By far the best MS SQL SERVER Client for iPad

I have been using iPads almost since the first one came out and never found a database client that worked well for me (been through numerous ones trying over the years) till now. Before had to pull out my laptop to do anything, now for most stuff I easily work on things from the iPad.

Only infinitesimal issue I have is wish it had better options for execution plans since I need to optimize queries a lot, but that may not even be possible. Just so happy to have a client that works.

Pretty good app, but it makes me wonder…

…how it saves configuration data across app and data deletion?

Turned off iCloud access, deleted app and data, and verified that no iCloud usage is shown for SQLServerMSSQL . (Why iCloud access was allowed in the first place is also a little strange)

Downloaded SQLServerMSSQL again and the old configuration data was back anyway, though, interestingly not the blocking of iCloud access!?
Perhaps I did something wrong but before I don’t understand what is going on I am probably not going to subscribe to it. Too bad as it does what I need.
Thanks in advance for any explanation.

Love it!

I’ve been using this in macOS for a long time and am stoked to finally see it in iOS! Having this on my iPad means a significant portion of my work can be done natively while mobile rather than having to log in to a remote workstation. Very highly recommend! Also, the developer is very responsive and helpful any time I came across an issue he would help me troubleshoot the problem to resolution.

Export feature is great

I’ve long been a fan of this same app on MacOS. Its great to see an iOS version. This last release included an export of the entire result set which is infinitely better than manually selecting rows to export. Its nice that one connection is supported for free and multiple connections require an upgrade which is fair. However, I do feel the upgrade price is steep. Perhaps a tiered approach would be possible.

Wow!

Wow.... I used this free version for 60 seconds and knew it was well with the 150 one time fee to use for so many projects to come. You can literally execute procs, alter views, export the results to csv and even text the results all from within SQLServerMSSQL . Works perfect with my SQL server at home and azure. Well done gang!! 5 star!!

One star for lack of basic functionality

If you’re going to offer a free download with in app purchase, don’t lock query results behind the purchase. That is the most basic feature of a SQL app. And they happily let you TYPE the query (which is a pain on a small screen and keyboard) and RUN the query (which could take a while) but then lock the actual results.

Just make it a paid app. I’m sure it’s worth the price, but I’m so annoyed by the tactic that I won’t even bother with SQLServerMSSQL.

No pop ups

Updated review: Great software, but the pop ups are annoying. It may be Apples guidelines, but that does not mean it is respectful of your users’ experience.

Pricey but decent

This is a nice tool to have on the iPad, but the price is much too high for me to replace using Microsoft SQL Studio via Remote Desktop. I don’t see a whole lot of difference in the basic experience, which is perhaps a credit to the capabilities of SQLPro. Although it is nice to have an app for SQL queries, which is why I took a look at it, I don’t find that worth the price and loss of the full capabilities of SQL Studio.

Slow typing with large queries

Very nice app, the only professional-feeling SQL editor I’ve seen on iOS. I got it reading directly from GitHub using Working Copy.

However it is too slow on my first generation iPad Pro. Anything more than 20 lines has a noticeable lag when typing. Past 50 lines, the lag is >1 second per character and unusable.

Great App !!!

this is one of the few app that really makes me use the Ipad for running my business instead of using the ipad jut to read emails
on the go !!! the price is nothing compared with the benefits...

Excellent Service and support from the developer, he has already added suggestions that make SQLServerMSSQL more usable !!

will recommend it 110%...

Amazing app

Worth every dime I paid for it. Easy usability and all the tools I need to monitor incoming data in a pinch.

Azure SQL DW support?

Wish it supported Azure SQL DW — it DOES support normal Azure SQL (PaaS), but not Azure SQL DW (SQL Server Data Warehouse). It is SO close, but fails on connect because it tries to set ANSI_NULLS which is not supported on SQL DW.

Can’t use without signing up for a subscription

Requires you to first sign up for a subscription before you can use any features. Sure, you get a week free, but at that point, they already have your data.

Looks great but ...

Upgraded my review to 5 stars. This is the best app of this kind. I tried many.

BTW. Support was impeccable! Problem solved!

Crashes on my iPad when I am in a results tab and click Edit.

I can see the query history but couldn’t figure out how to save a query.

Do not upgrade

The old version could be used, even it can only support 1 server. Since the new version, you cannot use it anymore unless you have to pay to upgrade to premium version. Not honest!

Great tool - cripple ware

The tool is crippled for query results. Developer wants 5$ a month for access. Application does not state that in app purchase is required.

Really helpful!

Closed after clicking “Test connection”

SQLServerMSSQL closed every time I clicked on “Test Connection”. So I deleted it. This happened the 4 times I tested it.
