Great when it doesn’t freeze

I have TVListingsGuideAmerica on an iPad. It’s laid out in manner that’s easy to read. I can fine tune it for the channels that I’m interested in. I can read the content for each show. I can mark my favorites so I’m alerted when they are scheduled. But what’s driving me crazy is that I cannot slide the screen sideways to view the entire selection for that range request. I have tried moving to favorites or channels and back again, and sometimes this works. But like today, sometimes it Doesn’t. So I know what’s coming on at 6pm ( when I Don’t watch tv) but I have no clue what’s coming on later in the evening when I normally view the idiot box. 🙁 I have even deleted TVListingsGuideAmerica and reinstalled in an effort to correct this. That wasn’t a fix. I have deleted TVListingsGuideAmerica in frustration and searched for another app but couldn’t find anything else that I liked as well. So here I am with my favorite tv app that may or may not show me if anything worthwhile is lighting up the screen tonight. Life is so much more than a tv box but isn’t it nice when the small things can bring us joy?!

The best I’ve used for OTA programming

It’s been hard to find a guide that’s been accurate, streamlined, customizable, and easy to use for cord cutters. It lets me save favorite shows and sends alerts before those shows start. It lets me hide the channels I don’t watch. It lets me look up shows a week in advance. Before I found TVListingsGuideAmerica, I was using 2 different apps to get what I wanted. This one combines all the things I liked about each of those plus adds some more and doesn’t crash like they did. I don’t know if this is useful for those with cable, but if you only have an antenna, give TVListingsGuideAmerica a try.

Nice but Not Perfect and Not Responsive

I have written several times to tech support about a channel missing in the guide that are in the Houston TX market but are not listed:
Channel 61.5 PosiTV
Unfortunately, no response or action has been taken in the serval weeks since contacting vendor through portal in TVListingsGuideAmerica .

I do like the guide, info on movies, and episodes, often you can tap on show for details. You can create favorites and get alerts 15 minutes before program. Unfortunately you are not able to adjust the lead time on alerts . All to often when my mail updates I have missed programs.

Ok but two main issues

This is an okay app. Not very intuitive but 2 biggest problems are the way it presents what’s on and the way it returns after selecting a show.

In terms of showing what’s on you have to select from among 4 or 5 preset time frames, which mean times that have already passed are still on display. This should be a dynamic, always changing thing that lets you scroll a whole upcoming day.

Also when I click on a show to bring it up - which sometimes takes multiple clicks - it returns to top of screen as opposed to where you were. This is very annoying especially if you have many channels selected.

I like how you select your channels and I like the favorites feature but hey need to fix those two major flaws for this to be a go to app.

Pretty good but...

On the whole this is a decent replacement for a different app that became unusable after redesign. My main complaint is that setting up favorite channels is tedious. Instead of selecting desired channels from a very long list, have to deselect the channels not wanted. No quick way to do that, so I gave up after a while. At least I was able to get rid of the unwanted ones at the top of the list. I wonder if the listings would load faster if TVListingsGuideAmerica only had to load the dozen or so channels I want, vs those and hundreds I don’t want.

Switched from TVGuide since update

TVGuide was my GoTo app for TV listings until they complete ruined it a couple of weeks ago. Although TVListingsGuideAmerica is a little awkward, it DOES give a synopsis of the episode and you can search for shows. It does a decent job and is my new Favorite TV listings app. Having to change the hours at the top right is a little annoying but it’s SO much better than the updated TVGuide app which is awful. Thank You for filling the void.

Latest update

So as you said, I changed the provider to Phoenix/Prescott. The guide says I should have 2 channel 5's, but I do not. I do have the new Wbbm DABL channel (that I will be watching) on channel 5.3, not listed on your guide at all. Phoenix is NOT on daylight savings time. Also your guide does not have an update in TVListingsGuideAmerica Store. I am grateful I have TVListingsGuideAmerica by the way, I wouldn't know what shows are on or when. I have rabbit ear/antenna tv not cable. Thanks for your help so far.

Slow

Very slow and when I add a “favorite”, it scrolls back up to the beginning of the channels instead of returning to where I stopped. Very annoying.

Emphatic prayers!

My previous TV Guide app completely changed the listings format so I gave TVListingsGuideAmerica a try.
I have only been on it a couple minutes and I was able to navigate it and was pleased with the way that the listings is laid out.
As they say…… First impressions ……
TVListingsGuideAmerica left a good one!

Good app and easy to use

Installed the On TV Tonight app and found it very useful and easy to use. Have had no problems. Would definitely recommend it.

Was a TV Guide app user for years until their new version 6.0 made their app totally useless.

Crap

It allows me to select the Channel’s I want to see on the grid.- great idea. However, in the GUIDE, it shows the deleted Channel’s in the listing but with no content, just a blank line. Some deleted channels show up with blank, some show content. If there are 50 deleted Channel’s, you have to scroll through 50 blank lines. Well, some lines are blank and some have content. Moving from CHANNELS back to GUIDE TAKES 5 to 10 seconds. I do like the colored labels for sports, movies, new, etc.

Terrible app

Thought I found a TV Guide replacement. I thought wrong. First off app must be abandoned as no update in over a year. For a guide to be workable, updates are a must. Second I couldn’t access a few days ahead of the day I was on. For instance it was Monday but will not let me see what’s on Friday. The search was a joke, and it was very slow. So to me for these reasons, that’s why I think TVListingsGuideAmerica is no longer actively being supported. Shame, it looked promising too!

By

Very good app.

Have used for a year and no problems until today. Now we cannot get it to open. Scrolls a while then says try again later. Trust this will be fixed.

By

Site Concern

Your site is bad. The content is great but the method to allow access is deeply flawed. You allow access then after awhile you ask for me to reregister. When I do you don’t accept it, tell me to reset password and when I try to you lock up the site.
Why is this?

You idiots have fixed nothing. It is now worse. If that could be imagined.

Don’t download. You’ll be wasting precious resources.

What does TVListingsGuideAmerica and Antarctica have in common? It’s always freezing. Not to mention the programming lists and schedules are not accurate. It lists a program and it’s totally something different on the channels. You may as well just channel surf every 30 minutes to see what’s on. Total waste of time and space.

By

Locks up

Scrolling left and right locks up. Sometimes it seems to be associated with drilling down for more information. This appears to be unresolved until you reboot. Other than that, it seems to work. Setup requires registration, which is also annoying.

By

Bravo

I don’t do reviews. But all the improvements you’ve done to TVListingsGuideAmerica make everything easier. Thanks

Love this app, but

But when I try to go to the evening time period it starts at 8:30 and won’t let me scroll right and left. Otherwise TVListingsGuideAmerica would get 5 stars.

By

Too buggy

I tried to deal with TVListingsGuideAmerica for a few weeks, but it drives me crazy! Way too slow. And just trying to look up one evening of tv, it just glitches and shuts off, sending me back to the phone’s home screen. I just can’t anymore

By

Not Loading

Have liked app until last few days. Try to open, but just keeps refreshing. Will not load guide.

By

Ad’s are bad’s

This is awesome but please offer an in-app purchase (or alternative app) to remove the ad banner. It makes my 77 year old mom crazy and I would pay any price to remove it! :-)

By

App is awful

I use TVListingsGuideAmerica for my local channels and I use the TV guide app for my cable channels. Your app show me the tv shows of what’s on, but when I click on the show to get the information of what the show is about the info will not give me any information. Hopefully you can fix that with an update.

By

Sometime it doesn’t scroll

Sometimes it won’t scroll left or right or up and down

By

Missing some subchannels

Overall, TVListingsGuideAmerica works well, but it is missing some subchannels. For example, WGVT has Bounce TV on 26.4, but it’s not available in TVListingsGuideAmerica .

By

Really awful

It’s so slow and buggy that it’s easier to just look up listings on the web page via safari. Doesn’t list episode info, won’t let you scroll over to the next hour. Really terrible functionality.
