Fantastic title overall

I’ve been playing Another Eden pretty regularly the past few weeks, and really enjoying myself. It’s got great writing and music and the classic combat is really engaging, not to mention the wealth of sidequest content you can dive into to take a break from the story. The gacha element feels pretty light overall; I’ve managed a number of good pulls already and only spent a little on chronos stones, which I was happy to do just to support the game. There are however a couple things I’d like to see taken into consideration. Number one, it’d be incredibly nice if a mechanic were out into place to sell, dismantle, or discard old equipment. I’ve got so many exp badges laying around my inventory that I don’t need, and would love to clean it up some. Secondly, I wasn’t expecting the dungeon from the Absolute Zero Chain episode to permanently disappear when beaten, and still have a lot of kills to go to get the enemy study trophies from there. Doing it in Another Dungeon could take days, if not weeks of work, so it’d be cool if this dungeon could be added to the Records Room. I know it’s unlikely since it’s not part of the main story but hey, gotta ask right? :p But yeah, overall I’m very pleased with this game. Looking forward to continue playing.
Edit: okay so I found out how to get back to that dungeon. XD Inventory Management would still be a nice feature though.

On the topic of costly stones...

I absolutely am in LOVE with this game. ANOTHER EDEN is a beautifully designed game with a story line that seems a bit cliché but adds it’s own touch. I love the characters and their designs, plus their individual animations. This game has taken its own view on JRPG Gatcha games.
I’ve seen quite a few reviews and comments here about the price of Chronos Stones and how “pay to play” the game seems. People have complained about bosses being too difficult for their characters but this needs to be said; THIS IS AN RPG BASED GAME. You need to have TIME to play it and patience to grind it out. I haven’t had to pay for stones and I’ve been able to summon the 10 pull three times since I’ve started playing about a week and a half ago. The bosses are difficult if you don’t grind for leveling(like you should be doing anyway) or have the right equipment equipped. It’s easy to obtain materials to craft weapons and armor and gold is typically not a problem.
There are usually a plentiful of side-quests to do before and after main-story bosses to complete to obtain more Chronos Stones and EXP. If you’re having difficulties beating a boss, try figuring out their attack pattern, keep healers in your party at all time and have people in your sub-party to switch out. Save your power gauge between boss-phases and if you aren’t worried about spoilers, try looking up what boss you’ll be facing next.

Beautiful, stunning, and self paced

I downloaded Another Eden roughly a month after it’s global release and I have been hooked since. The graphics of the game are beautiful, the music fits the scenery, and the character designs are unique (aside from natural 3 stared characters). Each character has its own special story line and unique abilities so you can plan for upcoming battles. This is a classic RPG where you can’t rush into area to area and expect to bulldoze the storyline. You need to to take the time and level the characters and upgrade your weapons. You have the time to do so. This isn’t your typical mobile game where you have to pay to win. It’s single player only and the game gives you plenty of in game currency to take part in the gotcha banners. Roughly every 2 weeks the game adds new updates that are permanently added to the game so if you put it down for a bit there is none of that sense of feeling that you have missed something or now behind other players. The only sort of daily login you have is 30 in game currency a day, which in my opinion is not bad at all.

Another Eden is beautifully designed and completely free. It keeps you playing even after you beat the main content. If you are a fan of classic RPGs this is the game for you. If you are looking for something competitive against other players then walk away.

Awesome Old school JRPG

TL;DR if you’re looking for a typical mobile game, this isn’t it. If you loved the old turn based JRPGs from the PS1 days, you will love this!

I can’t believe that a game like this exists for a mobile device! And that it is free! I absolutely love good old turn based JRPGs like the ones from back in the PS1 glory days. They don’t really make them like this anymore. Plus the graphics and music are absolutely beautiful! I have been playing for several hours and it is so hard to stop.
I don’t mind the gatcha in this game because it’s not really necessary to get the ‘very best characters’ if there are any such thing. I saved all my chrono stones until I could do a 10 pull all at once, and up to that point I never felt like I had any problems with the combat in the game. In fact, I still use the 4 I started out with as my main party. Since it’s not multiplayer you can do your party any way you want without having to worry about competing with other players. I have not at any time felt pressured to pay real money. Although I might just to support this game because I love it so much. I would easily have paid to buy this game in the store if I had known how awesome it is.
I also don’t mind that I can’t sell my old inventory because when I pull new characters I have something to equip them with.

This game is the best mobile gacha game

I’ve had this game for awhile now and I was in love with it. There’s so much f2p stuff to get and do. Yes it’s a gacha game and it take a lot of rng to get the units you want but all most all the 5* are OP as they can carry you all for most of the content, and by the time your stuck you’ll have about 2-3 more 5*. The problem I’m going to explain is called lower gap which happen with the new and huge update making alot of of the old 5* look like child’s play. Is it cool that these new characters are OP? Yes. Is it annoying that I can’t get them Bc I’ve done almost all the quest that give me gems to get these new characters? Yes. Even with this huge power gap, it’s still and amazing game all around. If you never played this game yet definitely give it a try as you’ll be able to, not will you only get OP units, but you’ll see that this game is massive. The music is a masterpiece. The story gives me great xenoblade and chorno tigger vibes, and honestly if you didn’t play those games it’s still a good story. There’s so much extra content that I even forget what I’m doing sometimes. The best part tho is the fact that the company is constantly updating the game. New characters, more story, more events, more extra content, etc. I really do hope you give this game a try as it’s held my attention for 1 year. Thank you for reading this

Fun, basic, a true classic RPG

I have to agree with the other review on here about costly stones, you really can play this game without them, you don’t have to collect all of the characters to progress the game but getting them helps continue gameplay. If you want to support the developers then buy them, I think they should maybe not be so cutthroat about how many you get from buying. Like how about $20 gets you like 10,000 stones that would definitely get people to spend money for characters. Now for storyline it’s pretty basic and cliche but that’s fine the game play is pretty straight forward and basically you just kinda get sucked in for hours running around doing quests and what not. You really do have to get back into your old leveling grinding ways like a true RPG. Now it might annoy you that some of the game might remind you of classic RPG games and characters that show up might resemble other characters and might have the same name even......... but just take it as an homage to past great RPG games like Chrono trigger, final fantasy, breath of fire, and I even feel like some newer ones are a part of this game like star ocean, and xenoblade. If you know any of those games then pick this one up and play it really will make you enjoy classic RPG games again.

Masato strikes again!!!

So I downloaded this game this morning and, since I didn’t have any plans for today, I haven’t been able to put it down. I just got to Ratle and I’m loving this game so far. It’s very reminiscent of the Chrono series (my favorite games of all time) and even some of the music seems to be just altered scores of Chrono Cross music. Ratle is clearly the SS zelbess theme from CC just remixed a bit. A spiritual successor if I’ve ever seen one. And the fact that it’s on mobile and it’s free is quite bizarre but very much welcomed. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but the beginning was rather boring and not very creative. But after a certain someone gets taken, time travel happens and it really picks up from there. I don’t know how long this game is but I hope I’ve barely scratched the surface. The story is intriguing, the music fits very well for each mood, and the combat is pretty fun. If you enjoyed the Chrono games or JRPGs in general I’d say download it. I see there are micro transactions but at this point I don’t see any way I could possibly run up against a pay wall. I died twice to over leveled enemies I had no business fighting but story progression enemies haven’t given me too much trouble at all. I’ll be coming back once I get farther to update this review. 👍

Gatcha is ruining games

Keep in mind I do understand you DONT HAVE TO SPEND MONEY but the gatcha system seems a little ridiculous, the game is a solo player not a multiplayer and with that the price of the draws are a bit high. Nobody is competing for top spots, no ranking system and it’s not a p2w game. Not saying I haven’t been a whale once or twice but $80 for only 3 draws is a bit much, especially considering that in those draws you have a very small chance to obtain a 5 star character which isn’t uncommon among games today but give me a break, of the handful of times I’ve done paid draws I pull multiples of the same character and I mean MULTIPLE. Not sure if it’s a bug only some people experience but the couple times I have pulled a 5 star it’s been Annabelle 4 out of 5 times. Frustrating when you consider that she’s not even on many of the newer banners and has small percentage to pull. All I’m saying is that if you have a certain 5 star, there should be a system in place to prevent you from continually pulling the same character again and again and again. I suggest this because it’s a solo player game, people want to use new characters without shelling out lots of cash for a slim chance of getting something new. New characters are new content with their own stories and quests so having to pay outrageous amounts to access that is a bad mark for this game even though it has amazing artwork and nostalgic feels of any classic rpg.

JRPG Gold!!

I never write reviews on here. This is my first. But I feel ANOTHEREDEN truly deserves it. It’s not just good, it’s amazing. It’s not just some mission based game that they made an app for, it’s a full on game with a plot. All the characters have stories and backgrounds. I love it. It feels like it should be a console game and best of all it’s free. I’ve played sooooo much of this game and love it. Now some people have given it low reviews for having to buy gems to unlock people. And I hate that too. Let me assure you it isn’t the case here. You have so many gems thrown at you you’ll be summoning characters left and right. Meet a new enemy for the first time, here’s five gems. Killed twenty of those monsters, here’s ten gems. Unlocked a new character. Got a character to a certain level. Oh and also you completed a main story point, 50 gems. I get around 1000 gems every other day and summon ten characters at a time. So no, it does not force you to buy gems to unlock people. You can of course do that but it doesn’t give you anyone that you couldn’t have gotten from the free gems. And I applaud them for that. That it is an option for the impatient people. But it’s not required. So if you like old school jrpg games look no further, this one is a gem.

The real deal

This is it. I have been searching for the perfect J-RPG for a while and this is it. When you are looking about the true RPG you are looking for pedigree. This is it, look at the creators. This is the real school of RPG. Hard work, deep story, beautifull visuals, not many people can do this, only the old school JRPG masters can make a game like this.

Dont be fooled by flashy graphics and schoolgirl outfits of other games, this is the true RPG. It is even better than the gold standard RPGs like old final fantasy etc, because those games were made for a different era, when people had time to burn. This game is made for people who enjoy the old school games but also live in the modern world, where they dont have all the time to grind for 5 hours just to beat one boss. The skill system is also updated and very easy to learn. Everything is so clever, so perfect like a fine glass of wine.

I dont even know how it is possible that they gave us this game for free. I thank the developers, the creators, the artists. You made a masterpiece that took me back in time when we fell in love with the RPG genre. Long live the old school Japan RPG. They made a game to not only keep people occupied, but to touch their soul.

Great game but...

This game really is one of the best if not the best mobile games I’ve ever played. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because late in the game it becomes very tedious to get strong enough to progress, taking weeks of grinding to promote any character, you can only get so many gems a week from farming and it’s not very much considering how much late game classes cost to upgrade. The rng can be absolutely mortifing, trying to get a chant script to upgrade one character has a .02% of dropping in very hard dungeons or it costs 400 gems ( you’re limited to 120 a week from farming ) and you need those gems to get the other tomes needed to get your characters other required items. For example, your main character needs 10 special tomes that you can only get 4 per week, 90 of a certain other tome that you might get 2 of per dungeon run, 30 of another tome that if your lucky you might get 1 every other run, and the notoriously difficult to obtain chant script that you need 5 of, you might see one in 100 dungeon runs. Oh and your limited to 10 normal dungeons that don’t even drop a chant script, and 5 very hard dungeon runs per day! So you get 5 chances a day to get a .02% drop. Insane. I quit playing this after i did the math, you have to do this with every character you play with too...

this resolve crash problem & recover your profile

okay, so i found out this is a way to recover your profile easier than going through the developers’ way. make sure you connect with facebook first! after 1 or 2 updates, the game will start to crash once awhile, eventually it will crash every 30mins or so, you need to delete the game and reinstall it. do all the necessary step to get to the new game screen BUT don’t start a new game, instead press the “help” button on the bottom left, then select “connect facebook” it will take you to the facebook login page, log in and a message will pop up saying “you have previously log into a device, would you like to continue” hit yes. the game will do it’s thing, downloading etc, once finish it will take you to the continue screen. hit continue and you will be back where you left off! this help me out alot even though it took some times but it beats the developers’ wat of recovering your profile. who can remember their game id #, how many chrono stones they have, or when the date they started the game or last date they played.... maybe last date. anyway, i hope this help you guys out.

Unofficial Chrono Trigger sequel!!

This has to be one of the best kept secrets in gaming. The only explanation is that it is a “mobile game” which are historically trash. I assumed this would be horrible based on micro transactions alone but decided to give it a go due to the writer and composer. Holy cow.

Not only are the micro transactions in no way required if you are used to grinding in JRPGs, but they can *gasp* be genuinely helpful from time to time.

Beyond that, this is more of a sequel to Chrono Trigger than Chrono Cross was. There are Easter eggs everywhere for die hard fans. I’ve been waiting years for this game, and it has been hiding in plain site on the friggin App Store of all places. I typically despise playing games on my phone, but I’m over 10 hours in with this one so far, and I’m just scratching the surface (I’ve also spent $0 to get this far). I plan on throwing some money at the developers just to support it, as others have mentioned, so don’t let the in-app purchases turn you away. This is an insane game to be giving away. If you play it, you’ll understand why we are all volunteering our money regardless.

Good RPG game

I’ve played this game for almost a year. So far, I am enjoying it. It requires a lot of grinding to gets gems for new characters, or their different styles, and materials for weapons and equipment. The story is decent but not at the level of Chrono Trigger. The graphics are nice for a side scroller. The music is well composed. The only thing that dropped my rating is the lack of a skip dialog option. I’ve read the same request on many reviews on here. I get that the developers spend time writing the dialog for each story, character, and side quest, but they all take too long and eventually I lose interest especially with waiting for every character’s expression and pauses. Please!!! Add a skip option. Nearly every other game has it. The game is lengthy enough with all the leveling and grinding. Sometimes, I just want to log in and play for a few minutes and progress at a decent rate without being bogged down by countless lines of conversations. I do hope the developers listen to their customers. I had hoped a skip option was included in the last update but I was sadly disappointed.

Other than that, still a fun game to play but time will tell.

Wonderful game, but RNG can be brutal

I love, love, LOVE Another Eden, from top to bottom on gameplay, music, design, story, everything. But man, the gatcha just frustrates me, but not even for myself.

My husband is only 4 or so draws behind me, but has only ever managed to get 1 character at 5* to my 18 total from draws (some repeats). I managed to unlock one other in-game one for him so far vs having obtained every single one of them for myself. He’s the one who got me into the game, and we got it within the first week of global launch, and it makes me feel so awful to know how much he struggles with the content and is stuck behind me because he just can’t get any further without more powerful characters. The paid draw prices are steep, far more than any other gatcha-based games I’ve played before, and he’s forbidding me from gift-buying him one of the special discounts because of it.

I know it sounds so spoiled to say, but it really bums me out; I love this game so passionately and miss being able to talk about the story with him as I’m experiencing it, because it will still likely be months at best before he has a hope of seeing it for himself.

Beautiful Money Pit

So this game started out freaking FANTASTIC. Beautiful animation, great story, beautiful artwork, and the quest system and controls and music were awesome. Then comes the combat system. It’s broken. For example, the volcano area is where I drew the line. You wander around, you get thrown into a fight, there’s a rain button, it sounds good on paper but it’s broken. Sometimes the Run button is grayed out. Sometimes you hit it and the game’s like “nope, don’t like that, you forfeit your turn”. And of course you get wiped out because the enemies are freaking OP. And you have to spend 50 chronos stones to respawn. If you do all the quests and don’t pay a dime, you have ~300 stones left by the time you get to the volcano. These are spent on the Flaming creatures in the volcano that spawn a) when you step on a glowing stone and b) whenever the heck they feel like it. If you don’t spend them, you wind up allll the way back at the last safe place, and there’s only like one per populated city. You can use Food to restore HP/MP but you can only carry one. By the time you get to the big bad volcano boss you are broke and lacking in HP/MP and he has so many hit points and does so much damage you’re gonna have to pay for more chronos stones because you can’t run! And you can’t eat food mid-fight either.
This game was so beautiful but I am done.

i’m attached

I am a gacha game junkie and 8/10 games I play in the gacha rpg genre always results in me quitting eventually and feeling empty in my soul and in app purchases. i’ll search for a new game to give me that newbie high until i get bored, but not with another eden. one thing that makes it stand out is how attachable and like able the story and characters are. while given you can’t skip the storyline dialogue anyways, it turns out to be so good and captivating that you grow to love each character. the game is very at your own pace which is another plus. i’ll go weeks without playing the game sometime because life gets busy, but whenever I hop back on i’m reminded how much I love the game. it’s not perfect and has some tedious grinding aspects and your classic gacha rpg drills, but the good thing is that you don’t have to spend money to “succeed”. the game gives you plenty of summoning stones and a decent amount of 5 star characters that can carry you through the game, especially the Persona 5 collab. overall, it’s a heartwarming, pleasant game that always brings me joy. also, soundtrack is amazing.

Great game just needs a little balancing

Great game , nice soundtrack , totally doesn’t feel like a Mobil game more like a ps2 rpg , only issue is balancing the mobs hit way to hard but if your at lvl or a little below you can still get threw which is fine but boss battles forget about it you will have to be at least 4 to 5 lvls above the boss with top gear for that lvl and at least 1 healer which will have to heal every single turn . If you try and fight a boss at the same lvl you better be rdy to spend about 150 c stones for full party rezs . Case and point the lvl 24 boss can 2 shot anyone at same lvl and half way threw fight will throw out a aoe that hits for 900 ish , and then a 2nd aoe that hits for 500 ish no crit , when you can only heal for 200 hp and your toons only have about 1000 hp at that lvl well gl and be prepared to spend those stones . Also no hp or mp pots so grinding which is very necessary is very tedious because you have to go back to town over and over again . But still worth playing and one of the best Mobil games I have played in a long time . Just a few tweaks and balance issues which are not hard fixes .

Amazing so far

Going into this game my main concern was the gacha system, and while I’m nowhere near finished with the game (only about 7 hours in) I can safely say that this game is far from p2w. Unlike most hero collecting games where the gacha system is heavily baked into the game and your overall team strength, this game feels like it was competed without the gacha system in mind, only implementing it afterwards as a way to make some amount of money off this free game. In fact, the gacha is really an afterthought, for me at least. The game is more than playable with the characters given to you through the story, and while the currency used for summoning is scarce and not exactly cheap, I’ve never felt like I needed to have a crazy rare 5 star gacha pull hero to progress. The game itself has great visuals, especially for a mobile game. I’m enjoying the story a lot more than I thought, it being extremely reminiscent of a Chrono Trigger. The combat may be a bit lacking in depth for a lot of the hardcore or longtime turn based combat fans, but I feel it suites the game fine. Overall a great mobile game!

Great game, could use some fixes

Update: the team got back to me and I was able to get my game back. In my opinion, this kind of thing shouldn’t happen in the first place, but they were very quick to respond. At the very least I think the game could benefit from an FAQ dedicated to common errors and how to resolve them in detail.

I’ve had a ton of fun with this game so far, and I’ve sunk almost as much time into it as a lot of the console games I play. There’s so much to love about this game, especially if you’re a fan of classic JRPGs: stunning visuals, beautiful soundtrack, great gameplay, and a super intuitive movement control scheme (which is surprising for a phone game).

HOWEVER. I’ve recently encountered and have heard other people have issues with an update loading issue, as far back as several months ago. No patch, no resolution, nothing. Now I’m stuck here wondering if I’ll ever be able to get my game back, with all the time and effort I’ve invested. Kinda blows. If they resolve the issue, I’ll gladly bump my review up to 5 stars.
