Love The Engineering!!

Everything is so fun to do and create. The multiple things to learn and make are great for children. I use it everyday and the quality has never wavered. I have never had a problem with LEGO . It was great in every way. I very much recommend it to parents who have children with the love of legos. It’s a great app with many possibilities and new idea to explore every day. New concepts of coding and engineering are learned every time you use it. It’s a wonderful way to use up your time!

App does not work

We got this app boost for our son’s birthday and a month later still not able to play with it. He started building vernie and got stuck trying to connect to LEGO with Bluetooth. LEGO keeps asking us to wait indefinitely. We called the this app customer service they told us that they are aware of the problem and that it is being fixed so that we should wait for a week or so until a new release of LEGO is available and reinstall. Two weeks later still nothing , not a great birthday present so far, can somebody help??
=== UPDATE ====
got help from tech support and it’s worked (thanks :-)) briefly:
-use the this app powered up app to reinstall the firmware
-connector to this app boost app again

Our six year old enjoying

Our six year old is really enjoying the this app Boost set and building like never before. We don’t own a tablet so he is doing Everything on an iPhone just fine and we are all the way through the cowboy stage. The way it builds in stages and expands functionality really works. Have not gotten through all the builds or programming yet but it asked for a rating. I would say I am really impressed so far. One disappointment is that I don’t see a simple intuitive help for individual programming blocks. I figure if you select a block maybe it should offer help to describe the blocks functionality.

Hub error

So I finished the first section for boost, I built the head and torso and I don’t need to connect it to do the first section either. I go to the next section and it tells me to press the hub button so I put in charged batteries and press the button… it says please wait. Then it says to update firmware…ok? I press the button update firmware on the iPad and it looks like it will take hours to update. but then the hub disconnects from the iPad and I have to re-connect and press update firmware again. It’s and endless cycle. If this is an app error, please fix. If not, please tell me what to do. Cause it’s really stressing me out that I got a 100$ this app set and I can’t even finish it without connecting it and updating it…. Which I obviously can’t do.

Blue tooth connection issue

App is not compatible with the hub firmware, had trouble connecting to hub. Followed instructions from another review: download this app power up app, enter coding mode, there you can try to connect Bluetooth, that will update the firmware. Once connected with this app power up, go to this app boost and retry Bluetooth connection.

Pieces in bag

I got this toy for Christmas which I was really happy about, but one thing that kind of irritates me, is the fact there are numbers in the bags, and the doesn’t tell us which number bag to open first, I am still currently working on it, but it is really hard, I open a bag and can’t find a piece that is in the instructions, so I have to look for one piece, so I have to search every bag, and that takes a while, and I am only in step 1 and I have to open bag 8 for one piece, so please add the number bag you need to use for each step, and it would make it way easier.

It used to work great...

The this app Boost app used to work great on my 4th gen iPad (MD514LL/A) running iOS 10.3.3, which is a supported device according to the this app website. However, ever since the update to version 1.6.3 of LEGO , it crashes every time upon trying to open it. I tried deleting and reinstalling LEGO , and even did a complete factory reset on the iPad itself, but LEGO still crashes every time.

The this app Boost Creative Toolbox itself is a wonderful set, my kids love it, and fortunately we have another device that they can operate it with. But, if you are considering purchasing the set to use with a 4th gen iPad, I recommend downloading LEGO first to make sure that it works.

Horrible app for the price we paid for LEGO set

LEGO has not worked well at all. Every time my child gets through a section of building LEGO either does not store where he left off and locks the level again or it brings up a settings box (but not the primary settings box for app-which is empty) that will not go away. When you try to close out the settings the last check mark takes you to the webpage and will not close to continue to next section. We paid a lot of money for the robot set, which did not come with paper instructions as a back up. LEGO needs to be functional.

Instability caused by “bug fix” updates

The latest update to LEGO made it completely unusable. There is now a huge gray option screen every time you attempt to do any of the coding. It prevents you from actually controlling your creations. There are other reviews with this same exact issue described. Reinstalling LEGO doesn’t work as the developers propose. This happens on a 10.2” iPad and 2 iPhone XRs.
It’s a shame that this app doesn’t have more refined software development lifecycle processes in place, because their manufacturing is out of this world. I’d love to see the same level of quality when it comes to digital this app products.

App is confusing

We got Vernie so our six year old could start learning coding fundamentals. Unfortunately our four year old keeps breaking Vernie, which would be fine if we knew how to reassemble. Because there are no books, we have to use LEGO directions to rebuild. However, LEGO is so confusing to use that we can never find the directions. And when Vernie is rebuilt, we can hardly understand the various icon selections in LEGO and what they do. I wish there were words we could click on or simple directions. In my opinion it is not user friendly, and for that reason we simply don’t play with Vernie anymore. $160 toy we don’t use.

Hopefully things will turn around

My son and I love this app’s. We build all the time. I have spent well over an hour trying to get the instructions to build the robot back. It crashed my new phone. He was looking at it before he built the robot. Now he is on the verge of tears because the instructions are gone. This is too much money for how frustrating the experience has been. We unloaded LEGO and hopefully we can get the instructions back. If not it is a poor design on the creators part. There should at least be warnings you will lose instructions!! Instead of a fun gift this has been like a punishment!

Great for kids but...

In theory, this is a great app for kids who love this app and have a creative imagination. It allows for basic coding that will keep a kid’s interest for a long time.

That said, if you ever encounter an issue with LEGO , it’s very difficult to problem solve on your own, and this app’s website is not great with information about LEGO .

Rating 3 stars because when working, it’s a great app, but when something goes wrong, it can be a very frustrating app.

Confusing and constrained app

This is almost a great product but the confusing constrained app and website hold it back. You can’t view instructions without unlocking levels like some kind of game; you have to find sketchy third party PDFs online because this app wants you go to through a clunky undocumented “experience”. You can’t experiment with blocks without connecting to Bluetooth every time. LEGO doesn’t seem like it trusts its customers!!

it’s frustrating and confusing.

with all that said the hardware is great and the block based programming is cool. Sigh.

Please help my daughter

When recently when we were doing the add-ons to Vernie, The game started glitching. It said please attach ________ to the robot, but it was already attached! I started pressing really hard on them… but still nothing! I tried swapping them… still nothing! Then I deleted LEGO and downloaded it again…but still nothing! Then I even rebuilt it,… but this time it just showed the gray box with nothing on it. Please help!!!

I’m 17 years old and enjoy this app

I have to say that this is quite an enjoyable little app. Frankie the cat makes my real cats go crazy lol. I just have one suggestion: I’ve had to delete LEGO a couple times to free up space and when I reinstall LEGO I have to go through the tutorials and everything all over again and it gets kinda annoying. Please add an option to skip tutorials?

This is awesome!

Everything is awesome!
Got it for my son’s birthday. He has been playing with the robot with LEGO for hours (no joke). He has been going through and equipping everything he can. He has had the robot tell jokes, shoot at targets, everything. While the whole thing is expensive, it is worth it.

Even More Fun Than Expected!

The entire experience from unboxing to building and programming phases along the way has been a joy. This is the perfect introduction to coding and a fun building partner experience that can provide endless hours of fun beyond the build. Enjoy!

Hopefully this app will continue to develop more sets and activities for the Boost line!

Very good overall.

Overall, very good and kid intuitive. If we leave a build in the middle, sometimes have to go through other steps to get back to what build step we were on. Also, if we go forward in the build and end up in the programming section, it's tricky to get back to the building step we were on. Otherwise, very good app/toy.

Epic! But just one thing... And a suggestion

So overall me and my brother LOVE this! (I built Frankie and my brother built Vernie) LEGO doesn’t lag and much more that we are proud about!

But... My brother accidentally broke the head of his Vernie ;-; But LEGO won’t let us go back... Luckily it was the hour after we built the head, so I remembered. But it won’t let us go back... so yea...

My suggestion is, maybe you can make it so they can interact? Because we want to interact with what we built... So we use two devices. But can you make it so they can interact using one device?

Thank you

Great toy but...

Okay, I got to admit this is a pretty darn cool toy but...When I was assembling it you start with bag one and then you open all of them because the frikin 2nd bag doesn't have all the pieces! You open one after the other and before you know it BOOM! All the bags are gone. You think it's no big deal but it is you can't find pieces very easily. So, please get this fixed and tell us at the beginning that your going to be opening ALL the bags.

Love it but...

This is the best for my child, it cost a lot but worth it. I understand the controls are like “coding” but my child has problems with it. He is the kid that would rather have a joy stick and some buttons. Maybe Introduce a new interface that is more like joystick and buttons.
