Bait-and-switch

I agree with James McCarty, Trackerguy, and Maui Kid. This was listed on AppAdvice on April 16th and now it feels like a bait-and-switch by the developer. Within HOURS of being posted on AppAdvice, it was changed to a subscription app. Very shifty.

While I can appreciate charging for premium features like cloud sync and unlimited verses, the free version is all but useless since it only allows you to work on ONE verse. Come on, buddy!

Allowing 10 verses in a free version is hardly an UNLIMITED amount and it would better showcase MemorizeByHeart ’s utility. I also support James McCarty’s objection to the limitation on each memory game. Again, SHOWCASE MemorizeByHeart and stop pestering us to upgrade to something we can’t even play with.

Regarding the “Lifetime” subscription, charging $40 puts WAY too much risk on the consumer. At some point the developer will stop supporting it or will run into issues with future iOS versions. What then?! $40/$19 means my ROI > 2.1 years. A lot can happen during that time.

In the end, I would not recommend MemorizeByHeart in its current state. I’d wait for the developer to add more verses and revamp his cost model, then give it another look. Offering another promo on AppAdvice and/or restoring full functionality to the current suite of memory games could also help win people back.

I wish it would remember the preferences

I really wish MemorizeByHeart would remember what boys I picked in the drop-down what speed that I sent it to and what pitch that I selected.

I also wish that MemorizeByHeart would show which line it’s being read as the device is reading it to me. Super annoying to have to move my finger around on the screen to follow along. An added bonus would be if it highlighted what line was being a read.

I really wish the dictation system was better at recognizing the words that are being said. Even if it did yes the next word and use that to determine whether or not the word was correct. It just seems pretty useless that I have to edit it after the fact.

I’d give MemorizeByHeart one more star if there’s changes were made most definitely

Great app, no very good support.

I use MemorizeByHeart and find it very effective for memorizing scripture. I recommend it for anyone trying to memorize anything. I’ve tried about 10 different apps and find this to be the most effective.

That said, the support for MemorizeByHeart is non existent. I paid for the lifetime membership so I could have more than two memorizations at a time. I like how i can use MemorizeByHeart on my phone and my computer and they have a sync feature, but it doesn’t work very well. I am constantly changing my memorizations or making grammatical changes and they don’t sync between devices. Even after turning off sync and turning it back on my computer doesn’t match my phone. Very annoying. And to make it worse, there is absolutely no place to click to send an email or txt for any type of support.

This would be a 5 star app if they had any support function at all.

Helpful and Easy to use

So far MemorizeByHeart works for me. I currently am using the “slider” and multiple choice features. The recite feature only recognizes 80% of my pronunciation so not an accurate result of learning.

I would like to see a loop playback on the “play” feature so that I can do a repeat playback while driving. Also, syncing data across platforms. This feature would raise the rating.

Carefully Researched Sequential Memorization

I just worked through all the memorization process with John 3:16–17. Memorize by Heart Craig is to be commended for not only creating a memorization app, but for the research on a sequential process for taking memorization from the bare beginnings of familiarity all the way through mastery. The developer has done a masterful job here.

I’m a goal-motivated person by nature, and I really enjoy the scoring elements, too—of course with multiple opportunities to “retake the test” and improve your score. Clearly, MemorizeByHeart has also embedded in the programming a good understanding of psychology and motivational strategies.

Best of its kind

I use this everyday now thank you.

Would be great if it could have an option to write in full instead of speak. Or with a little message to remind us to say it outloud as we write. Because I find that MemorizeByHeart doesn’t know what I’m saying. And it’s really annoying that MemorizeByHeart “shepherds” you into that part of it. I just do not enjoy having MemorizeByHeart misinterpret what I say all the time. Another thing is I hate listening to text to speech robotic voices and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Turning that off (or hiding it rather) would be amazing.

Best memory app!

I rarely leave reviews for anything, but MemorizeByHeart has just been so helpful I had to come review it. I have tried a few different Bible
Memory apps, but I wasn’t pleased with those apps. Using MemorizeByHeart for Scripture memory is easy and helpful, and I can also use it for speeches or play lines I need to memorize. I’m not one to struggle with memorizing, but I can say without a doubt that MemorizeByHeart helps me to memorize faster and more solidly, and it also is a more engaging and fun way to memorize. Excellent app, I’ll be a user for life!

Great app for learning Ecclesiastical Latin

This is helping me relearn all my prayer in the mother tongue of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, Latin. It’s also being very much a help in learning the entire Latin language. I am a lifetime member, but would definitely support more language options, right now the closest to what I need is Italian, but some of the pronunciations of words, especially the ‘c’ sounds don’t translate at all, maybe for a future ‘paid’ update. thank you again for such a great app. May God bless you.

Exactly What I Was Looking For

MemorizeByHeart is perfect aid for memorizing written text. It’s amazing how easily it imports PDF documents into its system. If you need to remember something, all you need to do is write in in a Word or Pages file and export it to PDF and then upload it to MemorizeByHeart . Whenever I have a couple minutes, I just open this thing up and recite what I am trying to learn. It makes practicing really easy. I highly recommend MemorizeByHeart.

Great for memorizing scripture

Just memorized a verse in about 20 minutes. Awesome!! Really cuts down on the time. My study group currently memorizes one verse every 2 weeks this will speed us up so much!

Great system for learning the material. So many games and options. Thank you for text size options! I bought lifetime license after memorizing my scripture so fast!!

Love that it allows you to do letter removal or word removal and BOTH at the same time!

Bets App Ever

I had to memorize a Bible verse for school that had 54 words. Usually it would take me about 30 minutes to memorize a verse that long 20 minutes a least, but when I was using MemorizeByHeart to memorize it, it only took me 10 to 15 minutes to memorize it! I 100% recommend MemorizeByHeart. It has smart ways to help you memorize anything you want, First you type in what you want to memorize then you hit “save” once you’ve done that you can choose the hay you want to memorize it, my favorite way is called “slides” you slide theses little slides to pick how many letters are in each word and the other slide is for how many words you want in the text. THIS IS THE SMARTEST APP I’VE EVER DISCOVERD

Great memorization tool

I’ve been using this for a few weeks for Bible verses and really love it. The games are helpful to become familiar with the text quickly. The Speak feature is really what I love since I’ll be saying these out loud without visual prompts. Each feature shows you what you need to correct which is extremely valuable. Very happy I found MemorizeByHeart.

The best app for memorizing lines and paragraphs

I have communicated with the developer and he has shown himself to be very interested in user feedback and quick with implementation of improvements and new functionality.

Remember lines and full paragraphs of text in no time. Yes there is a little work involved but the tools provided in MbH turn a little bit of work on the users part into pages of quick progress.

Great app.

Son using for school memory work

Son enjoys using the games for school recitation memorization. Sometimes the voice to text doesn’t properly scribe what he says, but that’s partly his poor diction and some unusual vocabulary in the poems, I expect. He gets frustrated because it therefore doesn’t give him 100% score. But the point is to help him memorize, and it does that very well when he is attending well to what he is doing.

Great 5 ⭐️

MemorizeByHeart really helps me with memorizing stuff and it is also a really fun way to do it because before I started using MemorizeByHeart it was very hard for me to memorize things like my Bible verses but now it’s really easy thanks to MemorizeByHeart because not to be rude but other app definitely don’t work as good so use this one 😁.

Great!

I have to memorize a really long text, and MemorizeByHeart was perfect! One of the previous apps I’ve used was good but did not work well for long texts. This one is great! My favorite feature is the “first letter” game. It makes memorizing fun, and I was able to memorize it fairly quickly! I love the cute mascot. Thank you for making this!!! 💙

Great app

MemorizeByHeart is a great help for learning lines. my only complaint would be the scramble game. i spend way too much time scrolling through trying to find the next line. I think adding a search option (search for the line that comes next) for this game would make it so much better. other than that, it’s a great app!

Lots of tools to choose from

I love MemorizeByHeart because it provides various memorization tools to fit the style of the user.

I also like that you can test yourself by recording your own voice and having it evaluate how you’ve done. At times the speech recognition gets the words wrong (wood vs would) or (as I vs has eye) so if you are trying to see a 100% score you may never get there. But that is a minor issue.

Another improvement that would be nice to see someday is the ability to record your own voice for the purpose of listening to it repetitively, instead of relying on one of the computer generated voices. This would allow you to set you own cadence.

Awesome addition to my daily used apps

It allows you to paste text from any source and gradually memorize it. Speech recognition allows you to practice and let's you know how well you're doing which is nice so you don't have to have someone else correct you. Amazing job, been needing something like this for a long time without even realizing it.

Script Memorization

MemorizeByHeart is amazing so far except I have one small thing. Could you add a script format for memorizing acting lines. I was practicing my lines earlier but it was annoying because I had to memorize other people’s line as well. If you could add a feature where you could still have the other people lines in the text for cues but only have to memorize certain lines that would be great.
