I’m a bass but it always registers me as soprano, regardless of how high or low I register my reading sample. Absolutely worthless. It’s not even entertaining, except for making other people laugh at its incompetence.
I had high hopes for VocalRange. It sounds great in the description but alas I find it severely lacking in actual delivery. The pitch range finder is way off to start with. I am a bass and for some reason it says “Mezzo Soprano” after recording my voice. That’s ridiculous since my vocal range is from C1-A4. The range scale inexplicably ends at C2, so it’s missing an entire octave at the bottom of the register. Granted not all basses can hit C1 but they should be able to hit either an E1 or F1 and that’s not an option with VocalRange currently. I know you can adjust the sliders manually but, in my opinion, that really defeats what VocalRange was designed to do. Maybe the dev put that in so you could tweak things to see what other songs and artists would match up with you if you sang in a slightly higher or lower register. The top end of the Soprano range does not seem to suffer from being cut short like the bass. There are probably some sopranos that can go above the C6 and would say extend this to C7. I’m not exactly sure what buying the pro version of VocalRange gives you, but I, for one, am not willing to spend money to upgrade an app that in my opinion is already lacking in its delivery. For now I’d say pass on VocalRange until the dev makes some necessary tweaks!
Stops at a C6, which really is not a good representation of vocal range. I can personally go beyond that and it’s frustrating that it ends there. I don’t need to know that I have the basic high note of a soprano down. I would like a more inclusive update for range.
I paid for VocalRange more than a year ago. I just updated and it wants me to pay again and I lost features I had access to from before. I will update this review in a couple weeks to reflect whether or not this is fixed. If it is I’ll give it more stars. If it’s not I’ll give it less.
I did it and got soprano but that just didn’t feel right. Ive always been a mezzo or alto. So i did it again and got soprano again. So i had my friend whos a tenor do it and he also registered as a soprano. I think its a glitch or something.
First I paid for VocalRange prior & there is no way to restore my purchase. Also the range seems off I can jump from bass to soprano.
The older versions of VocalRange were better
VocalRange. has The potential to be a great app. According to VocalRange, I am a Mezzo Soprano vocalist, but VocalRange . only presented songs by Men for my voice. Also, there was nothing current available for me to sing. Especially there was nothing soulful presented. I would’ve paid $3.99 if there were soulful songs available. Lastly, my range surpasses what’s available in VocalRange , but VocalRange stops monitoring before I reach my lower range. I’m a female, but I can sing baritone notes, I can also hit Mariah Carey notes, but again VocalRange would not register those notes.
Had this been more robust, I would have easily purchased it. Thanks for the experience and the work you have contributed to develop VocalRange. I will keep my eyes open for an update.
You have to be in a completely silent room and not move a muscle while you sing, otherwise it’ll detect the slightest noice and assume that it was you who made the single sound four octaves deeper than your normal range and completely screw up the range it’s recorded for you. You can drag the high and low ends of the range yourself to fix this, but that defeats the purpose of VocalRange . Finding singers with the same range is a super neat feature. I don’t have a great sense of pitch so I can’t confirm how close it is, but it definitely seems to be accurate. I only got a very limited number of artists in my range, but in fairness my range is pretty small so that may be why.
When I downloaded VocalRange , It didn’t go past C2 which is a chest note for me, so overall, it was not good to feel that I was to low
I wish it would give a list of singers - I keep getting the same artist which doesn’t help me. I like knowing my range but would like a bigger artist library.
The area that you can manually correct your range - the one in one of the pictures - does not go below C2 or above C6, and if you try to open it when your range isn't fully on there, VocalRange CRASHES. Big issue, needs fixed.
I love the accuracy of VocalRange , it is good for people who don’t have perfect pitch. However I do have one complaint:
The range stops at C2 and C6, plenty of singers can sing higher or lower than that, including myself who can go below C2 and it is especially frustrating that when matching famous singers, VocalRange includes notes like B1 in their ranges and claims that I am a semitone above.
I can sing about three notes higher than the limit is so it is annoying
I’m a lazy bass, so VocalRange was so useful for finding my vocal range. However I can see that thee range that it detects is limited. I’m pretty moderate in my vocal range, so it didn’t create any issues for me, but I know basses and sopranos that could benefit from a wider detectable range. I don’t know anything about programming but I hope it’s a simple addition you can add. Great app.
The place to show your range only goes up to C6 and I know that I can go way higher than that but I don’t know exactly because it doesn’t show higher notes. Please work on that. Thanks.
I may be mistaken, but I believe VocalRange is telling me an octave below my pitch. I don’t think my voice is near a bass but it’s saying that I’m singing a f2 if this is right, I’m sorry. It doesn’t seem like it is though. The only reference I have is my friend who is in choir class and I feel like he probably is right. He’s a tenor with his lowest note being c3 and I can’t sing lower than him, but VocalRange tells me otherwise... 4 stars only because I’m not sure about me being right.
So VocalRange range is from C2-C6 and my range chest G1-A4 total G0-A5 would like if VocalRange had more range on low and high end like a full piano
It was spot on. When I compared it to my piano it was much more convenient and easy to use.
I’m kinda proud of myself I’m a soprano and can sing 4 octaves... that’s Ariana Grande’s range 😭
I love VocalRange a lot!I know my vocal range now!I’ve been searching for a while for an app like this.
The only thing I would change about VocalRange is:
Make VocalRange have up to 6 octaves not 4.
Vocal Range - Pitch Detector appears generally safe, but use with caution.
