SynScanPro is a mess. Unreliable, really bad UI for connections and settings but just doesn’t connect to the WiFi signal with any sort of predictability. For all the effort and hardware devoted to making the GoTo mounts WiFi ready this should be a lot easier and better.

The instability of the SynScan pro app on iOS renders my AzGti Mount almost unusable. After taking the time to get the mount aligned, SynScanPro invariably hangs or crashes, usually after moving the mount with the down arrow key. It has been like this for two years. There is apparently no support for SynScanPro.

Wifi connection shows good in phone settings but app will not connect with no device found error. Network is selected for connection type in app. At this point absolutely useless.

SynScanPro worked great on my iphone 8 under iOS 15 back in February (I would guess version 1.19). I set itt aside for a while, and now it is unable to connect to my mount. An automatic update (now v.2.1.11) has broken it. Advice to users: disable automatic updates. I can not find a way to downgrade SynScanPro to an earlier version.

On iPhone XS, can’t even get through alignment. Crashes on first or if your lucky to get to the second just quits. Was really looking forward to this with the new built in WiFi on the XT10g but no go. Connects fine but won’t either crashes or freezes in a few minutes, never long enough to align.

Sometimes it tracks, sometimes it doesn’t. Hard to tell why because it is hard to tell when it is tracking.
Make SynScanPro pretty useless.

Latest version cannot reliably complete a two or three star alignment without crashing. Or, if it manages that, crashes on next slew and whatever model it has to that point seems to be gone or corrupt and pointing accuracy goes to heck...and so back to alignment, if you feel lucky. Massive disappointment and waste of time.

When it works, it’s fine; but too many crashes. Frustrating to say the least.

When it works it works fine, but for some reason if you try to use SynScanPro a second time after you finished a first session, it will just not work at all, you go to the star alignment and it will go to a completely wrong area and possible hurt your equipment by trying to make it go below the horizon. I’ve tried the reset alignment button and it just doesn’t do anything

So if you got it to work once but not again, I would try to reinstall SynScanPro

Also the design of SynScanPro is very weird, you’d imagine ‘polar scope’ (a critical piece of alignment) would be in alignment but it’s in : Utility, Advanced, Polar Scope ?
And of course the aforementioned issue where it fails to completely reset alignment

I got SynScanPro about a month ago. I find it works fine for a few minutes after I turn on the mount and start SynScanPro , but then SynScanPro hangs and none of the buttons work. So for me it is unuseable. I think we need a bug fix version.

If, and I caution you, you use SynScanPro do not ever use the Home feature. If you do, be right beside the mount because it never goes to the correct home position. It can cost you dearly in broken equipment.

It seems like the longer you take to do you alignment the more SynScanPro tends to freeze. Also seems to get access error codes any you have to start over. If it’s working it’s a cool app. I really don’t trust it anymore and just go to it to update the hand controller. It’s too bad because it would be much easier to navigate.

If SynScanPro loses connection mount stops tracking, this is in iOS 18.1. Not sure what’s happening but worked find in previous OS. When you reconnect the scope shows no tracking

I like SynScanPro, I just wish it was more stable. I’m using it on an AZ-GTI with my iPhone X. It loses connection often and sometimes it crashes when I hit the down arrow button in the telescope slew control. Also wish it would save my settings. I often have to go into the buried menu and turn on tracking, which honestly should be on by default. Also when I pull up the comet library it reloads and is blank for a long time and makes me think SynScanPro has frozen. And sometimes SynScanPro does freeze.

This is a great app. The only complaint I have is in night mode there is a bar at the top that doesn’t turn red and is too bright.

Hello, how are you? I wanted to make some recommendations on the one hand, they would have to make an update that does not affect the SkySafari pro, however when you want to put this in order to keep it in the field for Jupiter when you look for it in the database, appears and yet it is there if that they would have to fix another would have to improve the presidency with which it follows the objects and add more content to SynScanPro or more galaxies nebulae stars planets exoplanets asteroids comets satellites etc also the places where The Apollo missions and the Roberts from Mars, for example, descended, but above all, improve the effectiveness with which you look for things and that the controls are not branded because you have just Wi-Fi, however I understand that you have to work at Wi-Fi but at least those things I should be able to do but outside of that the truth is not so bad the question if I think they would have to improve this

SynScanPro works great for me! It provides a seamless wireless interface to my EQStarPro modded Vixen GP which allows me control the mount with Sky Safari Pro.

This is a killer app for my iPhone and iPad.

I use SynScanPro on several Sky-Watcher mounts now and will never go back to using the hand controller. This interface is easier to navigate and works flawlessly. Location set up is done automatically which is another bonus.

Highly recommended.

SynScanPro has worked wonderfully no delay zero issues I’m not sure why the other reviews all complain of crashing or it just not working they might have older phones or wrong iOS this is an iPhone 15 at IOS 17. Works like a charm

I’ve used SynScanPro for over two years and have had no issues whatsoever. I works beautifully and does what I need.
