The worst app on the App Store

2023-11-11

Amongst all the apps that exist on HTTPBot Store, this app is the worst of them all. It looks deceptively beautiful on the outside. It looks like precisely what you need. But on the inside, it is the largest mess that you could ever imagine. The integration with Shortcuts doesn’t work at all. Variables don’t work at all. You will waste hours of frustration on HTTPBot and will have nothing at all to show for it. Absolutely nothing whatsoever is documented. The dev ignores every email he is sent. I’m surprised Apple hasn’t delisted it yet.

Helpful but buggy

2023-10-25

HTTPBot is really helpful for developers seeking to understand public APIs or test their own. Unfortunately significant bugs undermine the value of the Pro upgrade.

Selecting the response filter icon causes HTTPBot to consistently crash on my iPhone XR, so I cannot inspect JSON files.

The web inspector does work (and provides very interesting information) but once you navigate to a web page, it’s not clear how to return to other features of HTTPBot , so you have to kill it and restart.

The free version of HTTPBot is very useful, but the Pro version is currently too buggy to recommend.

Useful but needs support for uncoding URLs

2024-07-06

I use a URL which includes space and semicolon characters to delimit parameters. These need to be encoded as %20 and %3b respectively. If I enter a string I can type these % sequences manually; this is tedious but it works - the first time. But then I “save” the escaped URL and my escaped characters revert back to space and semicolon. In this condition the URL no longer works (rejected by the server). Would be good if HTTPBot had an option to perform the escaping and it should preserve the escaping during a ‘save’

Bought this to work with Postman, but the whole postman relating section just keep crashing

2024-07-06

I it did let me login my Postman account but whenever I tried to import my collection from Postman HTTPBot just crashed and quit by itself. HTTPBot is now at its’ newest version so I’d try if updating my iPad os to a higher version would work or not

Nice functionality but the documentation is poor

2024-07-06

Almost impossible to find what ‘variable’ parameter means when running this app through iOS shortcuts. Documentation in app or on website is non-existent (not as in there’s very little documentation, but as in there’s literally zero documentation pages nor sections). Googling does not help. Support and user community is small. Finally, even on their website where they say environmental variables can be saved (maybe a hint at what variables might mean), there’s no clear way to do that in the iOS app.

Good but later slowing down

2024-04-10

I have used it for more than an year, and worked well, but slowly started caching almost 1+ GB of data (not sure why) and eventually going slow. Some basic features are yet to be fixed.

Great tool, needs some work

2024-05-24

I’ve worked with various http clients over time but I’ve loved the experience and streamlined interface as well as the sync across Mac, iPad and iPhone. My one grievance is the amount of bugs on the platform. Especially on Mac. The bugs and crashes make it hard to store global settings and make it my go to http client. Great idea, great design, still needs some refining.

Great app!

2024-04-25

One minor complaint, it seems like it doesn’t refresh the nonce when following redirects.
The full version also seems overpriced.

Great App

2024-11-04

Been finding things to allow me to do my job from my iPad Pro and this has been great. 5 stars if it would run tests like in Postman. I use those to extract values to update environment variables to use in other calls. Have to copy/paste for now, but that would make this perfect!

Handy tool

2024-06-15

Overall a handy tool few issues and bugs to be worked out, overall a great product. It would be good if it is easier to navigate, env variables should have it’s own tab would be helpful.

It’s like Postman!

2024-08-29

Great app! It’s like Postman for iOS! :) Only minor request we have is to change the “cancel” button to “save” or “done” when editing a request. It’s scary to click on “cancel”, because we think that we’re going to delete all of our hard work.

Amazing app

2024-07-20

Exactly what I needed.

Could you please speed up the animations though? Great at first but they get kind of old once you've been using HTTPBot for a while. Maybe like 0.25s?

Exactly what I needed, better than I expected

2024-09-23

HTTPBot does exactly what anyone could want from an HTTP client and more. I love being able to favorite, easily copy response to clipboard and add parameters and headers easily. Love it! Thank you!

Need Postman on the go?

2024-07-20

Probably the best option on mobile for a REST client. One of the better features is the option to import your collection too and has been a good time-saver.

UPDATE: Perfect

2024-07-24

NEW REVIEW:
It just works. I had a newbie problem of my own and sent a https request to the test server which only had http.

OLD REVIEW: What use is a HTTP request application if it does not show you the returned object right away. I’m always getting response 200 OK and a blank screen when sending a get request to my own working API.

Perfect! (Was Update killed features)

2024-10-04

I have to say not only is HTTPBot now perfect, but the developer is really on top of his game! As you can see from my previous reviews below, there were some bugs introduced in an update. Not only did the dev respond to my review, but all the issues were rapidly resolved!

Love HTTPBot and dev!

Old review:
Thanks for the response! I have found another bug that is the cause of most of my issues. If the name of a request is over a certain length the 3 dot menu to rename, export to curl, etc are no longer visible! The problem is that when creating a new request the default name is “Untitled Request” which is already too long and the 3 dot menu is hidden.

Please let me know if you can replicate! iPhone X here!

Upgraded to 3 stars as I know you’re working on it. Will bump up as appropriate when fixes are in!

The below is my original review for reference. Will remove this and update further as things are fixed:
Latest update killed some basic functionality and features. No longer can edit the name of a request? Even creating a new request I see no way to edit the name.

Killed the import and export as curl feature? This was a very nice feature and one of the main reasons I paid for HTTPBot.

Also with the new request/response tabs at the bottom there is no “Done” button on the response tab. You have to navigate back to the request to hit Done. This is a big annoyance.

Please bring back these basics!

Like Postman for iOS

2024-07-24

Great app that is very similar to the Postman app for MacOS/Windows/Linux. Very easy to add headers and authentication and the requests are easy to read. Great app!

A few of the functions are not as intuitive as they could be, such as adding a request to a collection. Also, there is not an obvious way to name a request in a collection, so all the requests show “Untitled Request”.

Great http client

2024-06-19

I’m a Software engineer and I use HTTPBot for over one year now, and it do the job as expected

One thing is being delayed is “Postman sync” and it’s been over one year and didn’t arrive yet 👀

Surprisingly handy dev tool

2024-07-24

This is a sweet little app. If you've used postman before, you'll be right at home. Some nice touches, including prompts for common header types and values, auto formatting the response body, and a handy button for a quick "request retry". Well done!

Very handy

2024-07-20

You may not need it often, but the moment you need to make API calls while out shopping, you’ll be very glad you’ve got HTTPBot.

Tremendously Easy

2024-07-20

For a free app, I’m so glad to see something with the ease of use comparable to PostMan on a desktop machine. Now, it does only have a handful of the request verbs (and not PATCH and so forth) but for what I paid for, it more than gets the job done.

Almost Perfect

2024-07-24

Been wanting something like this for a while so silly me for not searching sooner. Very capable app and almost feature complete. I would love to see a Passcode/FaceID/TouchID option so that I could comfortably add access tokens as variables. I’m the only user of my device but I’d just like to have that extra layer of protection.

Exactly what I needed!

2025-09-16

Made troubleshooting a web site’s api calls super easy on mobile. Like having browser dev tools and postman in one. Great job on a very useful tool!

Great for a dev on the go or if you just want to keep up on data from an API

2025-02-24

Includes filtering and more.
Like curl xxx | jsonpp on your phone!

Love HTTPBot.

Same feel and usability as postman.

2025-03-28

If you have used postman you will right at home. Plus you can import your postman collections. Great tool. Dev mentions that postman pro support is coming soon.
