Fun game but…

Really great framework here but… the AI is WAY to easy, even for a beginner with little to no strategy… alternatively there is no way to keep PAID players out of online games. Paid players start the game with extreme advantages that they purchased rather than strategy they implement. The free characters are extremely unbalanced and become dull quickly even playing people you know. Just my opinion, the game costs are prohibitively too high or involve a monthly charge. So we are ready to delete the game.

Suggestions: Offer a couple paid characters free after you have played a certain number of games or something. Reasonable pricing would be $9 to purchase all characters forever not a monthly fee or $0.99 per each individual character. Make free characters more balanced. Create an ability to exclude paid player or only play against paid players or play against like ranked players.

With updates I would jump back in as the game has great potential.

Microtransaction heaven

I understand the devs need money to keep this on 270TwoSeventyUSElection store, apple aint cheap, but in this they’ve ruined any sort of playability in multiplayer. Buying debates adds 500k funds, which is double the starting money at 250k. That 99 cent upgrade gives you a huge head start, and that’s not even when you factor in vice presidents. Normally you can only play as a president, but you can buy vice presidents (individually, you don’t unlock all of them) to add to your stats. This leads to crazy combos like Reagan and Benjamin Franklin that are so much more profitable than just a president. People who buy upgrades make more than four times the amount of money free players do. The only way to have fun is to pass and play or play against AI. That’s if you can even get the game to load. It’s broken on steam and if you uninstall and reinstall 270TwoSeventyUSElection it won’t launch anymore. Frankly I’m being generous by giving it two stars.

Very fun game with deceptive and obnoxious micro transactions.

This game is actually incredibly fun; it would be five stars if the microtransactions weren’t so overpriced and deceptive. The best example of this is the Vice President slot: I bought a vp slot expecting to be able to run with a VP for any candidate. Spoiler alert: You have to pay to have a VP for EVERY INDIVIDUAL CHARACTER. As far as I’m aware, there is no description in-game specifying this, making the Vice President feature a borderline scam. There’s of course the fact that every candidate costs four dollars, which is incredibly expensive for a glorified stat change; the only thing these examples have done is left a bad taste in my mouth, and it makes me not want to touch this game. Which is a shame, as this game is addicting and surprisingly very good. My suggestions are to lower the price of the candidates and to provide more detail on what each purchase entails, with emphasis on the VP and Primaries (as far as I’m aware, the game doesn’t show you how primaries work before buying access to them, which would be useful to anyone on the fence about purchasing a Primary mode). If the developers did these two things, this game is an instant five stars.

Side note: I also recommend adding an ad-free upgrade. I’d pay for that as long as the price is right!

Online play is awful

The game has great mechanics and the voting groups are cool. Single player vs AI but online is where I take issue. In order for your actions to count, you have to press the end turn button. If you don’t press it, you don’t get the points for what you spent on. Along with that, the host can set the turn time to one minute, which makes it incredibly difficult to fit all your spending in. If you don’t have time to press the end turn button, or by mistake you forget to press it, you get absolutely nothing. For this reason I won’t be playing online until this is fixed. Either get rid of the end turn button or make the minimum turn time 3 minutes instead of one.

One other thing, it’s 2020 now and this needs to be updated. Make Biden free at least, why is Hillary still there. Also 90% of this game is pay-to-win. Let primary mode be free, or make the VP free. All of the election games out there are pretty terrible, but this one is the least bad. It could be better if you didn’t have to pay for everything.

I love the game but I have issues

It’s an amazing game I think I have a little troubles with it though first we should have free debates ever couple turns it would make the game a lot more interesting we should be able to use more people like Biden for free and Obama for free and more it’s a really great game but you need to add more interesting things but I have one more thing that could actually make this game a lot more fun I know the point is to win the USA but if we win it I think we should actually be a president of it and do president stuff and if people want to challenge the people who win they can it’s something I think it doesn’t have to be added but I’ll play if if that is added and one more thing I feel like we should have ways to have a bigger spending I usually get 250k and I try so much stuff to get more money like National groups but I want more easier ways to get more money but stared for example not only National groups but everything a candidate wins a state they get money for that Idk just find a way we can have more money to win more states after you fix these problems I will come back and make it five star and I’ll share it to more people to give you a five star.

Great concept but pay to play

I love the concept of this game. I love the state and national groups and the strategy it takes to win. There have been several improvements and lots of new candidates added over time. The only issue is that you have to pay for almost everything. They added primaries, you have to pay for them. They added Vice President running mates, if you pay for them. They added debates, if you pay for them. They’ve added nearly every candidate you can think of from Lincoln to Tom hanks to Santa Claus, you just have to either pay for each candidate individually or pay a monthly subscription to use them.

The game has great potential to be an enormous hit, particularly in election years if they would make more gameplay available to people who don’t want to pay to play. There are no ads but I would be willing to watch an ad before new games. If they did this I think there would be a lot more players and they would still make more money than the current app.

We can’t stop playing!!

My friends and I are all poli sci majors in college. We’re spread out across the country, and stuck doing remote learning all day because of COVID, but being able to play 270 together has truly made Friday nights fun again.
This game has got all the excitement of Risk and other classic territory oriented games, except more complex and far more entertaining if you like politics. The strategic element of 270 is unbeatable, and you get so caught up in spending, acting, and thinking like your chosen candidate. Additionally, the gameplay itself is streamlined and easy to follow, and the candidate caricatures are hilarious. (@ted Cruz!!)
My only criticism would be that sometimes when you’re kicked out of a game it doesn’t allow you to spectate. It happens on and off, and maybe it’s just a bug that needs to be fixed, not too big a deal.

So fun but Pay-to-Win

Love this game. The one issue is that some of the characters available for purchase have significantly higher bonuses than the free characters. I might play a tight game with one of the free characters against a founding father or an Obama or someone with a vp and they will eventually overtake me simply because while I’m getting +20some percent these characters can get 50s. I’ve seen as high as +82% with a vp.

I know you’ve gotta make money and for that there has to be an incentive to purchase characters beyond just the name, but it’s very frustrating to know that some of these games I lose I only lost because I’m broke.

I think there’s nothing wrong with charging for these characters but I think there should also be a way to unlock new characters over time. Maybe with quests themed towards different characters, or a random pack type system to get the characters over time. Also I think you should be able to unlock vp for characters by getting x number of wins with that candidate.

I think all of this would make an already great game even more addicting, engaging, and rewarding. You might lose some microtransaction revenue but you’ll get more ad revenue with people grinding for these characters.

Good game with lots of potential

Summary: Mix between chess and poker but with a political skin on top. (NOT A POLITICAL SIMULATION, ex) Donald Trump can win California but lose Texas to Hillary Clinton). The game overall has quite some depth to it but it is very expensive to experience the FULL game. Subscription to unlock the full game is $7 per month and if you’d rather buy candidates one by one it costs $4. Playing against the AI is ridiculously easy and the hard core AI mode (which cost extra to unlock) is an absolute joke. It is possible to win with F2P candidates but the game has quite a steep learning curve. The best part of the game really is the FB community not run by the developers. There you can interact with other players, join tournaments, and schedule consistent games. Anyone interested in politics/strategy games, should definitely download and give the game a try.

Absolutely one of THE best election games

I always thought a game surrounding presidential elections was a missed opportunity and while many have tried, most have failed. What makes this game fun is the wide array of characters you can get as well as the different modes such as the primary mode. If you don’t want to shell out the money that’s okay but what they give you character wise is a decent selection you can even win with on online mode. My only qualms are the prices of the characters/modes and how online works for what counts as a win (if everyone forfeits before round 8 it does count). Plus I’d think it’d be more realistic if they had question options to develop a platform and use a persons past to affect their chances of winning certain regions as oppose to simply BUYING it. Regardless fun game definitely worth the download and getting the in app purchases.

This Games Addicting once you get the hang of it

UPDATED: man here I am again to remind you all how great this game is. I’m so invested in this game that I no longer hop on my Playstation cause I can’t wait to run for President on this game. Playing online against others is awesome too, feels like a whole scenario where you are the one trying to run for leader of the USA. Lots of candidates, all the online modes, party modes for primaries. This game is great, I strongly recommend. Plus whenever they update this game they always add in more cool features and this game is one of those I can’t get enough of. Wish I could give it more then 5 stars.

Game is great. Would love it the opponents weren’t such beasts at this game but I understand they’ve been playing longer than I have. I love playing this game and am happy I can invite my friends to play along too. It’s the best feeling when it’s a 5 person game and it comes down to my buddies and I. This game could only get better and I’d be blown away. Also maybe add more then just Hilary, Bernie, Trump, Etc To play as without having to buy a new character or subscription. That would be awesome. Thanks again 270!!!

270 Is My Favorite Game on My iPhone

I love 270. As a Political Science major — with a concentration in American Politics — this is the perfect game for me. Even before I began attending college, I was playing this game! It was right around the 2016 election (I played it before and after) that I found it, and I have not looked back since.

I particularly love learning about all American elections, specifically presidential ones. Whether it be how state groups feel about certain candidates, to electoral and political trends, to sometimes unexpected states becoming major game changers in any given election.

I think this game highlights that perfectly, with every state being up for grabs, and having certain states pertain to particular interests/ state groups (i.e. oil production in the midwest, African American/ Latino support in Florida, CA, etc). I think the map created for the game is very accurate as a representation for the country.

I also enjoy the fact that more and more candidates have been added over the years. I supported Andrew Yang this past election cycle, and seeing him — and playing as him in game — is super awesome!

Overall, this is one of my favorite games. I have told friends about it, I play it whenever I can, and I have a blast doing it. You guys seriously could not have made a better game for not only someone like me, but for everyone who is interested in America and its electoral politics!

Awesome game (with some ideas for later)

This is the best frigein political game out there. I love how you can more politicians in the store (even though it's 3.99, it's decently overpriced) but sometimes, the creators give the people a free politician. But I feel like the creators can do better. I have two fresh ideas.

1. Lower the price for politicians: the current price for ONE politician is 3.99. That is decently overpriced for one politician. The price for one politician should be 1.99 or have a pick 3 politician for 3.99

2. Create and share politicians: I feel like we should have the option of creating our own politician. Have a number of features, the political party ( Republican, Democratic or Independent), The nation where the politician is from and have a number of point to increase or decrease (decreasing will give you more points) benefits and penalties. Then you can play that politician by yourself or share on a database where you can download other people created politician. Now with that you can have the political race of dreams. Have Donald Trump take on Andrew Cuomo or if you are a entertainment and music fan, you can have a race between Post Malone vs Kanye West. Even sports fans can be part of this, Lebron James vs Steph Curry, Tom Brady vs Eli Manning or even Donald Trump vs Aaron Judge.

Other than that this is a great game

Easily my favorite mobile game. BUT…

This is an exceptional game. It’s strategic, competitive, intuitive, and has excellent and reasonably realistic strategy. I would highly recommend it to anyone, and I am giving it 5 stars. Here are what I view as the flaws in an otherwise excellent game.
-The characters are way too expensive. Unlocking all is $7 a month or alone they’re $4 per character. I would love to pay a dollar per character once in a while and support the creators more but I never pull the trigger. I’ve only bought 1 character plus the few you get for free.
-You can’t play competitive matchups over days. You basically have to play an hour long game straight. I’d love to do it turn style more like gamepigeon, but it’s clunky and it’s just not doable.
Overall, I love this game. I’ve put more time into it than any mobile game Ive ever played, but it could be easily improved as well and it’s not as playable as I’d like it to be. Good luck!

More Than A Game

This game is not exactly what it is marketed as. Rather than a political strategy game, I would simply describe it as a money management game, and it is a great one at that. While it’s not quite what I thought I was downloading originally, the complex strategies involved in the game, lead to a brand new experience every time, and I have been hooked for months. However, the true strength lies not in the game itself, but in the community built around it.

Within 270TwoSeventyUSElection , there is a pathway to joining the “270 Lounge” on Facebook, where players of all levels of experience share tips, strategies, compete in player-run tournaments, and even live stream matches! It is truly a vibrant and engaging community which has been a joy to be a part of! Without the community aspect, the game is good, but with the connections, friendships, and rivalries that form through the community, the game becomes great. This is not simply another strategy game, this is a competitive social atmosphere, and that’s why I enjoy this game so much.

Best Political Game That I’ve played in a while

I was first introduced to the game 270 by a good friend of mine during my summer break. Ever since then, I must say that I immediately became addicted to the game. I enjoyed interacting with the overall mechanics of the game. On my IPhone I was always able to challenge fellow games seamlessly. The cartoon graphics of the political characters also stood out to me since it gave it a sort of “retro mobile”vibe to overall experience. I was also amazed by the near accuracy of the accurate political data that was incorporated into shaping the national and state interests groups as well as the plus and minuses that each political candidate would bring to the table( eg. Donald Trump would have a plus with the Conservative National group but a minus with the Youth Group). As a Political Science major and Presidential nerd I was ecstatic to find this in the game. My only complaints is that I wished that the presidential primaries were free and that debates were incorporated. Nonetheless, I’d highly recommend this mobile game to anyone who wants to learn about American electoral politics in a chill and fun way!

Fun and frustrating!

This game is a fun way to strategize for the success of your candidate. Should they spend a lot of money to campaign in West Virginia? That depends on whether they have an advantage with the manufacturing groups that dominate there. Knowing your candidate’s strengths and weaknesses and positioning them to your advantage against your opponents will put you ahead... but you can’t relax! Your opponent can out-campaign you and steal away your states, so pay attention to your early turns and set yourself up for success in the endgame.

The game can be frustrating because just when you think you’re safe, your opponent can surge ahead. 270TwoSeventyUSElection is also a bit buggy at times, but it’s not aggravating enough to me to take off a whole star on the rating.

Most addictive political game in the app store!

I have played countless election simulation games but nothing compares to 270. Since you've asked for suggestions on further updates, I would love to have some policy effect the game. The economics of campaigning are important, but the platforms candidates run on are also crucial to victory. Beyond spending money in certain states, you could also send the candidate to campaign there on specific issues that would be important to that state. You could have a list issues to campaign on and depending on which issue you pick in which state would determine how well you do there (ie. you could discuss immigration reform in Michigan with little effect, but if you discuss rebuilding infrastructure, or job creation you have much higher gains).

Thanks for creating such a fun game!

Love it but…

So all I want to say is that I absolutely love this game and I truly can’t believe how amazing it is when I first downloaded it I was expecting to get bored very quickly but the more you play the more you learn therefore you just want to keep playing to get better and win more because the satisfaction of defeating an opponent to become president (even if it is a game) is just so great, but my only thing is (and I don’t know how many people would agree with me but oh well) I really wish there was some sort of custom candidate option I personally wouldn’t even care at all how it was done I just think it would be really interesting to see which different strategies online players would choose to take most advantage of and obviously there would have to be some kind of stat limit so you would have to plan wisely and it would be more fair. So yeah that’s all the game is great just wish we had more customizability because I think online games would become very interesting and it would be pretty cool to see yourself running for/becoming president.

Best Political Game, Here’s a Few Suggestions

This is by far the best electoral college/ political game there is. It is all strategy and everyone starts out equal. However, there are a few updates that the developers should make to help the game grow:

The state groups need to be updated. Some of the swing states are really no longer swing states (Virginia, Colorado) while others are (Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia). Every state group should be relooked at to ensure they still align with the current structure.

They should come up with special limited time modes based on current political events.
For example, they could weight the states with the current political structure to make it more realistic. For example, maybe a Republican candidate starts out with one rung in traditional Conservative states like Texas, Alabama and Tennessee, and vice versa. Democratic candidates could start with one rung in states like Oregon, Massachusetts and California. This could be a fun mode added to the game that I think would be popular.

Overall, this is a great strategy game and I enjoy playing it. It is similar to RISK and really easy to learn. I am hoping the developers add a few updates to help improve the game from what it was when it first started. Don’t change anything major because it is a great game, but revising the state groups to align with the current structure would be a great first step.
