Cutesy idea, but developers should consult some women and a scientist... it said in 3rd week of pregnancy that the heart starts beating. Huh? You mean... in the 6-7th week? And it said something like the embryo is 5x the size of a shrimp at 4 weeks pregnant. That wouldn’t be until the 2nd trimester. I’m honestly not even sure that’s what they were trying to say because the sentence had so many structural issues I can only assume it was translated from another language to English. ***Worst part*** Also, speaks to an audience of women with male partners. In 2020, there are so many types of expectant parents from single moms to single sex male couples and everything in between. It also insisted at 4 weeks pregnant that I tell “the father” about the pregnancy. I actually felt like someone was wagging a finger at me that maybe I had told a friend before my partner. It was so weird. Not only is that going to be the likely first choice for most people with partners, it’s such a weird thing to even say. It’s a personal choice to share their news with literally whoever on earth they please. So, so bizarre. So clearly written by men.

The app was okay... although it always counted the gestational age wrong by one day. Let’s say I was 10 weeks, it would never say “10 weeks” it would always skip from “9 weeks 7 days” to “10 weeks 1 day.” It was always really buggy in that aspect. Which was fine because I enjoyed the daily updates. UNTIL now.. today my update said something along the lines of “if I’m a girl my ovaries are getting bigger and if I’m a boy my penis is getting longer ;)” WITH THE WINKY FACE AND ALL. I don’t know I just really find it odd how they said it and how they decided to throw in the winky face. Too many positive reviews of this app for the weird winky faces and odd descriptions. If I could give 0 stars I would, gave me the creeps.

I liked the simple format of this app versus others that I’ve seen but every single message has a comment about “dad” literally every single day. I understand that the typical family includes two parent families, but families are becoming more and more diverse with same-sex parents, and single montherhood. If I had the option to remove those comments, I may have considered keeping the app, but for a mom who is very excited to be having her own baby, despite it being a product of an abusive relationship, it’s very upsetting to be constantly reminded that someone is “missing” from the picture.
