PinTraveler is too simple, the free version is useless, and the paid version is expensive.

Like a million other apps out there you can pin the cities you’ve travelled to. Well I’ve been to 125 countries and 1000+ cities/ locations. For this to be useful it should be able to import locations from Tripit, or my emails, or at the very minimum by scanning my photo locations. It didn’t even ask for photo permissions at all. Maybe this is because I am a free member, but who knows? I can’t test that.

Look developer: There are two ways to do this right. Either 1. Unlock all of the features but limit people to 50 locations so they can properly test PinTraveler . OR do the opposite: 2. Unlimited locations but you don’t have all of the features. Then I might be willing to start entering my locations manually. You’ve done both and it doesn’t make me very interested in doing much with PinTraveler.

I like the idea but…You only get 50 pins for free before you have to pay a premium price for more pins. I bet I can use 50 pins before I even reach 100 miles of my home town. I don’t want or even need all the extra features. I just want to be able to record a new city I visit so I can look back on my travels. Silly that they think I will pay that much for pins. Why not have unlimited pins and pay for the extra features.

I will be deleting right after this review is posted.

Only way for me to return is free unlimited pins.

Revising my rating downward. There are two flaws with PinTraveler for ongoing usage.

The first is if you visit the same city twice, PinTraveler lumps the trips together not realizing that this is two totally different trips - different travel partners, different activities, different photos, different stories - that happen to be in the same city. This flaw kills any usability if you ever visit the same location twice - like visiting different friends that live in the same city - understand those trips get jumbled together.

The second of that is has an awkward navigation building a smooth multi-city journal. It feels like PinTraveler was conceived as a “document each trip to a single city” concept.

The developers should index primarily by trip id then city with a SEPARATE function to see everything for a city across trips. IT 101 basically…..

I like PinTraveler and especially the potential of PinTraveler as they make improvements. Using this as our trip journal. Can just click on a stay and see note Anne’s photos related specifically to that stay. You can also just see your total status across many trips. Very responsive to my email.

PinTraveler was pretty cool and fairly easy to navigate, UNTIl you reach your 50 FREE PINS!!
Of course, they don’t tell you about the 50 free pins until after you’ve created an account using your email!! Very Thoughtful of them.
Are you serious! I can place 50 pins in my home state, let alone the rest of the WORLD. I for one am NOT paying money to get extra pins to mark locations on a map that I know I’ve already been to.
It would be a fun App if they gave you all the pins you need for FREE.
In my opinion, it’s not worth the download.

PinTraveler works great and is much more lively than the alternatives I found. I like how you can add photos to pins and change pin colors, but bruh really, why is the premium version a subscription?? What exactly am I subscribing to? If the fully paid version was like $5-10, I'd buy it in an instant. But this makes me consider coding up my own version.

I am a frequent International traveler. Pin traveler has been a joy to use to keep track of countries and cities I have visited.

I recently had to resolve a question about my subscription and the guys at Pin Traveler were a pleasure to deal with, very quick responses, and everything was straightened out immediately.

Great app with excellent customer service. I highly recommend it to anyone who travels and would like to easily keep a log of their journeys.

I went with PinTraveler after checking out a few others. I like some of the features, but it isn’t perfect. First PinTraveler doesn’t let you zoom that far out on the map so you can’t see all your pins in one view. Really surprised it was lacking this simple feature. Also, I wish it showed you the stats of the perfect of world and countries you’ve to. I also wish it shaded the countries you’ve been to in addition to adding the pins. What I do like is, with the pins over shading you can better see the small countries you have been to easier. I also like the stats it provides like farthest points you have traveled. I also really like that you can log your trips in addition to marking the places you have been. It’s a nice travel diary to go back and see information you want to remember about the places you have visited.

I used to keep a travel map with pins, but it became awkward and outdated. I looked for a replacement and found Pin Traveler when I'd just begun an island cruise to Greece. I loved dropping pins for every island and historic site I visited. I loved it so much that I purchased the Lifetime Membership within days of installing it.

I gave it only four stars, as I sometimes find navigating the features awkward and non-intuitive. Reading the help solves some of that, but my biggest hurdle is lumping pins into a single trip. And once a pin is dropped, it's hard (for me) to add it to a trip. I'm hoping a new feature including easy to create and edit multi-stop trips will be added.

Additionally, since Apple has made it possible for some iPhone apps to work on Macs as well, I have been trying this out on an M2 MacBook Pro. It seems to work well, is stable, and using the trackpad as a "pinch and drag" device works well.

I hghly recommend thi app, and I look forward to the updates and improvements coming soon.

I use this to see where our products have been shipped too from purchases. I really like seeing the overview of the map and where our barrels and poles have been sold. I like that I can color coordinate the pins for our products too. Red pins is where poles are, blue is who has our barrels and orange pins is who has both. To view the map and get an idea where our products are located is awesome!
What I would add is a tab to select which pin color you want to see when on the map overlay.
Also would be nice to see pins by year. You can select 2019 and see pins just from that year. 2020 and see pins from just that year. And can select the color of pins for that year.
This gives us a great overview of where our products are being purchased.

This is a great way to document your travels. I used to use a spreadsheet for my travels, but this is a lot more fun. I like that you can add pictures and other locations within your destinations. The layout is clean and easy to understand and simple to update. I gave it 4 stars because I always think there is room for improvement. I bought the Lifetime subscription and it is well worth it. Have had fun looking at all the places I have been. Great little app!

PinTraveler is very close to what I consider ideal. The only feature, and possibly I’m missing it, is to be able to drop a pin exactly where I was. In my case, the Arctic and Antarctica, PinTraveler just drops a pin in the middle of each, no where near where I was at. May be minor for most but this would make it perfect for me

I just purchased PinTraveler, after using Polarsteps. I love that PinTraveler is so user friendly, however I wish it would allow me to add my pics for each part of my trip, rather than just a place. If I add a trip, Cancun, LA, Honolulu, I want to post all those pics on the trip with pictures. And the next time I visit Cancun on a different trip, I want those pictures with those dates.
Besides that PinTraveler is great, I also wish it would automatically track my trips and arrange the pics or me, like Polarsteps does.

This program supercharges the old concept of putting pins in a map. The zoom in zoom out feature on the world maps gives a fantastic ability to see an overview or detail of places visited. The number of countries visited or the percentage of countries in the world visited allows a clear picture of how far your travels have taken you. Truly outstanding for a visualization of your travel history.

I've been looking for a substitute for TripAdvisor's Travel Map for some time. This is it. These guys have a simple, clean, and robust platform. Unlike trip advisor they are extremely helpful and the data is yours...not trapped behind some protected server. I'm moving all my pins over now and they even have offered to help make the switch!

I used PinTraveler during my trip to Toronto. It was super useful to pin restaurant and cafes I'd been to and wishlist places I want to go. I even got places recommended for me using their new AI features. Seeing all of the countries I've been to is also great and makes me want to travel more!! Premium is definitely worth it for people who travel frequently.

This is by far the best travel journal I have!
I tried mutiple ones and this is the only one
I ended up keeping and loving! Sure you have to pay for a lifetime premium but it's like buying yourself a travel diary and it will store all your memories forever! Every feature that I wanted on a travel diary is on PinTraveler! Add as many photos to every country you went too, pin places you've been to in that country and you can even specify which city you went to and also add photos and pins to that specific city!

The developers are very responsive and has good communication when I had problems. They never leave it unresolved!

PinTraveler has gotten better with the updates since I started using it back and 2021! Love love love PinTraveler! I can't wait to see what it has to offer this year!

I have used the Pin Traveler app to journal over 100 trips taken over the last 49 years. The interface is well designed making it easy to quickly add new trips. I especially like that there are several ways to display my travel history through maps, photos, timelines or through various statistics. I tried several other travel journaling apps and Pin Traveler by far is the best app for my needs.

Pin Traveler is one of my favorite apps!! Even though I’m sitting at home right now, I love being able to look back at my past trips and add my future trips to my wishlist! I especially like that I can pin specific places within cities—like restaurants or bookstores—that I really want to visit. Here’s to hopes that I’ll be able to move some of these pins from my wishlist to my “been” tab soon :)

I love PinTraveler! It has been the perfect tool for my big road trip. I’ve been marking off everywhere we’ve stayed (adding in a photo and description) and even marking off everything we’ve seen. It’ll help me keep a record of everything we did and it’s all in one easy to find place. I’m also using it to pin places I definitely plan to visit and some I’d like to if possible. Seeing them pinned on a map allows me to come up with the best route that’ll get me to as many of those places as possible.

I have wanted and easy way to keep track of all the places I have been and this is sooooo it! I searched through so many apps like it but they were all way too complicated and not as easy to use as pin traveler! Totally recommend for any traveler. The only thing that I don’t like is that premium is expensive. I would totally get it because I love PinTraveler but I’m a broke student traveler who is spending all my money on new trips soooo I can’t spend the money but maybe one day! Love PinTraveler though! Totally recommend!

I have been using Pin Traveler for a number of years and it just keeps getting better and better. I can easily organize my pins into trips with discreet stops and select my own master image for the trip if I choose. With descriptions for each stop I can incorporate trip journal items. Trips now show a line connecting all stops in sequence which is so valuable. I also organize all my trips images across pins.

I have 279 pins across 67 countries so indeed it is a must for me.

As important, the developers for pin traveler continue to be receptive to suggestions.

I am SO glad I discovered PinTraveler! I’ve struggled to keep track of all the countries and places I’ve been to and this is going to be a game changer for me. The interface is first class and I love all the customization options available. I am going on a trip in a week and I’m excited to be able to journal everything I do! Also- I had an issue with the subscription. I emailed support and not only did they resolve my issue, but they responded within two hours!!! This kind of customer service is unheard of today. Please give PinTraveler a try- you won’t be disappointed!

Really love PinTraveler I’ve been using it for years now and anytime someone gets me talking about travel it’s my go to visual aid. I had a question for customer service today sent over an email and same day got a response and was told how to do what I wanted because it was already a feature. Really appreciate these guys!

I’ve tried a few apps that are designed to do the same thing — keep track of all the places I’ve been to around the world — and Pin Traveler is by far the best designed of them all. I like the ability to pin based on cities or regions and the list is very comprehensive. It’s so easy to use and navigate. Definitely recommend it as I’m a lifetime member now!

Can’t praise PinTraveler enough. I work as an actor so I’m always traveling to new places. The adventure is part of the fun and it’s always hard for me to remember where I’ve been and to catalog details, pic, etc. I was on my way to a shoot and was dreaming about an app that could help me with this. At first I found lots of travel journals but that wasn’t what I was looking for. Then along came PinTraveler, almost like I dreamt it up.

The features are robust enough to be useful without being cumbersome. And the layout and user experience is clear and direct. I immediately bought the lifetime membership.

Thank god for PinTraveler. Download it and keep them in business!

I was looking for an easy way to track the places, states, cities, and countries that I have been to and experienced over my lifetime. Doing it the “old fashioned way” of pinning a world map was no longer working for me. I came upon the Pin Traveler app and quickly discovered that it is a great tool! Full disclosure, I recently needed to extend PinTraveler to my iPad and admittedly mistyped my email address. I reached out to PinTraveler owner and they were very swift and helpful! I highly recommend this to everyone who enjoys traveling!

PinTraveler is an excellent way to keep a diary of lifetime travels! It allows to input details of travel. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great way to log their travels as they happen and then to look back and share with friends and family!! Their customer service is excellent as well!! I had an issue that they were quick to respond and fix!!

PinTraveler is absolutely the best for keeping track of places that you've been in places that you want to go. But what makes PinTraveler even more special is the level of customer service when you have a question or there is an issue. Recently, I had an issue with logging in based on a mistake that I had made initially, and their customer service department worked over several days to fix my mistake and stayed in contact with me via email for several days in a row as the problem solved. I highly recommend PinTraveler to anyone who travels.

This is the perfect app to keep track of the places you’ve visited, and not just the cities but also the restaurants, bars, cafes you’ve been to and loved! I can just pull up the map and look up the places I have been to in a city and recommend them to my friends. Wishlist addition is also a great addition! Highly recommend it to everyone!!!

Just signed up for a premium subscription and I’m really enjoying the photos that I can add to my pins. PinTraveler is such a great tool to track and remember all the places I’ve been. I’ve been pinning everything since I got it: cities, restaurants, museums... definitely a must have for every traveler

By far the best "places traveled" app. I use it very simply (just pin places I've been and then wishlist places I want to go to) but it's perfect and elegant and doesn't pressure you too spend money. And the nifty extra features are very cool. Thank you for making this!!!

I’m addicted to PinTraveler. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for to document my travels! PinTraveler would be perfect if you could list the places costed such as restaurants etc like you can fit the cities costed instead of having to tap into a city pin.
