I enjoy the challenge of finding the words in the letters, particularly without a time challenge so I can come and go at my pace. I didn’t know how long I would stay with it, but the more I play it the more I enjoy it, and it’s fun having gotten far enough that I’m solving puzzles that less than 1% of players get to.
Hints are helpful! I have needed them to know where to start unscrambling. For a long time, out of pride and truculence, I resisted paying for hints and just played using a word-unscrambler app. After a while, though, that felt like too much help, and I wanted to look for the word myself.
I have two quibbles. One, there are a lot of words they don’t use that they could use, that are more interesting than the common words that are allowed. Sometimes when I can’t see the common words because I’ve been at it too long, that’s frustrating and annoying. Some small words seem to show up all the time, so they can get boring. On the other hand, it does tend to push one toward developing patience….
The other is that the words of encouragement that come up when you finish a puzzle are pretty limited! I expected more variety and more interesting unusual words. One early on one was misspelled — that was pretty funny for a word-based app.
So all in all, if you like words, this is a pretty engrossing game, and when the dumb ads come on, you can just put the phone down!
