a p2w attitude, support Chillyroom and get this game! You really won’t regret it. The option to spend money is there but is by no means in your face, and I know I’m happy to spend a few $ on such a good game creator to unlock a new character or skin, as long as they keep making such amazing games!

One suggestion

I’ve been playing souls knight for around 4 years and I loved it. (Still do) so when I saw that another game was in the making via peddler, I was super excited and pre ordered it. Now Otherworld Legends has been out for a bit and it’s my new favorite. I’m a huge fan of the art style and gameplay, especially the item diversity. That being said, I only have one small request and it has to do with “WM D6C” (the thing that changes the music) I think that since it costs just as much as an item that could be used for helping out in your run, that it should be like the membership card to where you don’t have to have it equipped for it to work. I’m thinking maybe like a thing you can toggle on/off? Either way, I still love the game and am looking forward to seeing what happens after this. :)

Incredible Game and way to pass time.

I hope this game never dies out because ima be playing this for many years. For those saying you need to buy characters you technically don’t. You can get character fragments by getting 100 on daily activity. I absolutely love the replay-ability. It’s always random. There’s tons of stuff to work towards unlocking it’s perfect if you like unlocking things. Only one recommendation I have other than even more unlockables is the Cloud save I figured out how to save progress but maybe you can add more ways to save progress in the game? Like Game Center or something? I have no complaints. Keep this game alive! It’s amazing! 😁 growing up with the old pixelated style of games threw me back into nostalgia when I played this. Absolutely recommend it!

Great Game!

I’m a huge fan of Soul Knights and this game is just as amazing! I‘ve always enjoyed these types of dungeon crawler games and it’s always a blast playing around with different ability synergies and fun item builds.

As someone who just started playing though, I can’t help but notice how more than 80% of the playable characters and skills are gotten through paying for them. Admittedly, no I have not beaten the game and therefore I potentially may not know if these characters and abilities can be unlocked through completion of the game or achievements, but as of now, I am assuming that is not the case.

I was sort of just hoping that more of the gameplay would be accessible right from the start. I totally don’t mind if you have to pay for some characters or abilities in order to play with them, such as in Soul Knights, but it sort of shocks me when I see six playable characters with unique abilities where one is given to you as a free starter (of course) and the other you just get through the crystals (which are quite easy to farm). And then there are still four more which is quite a lot for the current cast.

Overall, this doesn’t make the gameplay bad in anyway. It’s still an amazing game, the art and small details in the different scenes is always a joy to look at, and there are plenty of item combinations and perks. Even if most of the cast must be paid for in order to play, without a doubt I will still enjoy this game.
