Doesn’t start

Im giving this two stasrrs because of the nice startup screen. Unfortunately that’s what all I’ve seen of it so far. The screen comes up and there’s appropriate background sounds but nothing happens- if tappes, swioed, aind drugged every spot on the screen and I got nowhere. I waited an hour for FightingFantasyClassics to load but but it didn’t. It might be good, but I certainly wouldn’t know.

UI Needs Work

I managed to get the text large enough to play comfortably, but pictures cant be zoomed and that can be a big deal in parts of books.

Good app though, worth trying the first free book!

Slow Updates

The way the books feel in FightingFantasyClassics is pure nostalgia. They practically drip the 80’s. They are, in short, awesome. However, the updates are very slow. As of writing this, it has been over a year since the last update was made and the last books added. I don’t know if this means that these are all the books were going to get, or if things are just going slowly, but be aware of this. Either way, FightingFantasyClassics is worth getting.

More soundtrack options

I would like more soundtrack options. Maybe one that fits into bustling markets or cities would be good, or something with ocean sounds for seafaring portions. Overall though I’m loving FightingFantasyClassics!

Great Platform with A Flaw

A while ago I bought several of the game books when they were stand alone apps but there is no option to receive credit for these in FightingFantasyClassics. Seems like a slight oversight to me!

Great free adventure book

The free adventure book is a lot of fun. Unfortunately the free story doesn’t make use of adventure books’ nonlinear structure instead choosing to obfuscate the only viable linear path. I didn’t buy any of the other books. I recommend the free download, but I wouldn’t suggest paying for the others. Making use of the bookmarks feature will save a lot of repeats so I recommend using it.

Great resource

I love it. It streamlines and simplifies the process of playing these game books without sacrificing any of the original content or even illustrations.

My only complaint is that there simply aren’t enough books to choose from. I’m not saying they should have all 60+ titles available right off the bat but for ages now there’s been a grand total of... 10. Just give us more books to read!!

Great series of game books

I played all of these in the 80’s and early 90’s. It’s a nostalgic blast to get to go back and play these all over again. FightingFantasyClassics is great in that it collects them all in one place so you have a library of classic game books at your fingertips.

Great entry into game books

I absolutely love FightingFantasyClassics! The books are all well priced and work really well and smoothly with the built in dice roller

Fighting fantasy is back

I loved these books as a kid and wished I had held on to them. Now they are back and better than ever with a mapping system, bookmarks, and dice combat system. Totally worth it. My only wish is for the Talisman of Death to be available.

Great game

Just found this today. While I never played these series when I was a kid I did read a lot of Lone Wolf.

Question to developer, are the rest of the books going to be made available?

At first glance

I realize that Death Trap Dungeon is one of the most creative and immersive “choose your path”role-playing games that focuses on text driven adventure. Once I realized the intricacies of how this game works, I realized that this is a game that I can enjoy for a long period of time and still be able to keep in my library for a future years. I tried the video adventure of Death Trap Dungeon, which is what hooked me into this game series. It is very evident that there is a lot of depth in this storyline and that it is worth looking into for anyone who likes classic DND

Fun and Frustrating Fantasy

Great fun, well-written adventures, but boy can it be frustrating at times. It’s a guessing game until you memorize the correct path...or google it. Use the bookmarks my friends...I wasn’t for 90% of my playthroughs of “BloodBones” and I regret it. So much easier with the bookmarks.

Excellent transition

If you've grown up in the 80's with this series and you don't have the books anymore, this will be a no brainer. Even if you have the books, the transition to FightingFantasyClassics is flawless with added benefits. The ease of the adventure sheet digitally rendered is great. The combat system is enhanced with the re-roll ability and bookmarking is great too.
I really hope the developers are able to add more titles (and maybe even the Sorcery set.

This is awesome

This is a wonderful implementation of a classic format, the adventure book. Growing up I ran an alternative series of titles rather than fighting fantasy, so this is my first opportunity to encounter these. They are wonderful, with excellent implementation. Before warned, all the books actually quite challenging, but that is part of the fun.

GREAT ROLE-PLAYING APP!!!

Growing up, I was a big fan of the original Fighting Fantasy series. This brought back a lot of memories, and I can’t wait to introduce it to my son. Love that it’s true to the original text and illustrations, and the added music is a nice touch. Hoping more of the series is added soon, especially “Scorpion Swamp” and “Starship Traveller.”

Awesome!

Love having an app that has all the books in one place. Interface is smooth and user friendly. Also very easy to save your place so you can come right back if you made a bad turn. Really enjoying reliving these books from my youth. Any chance the Lone Wolf Book series could be incorporated into this in the future?

Good Old School Fun

For the pen and paper fan who needs a little fix on a plane ride or train. I have this on PC too and it’s better with the music up and larger screen space. I was born too late into the 80’s to have experienced this myself but am a player of many tabletops and pen/paper games and this is plain good fun. The art is awesome.

A great way to enjoy these classics

The interface makes playing these games a joy. They could be a bit of a chore to play back in the day with pen and paper. My only hope is that some day the remaining books are added as they’re mostly out of print and very difficult to find at reasonable prices!

Childhood nostalgia

I grew up on these books. Being able to play them on mobile is a blast of nostalgia. And the extra features like maps and collectible artwork are a great extra touch.
