Online tuning apps are ok but if you feel like a string is going to snap or something is going to break stop twisting and go the other way! I was using SimplyTuner and being a fairly new violinist I was tuning the E string and it seemed to be going to high. I didn’t listen to my gut feeling and the string snapped. Although violin strings are not super expensive please take the 5-20 dollars to buy a real tuner. They are much more accurate and there is less chance of string snapping. I hope this was of help to anyone who read this.

I needed to tune my violin, and as I was unsure how to do this myself, I decided to download an app to help me. SimplyTuner seemed decent, it looked nice and had good reviews, so I took a chance on this one. It can’t be too hard to get tuning a violin right, can it? I opened SimplyTuner , and got to tuning. Tuning the a string went just fine, and I moved on to my e string. I got it pretty tight, but it still said my e string pitch was very low, and that I should keep tightening the string. As I’m no expert on tuning violins, I decided to trust SimplyTuner . I go to tighten a bit more, then snap! My string breaks. The strings were in good shape as I had just bought my violin new, so the string did not break because it was worn and was gonna break sometime soon. It broke because I was told to keep tightening it, when apparently it had already reached a good tension. Now I’m out a fair amount of money as I will have to buy a new string or strings. That’s why I’m giving SimplyTuner 1 star.

For the first three strings this tuner worked alright, however when I arrived at the G string, SimplyTuner up and had a stroke. I would tune the string, I would be told “perfect” and move on. However after letting the thing reset and playing the same string again, which had obviously not changed pitch in the slightest I would be greeted with “very low” or “very high”. Mind between these tunings I did not play the violin or wait any amount of time. Each of these was taken within 5 or six seconds of one another, after making sure the pegs were tight and secure. Infuriating! It could be good, but right now it isn’t cutting it.

On the first day I downloaded this it worked fine and my instrument sounded fine and had the correct sound, but then the next day I decided to practice so I needed to tune my instrument. I had finished with all the rest and was on my last string to tune but it kept telling me I was to high so I loosened my A string but it still said that it was to high so I kept loosening until my A string came off, and sense I only just started playing the viola I have to have my teacher fix it.

Last time when I first got SimplyTuner I was calmly tuning and then... d strong go SNAP... I was very surprised and sad because I am a young and in learning cello player... I wish this doesn’t happen again and also the room I was in was pretty silent to and I’m trying it again and now I’m outside next to my house and lotta sounds and it almost made my a strong nap bc I felt straining and lotta pull. This might be bc the background sounds so I’ll blame myself for this one

I will never tune my cello by myself without my Beethoven sister or just wait till I get tuning classes

I wrote another review before this and I was really mad when I wrote it because there was a glitch and a couple other things but I’m so sorry. It’s a really good tuner app. It’s super easy to use, too. I recommend getting it. I was also mad because I don’t like being called a begginer. I workee hard on my violin 🎻. If you’re reading this, don’t let what other people say bring you down. It only matters what you think, not what other people think. Bring your self up into the clouds! There’s no limit! I love SimplyTuner! It tells you exactly how high or low the sound is! The only thing that is bothersome to me is that SimplyTuner doesn’t automatically sense which string you’re playing- the user needs to lean down and select it.
Overall, I highly suggest SimplyTuner for anyone who wants to accurately tune their instrument. Just a little feedback for the developers.

SimplyTuner works really great and is amazing for tuning your instrument, but sometimes when I’m tuning strings, G string in particular, SimplyTuner seems to pick up different noises and the line goes up and down, making it a little harder to tune. Other than that, it’s great for tuning and I would highly recommend it!

During this Pandemic, you can’t really go to go to your teacher or person who normally tunes your violin/viola/cello. Me who’s WAS in this situation downloaded SimplyTuner and this really helps!!! If I need to tune my violin SimplyTuner is always there (unless my phone died). Sadly this doesn’t work with Bass/Double Bass, so Simply Tuner, please add a Bass/Double Bass for those string players. This also helps with beginners for now and also gives them tuning experience and they can use this when ever who normally does it for them isn’t around. The other downside is that you will want to rely on it too much because what if your phone/iPad died and that person who tunes your instrument isn’t around, then that’s a problem. But ending in a high note, this really helps you!!! 😁

I am a beginner violin player and usually have my teacher tune my violin but with this Covid-19 going around my violin hasn’t been sounding pretty. I still wanted to play my violin tuned so I looked for something like SimplyTuner! It’s simple enough for a beginner to understand but it’s really accurate! Overal I have no complaints and the person reading this should really try SimplyTuner out!

This tuner is very good and would highly recommend! I love how it is so simple and easy to navigate. It does not have any in app purchases like so many other tuners I found. I appreciate the simplicity of SimplyTuner and its accuracy. I have never bought another tuner since I found this. A total life changer!

About all of my classmates have bought a clip-on tuner that costed $20-35, and I’m one of the only ones who chose to download a tuner :0 My parents don’t have the time to buy a tuner but I have the time to download an app! Anyways this is great, completely functional, free, and I can also tune my friend’s viola. This is a great alternative, and I would definitely recommend it!

I’ve been playing the violin for about 7 years and I’ve always had issues with tuning it because I was scared of breaking any strings. SimplyTuner tells me exactly what I need to do to tune each string.. FOR THE LEARNERS THAT USE DO RE MI FA SO LA SI DO SimplyTuner uses letters (like most english apps) but it also shows which string it is so it will not be confusing. Good luck!

It ls so awesome because when ever you need to Tun your Violin you just play the Note and there’s a bar that has a line that you can look at and when you play the note it will tell you to Tighten itIf it’s low it will tell you to loosen it if it’s really highBut when it’s perfect they were just goes directly to the middle and that means that your note is tuned and you don’t have to worry about it that’s why I love simple tuner go check it out

I looked at a lot of reviews that said they broke there strings using this. It is a little slow I had to wait for about 15 seconds for it to load but, it works well I hit my Violin weird and got the D string way out of tune but now it is in perfect tune! I think the people who broke there strings weren’t patient enough if you look at the little blue bar tighten the strings then pluck it and wait it will load and you can get your whole instrument in perfect tune!

Love it! Check it out if you don’t have a tuner, if you want to train your ear or perhaps like me could not find a regular tuner that was great for violin that I liked. The only downside is if you have a sacrilegious 5 string violin there is no C string. Not a true violin anyways so not really a problem. You can always tune the C string off of the G string once it is tuned. I have both a 5 and 4 string, either way it is a great app! I especially like that the tuning sound is not the annoying classic beep on handheld digital tuners.

I wondered why the rating was 4.2 stars so I looked at the reviews, and a LOT of them said that tuning was all over the place and their string broke! I don’t know if it was user error or a bug, but if it was a bug they most definitely fixed it. SimplyTuner is great and keeps my violin perfectly in tune. I highly recommend it, and I’m pretty sure it was either a bug from a long time ago.
Edit: it works perfect on my iPad, but was really glitchy on my phone. Not sure why.

I’m a beginner in playing my violin and my teacher always tuned my violin. Since the whole pandemic happened I was never able to learn how to tune I tried but I couldn’t. I then found out my teacher left my school and I had to figure out how to tune my violin. I can across SimplyTuner and decided to try it out. I found this really helpful and I’ve been using SimplyTuner for at least 3 months already. I really recommend this to people who are beginners in playing the violin and for the people who don’t know how to tune.

I’m in the eighth grade and last year was my 5th year playing the violin and I did virtual learning for school, so that also meant I took virtual violin class. Normally before COVID happened my Violin teacher would tune my violin for me, but since I played the violin virtually I didn’t have him in person so I had to find a way to tune my violin at home. And I couldn’t have asked my parents because they would have broken it. So my violin instructor told me about SimplyTuner and it is literally amazing I play the violin everyday and SimplyTuner makes it so much more easier than calling my violin instructor so that he sit on FaceTime with me for at least a good 15-25 minutes just to tune my violin.

I use this everyday to tune my violin before violin class! It’s simple and easy to use, but definitely worth getting! I recommend this to any beginner violinist or anyone who simply wants to tune their instrument. Plus, it’s free to install, so you don’t need to spend money. I have tried various tools in the past, but this is the simplest and most accurate that I could find without it costing money. Oh and for anyone actually reading his, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECTION! so practice right now 🎻

SimplyTuner is really nice to use to simply tune a violin, viola or cello, and it’s minimalist theme features the simplicity of just a tuner, nothing more. I like SimplyTuner very much, but it isn’t meant to be the type that has a metronome, songbook, and other features. Very nice app tho!

This aps is easy and simple to use.. you precisely zero in on the right tone on every tune up.. what’s nice about it is the fact that it has a graduated level in which to set the tone in, whichever you prefer to set it. Wonderful!!

First off there’s NO ADS. Ads make SimplyTuner completely TERIBLE and SimplyTuner has none, yes none. SimplyTuner helped me tune my new viola. Now I can tune without having to go to my teacher every Thursday or Friday. SimplyTuner helps a lot!

I’ve tried multiple apps that had good ratings and they didn’t work at all. This is the best one I’ve found that’s spot on and gives a tone to match.

If you don’t want to waste money on a actual 20-35 dollar tuner then this is SimplyTuner for you. It is free and works well. Until you want or get a tuner you can feel and touch, this digital one will do perfectly!

This isn’t feature rich and doesn’t need to be. It’s an accurate tuner as long as you make sure your device is positioned properly in relation to your instrument. If you want just a quick and easy tuner, this is the one.

I tried 2 other apps before this one and they didnt compare. they were less easy to use and gave less accurate results. SimplyTuner is definitely the way to go.

I love SimplyTuner and it works great but I’m just curious, when I first got SimplyTuner about a month ago it was in English but it randomly changed to Chinese or something. So I don’t know how you can change it but if you can I’d love it!!

Since I have to stay at home I often get bored and whenever I get bored I sometimes practice my violin, I also practice my violin everyday. Every time before practicing I use SimplyTuner to make sure my violin is tune. This is an amazing app!

Please try this out. I have been playing for over 12 years and have struggled to find a tuner. But now I’ve found one and will never back away from it!

Beautifully simple and fantastically effective! This is THE tuner to get! And it’s truly not just for beginners either, I find it to be extremely accurate and it also has the ability to tune to the tone being broadcast from your speaker as well. I recommend it highly, and it’s free as well!

I like how it gives instrament options. On top of that it has made it so much easier to tune. I would totally recommend SimplyTuner
