The base function is beautiful, backing up your data is not

EmotionTracker is very helpful for being a diary and tracking my mood! The reminder notification has been helpful for reminding me to check in, and the actual short formed diary entries feel so convient to write and note down memories that would otherwise be gone.

The main issue I have with EmotionTracker however is that backing up and restoring your entries… it has to be done manually yourself and through your iPhone file storage. iCloud backups are locked behind a paywall, and that in itself makes it hard to recommend EmotionTracker to anyone who might lose their phone or forget to back up data. The other premium features are not as essential such as making custom labels for events, and more customization, but this back up feature is what makes me hesitant to recommend if you can find something that offers it for free.

Great app mostly

I’ve used it for over two years now. And it’s been such a great and easy app to use. I’ve somehow barely managed to fill out every day and it’s amazing to see my trends and how easy my mood is affected. That said EmotionTracker isn’t perfect. Recently I noticed after an update a banner always asking me to upgrade for the premium features I’ve already been using this whole time. Which is annoying as EmotionTracker was free. And I really don’t feel like moving to a different one. I did decide to buy the premium lifetime so I don’t lose my history but it is annoying in this age of everything is a subscription.

Overall great app, great functions, and great features to track and show mood over time. Plus super easy to use! At least the premium is cheap.

Also Makes a Nice & Easy Gratitude Journal

I have been using EmotionTracker for quite a while, now. It can actually help to give a boost to your mood, because you can select which actions you participated in during each day — which can then serve as a reminder of good things you experienced: thoughts about these positive experiences can then serve as “prompts” for notes for journaling or notes of gratitude — which can, also, be done in EmotionTracker ! It, also, generates a feeling of accomplishment and positivity to view the symbols and graphs that show progress with your mood. ( I even purchased the up-graded service, because I loved being able to create my own colors for EmotionTracker — colors I love to look at. :) I enjoy using EmotionTracker every night — I, now, go to bed feeling mostly positive about the day that I had. I would recommend it to anyone.

The best mood app ever!

First of all I really love EmotionTracker. I almost never buy apps but let me tell you it’s worth the small price. I have chronic anxiety and some days can be really good or really bad, seemingly for no reason. EmotionTracker is extremely helpful for grounding and keeping track of my emotional patterns. It has helped me to be accountable and better communicate with my therapist. I love how simple and friendly the interface is. It’s so smooth and not intimidating at all. I’ve tried other apps but quickly stopped using them because it felt like more of a hassle than a help. With EmotionTracker I actually look forward to checking in because it’s so easy. Anyway you should download EmotionTracker lol. It’s fantastic

Simple but powerful - actually using it

I came across this application incidentally and decided to download it as I had been considering starting a mood / activity journal of some sort for various reasons. I’ve been very impressed. It is easy and intuitive to use, powerful enough to be useful, and I love the opportunity to optionally add free form journal entry to each entry. I’ve used the reminders functionality so that I’m prompted throughout the day to make an entry. I enjoy the UI/UX.

One area I’d like to see improvement on is instead of just a linear scale for mood represented by large frown through to broad smile, the ability to record emotions via an intuitive emotion wheel chart.

Pretty perfect app

Just moved in with a girl and her kids and after an argument last night, i woke up sort of mad and depressed. So much so that it made me want to track my happiness for a while to get a good visual sense of what my life actually looks like and if I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. I was hoping that after a few month, the answer would be clear.
I purchased EmotionTracker because it looked fun and complete and it does EVERYTHING I need it to do and more. It makes me aware or my moods and what affects them, completely feeds the dataviz nerd in me, and I even naturally started using it as a journal from day one even though I never held one. Great job on EmotionTracker. Thank you!

Best mood tracker I’ve tried

All the features you’d want without the mumbo jumbo. I don’t want an app to motivate me to meditate or workout or whatever. Just to track. EmotionTracker does that in style. I was a user of Moodistory years ago and stopped for a while. The additions to EmotionTracker since I have returned to using it make it even better and really show that it is maintained by a caring dev team. My favorite new feature is the widget that shows you photos associated with good days. What a nice thing to have sitting on my Home Screen. Thanks to the Moodistory team for making a feature heavy yet still no frills app for mood tracking.

Simple and comprehensive

I’ve used a lot of these over the years. I appreciate that this doesn’t try to be more than a mood journal because it does that REALLY well. It’s modifiable to what you need and track and simple. At first I was annoyed that there’s no true neutral option but after using it appreciate having to decipher which side of that I’m on. Very useful for anyone doing therapy or medical work where mood tracking is relevant or someone looking to gain more insight into trends/correlations and how they are day-to-day.
EmotionTracker for the Apple Watch has helped me log frequently and quickly (under 30seconds if I’m not specifying any tags)

Good app, plenty of features

Title. I like it. However I don’t usually write reviews for apps I download, but the developer seems to respond to them and there is a design flaw I would like to mention.

When you scroll through the moods, you have to move your finger from the right to the left to get the LEFT option. This should not be the case; it is backwards.

When you move your finger to the left, it should move to the right option. This is how it is when you scroll through a webpage as well. It is very confusing the way it is right now and against the norm. Please fix or give me a solid reason why you have it the way you have it right now!

The best one I’ve used

Such a well designed app!!! I’ve tried a few different journal/mood trackers before, and while they are all functionally similar, I’ve found Moodistory to be the easiest for me to maintain by far. I haven’t missed a single day of recording my mood since I first downloaded EmotionTracker a few months ago, whereas with other apps I often stopped a few weeks in. I think a big reason why is, EmotionTracker is just soooo well designed and pretty to look at, so it’s quite a pleasure to record my mood! All of the diagrams and stats are useful too. Worth every dime :)

A tangential note - as someone who’s dabbled in mobile development and has interest in UX, apps like this one inspire me to learn more

Exactly What I Wanted

I have been planning to make some software that tracks my mood along with my vital signs on and off for about a year now and I am so happy I found EmotionTracker. It does exactly what I want it to and even had a reminder that I set towards my “wind down” time of the day. I think the data collected from this, along with other health metrics, could have very useful implications for actionable steps to improve one’s quality of life. I was happy to pay for EmotionTracker and I hope to see wide-spread adoption and use of EmotionTracker! Please market as much as you can reasonably afford to and get some testimonials of people who have made changes in their life for the better with EmotionTracker. 10/10 please continue to update and support 😁👍🏻

Extremely underrated

This is the best journaling app I’ve ever tried. A great UI that is clean and simple yet offers tons of customization. The color palettes are like glasses of fresh cold water to my eyes. I drink it up. I love looking back and seeing pictures. Just random picture from 2 years ago on my balcony. Not a special picture necessarily but it was of my view in that moment. Reading the entry really took me back. This is a fantastic app that I’m getting back into and hope to fill it up. I journal in a proper notebook as well so I think I’ll use this more for quick thoughts feelings moments and of course the pictures. Where as my journal I’ll probably continue to use more long form entries.

Easy and Intuitive

Moodistory is a very simple but effective app to track mood. There aren’t a lot of layers to go through to actually record your information. You can track mood and associated activities, and EmotionTracker presents that info back to you in visually appealing and useful ways. EmotionTracker will show you a calendar with your recorded mood and give you information about activities associated with positive and negative moods. There is also a good amount of customization for folks who want to record mood at different times of the day or have a different scale (e.g., 1-5 instead of the default 1-6). The visual customization is great, colors are distinct, and the graphics for activities you can associate with your mood are nice. Highly recommended! It’s helped me with perspective on how I’m feeling without taking a lot of doing to enter the information.

So much customization!

I bought EmotionTracker after seeing a post on Reddit featuring it. I’ve been looking for an app to track my mood and this does it so well! From having intuitive reminders to being able to customize my color theme, I feel like EmotionTracker does everything I could ask for. I love that you can record what activities you did throughout the day and write a short note about the day. It’s such an awesome app!

My one recommendation would be to integrate Apple’s Activity and/or Health App, if possible. It’d be cool to see how much physical activity you did (or didn’t do) throughout the day to see how it effects your mood. I know nothing about app development, so I don’t know if it’s even possible. Overall I am loving using EmotionTracker!

Love it! Helping a lot!

I really like the ability to track what’s making me feel certain ways, if I were to make a suggestion, I’d say more icons for events, more color customization (editing the background, text color, etc), maybe customizing the little mood not with a hat or something would be kinda neat, and lastly, more color options, maybe being able to select colors from cmyk sliders, a color wheel, etc and add them to the base palette or at least a few for a favorites bar or something. I’m also having a slight error wherein the missing entry icon on the page that shows recent entries won’t go away, even when I click it and make an entry it doesn’t leave and I have no clue what it’s for or what to do about it

I’m impressed

I’m a 23 Male and I have to say I am enjoying EmotionTracker a ton. You can customize it to be a mans experience rather then a woman’s. Several apps like this are catered to women.
I like having a place to post my feelings and the things I’ve done during the day. It’s also nice that I can go back to any day and read the fond memories or the dumb problems.
I personally haven’t changed anything in my life because of EmotionTracker but that’s because I’ve only been using it for a week. I fully plan on changing my daily life because of EmotionTracker.
I also agree your health on iPhones should be connected to EmotionTracker and also I have no clue if you could partner with Fitbit but that would be great.
Thank you for the fantastic user interface and the cheap price.

Most Useful Mood Tracker I’ve Encountered

I started using Moodistory to track my moods to see if I had PMDD. Spoiler: yup, I do. But I still use EmotionTracker multiple times a day to track my moods and journal my feelings. I am trying to be a more responsive parent versus a reactive one and being able to journal on the spot is very useful. I can also use the mood tracking to see if anything is going haywire with my hormones or meds.

I also LOVE that you can make your own color scheme. That part has helped my brain with the data the most! And my doctors love the data tabs because they present everything in an incredibly detailed yet readable way. Definitely worth the download and definitely worth the subscription.

I’m really loving this app!

It’s so simplistic (which is a great thing because other similar apps are overwhelmingly complex) & easy to use.

I love the widgets! It makes it even easier to use and easy to remember to log each day. There are a lot of options to add to each entry in an easy way (like activities, food, location, a photo, etc) but you can also just keep it more simple and only log mood or add just a few words. That makes it easier to log my mood especially on days when I’m feeling down and have low energy.

I also like that it’s obviously not harvesting my data! I tried some other similar apps and felt creeped out that I had to log in through another service like Google, and it was clear that my data wasn’t going to be only between me & EmotionTracker . This one feels so much more secure! Like the point of EmotionTracker is exactly what it is, mood tracking, not anything else. At this point I have nothing to hide from Google or anywhere else lol but it was refreshing to see that EmotionTracker keeps my entries & info secure.

Overall I really love it! And I can see it being hugely beneficial for me. Will definitely be supporting EmotionTracker ’s developer by buying the full version after my trial. It’s worth it!

A few misunderstandings but fantastic customer support

So by all rights I had my apprehensions and was quite upset with a couple of features that in turn were based on my assumptions rather than the text at hand. The watch app currently does not support GPS location when logging events, though through my support emails that is subject to change it looks like, and the watch app does not support logging heart rate during the taking of mood notes which is something I had assumed it did but upon further reading of the text description realized that it was my error in that assumption. While I have provided suggestions through the support emails and the responsiveness has been high, I had originally planned a three star rating. But based on customer support and future upgrades I reserve a five star rating.

A lifesaver

I’ve never written a review for an app, but I feel so passionately I’d like to write one.

EmotionTracker is incredible. The customizability makes it so that it can be whatever you want. I use it to track not only mental health but chronic illness symptoms. It’s so handy to be able to keep and write this stuff down, especially with my ADHD, so my memory is terrible. It’s a lifesaver to be able to pull up EmotionTracker and tell doctors what’s been going on.

Another thing I love about EmotionTracker that you don’t seem to get with many others is you can put in multiple entries per day. My mood fluctuates so much, so this is a really important feature to me.

The customizability not just with tracking but with the colors and app icons are very fun. You can truly make it your own. I love EmotionTracker with all my heart!!

My only suggestion is to please add more icons! Even miscellaneous ones to choose from. Those would be super cool and I’d love to see that in the future.

Thank you for making EmotionTracker!!
