FindYourWay with Amtrak Reviews

Did not perform as advertised. It lead me twice to a wrong area, almost missed my train! There are no actual directions, it is a general map with a line of ‘where to go’. It does not tell you ‘go to lower level’ or ‘take a staircase down’ or anything. And the station looks very different from the map, which is more like a sketch. The Information booths and Penn Station employee helped me much better.

Despite configuring my settings per the instructions, this didn’t work for me. I wish it had more tools (and capabilities) for planning where to go in advance of arriving at the station. When I’m in the middle of Penn, I’m not trying to have my nose glued to a buggy app figuring things out on-the-fly.

So hasn't been able to load train data for weeks. UI is clunky and barely makes any sense. Map of Penn station is cool but without train data is pointless. Train data should be rolled into the main app.

Can’t even get past 2nd page. Keeps telling me to check my internet connection. All other apps work. Internet is fine. FindYourWaywithAmtrak is the problem. Please fix!!

The map doesn’t show anything about where the elevators are. For people who cannot use stairs or escalators, FindYourWaywithAmtrak will not help you

Even the “App Support” link doesnt work. Setup stalls saying I dont have internet access which is irrelevant because Im on my phone... but I do have good internet access.

FindYourWaywithAmtrak listed the wrong gate for my trip. By the time I figured out it wasn’t my train and found my appropriate gate, I almost missed my train.

Setup screen says “Setup failed. Check your internet connectivity”

Sorry, this just seems too much like a big brother app to me. I understand that directions are given by using beacons places around Penn Station by the developers to find you and then show you the way from that location to your destination, BUT it should allow you to opt out of that feature and just use the maps. However, I have a feeling that the authorities don’t want you to know where you are without them knowing where you are. Maybe that’s good for security, but it is too intrusive for me and requires too much of my trust that my info won’t be misused as surveillance. I’ll just bumble along on my own.

I’d like FindYourWaywithAmtrak to better explain why they need your personal information (name and mobile number) to set up. The T&C’s don’t offer much confidence. For station maps and status boards, I see no reason to share that info with the company Amtrak hired to collect it. Offer a “guest” login at least so users can see what is behind the registration page.

The only reason to have FindYourWaywithAmtrak would be live gate updates, which it doesn’t deliver. FindYourWaywithAmtrak has train schedule info, but it’s only for within 2 hours of departure/arrival. Just use the Amtrak app.

I can’t believe I just discovered this...it’s killer. I hate waiting for my train with the hordes of people on the main level at Penn Station (technically “lower level 1”)...and prefer to wait on “lower level 2”. But Penn Station is such a crap hole, all the status monitors on that level are broken/turned off as of November 2018. FindYourWaywithAmtrak allows real time train and track status—and even allows setting a train for alerts...which seems to work very well.

The location function is pretty neat, too. It’s not something I really need, as I’ve been to Penn so many times I know the station inside and out...but in my testing, it did seem to locate me accurately, which means it might be very helpful to someone who doesn’t know how to get around.

I can view track assignments again! Love FindYourWaywithAmtrak. All trains are shown 2 hours before & 2 hours after departure. Even works of you aren’t at Penn Station!

So not useful.

I go to penn station twice a day and often found it difficult to find the status of my train and the gate number. The normal Amtrak app would not do a good job of this. But then I found FindYourWaywithAmtrak and it looks awesome!
