Constant Deletion

I never met a game that made me laugh so hard as to shoot a single gold ball into space only for it to land in a bunker shot. After playing the game for a good 3 days, I unlocked most of the golfers and was a few gems away from getting a new ball on the last planet, the rainbow planet. However, since I updated GolfOrbit, all my progress was reset with no way to get it back since there’s no login and back up option in the game. If you can tolerate lots of ads, more ads for perks, repetitive gameplay, and a loss of all your data from an update, then this is the game for you. Cause it’s clearly not the one for me or anyone else. As an update to my review, I can now confirm my app has decided to reset my progress EVERY DAY. Starting from the beginning an the first golfer. This game isn’t worth it to download or get addicted to. It’s extremely frustrating over time and I’ve happily made space on my phone deleting it.

Has potential but ads quickly ruin it

This game has the potential to be really fun but they quickly throw it out of the window. The game mechanics are fun and it is a good concept that will bring some joy the first little bit of playing time. Then you are hit with an ad every other shot. No exaggeration, every other shot you take you are forced to watch a 15 second ad with the only way out of watching them being a $7.99 WEEKLY charge. After about 10 minutes of playing the constant ads make the game unplayable. You will spend about 30-40 seconds per two shots then get hit with an ad. It is painful how much this slows the game down and takes away from playing time. One star without even mentioning how it’s easier to hit the ball backwards than forward or the inconsistencies with the perfect shot going through obstacles.

The objective of the game is...

The objective of the money-making game is to watch their ads until you reach the physical condition of your character to reach orbit. The video demo ad, before you download the game, is highly inaccurate! Do you know the amount of times that I scored a perfect ball and still haven’t reached orbit? Worse of all, they have that weekly subscription of $8+tax, which I’ve only done the trial. You know what’s funny, you’re still watching ads so you can multiply your money so you can pay (digital money) for the expensive upgrades of strength, speed and bounce!

Now talking about the upgrades, you notice at first the differences in strength and how far the ball goes. After a while you start noticed to it apparently applies negatively to you as well. That ball goes backwards so many times and I lose money. After that happened about 40-50 time, I’ve noticed how much of a waste time this game really is.

Do yourself a favor and don’t download GolfOrbit. You’ll find yourself stuck in this loop of continuously watching their ads until you’re done.

Fun game ruined by ads

It's honestly a great game; the graphics are crisp, the gameplay is simple, and it's a fun way to kill time. But each "turn" takes about 10 seconds, and you at most get two turns between each ad. They're usually short, about 5 seconds before you can skip, but a good number of them are 15 seconds and unskippable. Like others have mentioned, there's no one-time-fee "get rid of adds" option, it only comes as an $8/week premium subscription that includes a bunch of other in-game features. I can't think of a single digital service I would pay that kind of money for, let alone a time-killing app.

I have no doubt that the developers know exactly what they're doing by overwhelming you with ads and making the only option for relief unreasonably expensive. Hopefully the poor reviews get the message across and they ease off.

Too many adds. Game progress too slow

This game had a lot of potential to be a fun time killer. But developer greed like most app builders overran this game. There’s an add about every other shot you make. The progress is slow so you have to spend a lot of time on it which most is consumed with adds. The smartphone game industry right now is flooded with games poorly built to just play adds to people. I’m disappointed that this game is that way. And if you want to buy the add free version prepare to spend 8 dollars a week. Absolutely outrageous. Now you can watch adds to gain advantages but no one wants to spend more time watching pointless adds then playing the game. I’m frustrated with all these games and there adds. I get you want the add revenue to make a game profitable. But quit ripping the people off in the process. Things need to change.

Just bad

The first thing you see when you start the game is an ad to get a “VIP” thing that gets you a few extra characters and no ads. I would be fine with that if it was like $0.99 or something but, it’s $7.99 per WEEK. I have no idea how Apple allows that when stupid people will see that and buy it because they don’t realize they just signed up to a weekly service to a garbage iPhone game that is already free. Besides that, the game it’s self is about as fun as watching a dead person sleep. You can only be insane to enjoy this. This is the same game that has been redone a million times but with the added bonus of no sound. Even though there is a toggle sound option, there is NO sound. I have no idea how people can enjoy this game and most of the games on GolfOrbit Store because they are all the same. There are only a few hidden gems in the garbage App Store. If you actually enjoy this game, I need to know why. And if you are paying $7.99 per week for this, I also want to know why. Anyway, this game is terrible, don’t play it.

Relentless Advertisements

Okay, the game itself is pretty fun, if somewhat mindless, but the ads are so out of hand it’s made the game pretty much unplayable. After hitting the ball, you are given the option of collecting your winnings or tripling them by watching an ad. If you decide not to watch the ad, the game will just load one anyway and make you watch it without tripling your winnings. I understand that this is a free game and watching the ads is how the developer makes money, but they really need to do a better job of balancing the play time versus ad time. Currently, you can expect to spend more, or about the same amount of time watching ads as playing the game itself. Then there is the subscription based ad free option which is a complete rip-off at $32 per month. In its current form, I would steer clear of this game.

Fun at first

This game is very fun at first but after you get off Earth getting off Mars is practically impossible. There’s been several times I went all the way around the planet and it still didn’t result in a setup in the fairway. Even more present is getting a “perfect hit” only for that to be followed by falling directly into lava or getting stuck in a tree. Even worse than that is when you end up going backwards after a perfect hit, I’ve gone behind the starting point many times, this effectively makes the game feel as if it’s actively working against you making it impossible to win. On top of all of that the ads on this game are absolutely ridiculous. I normally don’t complain about ads especially on free games, I love supporting small creators, however on multiple occasions I’ve gotten an ad after every hole for over five holes in a row. This wouldn’t be to big of an issue if they offered an add free version for a reasonable price, $1.99-$2.99 sounds fair, but GolfOrbit has it set to $7.99 a week or $32 a month. At that price you could likely go play real golf two Saturdays out of the month and not have an ad for a dating sim shoved in your phone every 30-45 seconds. Ultimately this application has a good enough base but the execution screams lazy and greed driven.

Ads

The ads are terrible, after every game it loads an ad and it’s horrendous. Then to get rid of said ads you have to pay $20 PER MONTH to get the “VIP” which gets rid of ads and get some other pay to win items. Then it gets worse it’s $100 PER YEAR to get “VIP” which had the same as said before. This is stupid, mobile games should be allowed to charge $100 for no ads. For $100 I can get the ultimate edition of any new console game, which includes every single add on included in the price. This game needs to tone down the ads, it ruins the play experience when you have to sit through an ad with an invisible “X” then get sent to GolfOrbit Store then you can go back to the game. Every time. I wouldn’t mind a $.99 no ad option, but the minimum for no ads and useless in game items is ridiculous. It’s not as bad as Bowmasters but still is extremely annoying. Devs if you are reading this please at least add a no ad purchase for $.99, it’s a reasonable price and people wouldn’t mind that, but $20 is too high. The game in itself is fun but the ad experience makes it un-fun to play.

Lots of potential, too many ads

I fully support the idea of the developers earning something from creating/maintaining GolfOrbit through showing ads. However, the excessive use of this method takes all the good from the game.
I like watching more ads because i like to show support and, usually, there are in-game incentives (such as reward multipliers in Golf Orbit); but, i like to make that choice myself.
This game would allow its players to enjoy the wholeness of it if they werent so distracted with the same ad every or every other golf swing.
I tend to ask myself if i am playing Golf Orbit, or just wasting my time watching all these ads so developers can reap the rewards.
Thank you for all the effort you have put in, and you (developers) absolutely deserve recognition and payment. My only criticism is to not “milk it.”

Broken jackpot spin?

I tried to contact GolfOrbit support, but sadly Golf Orbit is not a choice when you are asked to choose an app.
I’m fairly new to the game, and enjoy it. The ads are annoying, but I can deal with it for now. Hopefully they can do something to minimize ads, like maybe play one after X minutes of play time, rather than after every hit.
My biggest issue is the jackpot ad watch/spin. I haven’t been able to collect my jackpot. Says it’s available, so I watch the ad. No spin. So I try it again. Watch another ad, no spin. I have watched the ad 4+ times in a row and still, no jackpot collected...I’ve tried this a few times now, and it’s frustrating. I should have leveled up several times by now with the amount of times I’ve tried to collect the jackpot that the game says is ready for me to collect.

Fun at first... But gets repetitive

I've put 30+hours on this game perhaps only to realize its a big waste of time. The main thing that annoys me is you have absolutely no control over the ball besides the initial first hit, then you watch the ball bounce all over the place until you either land in the water(happens very frequently) or if you're lucky to land in the green you'll get to put the ball in. They definitely need more player control over the ball, perhaps the spin direction, or powerups that allow perks to be able to aim better towards the hole. Instead you're stuck watching this annoying animation to finish, even when you know you haven't got anything special, you're forced to watch the ball rolling back and forth until it comes to a complete stop. Please allow at least the option to fast forward

Mostly fun

Now that the jackpot issue appears to be fixed or at least doing better (I don’t think you can get 100x), it’s worth playing every now and then. The part that makes it not as fun as it could be, the ball comes back towards you after the first or second bounce most of the time. So I can hit the ball 5000 feet in the air and then it only ends up going 2000 if I’m lucky. I’ve even had it to where I’ve gotten negative feet. That’s even the case when I get a perfect hit and the ball is supposed to smash through objects but it hits them and bounces right back from where it came from. If it’s not that, it’s the water. I just can’t seem to understand why this game is called this app. You can only go into orbit on the first world once and that’s it. If there is other times, the game needs to tell us because I have played for a long time and have gotten it to where it cost many million for each upgrade but no signs of orbiting anytime soon.

Too many ads

While I understand that developers use ads to make money and finance the creation of their apps, there are entirely too many in this game. An ad every other play is ridiculous. You would get enough ad views just on the video bonuses alone, but that is apparently not enough for this greedy developer. While this game is fairly high quality in my opinion, and I would ordinarily be willing to consider to pay 2.99 or maybe even 3.99 to eliminate the ads, that isn’t an option here. Nope, to play this game ad free, you have to sign up for a VIP subscription that costs 7.99 per week. $8 per week!? That’s insane! That adds up to $420 per year! I wouldn’t pay 7.99 for this game once, let alone every week. This could be a great game, but the greedy developer ruins it. The only reason I gave this three stars is because you can still play offline, which is rare for any mobile game these days. I’ve had enough of the ads, and I’m deleting it. Don’t waste your time on this.

Needs improvement

Personally I think this game is great. It's amazing but there's a few things that could do some working on. I hear some people say they hit something and go flying backwards. I happens to me too. Sometimes I hit a perfect only to be stopped cold by water. Most of the time it comes out of the water and it still counts as a game over. So I suggest adding a new upgrade. Golf course. Upgrade this would give +5% chance of a clear landing. Another thing that needs working on are the goals ( e.g. "Reach 1,000 to unlock a new character!"). I haven't seen anyone else talk about this but multiple times I reach past the designated length without unlocking because of the fact that you have to put the ball in a hole at or past the goal. It messes me up badly because almost always I reach the goal, but don't make it on a green. Heck my current highscore on the lava planet is 1497 and I STILL haven't passed the 1,000 goal.

In summary,
• Make it possible to reach goals without having to put the ball in a hole.

• Add a Golf Course upgrade adding a +5% chance of a clear landing.

• Make it so that if the ball comes out of the water you can still continue.

• Make bunkers slow down the ball instead of completely stopping it.

I hope you take my review seriously and consider my suggestions. Thank you! 🙂

Great game with flaws

Like the title says, the game itself is great. Very fun to play, challenging enough to make you work for your coins, and a great time waster. It’s just a bummer that half of that time is spent watching ads. I can understand having ads to support your game being free but when the ads show up every hole, every two holes, every x amount of holes it gets to be a bit much. I wouldn’t mind spending a few bucks on an ad free version of this game but to do so you are asked to pay $8...every week...I like this game but I refuse to pay $32 on a free game every month. I’m still playing, don’t get me wrong, but not nearly as much anymore. The ads popping up have started to frustrate me so when they do I close out and switch to something else. Get rid of the subscription service for free ads and make an ad free version at a reasonable price ($5 or under) and then you’ll get my money.

Right off the rip

I deleted this game really quick soon as I start up GolfOrbit wanting me to purchase stuff already and then the amount of ads back to back every time I make a shot no thanks and then eight dollars a week to remove the ads you’re out of your mind instead of trying to make a free game and then charge people for it. How about just charge for a game and do away with the ads You developers make no sense and force these ads on us is ridiculous Yes, I give it four stars just so my rating don’t get buried because you know the developers love ignoring the bad ratings. But this game is straight up money hungry.

Good game overall

So far the game has been pretty good. I am on the final planet with over 13,000 in range. Some of the things others have said are correct. There are a lot of ads but for a free to play, I have seen worse. Overall the game dynamics are simplistic at best and every hit offers some potential to be a great hit. The game is quite small with only three worlds. I would like to see that expand. Additionally it may be nice to have character attributes such as Trump giving three times the coin base. Overall a good game has some potentially but needs more content. Right now, I am hitting the ball into black nothingness in the sky on the third world with no where to go.

Starts Progress Over

Every time I close GolfOrbit and start again it restarts my progress and changes the language to French for some weird reason. I love the game otherwise but it would be nice if my game progressed correctly.

Update:
Leaving 1 Star in hopes it’ll be seen.
I left a review as well but the game keeps restarting my progress and in a different language -.- Other reviews are saying the same. Can you please fix this because otherwise I like the game even if the ads are there. Thank you!

Additional Mechanics and Physics Bug

Loving this game to death. I’ve noticed an annoying physics bug. The physics on the green is inconsistent with ball’s of the same energy/velocity, sometimes the green acts like sand trap capturing the ball and slowing it significant, arresting its bounce, sometimes it acts like the fairway. One of the other, please.

Opportunity for more game mechanics! Some examples:

1) 10% multiplier bonus for every bird hit.
2) 5% multiplier bonus for every structure destroyed.
3) 1% multiplier bonus for every 2500 ft.
4) add a height mechanic as well. Bonus for achieving a certain height, etc. this would make instances where the ball gets popped up by the landscape not quite so painful.
5) give the difference golfers bonuses to abilities so it’s more than just cosmetic.

Some quality of life changes:

1) differentiate the energy level of the ball a bit more so the player knows when it won’t break through obstacles any longer.
2) make the “air time” relative to the height and not a constant time between bounces.
3) add a ground speed indicator for giggles.

OK thanks!
