New Star Manager Reviews

Hopefully, I will be able to update to a higher star review in the future. The base game is good, but needs some work. Unless you are winning the league, the board, fans, media, etc are all going to be upset. Not realistic, especially if you were just promoted. Once you are able to get silver + level players, they get upset because it’s difficult to get silver level trainers, so you cannot train them. There is also an issue with the keeper getting a red card. You have to play with a keeper and it doesn’t let you sub them out. You lose major points during interviews that test your knowledge on random facts about your play through. Interesting concept, but probably should only have positive effects, otherwise it makes the game annoying to play. Once they fix the balance of the game, I will probably come back to playing it.

New Star Manager is one of the best sports manager games out there. Every aspect of NewStarManager is good. The you you buy a player or staff member is good. The way you upgrade a player of staff member is good. The way you upgrade a building is not the best because it gets very expensive very quickly, but other than that I like it. The only thing I will criticize is the way you play the actual games. I don’t like how you only play short clips of the game, rather than the whole thing. And I guess I get how it’s supposed to be more of a managing game than a player game, but it’s just something to think about.

My main issue is that starting yesterday, when I open NewStarManager within a few seconds a white screen comes up, and it doesn’t go away. I’m not sure if it has to do with the update that happened yesterday, or something else. Either way I can’t play the game, and it’s driving me crazy. This game is definitely my favorite game at the moment, and now I can’t play it at all. Please do something about this as soon as possible. For now I am downloading another manager game to play, so that should give you some encouragement to fix it.

I like the concept of the game with the managing and all but there are some things that could be improved. For example, you start out in the bottom league. My team finished first but my players ratings were well below some other teams ratings so I lost a good amount of games. I was fine with that cause I thought I’d move up one league and still be able to compete. Nope. I moved up 4 leagues and now my team is nowhere near the level of other teams. I didn’t realize that this was gonna happen so now my team gets hammered every game and I have serious player issues. I think each league you win you move up one league not a ridiculous amount. There was no warning or anything about this so it’s kind of screwed up my entire progress. There are also game control problems. For instance, you can’t lob the ball for a cross or play it over defenders. Also, when you give a pass, you can’t determine power. So lots of times I’ll give a through ball that goes all the way to the keeper even though I put it a little ahead of a player. I know I wrote a lot of things but this game is fun and addicting but could be a lot better.

This game has such a solid foundation but there are some things that can make it very frustrating. First of all the sort of downward spiral you can get stuck in is nearly comical. Let's say you lose 2 or 3 games in a row, now your players are concerned about team form which makes them unhappy, which causes them to make mistakes which makes you lose more, causing then to get more upset. You end up getting stuck as they keep making mistakes and it becomes very difficult to string a couple wins together, as only 1 win has a minimal effect. Maybe to combat this there could be some type of boost to happiness for breaking a losing streak? As the players would be happy for finally getting a win.

Another thing that ties into this is player happiness. Maybe some players should be less effected and some be more (and not just from traits)

Again tying with the happiness, I'd like to see a system where you can designate a players role. There's only 11 positions, not everyone can be a starter. But if you could search/sign people who are ok with being rotational players or subs it would also help with the happiness problem.

TL;DR: Good gameplay, players never have energy so you can’t train them, also you never make money and can’t buy things

I love the gameplay, the way to pass and dribble and shoot is great. However, it’s so easy to win games. In my first full season I am currently 19-1-0, I should not be that good yet if ever. Plus, there are many out of match things that are lacking. Players should gain energy between games and at halftime. If you don’t rest team at least every other game you will have no one that can play. This also makes it impossible to train the players which always makes them upset they aren’t training. This also means my team is never getting better which is a problem. There just needs to be more energy automatically given. Plus, it is soooo hard to make money and I never buy anything because I’m always broke and stuff is expensive. It takes me a whole season to upgrade 1-2 facilities to level 2, buy maybe a player and that’s it. I love the gameplay and overall feel but a lot of managing aspects need rebalancing.

The energy and team improvement systems are lacking badly. This game has a ton of potential however. Players should generate energy in between games. One game should not completely make a player useless and extremely vulnerable to injury. The ability to acquire better players is also lacking. There should be a way to get packs without paying real money. Possibly another form of ingame currency that can be earned by winning matches or completing task, or leveling up your manager. The fact that there is no other way to get a pack is very unfortunate. Players should also progress or regress naturally whether that is at a halfway point in the season or after each year goes by. I want to grind to improve but I feel as if the developers of this game are heavily focused on forcing players to purchase packs. I hope there comes better ways to improve. Really want to continue to enjoy this game seeing that I­t­ has a ton of potential.

I'm not one to leave reviews for apps but I have been playing this game nonstop for weeks if not months at this point! This is an incredibly well-thought game, comparable to the likes of Football Manager or career mode in FIFA. The gameplay is simple yet engaging, I never feel like it's a drag to play through the games. Since it's a mobile game, the pick-up-and-play aspect is really convenient which is why I think I've been so immersed in NewStarManager. The only complaint I have is the aggressive marketing of in-app purchase. However, I've had NewStarManager since July and I've never bought in-game currency and I'm doing just fine. I will admit I've watched a lot of ads because of NewStarManager. Ads are everywhere, after a game you can expect to see an ad. However, I rarely play more than one game at a time, so realistically it's not too annoying. By watching an ad you can increase your players' energy. Usually I hate this in mobile games, but I watch a bunch of ads anyway because I wanna support the creators. I just play them in the background while I listen to music. So again, great app and an amazing upgrade to the original New Star Soccer!

First off I’d like to say that this game is ingenious and creative, and I’m surprised at how much fun it is. I’ve played new star soccer before but this is amazing. However, I have a few ideas that could improve the game. There should be events where you have to defend and clear the ball, where the opposing side has possession and you have to stop them. Also, there could be an event where you’re the goalkeeper and you have to save the ball or be punished with a goal. Some other things: passing back behind the half or passing to the goalie should not stop the play, possibly make a way to cancel passes, maybe find a way to be able to obtain more energy cards when selecting that option, and have player packs that you can buy with in-game currency. I feel that the game could be better with these, but it certainly is fun and unique 👍.

I love this game. I played New Star Soccer before and haven’t played it ever since this game came out since it’s so addicting. Everything was going great until a recent update starting glitching out the game. Sometime it’ll say one player failed to pass to another, which means they dislike each other. But not it says that one player failed to pass to themselves! It cause you to get scored on and makes no sense. Also sometimes when you make substitutions It won’t let you make the subs you want and keep people in it and only works if I put a person in the wrong position. The game got messed up from some update because this never came up when it first came out. The idea is good and the game is great, but I think the latest update messed some things up.

I love the gameplay, it’s really fun and addicting. Nothing beats the feeling of a well orchestrated plan coming together for a win. The biggest thing I wish was that you could select more than end of game reward. It would truly enhance the gameplay a remarkable amount. The opportunity cost of not selecting either the skills coach or fitness coach is ridiculous. And the only reason I can see for having the scout is so that you can complete board missions. The other thing that really pisses me off is that when you scout or bring up a rookie, while they are good players, they are never for a position I care about. It seems like they are the least useful position for your squad at that time. I got like 3 DRs in a row. I wish there was a way to select a position you want to train the rookies to.

I think the developers need to realize this is a soccer game not rugby, why is it when the opposition get the ball they automatically kick it off field? When you are in the oppositions half of the field the game should still be playable not automatically ending play and making you use a restart. Allow the purchase of cards to be used by in game money! Also it seems that some of the games are literally scripted, it doesn’t matter how many goals you score or how many times you replay the game, you will not win that game as in the last dying seconds of the game even if you are 7-0 up, all of a sudden the opposition comes back at a ridiculous rate and you lose anyway, like you never had a chance, Needs plenty of improvement

I’ve been playing this game for years and have been a supporter for the game for years as well. The game overall is solid and it’s one of the best manager games out there. My ONLY problem with this game is that before you could see the stats of the league leaders depending on what league your in. But now they update the stats every round, which to be honest takes away from the game ALOT. Mostly because your playing a new round almost every two to three games so your players who have 30 goals and 30 assist every season don’t even come up on the stats leader board. It’s updated so it just takes out the realism of the game. If you guys could update that little bug then 10/10. It really makes the game feel more real when you actually see the leaders in goals and assist all season long.

It’s really fun and addicting it just gets annoying because the players are constantly out of energy and it’s almost impossible to have a fully energized team. And that would be fine if it weren’t for the fact then when their not energized they are constantly hurt. And since they are de-energized then you have to use your card bonus on energy instead of skill boosts. Then without the boosts the players are left unhappy. And i find it dumb that the only packs you can get are ones you have to pay real money for. They’re should be some you could buy with in game currency even if it’s just low leveled players at least i could then get more people on the bunch to use when energy is low.

I love this game and I have had a lot of fun with it for the past week or so but I just have one minor problem. The European leagues as qualification has a minor problem. I got knocked out in the playoff (the last round) round of the champions league qualifiers and I was expecting so Europa League Football but instead I had no Europe an games. I hope the can fix it where if you get knocked out in the 2nd round qualifying of champions league then you go to the 3rd round qualifying of Europa League instead of going cause that’s how it works in real life. You also can’t transfer list players which is kind another small, but important piece. Plus if your a really bad team and you face a really good team, I understand they will Score a lot but they also score every free kick which is pretty unrealistic. Otherwise it’s a great game and I enjoy it a lot.

I love literally everything about this game, however three things should be improved. One of them is the free kicks, they are either great scoring opportunities or pointless play resets. What I mean by that is that you can either directly shoot it or you are forced to pass it to someone next to you, there are no real set piece plays in the game. And I think this is due to the next problem. Why can’t you lob the ball? Pls pls add that with the passes just lets select the player and give us an option to hit the ball in a certain way or just two passing options. At least when the player is in a certain position, give the high cross option pls. Finally, the tutorial is kind of sloppy and I don’t feel like it fully introduces the functions of the games. What I mean by that is that there is a lot of managerial goals set by your bosses that I don’t really know how to achieve because the tutorial doesn’t really cover those aspects. For everything else, this game is pure gold.

I really enjoy this game because it gives you total control of a club like FIFA. However it’s hard managing a bunch of players who all feel like they should get regular football regardless of their skill level. Maybe adding player roles and a loan system could help? Also, this may be asking too much but there needs to be more done for the defense. Whenever the other team gets a chance, your defense, regardless of skill level, is very likely to concede and there’s nothing you can do about it. Still a very immersive experience.

How?! You guys went from an amazingly fun game with New Star Soccer, to an even more fun, slightly different 3D version(which is perfect, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. And if it’s just a little worn out then a little upgrade never hurt did it?!)!! And the best part is that this game you can play for hours on end and never once have to worry about paying or having to get off to get energy back or something!! This company truly is a modern marvel, and should be considered the ideal model for other companies to follow. What I love is that they seriously brought every issue that they had to the table with NSS and clearly, they said “what can we do right now to either fix this, or to make it more fun?” And they absolutely nailed it! Easily the best game I’ve ever played. So far no bugs, no glitches, just another excellent game created by this company. Can’t wait for more from them! Thank you so much!

Definitely when changing clubs. I think less should be taken away. I know. Jumping from first division and being champion, doesn’t make sense to go to a different club and start at second division. Also when switching clubs. That club you switching to should have some sort of upgrades on facilities and also a signing bonus. When from millions of bux to like 50,000 bux... no point in my belief to change clubs and go to a complete downgrade. You should be advancing and accomplishing more and earning different cups. Also you should be able to buy players from different nationalities and not just from the country you’re playing in. That way you can refer to players from your old club and sign your best onto your new crew! Great game. I play everyday but some major updates should be done

This would be a great game but there needs to be a few things worked out first. Firstly, when you’re chasing the ball you have to use your finger on the player you want to use but this often means covering up the portion of the screen that you want to move in to essentially making you blind to whatever is happening in that portion of the field. Secondly, sometimes this game feels very scripted, like it knows you have an objective to accomplish so the difficultly gets turned way up to make it near impossible. Third, the energy levels on players need to be reworked so that players regain at least some energy between games. Without this you’re constantly needing to focus on energy cans and, because of that, you can barely focus on player development. If they can fix these problems this could be a great game.

Very engaging, in depth enough to keep you involved and thinking, while also casual enough to relax and just play some footy.

Something I didn’t find out until many many hours in, you can purchase players from other leagues. If you search, you can only see players available in your league, but if you’re playing in a cup match like the UCL or UEL, and you go into your LEAGUE menu, you can see teams in your group stage or in your fixture list. When you tap on those teams you can tap on any one of their players and attempt to buy them. You can also look at The Who are the top scorers or who has the most assists and purchase those players as well. There are a lot of hidden gems on other teams in other leagues for a good price, you just have to look.
