Hello, have sky safari 7 pro and skyportal. When i search for many common objects SkyPortal doesn't have them, but sky safari does. This is really annoying. I ise skyportal with my Celestron telescope, how can i update skyportals database to include what it should have?

How do I cancel Sky Safari subscription when I can't remember what email I used nor my password or username? Please email me on how to do so. I believe my subscription is due in September. Thank you David Dezman

Practically useless on my iPhone 8 using IOS 14.1

I’m not an astronomer. One of the main reasons I got this app was to LEARN, and the fact the phone would automatically adjust what was shown on the screen as I moved it around was a big selling point. My phone will not do this basic function. I have location services on (system does show correct location), but whether I have compass on or AR running (as shown by the blank compass and little “AR” on the screen), my phone screen is static, no matter where I point it. I can manually move the screen around, but that’s pointless because I don’t know what the heck I’m pointing at. Selecting an object on the phone is useless because I don’t know if there’s any correlation between the real world and what I’m selecting on the app. It’s been this way since I downloaded this piece of junk. This is my first attempt to get it fixed; if the developers can get it working I’ll update my review.

A little disappointing

My initial reaction was a little disappointed. The app returns to wherever I last looked. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to get back to the sky overhead at today’s date and time. Would be nice to have something to center on the current zenith. Also when I used the search feature the app did not have many of the objects I would have expected to be included. Many of the popular nebulae are missing. For example the horse head nebula. I tried searching for the common name and the official designation. The add-in purchase of cosmos does not appear to add those objects. If it did, I would probably purchase the add-in. Overall, I was disappointed. I have several other astronomy apps installed and this one is slightly different but at first experience, does not seem to be any better than the others. I do not own a telescope that supports “control”, so sky safari pro is not an appropriate purchase.

User Error?

2022-05-13

by Cmeyn

I tried this app for the first time tonight and found it didn’t line up as accurately as I would have liked. I tried using Venus as a visual reference point however when I used the app overlay the apps location for Venus was different than the actual location. I could actually see both images (the real one and and labeled app one) about an inch apart. The same thing with Mars. Is this user error or app error. Over all first impression is meh but that could change if I learn if I screwed it up vs app error.
