Amazing but lost all pro features after upgrading to pro

I upgraded to a monthly subscription, unlocked the pro features (aperture control, 3D lighting, etc.) and these worked, for about a half hour; when I tried Phocus again, these features had disappeared, and Phocus had reverted to its standard, unpaid features. Contacted support, they could not help me (I could not find anything on Phocus or in Phocus Store to “restore the purchase”, which made no sense to begin with-I’d just purchased it), I deleted and reinstalled Phocus (and restored the purchase after this), restarted the phone several times, and swore several times loudly. No luck. Still waiting for someone to respond to me (sent screenshots to support, no response after that).

Worth a solid 5 Stars

An Outstanding AI Portrait and Macro Camera for the IPhone. It has clearly established itself as the front runner in this iOS camera apps.

I got n internal server error when submitting a support request

I was trying to report a series of random crashes. I composed a lenthy report and all for naught.

Recommend

I really like Phocus, I have only one problem with it and two suggestions. First problem is that it does not always auto focus on the right image, which is easy to adjust, but for convenience hopefully that can be fixed. My second suggestion is making Phocus sort of like an alternate camera, one which allows users to see the depth effect in action like the regular portrait mode camera is, face detection maybe? Overall it’s a great app and I would definitely recommend.

Paid app now requires subscription

There’s a lousy trend with app publishers putting features behind pay/subscription walls. That’s their prerogative - However when I already paid money for Phocus I should not have to shell out new money for features I already shelled out money for. If anything, the developer should recognize customers who were early loyalists and perhaps allow them to be grandfathered into any new monetized requirements. At the very least, they shouldn’t have to pay for features they already paid for.
This is a good app, but I’m not supporting a developer who doesn’t appreciate early adopters...and the money they spent.

Good app

I've been wanting to try Phocus for awhile works great and easy to use

Sometimes doesn't separate the background from me but it can easily be fixed.

great idea would be to change the bokeh shapes / effects
Like: stars ,oval, hexagon but make it look realistic meaning no bright colors just a clear transparency like real bokeh

Also wish I could use another brush that lets only 25-50% of the effects of bokeh take effect to make it to make the transition flow smoothly
(This of course will be unable in the mono/black and white) that solely focuses on the person only while the other lighting is not

These are some ideas for you to use Haven't seen apps that could do that yet for portrait photos.

Yeah there's apps to add fake bokeh that you can use but it's big and looks awful.

Great features but...

Phocus is great, especially for people who have the iPhone Xr and don’t have Stage Lighting on their back camera.

The biggest drawback to this program is that there is no option to purchase Phocus outright. I don’t want to pay for a subscription. I want to buy Phocus and be done. Until this happens I will be looking for an alternative. That said, if an there was an option to purchase Phocus at a reasonable price, I would buy it.

Makes your phone current

I wanted to trade my iPhone SE so that I could have the camera features of a 7 Plus and newer, but Phocus truly does exactly what the XS does. Just as good too. So, I decided to upgrade to an iPhone 8. The camera is already good. Phocus makes the phone as any XS or XS Max. It’s all about software!!!

What happened?

I loved Phocus, the blur effect for background used to be really smooth. Now all of the sudden with the update the blur is very heavy and when I slide the blur amount down it doesn’t change much at all and at the lowest numbers the blur is pixelated! I hope it can be fixed or go back to what it was otherwise I’ll have to find something else to use. Bummer because Phocus is great at background detection.

Needs more work

Phocus is getting greater after each update however I’m still waiting for an option to detect edges automatically to help detecting the object we want to focus on easily. I hope we will receive this option in the next update because it exists in some apps over two years.

Save the $4

The bokeh works, but is inaccurate the majority of the time, specifically on hair and clothes near the neckline.

Also, this is not a real-time camera app for the $4 fee. There’s an additional in-app subscription model for using this bokeh in real-time. Quite disappointing and expensive.

Lastly, the photos appear to save in low resolution. I don’t see a way to adjust this. Not good. There are other apps that provide better edge detection with subscription. Save the $4. I do not recommend.

THE APPLICATION IS FIXED AND WORKING PERFECT

After a long battle and more than a few emails to apple store and developers. The application was fixed and now is working perfect for me.
Thank you.

Was happy using this app but now it’s like any other app

I used to make my pictures and everything on Phocus, was so happy to find it, but now you’re focusing like everyone else in the paid version and put watermarks and other things that makes me find my way in another application, and even was thinking to buy it but the last update, I decided not to. Try to be different, like the beginning of Phocus.

The app glitches

I paid and bought and waisted my money for Phocus it glitches and throws me out half away done my Photos is so annoying totally waist of money it could be a good app if wasn’t glitching constantly also there is not much u can do even with the monthly version I tried that too is the same you can only do one thing with it and not a lot of options definitely is not worth the money I am going to call apple to see if I can get my money back

Bad

a good application, the bad thing is that it is paid and part of it has to be paid for other functions, they should also improve in the section part since they are not very intuitive controls and a little confusing to use, I really think that your application has potential but they should stop putting purchases into an application that is already paid

By

GARBAGE - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Not only did I have to pay for a garbage app that does exactly what other free apps do, but it then snuck in more purchases for monthly purchases to unlock features I was expecting to receive by paying for Phocus . I am very disappointed. I found a different app on the AppStore that was also a paid app and did so much more and had no additional purchases. What a waste of my money. Phocus creator is a money hungry scum bag.

Unable to save picture

When you save the picture after updating, it is always added in the state.

Preetty good

Sometimes my iPhone X to snap properly To the job or I need to do it after the fact so I’m grateful for Phocus. It still needs a bit of tweaking and for some reason on some of my shots it crashes. I’m hoping it gets better soon

Doesn’t render

I really wanted to love Phocus and am in day one of the trial but when rendering the burred background so it gets stuck about three quarters in and stays there. I’ve waited a few hours for a 3 minute video. Perhaps I’m impatient but it feels like this is a very long time to wait. Using a brand new 13 pro max. Am I doing something wrong or is it broken?

Easy editing for great effect

Does a good job of automatically adding blur effect, with an intuitive editing process to control the final result.

Good but..

Phocus is good, but it need to work in the minimal details because when I use the portrait mode and there is presence of grass, I can not focus on an object because some edges appear part of the grass without the portrait effect. It has also happened to me in other occasions, please fix those minimal details.
