Perfect amount of data

I don’t normally write reviews, but this is niche need and I thought a review might help those like me needing g a way to track their bowel movements. PCal is by far one of the most useful I have ever downloaded. I appreciate how easy it is to use and how much information it helps me keep track of. I have been able to determine my patterns and have been able to link my diet more to my digestion. My favorite feature is probably the Notes option, which I fill in each time, but I also really like that PCal tells me immediately how long it’s been since my last BM. I have had a form of IBS-C for years, and PCal has helped me see clearly what medicines work and how they change my digestive patterns. I upgraded to the premium version and can’t wait until my next doctors visit when I will have a treasure trove of information to share—I know it will inform my doctor better and help me stay on the right treatment plan.

I love this app

I was so happy when I found PCal. I usually have difficulty using the bathroom and I don’t have a normal routine. PCal has really helped me keep track of everything and I love it! Thank you so much. However, I do wish that you could change the time to 12 hour format. I also wish it supported dark mode. I pay for premium as I like having Face ID and iCloud backup, but I do wish an Apple Watch app was available!! Most health apps like this include an Apple Watch app which is a bit disappointing. And if there could possibly be a way to have this data in Apple health that would be great. Other than that, amazing app and I highly recommend it!

Easy and no loud pop up ads

I love PCal to log my school age sons BMs. He’s had GI issues since a baby, and doesn’t go every day so it’s great to see in calendar view the last time he went. No more sticker calendar. Easy to use and no annoying LOUD pop up commercials to track (like another I tried for myself). I can easily go back and edit time, or type etc if I make a mistake. Others you have to delete the entry and start again.
He thinks it’s funny you can add a picture. Always telling me “Mom, is this picture worthy?” I’d prefer not to have to see every BM but that’s the life of this Mom. SMH
Now if only I could track two people (for my own tummy issues) this would be great. Think of people tracking with twins.
Thank you this app!!

My dr loves this app!

I sometimes have trouble answering all of my doctors questions accurately so PCal is extremely useful when answering their questions about my bowel movements. I like how discrete the tile is on my screen and the different descriptive options it has for documentation.
I think the only thing I find lacking is a pain/cramping scale. If there was a feature to document your level of stomach cramping and/or pain when having a movement I think it would cover every aspect of a BM.

Doctor loved this app!

I have IBS-C and used to only give my doctor a guess as to what my bowel issues had been for me after I would add or remove Rx or OTC Meds, dietary changes etc. Now I’m much more confident when I answer his questions.
Some suggestions for updates:
-Add an option to have a notification if one hasn’t checked in for a number of days the user sets. I know this would help me intervene spells of constipation earlier
-Option to have laymen’s time i.e. non military time
-Option to require a PIN number or password to get into PCal
-Option to generate a report that can be emailed, exported some way to easily share data with one’s doctor

THANK YOU for a user friendly, simple way to track BM’s! IBS and other issues can have serious health and quality of life problems so this is a much needed app I’m grateful for.

Great!

I like PCal. It keeps track perfectly. It’s great for people on diets, who are sick, etc... I wish we had this when my kids were babies. I would have liked to be able to keep track of theirs so when the doctor would ask I would actually know the answer. The only thing is that it only gives you one choice as to what your bowel movement looks like. Sometimes you have a combination of more than one for whatever reason. So I’ve made note of this in the notes when I record it. Otherwise, it’s great!

Excellent App to ad for someone with multiple health concerns

This is a very simple app to use, even perhaps for the older people who need to track their lower GI issues.
It’s free! And doesn’t have any features that you need but have to pay extra for.
This is great for those while also have medication trackers etc seeing as I have not found one that includes tracking of lower GI issues.
My physicians find it very useful as well!

So far so good...

I like that there are graphs. PCal collects data on amount, color, consistency, & time of day collected. There are no ads & it tells you how long ago your last poo was. I also appreciate that you can make notes. My only negative is that if you write a note before marking the shape/consistency different than the default, you lose your note & need to rewrite it. Annoying- but I’m learning to copy my note & then paste when I’m done.

Doesn’t save all data

It “forgets” some entries. I wasn’t sure, but then I started using 3 trackers at once, and sure enough, today I went to make an entry and the other 2 showed yesterday’s entry but not this one had lost yesterday’s info. Too bad I’ve been using PCal for a few months- now all that data isn’t very meaningful, knowing what I confirmed today. Going to remove it from my phone now. Giving 2 stars not one because I like the graphics, and the calendar view. I hope the developers get this crucial and basic problem fixed.

Almost perfect!!

As someone with ulcerative colitis, I love PCal so much and which I knew about it before when my bowel movements were bad!

However, there’s one flaw that drives me crazy. I really wish we could see the “labels” we’ve added in the calendar view. It’s annoying that if I want to see the labels/notes, I have to click the entry, which automatically brings it into “edit”, then click as if I was going to enter a new label.

Simple, clean UI, easy to use

I have been using since 2018, and it has made me more conscious of my diet and activity level as both play an important role in healthy bowl movement.

I like the trend analysis very much.

It would be more awesome if it can have a customizable alert/reminder if the user has not ‘logged’ for a certain number of days (see what I did there)

Still Military Time Why?

That’s two updates now one saying they fixed serious bugs but they haven’t fixed military time yet! The new calendar is nice but I would have traded it for standard time. As for paying for premium I would only do that if they offered an Apple Watch app. I gave it four stars though, because I have tried similar apps but this is the best one for me so far, despite the military time, and none of the others have an Apple Watch app either.

Quick tracking

I like that this tracker is quick and easy to use. The options are simple to check and the date and time are preloaded for tracking in real time. If logging past events, the date and time can be changed.

My only complaint is about the words they use to describe the events. A 5-10 min BM is labeled as “normal.” Really? Also. When looking at the trends data, they categorize events into “Good” or “Bad” but offer no definitions as to what factors make up a good BM event.

⚠️Great app but...⚠️

I honestly love PCal. That being said, I’ve had 100+ hours of breaks in between my BM’s. It has been so important for me to track my progress. I tried to track at the most critical time and it didn’t save. I’m very upset that this happens often to me. It’s frustrating. I wish there was a feature where you could edit past days and put it the information that wasn’t saved or that you forgot to type in. Please make this possible!

Great BM tracker

I love PCal and use it daily so I can keep track of my bowel patterns as I struggle with IBS symptoms. I love all of the updates you have added.
One suggestion for update:
Add a way in which you can document days in which you needed to take bowel meds to produce a movement such as miralax, colace, dulcolax, etc so that you can see how consistently you are needing meds to produce a bowel movement and can give that information to your doctor.

Great stool app!

This year I started having upper and lower GI issues. It got to a point where I was was concerned and wanted to closely monitor my stool, as it can explain much about your gi health. PCal is a great way to record how you are really doing during your trips to the bathroom. There are a few things id like to see added, but it does the job overall!

Great Layout and Function, but No Features Available Without Paying

Sure would be nice to be able to save or export the data stored here over time. Unfortunately, none of the cool features (or any features at all, for that matter) are accessible via the free version of PCal. Now I will have to copy all of the information into a separate app that allows sharing and saving as a pdf. I guess I’ll have to let go of this one.

By

Love it!

PCal is so easy to use and has helped me to lose weight and stay on track.

I just don’t like how every time I open it it automatically thinks I’m adding dinner so I have to back out of the dinner scan to change it.

Other than that I have no complaints. And I did pay for the yearly subscription.

Nice and simple but update issue

I like how simple and easy to use this was, but after the update half my times are in military time and the order switched from oldest at the top to newest at the bottom so I have to scroll all the way down to view the newest record. I hope they fix this or ill have to try another app its just to glitched to make sense.

.... UPDATE the order changed back to newest at the top which is great but the time is still military time and Thats very frustrating

Extremely useful app to manage constipation

I have used PCal for over a year and found it very valuable to monitor my bowel movements in order to manage constipation. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is it cannot be included in the Apple Health app. I would strongly recommend it to be included in Apple Health.

Love it a lot

PCal has been very useful to track. Love the interface and the features. The only downside is there is no login or backup.

I lost all my previous information during I formatted my iPhone.

Suggestion:- Please add a login so we can save our data even if we delete PCal or format our phone. That’ll be extremely awesome.

former Stool Log user

I like that the times are easy to add, but I’m not too thrilled about the Military time. The only other thing I’d like to see is if I have notes in the log, is it too much to ask for an icon that indicates there is a note? Lastly, i need better looking statistics, ex. The color of the number on the darkest poo, is too dark to show up. Otherwise as far as tracking it doesn’t get any simpler than this! I do like PCal !

By

Extremely Simple

PCal gives those of us with digestive disorders a clear picture of how we’re doing. I love knowing exactly how long it’s been since my last movement as well as seeing my month at a glance. The level of detail is minimal, but that’s the point. If you want a detailed food/BM journal, do that. For me, I’m much more likely to consistently log every single event when it literally takes seconds to do so.

so easy to use and straightforward

Needing to track my stool for GI issues ive been having. on a new management plan now and my dr said to report my stools and habits- PCal is straightforward, easy to use and clear. It might be cool to have a meal feature added in so you know how long after you went and/or possible correlations with loose stool. Thanks for making this!

Convenient way to track your health

I was asked by my doctor to track my frequency since I thought I was quite constipated. Before finding PCal, I was using notepad and it’s manual. I was happy to find this since it’s much easier to use and track without typingtoo much. Thank you for offering this to the community!
