Looks like a PS1 game

There is nothing in setting to allow the “joystick” movement. I use an iPhone 13 and it’s so far left I can’t hold the device and move at the same time. U would think they would get with the times and have this a bit movable. Sorry I’m a woman and have nails. They def do obstruct game play. But not enough to have man looking hands at the expense of a mobile game 🤷‍♀️

I mean, the concept is ok. I was looking forward to some old school pc gaming, but on mobile, but really if I can’t move the move button, it’s not worth it. The only thing I can say is, there’s an obvious fee u buy coins to play. Some stupid tween mentioned it’s as free. Yeah, but this pop up, it’s there. ALWAYS to remind u they do in fact have a cost and it seems a bit over reaches for a game that doesn’t have nice looking graphics. There’s a 90 day and 6 month fee that looks to equal out to about 12 to 15 USD a month. It gives u a faster XP, and possibly coin drops. But, I didn’t keep it long enough to find out just how slow leveling is. I say, if u upgrade the movable to move it around on screen, I might reconsider trying it out longer. I don’t see an auto button; so that works. But as a reminder; you are playing with ppl against a pc; so I wouldn’t put money into the game just bc of that. They will always win when it comes to things like pvp.

MMORPG Aspects Missing

First off I’d like to say that I’d advocate for this game as the best MMORPG on mobile. But the game is missing key elements such as working with friends to defeat bosses and PvP. I’d love to work with my friends towards getting great gear by defeating bosses but that content seems to be missing. I understand there are elder bosses but that’s nothing like going into an instance with many unique bosses and getting a dedicated team together to down them. Secondly, PvP is without a doubt the longest lasting form of content because it is not static like PvE is. It is constantly changing and every battle is different from the last. Those are the two biggest problems I see for the game and because of the lack of end game content in the form of raids and dungeons I may have to pass on this game. MMORPGS aren’t sustainable for me if I’m not working with my friends. I’ll finish with some positives that this game does better than any other MMORPG on mobile though. 1. Great Character Customization 2. Long Story Line and Levels To Progress Through 3. Many Different Ways to Build Your Character (Love Talents) 4. Open World and Huge Map 5. No Auto-Quest

Excellent MMORPG, BUT...

I have been enjoying this game immensely on my iPhone 8 Plus, probably the most enjoyable open world mmorpg I’ve ever played on mobile, BUT this game generates an insane amount of heat!! I have played some of the highest demanding graphical games available for mobile such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, PUBG, etc, on MAX settings and I have never experienced such immediate extreme heat output!! This game will rapidly deteriorate any smartphone battery with the amount of heat it causes, and don’t even consider playing while charging! I suspect the heat issue is largely from not limiting the frames per second which causes the cpu/gpu to run in overdrive to achieve the highest possible FPS the device can provide. I very strongly advise adding a 30 FPS limiter option to the Mobile settings. Most mobile games are already limited to 30 FPS because developers understand the heat generation issue from allowing 60+ FPS. As much as I enjoy this game, I am knocking off 2 stars until this very troubling issue is resolved. No one wants to rapidly deteriorate the lifespan of their phone battery to be able to play a game.

A beautiful world

I hope the developers at Mad Otter Games don’t mind me saying this... I mean it in the best possible way!
If you ever played WOW on your PC and wanted a similar “mobile” experience you’ve found it here. V & H has auctions, your own mounts, numerous items to equip, modify, or sell...your own house and garden and farm animals, and of course monsters and villains. The storyline is well scripted and oftentimes hilarious. The quests are a blast and the V & H world is enormous and full of different and unique regions and villages to explore. You can join guilds, run for political office, go on Raids with friends, interact with players local and around the world, all the while working your way up to being a hero. Not at all “ pay-to-play” and always evolving with new adventures and festivals. My only issue (and a minor one considering the elegant magnitude of this game) is that there are just so many different channels to communicate on that it is often difficult to interact with others in the game and play at the same time. Still, if you want a fun and beautifully realized gaming experience I highly recommend this one!

Thanks Mad Otter Peeps... this is awesome!

Great game, but...

After playing dozens of MMOs on mobile this is the best one I’ve played thus far. The clases are unique, the crafting is immersive and the game plays well. The community is also one of the best I’ve experienced on any MMO on any platform. There is no p2w here. Yes you’ll find a few purchasable quality of life items, mounts and cosmetics and that is understandable but the game can be enjoyed in its entirety without spending a dime (I choose to support the devs with sporadic purchases but there is also a subscription that provides increased xp gain and a few other useful perks.)

There’s one feature the game lacks and it’s killing me, often times keeping me from playing on mobile for longer than 30 minutes or so. The joystick is fixed sooo low on the bottom left of the screen and it can’t be unlocked. After 15 minutes of continuous play my left thumb is on fire from the awkward angle it’s forced to play at. I hope this is something activity been worked on since it is a big issue across the mobile community.

First impression

I’ve only played a hour but I’ve played many mmorpg games and so far it’s enjoyable . The game reminds me of a faster pace old school RuneScape . The music is fun , graphics and controls are better than I had expected , voice acting on quest are well done ,enough so , that they keep my attention that I’m not just skipping through the dialogue. 1 hour isn’t enough to tell another person much hence my title title. I’ve seen constant public chat that has been helpful and it’s 1am which to me hints at an active and helpful community . I will write another review if I still find myself playing and hopefully with my gf as we are both currently looking for a mobile game to play together . ESO, GW2 , WoW, RuneScape old and new are our more favorable games played together . We are also constant war zone players too, I add this because they are games we like and if you have similar taste in games as we do then maybe you will enjoy this game as well :)

Excellent game… just a few bugs.

I know I have read reviews where players hate this game or certain aspects of it at least. Personally I do love the game and have admittedly spent probably too much money on it. That being said, there are a few things I’ve noticed or could suggest.

First, be careful when buying from the auction. Sometimes if you buy too fast, it will sell you an item you don’t want instead of what you’re trying to get because it takes a couple of minutes to reload. Speaking from experience. Another thing is that in combat you can accidentally use consumables in quick slots you otherwise wouldn’t be able to… like sweet sea pies when you’ve already used one 5 minutes ago. So again be careful.
Do research on the best builds and skills for your character to put your skill points to the best use.

Some of the music and most of the voices are a bit annoying too, just wonky. And the reliance on bugs (especially the ear mite quest), slime and gross things is a bit cringy. Also sockets are way too hard to come by unless we purchase them, so if you’re a free player, hoard them for your higher level gear. Also it would be nice if furniture was functional (maybe a rest bonus for sitting?). Also a fireplace I purchased simply disappeared. Dunno what that was about.

All in all though, a great game with great potential and I do appreciate how challenging it is for the developers and appreciate all of their hard work.

It’s about time!

The only game I’ve played worth a good review.
I’ve Been playing for a couple weeks now. Finally a rpg that you can play on YOUR time. Brings back the classic rpg in all its glory. It’s not a pay to play game at this point and I’m lvl 30. Lots of quests and things to do. Many helpful players in the game. So far the only thing I think they should do is give a good offer on a monthly plan for willing payers. They offer a great 3 or 6 month subscription plan with excellent bonuses but they don’t offer the same amount of crowns that you need to purchase it, so they are pushing for the 50 dollar purchase. I think they would get more paying players if they would offer a crown purchase for the same amount of crowns it takes for a 3 or 6 month subscription.
The games got decent graphics and easy control setup for devices.
If you liked games like UO, EQ or WoW you will enjoy this pocket portable rpg for sure.

Best Devs Ever

This isn’t so much a review about the game itself, which is amazing by the way; definitely give it a shot, there is so much to do and the community is awesome. The most important thing though, are the devs. On Feb 14, 2019, the data servers were hacked and from the moment the servers went down the devs were making sure everyone was up to speed with what was going on. Every day they streamed for at least 45 minutes to keep people informed and were even kind enough to let us know exactly where they were with planning to get the game back up. During the streams, they even gave some sneak peaks on upcoming updates. With the communication that you get from the devs, there should be no doubt that this is one of the finest mmo rpgs out there. The community is great, and if you ever have questions, any player or the devs would be happy to answer them on the official Villagers and Heroes forum.

Fantastic community and costumer service

This like my first review ever and it’s for this amazing game I messed up and went to a different server and thought that I had deleted my characters but I did not they were not deleted I was just on the wrong server then what I thought I was on so stupid mistake but I contacted customer support and they replied the next day asking questions to help me out and what they could do they told me that I was in the wrong server and gave me instructions on what to do to solve the problem so IMO amazing costumer service I really didnt expect to get contacted the next day and secondly the community most are great people who will help you out you will rarely meet some bad apples that will scam you for items or gold but almost everyone is welcoming to new players and they will answer any questions you ask that’s really all I have to say I love the game and the people it’s just great

Great MMO

Highly recommend this game. Have started and quit many MMO’s but this one always keeps me coming back. I love that it’s not an auto battle or auto quest type MMO, has that old school grind. The community and livelihood of chat is great, as lot of other MMOs have a dying community. People are helpful for those who are new and have questions. And opportunity to do gardening ranching other than just fighting and questing . There’s not an overwhelming amount of icons and features that you’d feel like you’d never understand compared to other MMOs. Lots of class variety. And in my opinion not really a “pay to play” , use of real money will get your luxury features and get you to level up faster but you can definitely experience the content without purchasing things. There is always new updates and events going on which is nice as well

Amazing Game!

This is a great game. I was looking for a MMO game to share with my kids that has a bit more depth than Roblox and I think I may have found it. I am scouting it out and seeing if they watch me play - maybe they’ll ask me to set them up an account down the road! I am curious to see how it will perform on their entry level laptops. I like that access to mounts and houses comes fairly quickly. I like exploring and leveling up my character. I also like gardening and ranching. It is fun that you are not restricted to one or two crafting skills. You can learn them all! But what is most amazing is the ability to play cross platform - on the iPhone AND on the PC. The world is beautiful on both mobile and PC devices! I also appreciate that the content is free with the opportunity to pay for upgraded content. Overall, great work and I cannot wait to adventure more!

Finally! Just a little more developing tho?

I have started and given up on so many mmo games, this is the only one I’ve actually enjoyed and kept. It has an great story with a beautiful world. It really sets up cooperative play very well and is not a PvP game, which allows for much better friends and team up aspects. The villages are great for finding friends and the elder bosses are too, you can almost always find someone on the chat to help you with a hard one. The seasonal events are also a great touch for team up opportunities. It is not a time demanding or pay to progress game at all either.
Just two things I would like to see more development in. 1. Some of the quests just stop before a satisfying ending, like the one about finding the kidnapped girl? I think it is because they are still being developed, so not mad, just would love those to be finished sooner than later! 2. I play as a female hunter and near all the armors are long dresses which don’t really match the character type well. I would like to have more tunic styles. That’s all though, seriously this game is really fun.

Love the game but UI could use some work

I really love the game so far it’s a game that you can play on your own time it dose take force you to buy stuff just to catch up to other players and the fact that there is no pvp is a huge thing in this game you don’t have to worry about people randomly attacking you while your grinding

The only thing I think the devs could do to make the ui better is that you could customize it such as if you have the tap to move feature active you could take the joystick off and you could move the position of your abilitys around the screen to make it more personal based on your play style the way that it is set up by default it just makes the game look like a generic mobile game but overall it’s a game I definitely recommend for mmorpg players who like to play on the go

If any devs see this please let me know so that I know this comment was seen

Must try MMO!

If you are a fan on Runescape 3 or Old School, Albion Online, or Diablo, you will absolutely love this game. There is absolutely no shortage of different content including PVM and skilling. Don’t plan on maxing your account anytime soon either, you will have years & years of content before you ever get close. Then the creme de la creme, all the awesome events, they have year round. The community is also the friendliest and least toxic of any game I’ve ever played, bar none. Along with being the best F2P MMO in the market, not a dollar is needed to play the game as intended, and people who do pay, have no serious advantages over you. But the subscription is very worth if you fall in love. This game is a MUST TRY! You absolutely will not regret it! It can seem complicated at first, but the community will gladly take time out of their day to guide you through it. Please give it a shot, you will fall in love.

Fun Fun Fun!!!

I already see myself putting hours of gameplay into this awesome game! The graphics are really great and the music brings me to that type of fantasy setting. The storyline keeps me intrigued, as well. Of course there are purchase options, as in any game, but it doesn’t disrupt the immersed feeling you would get when you’re really into the game. I might even consider buying a few items from the store , which is rare for me because it takes a really good game for me to use actually money.

I recommend this game if you are looking for a role playing game full of adventure, fun, and social interaction. The talent system and gear augmentation is simple to use and easily explained step by step. The game has a Free Realms kind of feel to it, while having an expanded world with a World of Warcraft visualization to it. You won’t regret trying this game. If you’re an RPG fan like me, you’ll be hooked as well!

Groups??

I’ll tell you what, it’s perfect. It’s the most long lasting game I’ve ever stayed playing on! Like 20 hours straight xd! BUT elder bosses are just annoying!! They’re only fun when u get the CHANCE to kill them. Even if you say play with “friends” I have no friends on it!! barely maybe 3 cus I had to talk? And it’s not as easy as you say “raiding elder bosses” because most times u get ignored when u ask for help, and u feel it’s a burden to ask! from level 1 to 40 which where I am now, and I think later raids are mostly for guilds?? And not everyone wants to play in group. So please.. Could you at least make it more comfortable for those who like to play alone? Not everyone likes to socialise and I mean it I promise! You could ask at the start of the game if you like to play alone mostly all time or play and mix with groups so it can adjust the game, if I really have to be in a group for a boss, I’ll just wait in a queue & not ask anyone sorta thing? What I’m saying sounds absurd 😑 but yeah something like that.

Great Game!!!

Like many others, I’ve downloaded many mobile games and stopped playing them for one reason or another, mostly pay to win crap! Pay to win has ruined gaming! Thankfully this game Isn’t one of those games. Yes you can buy crowns to buy things but it’s mounts, different looks or styles and other things to make you look cool. If you want a game where you have to earn what you get then you’ll love this game. Once you locate the travel points around the map, travel is super easy. There is a quest for a mount at the very beginning so that helps a lot. The crafting system is different but very good. Overall, If your looking for an awesome MMO, look no further! For a mobile game, this has some great graphics, spells, monsters etc! There are tons of quests and things to keep you busy. Although there is no PvP and No PvP is a huge bonus to me! If I want to kill someone in a game format, I’ll play something else! I could go on and on but download the game and see for yourself, you won’t regret it!

Very unintuitive

Update: I've decided to give the game another try and when I get that quest whose clues disappeared on me to immediately stop tracking all other active quests and see if maybe I can get to the end of it this time. I'll update my review accordingly.

Much of what goes on in this game, or of what is supposed to go on in this game, is difficult or impossible to fathom. And one of the things I dislike most in games of this type is when I'm on a quest and suddenly all clues and leads and breadcrumbs for that quest disappear, and I have to leave the game and go looking for clues in wikis about the game which are cryptic and uninformative in their own way and wind up being of no help either. This was my experience with this game, and that's why I just deleted it. I was on a main quest that promised good sounding rewards and it just fizzled to nothing, and trying to pick up the thread again by reading webpages and walk-throughs just led me around in circles. Way too much work for no reward. Highly not recommended.

VERY In-Depth MMORPG. Also Fun And Entertaining!

Villagers & Heroes truly has SO much to offer! I am honestly surprised that this game is free to play. Granted I am only a few hours in but this game has already blown me away! With the amount of content that this game offers I can honestly see that it is possible to be entertained for weeks and not have to spend any money at all. I haven’t spent a penny so far and I don’t see a real need to until POSSIBLY end game or high level raiding. Even then I am sure there will be sufficient items and gear that can be found rather than bought, unless obviously, you are trying to progress as fast as possible or be “better than average”. This is one of the best games that I have found on VillagersHeroes Store in a VERY long time. If you are into MMORPGs I HIGHLY recommend that you at least give it a good chance. I haven’t found one thing to complain about so far.
