From start to finish. It’s been so interesting to go from early emergence to now at 88 decibels! And still a little way left to go. Can’t thank my friend enough for convincing me to try it. He was 100% correct, it’s a very handy and accurate tool for so many applications ! Just can’t sY enough good things about it- and it’s FREE! Top that!!

I got DecibelMeterSoundDetector because some new appliances seemed to be running much louder than advertised. Now I have numbers to back up my impressions and can go back to the manufacturer with something concrete. To be honest, I’m not sure what I got with the upgrade to Premium, but $1.99 is a small price to pay to experiment. In the meantime I’m getting useful data with the tap of a finger. A much better investment than the appliances.

Works really well. I use it to know if my baby’s white noise sound machine is too loud for her. While sleep training or different times in the day I’ll turn it up louder, but I want to make sure the sound is in a safe level for her. DecibelMeterSoundDetector definitely puts me at ease, knowing I’m not blasting her ears. I just hold my phone where her head is in the crib and read the level. Easy and reassuring!

This is by far the best decibel meter I have ever seen. The amazing graphic design, the precise visual indicators, the accurate audio measurements have blown me away.
Little descriptions of decibel ranges, average and max statistics, beautiful fluctuating graphs, and the ability to analyze the data you've been collecting only further confirms the fact that this visually appealing, sensitive but exact app would be perfect from academic purposes to industrial environments.

Updated review (formally one star due to difficulty getting support from vendor, combined with Apple’s customer AI severely lacking in actually helping customer).

Developer did eventually contact me, resolved ALL my issues, and even followed up to check on if things were still fine. AND DecibelMeterSoundDetector works great. I am a very happy customer now.

I use DecibelMeterSoundDetector frequently to set volume levels for my live shows. I also use it all the time to test guitar and amplifier adjustments. It works better than the decibel meter that I bought and use to use a lot. Every musician needs DecibelMeterSoundDetector.

This needs an alarm option for when decibels reach a selected level. The threshold options doesn’t seem to do anything and I can’t find it called out anywhere in the about section. What does threshold do? No changes occur to UI, no behavior changes happen no matter what I set the threshold to. Would be nice if threshold was used to set an audible sound if the threshold is reached.

The developer contacted me after my first negative review. I explained the bug and he fixed it. Works great now, can record forever! :)

I upgraded to remove the time limit so I could record data on the time of noise disturbances while I slept. The time limit is not removed, it is *increased* and it appears that 1hr is the limit with premium. They should write that this is the limit. As currently designed DecibelMeterSoundDetector is useless for those who want to to get data while they sleep. Wast of money for me.

This apps works very well. I tried several apps and didn’t like them but this one has a nice interface and the maximum and average is a bonus.

Most of us probably don’t think too much about the ambient sounds around us. DecibelMeterSoundDetector is really easy to use and quickly determines the noise level in your immediate area as measured in decibels (as named by Alexander graham bell). No complaints here.

Similar to many other dB meter apps, so it gets the same review:
Literally when your measurement reads 75 dB on DecibelMeterSoundDetector, indicating a “potential hazard,” while in a quiet gentle breeze that I can fall asleep to, there is something seriously wrong with DecibelMeterSoundDetector. It is by far the norm with these free dB meter apps, which leads me to think that access to your phone is the objective and not really to provide you with even a semi-accurate reading. I WOULDNT BOTHER DOWNLOADING IT! 😡

I haven't tested it in a quiet room with a professional setup and calibration. But thats not what I wanted it for. I just needed something close, clean interface and was most of all ad free. It checked all those boxes so it was a good $2 spend.

I want to sports facility and I rent space for events. Some of the events have music which can get a bit loud the decibel meter allows me to have a concrete number I tell them they can limit it to instead of just saying not to loud.

Simple and straight to the point, all you need is to turn your microphone or your phone mic and it will automatically detect how loud something is based on your device sound capture.

Wanted a baseline decibel reading for my home office before I bought a new video card. The room averages 40db and the card I’m looking at averages 30db. Now I can buy it without any doubt that I won’t notice the card’s fans. Thanks!

The display is bold and clear. And response is instant with accurate measurements this is an ideal tool to give me an idea is the level of noise pollution around me. Now you know why you’re feeling unease.

This is a gimmick after reading all the reviews I found a couple negatives so I took a chance DecibelMeterSoundDetector is a joke I’m sitting in my bedroom with the fan on and it’s reading 85 DB clearly this is not accurate something is up just like all the other Db apps this one is the same. Tread lightly as there is no reason to download this have anything I’d be more concerned with the security of my phone and the contents that have now been released!

DecibelMeterSoundDetector is quite simply spectacular. It has veritably changed my life forever for the better. It is, without a doubt, the single greatest application I have ever had the privilege to set my humble eyes on. Incredible!

I cannot attest to the accuracy but I give DecibelMeterSoundDetector high points for its clean user interface and for not looking like the Vegas strip. A few suggestions:

(1) Would be very useful if it adjusted to a landscape view when the phone is tilted. In my office I would like to set my phone on its side. This seems like a no brainer.

(2) The Reset High dialog box is jarring because it clashes so much with the UI. I suggest that a press and hold be an option to perform a reset OR just add another button... though a double tap on the Stop/Play button does the trick.

Wanted simple device for noting dishwasher noise. Bedding up using it to, also, measure the cacaphony created by cicadas on the patio. Works perfectly and appears quite accurate.

not to mention easy to use; DecibelMeterSoundDetector has come in handy many times, especially when I had to prove to the police that my bike did not exceed California’s dB limit.

Overall decent sound level app.

The “Analyze” feature is a bit broken. It always shows just one recording in the list. I don’t know how to make it create a new, separate recording.

The Analyze feature has a backwards time axis. The far left is the most recent time and the past extends to the right. Recording start time should be at zero, then extend right as time passes.

Needs to be calibrated against professional equipment for absolute accuracy, but that will be the case with any such app. At least you can easily dial in your own calibration amounts.

Honestly DecibelMeterSoundDetector is great it is so easy to use and it very accurate. I've had many decibel meter apps and have never been as satisfied as I am with DecibelMeterSoundDetector👏

This one works and doesn't require a subscription. Displays current and max noise level.

Wish it had the ability to capture the date and time of the recordings and also store the recordings on DecibelMeterSoundDetector . I need it for evidence in a court case.

Very helpful when buying a new air conditioner. First one I had to return, it was so loud! Second one was perfect and DecibelMeterSoundDetector registers both decibals properly.

With the escalating noise levels of the societal sphere, both public and industrial, I’m surprised I lived without this device for so long. It is now an essential element in my regimen.
